The Winner Is …
Alright, already. Cool your jets and listen up: We do indeed have a winner.
HGTV’s Monica Pedersen paid a visit to Hinsdale, Illinois, resident Eric Makstenieks just yesterday to share the news that he had won the HGTV Dream Home 2011 grand prize package. He won the modern mountain lodge, the SUV and the $500,000 cash!
Eric says he entered almost daily – even in the hospital on the day his daughter was born (talk about loyalty!). He, his wife Catherine and their two children look forward to making their first-ever trip to the vacation wonderland of Spruce Peak at Stowe Mountain Resort very soon. “This is surreal,” says Eric. “This is too good to be true!”

I sort of agree with all the people out there that think the winner is predetermined. Only “rich people”, those that already have a nice house and are not worried about day to day expenses seem to win. I personally would love to win a nice house, but would be overjoyed if a waitress, cashier, single mom or SOMEONE that actually needed it would win.
i agreee, u didnt sound like a soar looser at all cus im sure at least half of the people reading this feel the same way and don't want to admit it. HGTV will definetly loose rating on the special. Maybe they should stop doing the ambush. It's fun and all, but obviously no one can keep a secret. If the beens got spilt, it wouldn't be because of a neighbor, it would be the winners fault, and HGTV would just unfortunately have to do something about it. I just feel bad cus im the only one in my family who has read this blog, and my six year old sister is staring out the window waiting for them to come
you are absolutely right. how could someone who only entered MOST of the time, NOT ALL the time win. it has nothing to being a sore looser, yet being fare. That is all I'm saying.
