At this point, I would rather think about the laundry room, my sensitive nerves cannot take any more
pictures of this. I feel so small and so inept money seems so lilttle to give when so much is needed.
BTW have we seen the room next to the laundry which is for "storage"?
Dear SandyLA, they say in the metaphysics and in Christian and Jewish thought that your thoughts and prayers are the first step, and that your personal gentle soul connected to everyone else to help heal the world. You are doing terrific, right here! right now!
In this day and time I have been looking for that same calming influence, and as I said in a previous post this blog allows me to release a little of the steam, and concerns of the day.
Hi!!!! Long time no see!! How are you fellow bloggies?! Hope ur doing great! ^_^ BTW, congrats to the LUCKY winners!! <3
It's been a long time since I last posted here, so I'm not sure if this question has already been asked but, DOES THE 2011 GREEN HOME HAS A LAUNDRY ROOM? lol sorry, I guess the answer would be a pretty obvios "yes", but I can't seem to find it in the floor plans!! help? :S
There's a large room off the kitchen called "The Do Room" I'm guessing it's a multipurpose room for storage, laundry, crafts etc. It's actually included in my own Dream Home plans.. I don't know how they managed to steal my ideas when they're still in my head. LOL.
My dream multipurpose room has a large countertop island in the middle, with storage cabinets all around, with a washer and dryer and deep sink.
Welcome back cheesecake, now I've got cheesecake cravings on top of apple pie cravings and on and on.
Its in the to do room since it was moved from the upper hallway/floor.
Laundry? who needs to do laundry when you can eat cheesecake. Hey you funny girl, I am soo glad to see you, and of course licking my chops every time I see the word cheesecake. Months ago, I posted to Lessie, and EdinOregon, a famous cheese cake recipe that Paul Newman fell in love with. after tasting a family recipe. If you want it, I'll find it again and post it to you. This is such a good time to indulge big time in all of the things you love. Stick around girl, cause my prediction is that one a these days, just one a these days, one of us bloggies is gonna win something really big like the DH, UO, Blog Cabin, or Green Home.
Oh Janzee please post Paul Newman's favorite cheescake recipe–My Mom loved Paul Newman and this would be GREAT to send to her since she has had to take care of my Father since Christmas Eve with all his surgeries..
Hi Cindy, I'll go into my file, and look for it, but I'll have to add that Paul simply saw a slew of cakes that my mom was trying to sell to Marie Calender's years ago in Tucson. Paul was there, with Joanne filming a movie, and he spotted the cheese cake, a Bavarian Cream, and an apple pie that mom had made from a collection of NYs recipes from Wolfies, and Lindeys. Paul asked if he could taste all of them, and after he did. He smiled that blue eyed eagle eye smile, dazed us with him compliment and said "this is the best cheesecake, I have ever tasted".
Oh, those blue eyes and that smile! That thought may make me drool more than thinking about cheesecake!
Did you see the old blue eyes recipe I posted to Cindy or should I send along a copy to you?
awww! thnx! and yes please!! post the recipe!!! <3:D
Hi babes, I took it off of my old posts, Asked EdinOregon, and heez given my his blessing. I think your ma will be wowed, it will serve a bunch of people and she'll think of Paul.
You're in good company, Cheesecakelover. No one else seems to be able to find it either.
It looks like cheesecakelover<3 was the last one to blog. All right fess up, how many of you went out to get cheesecake this afternoon, when cheesecakelover posted?? If I see so much as a crumb, you have to share, and you'll receive laundry duty..
I'm sure Blog Master Mary will agree, unless of course she's eating cheesecake.
Not yet cookieness,
but the day is still young
and thoughts of cheesecake on my tongue
to this I offer a song
One step closer to my cheese cake
On the first rung
Don't look at me, Cami! No cheesecake here. However, I will admit to lemon meringue pie. I always like to have a pie on hand (or in hand) — in case a food fight suddenly breaks out. You never know, and as they say, always be prepared for whatever life throws your way….
You aren't encouraging the delinquency of former– blog– food fighters are you? Or are you just getting warmed up for the 2012 Dream Home clues?
That pie sounds good. Have you ever had lemon cheesecake? Did you know there was such a thing.
Yes and yes, Cami, to those two delicious questions. I HAVE had lemon cheesecake, and therefore, logic would imply that I did indeed know there was such a thing! Good stuff!
I think I'll have to finish the last slice of apple pie and move on to the lemon meringue again before considering a lemon cheesecake.
Gee, I just realized that maybe all of those desserts lately are the cause of my sugar blues, and not the fact that my name wasn't drawn for the DH! Or, conversely, not winning the Dream Home is the cause of all of my desserts! It's a vicious circle of cause and effect… ^_^
What is that saying? You can have– just desserts? Yep that's it. Enjoy Just desserts, until your jeans are too tight. That's what I do. B)
If we ever see each other at a blog party please make sure you throw one of those mock whipped cream pies my way, just for the fun of it.
No cheesecake for me, Cami. Simply because I couldn't get any. Otherwise, I would have laundry duty.
That is because sweet Liz has the sweet in her name.
When will the location clues begin?
Boomer this is our first year on this blog so we were wondering the same thing too. Someone will answer you though I am sure. Good talking to you.
boomer, I can tell you that the dates that MARY begins the location clues have varied a bit from year to year. For the 2010 Dream Home, she began tossing us clues in early May of 2009 — on the 4 May I think. The following year's 2011 Dream Home location clues started on 5 April 2010 with Clue One through 10 June by the final Clue Fourteen.
Will MARY be up to hitting us with more wild-goose-chase location clues for the 2012 Dream Home? No hints have been forthcoming yet.
North, South, East or West? Leaving Vermont, chances are we'll be looking to the South or towards the West for 2012. How far west depends on whether you ask Cami, who's lobbying hard for Hawaii, or Debra G, who is championing the South, with hopes for a Virginia Dream Home.
Just a quick note on Rebuilding Seattle. The Project Manager, a very ambitious and talented young man, thoroughly went through our home taking pictures and writing down many notes. It was pouring down rain when he was taking notes about our yard. He was concerned that I was allright being outside. He asked me about my Army career and then I asked him how things were going with him. He told me since the construction business has slowed down he has to work long hours just to make ends meet. Working long hours and volunteering his time to Rebuilding Seattle what a remarkable young man. He told me he even finds time to snowboard that put a smile on my face. The next visit at our home will be the the leaders of the volunteer groups. He said he has 50 volunteers for our project. Still trying to catch my breath it is such a dream come true. Happy Saint Patrick's Day tomorrow everybody. Love you all. Soney and Alice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Jgma–0WYU&fe…
Wow, thanks for the wonderful update, alicesoneysmom! Truly, it IS a remarkable dream come true.
Amazing that despite the daily bad news we are constantly hammered with, there are still folks like this young man who are working hard to make ends meet, and bringing joy into other people's lives at the same time.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you and to Soney, with a special "woof" from Terri.
Thank you DBCoop we are really excited. Especially Soney he took our Project Manager for a tour of our little DH. Soney even helped him out snooping in his tool box making sure he picked out just the right tool. Whenever someone is kind and helpful, even if it is at Starbucks or even a fast food restaurant, I always thank them for their kind and positive attitude. Soney and I told him many times how remarkable he was. Soney sends a special "woof" to Terri. He added a whistle at the end! Soney is a Mr. Smarty Pants!
I hope you can give us some details along the way. I'm excited for you Alice.
Thank you Cami we sure will. We aren't used to all the excitement going on at our little DH. Can you imagine on April 30th all the volunteers arriving at our home. We are going to be the talk of the neighborhood! Thanks Cami hope you are feeling better, the flu is going around. Take care.
I'm so happy for you, Alice and Soney! Can't wait to hear more details as the project continues. Diamond wants to hear Soney's take on all of the activity — I'm sure the happy boy will just try to get everyone to play with him the whole time. I know my girls are always sure that visitors only come to our home to see them! Keep us informed, Alice!
Thanks so much C&E. Soney took our Project Manager on a tour of our home and he had his nose buried in his tool box helping him pick out the right tool. Soney is just like your girls and he loves company. We sure will keep everyone informed. Thanks for all your kind words. Talk to you soon.
Hi Alice and Soney!! The luck of the Shamrock has bestowed upon you a new beginning!!
Thanks Lucyourdog. It is just like getting a brand new start in life. What is that saying "good things happen to those that wait" or something like that. And it is so nice to have made so many friends on this blog that are positive and have a love for life. We can't forget all our fury friends they sure have a love for life. Thanks again talk to you soon.
Thanks for sharing with us, Alice! Please let us know how things progressxD
Thanks areeve04 will do. Enjoy reading your posts. Take care.
Thanks for the Building Seattle update, Alice. So happy for you and Soney. Again, thanks for the link
Thanks Lessie haven't had much time to catch up here. Decided that Soney and I needed to celebrate after the visit from our Project Manager so we went to our favorite Starbucks today. I had a caramel latte and Soney had water on the rocks. Almost forgot why I am telling you this story. They play all kinds of music at Starbucks and Etta James was singing rock and roll music the one she sang at the restaurant. We are turning our life around one day at a time and thanks to you and so many other people, and don't forget the pets, on this blog that are helping us do just that. And we thank you all. You are a great friend!
If you and Soney are celebrating, I'm celebrating with you too, Alice. I'll listen to Etta James. snack on some cinnamon twizzlers and have water on the rocks. Tell Soney I'm loving his selection.
Dearest ali, this is quite an undertaking. Be patient as it is quite a long arduous process. but at completion of the program you should have some extraordinary restoration. Are there any parks in the works. Please keep up informed ali about all the developments. We love you very much.
Hi Janzee we love you very much too! It is quite an undertaking to be sure but Rebuilding Seattle is totally organized. How do you say it "all their eyes have dots and their tees are crossed," something like that. The program they put us in is for restoring disabled veteran's homes and because I am just learning about what they do I don't know about parks. I am going to research more when I get a chance. That is a good idea. Janzee you have so much talent it is an honor to be your friend. Soney has a slurpy kiss just for you. Thanks again and will talk to you soon.
Oh honey it's an honor to be your friend, and to be a member of this blog. I love to come hang out at that there Alice's restaurant with one slurpy faced pups. By the way you always send such good stuff our way, I found something you might get a real kick out of. Go to: utube hilarious talking dog videos. and check out the one that has the bulldog that says " I love my mama". It is presented by wheelfunrentals–I guess that is the poster. P.S. now that CooperNova is a daddy to TerrierNova, I think he would love it too.
Thank you for the update Alice. Glad to see your home improvement project is going ahead. I hope they do the work during nice weather up there. So you and soney can escape to the park when the noise and dust is heaviest.
Soney most likely will have to escape. After having pneumonia when he was little I don't want him exposed to the dust and noise. He already told me where he wants to visit. He has a special place in his heart for the doctor and all the nurses that saved his life when there wasn't much hope. So we are going to make reservations for him to spend some time with them at the Vet Hospital. Hope the weather is nice here too at the end of April. You never know though around here just hope it doesn't snow. Just kidding! Oh heaven forbid I shouldn't have said that now it probably will snow! Ed Bunyon hope you forgive Soney and me for telling stories about you but Lessie and Janzee made us do it!
Couldn't believe the thread for this one. Silly. I for one am not interested in looking at someone's elses home-even just the laundry room. Before someone had won it, yes, that was fun–but now just creepy. This house now belongs to someone and if they want to allow the public access with pictures, etc. up to them. I realize that up until now there have been hundreds of pictures of this house (inside and outside) but other than generic pictures they should not be accessible any longer for safety reasons.
This is one complaint of people against reality shows letting people know where every window, door, and even street address is. Enough is enough. Let these people enjoy their new house and let them decide now how much information about the house they want accessed. As in the past, winners have quietly gone about their business with little or no interaction with the bloggers, television cameras, etc. which is up to them to decide.
MAYBE A NEW THREAD ABOUT THE NEW BUILD
heehee…I thought I was the only one.
I completely agree. I come from a family who always tours other people's homes at Christmas and during certain touristy weekends and events. They also open up their own homes during these times. We all have very nice houses and are house proud, but I always found it very creepy and have never had any interest in visiting a stranger's house just to see what its like inside, how its decorated, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love to visit my friends and and love to have them visit me – but its about the people then – not their house. Some people in my family think I am weird and snotty – but I just don't get it.
On the other hand, I love model homes. Until the winner was announced I "toured" the Dream Home daily – now not at all. Thank you for putting into words the sense of voyeurism I have felt during the last week with regard to the Dream Home.
Gail, Thanks for that info.
Your hair looks GREAT !! Keep up the great job. See you over at the green home.
It could be a slow day in the blogs if MARY and the HGTV crew head over to Macleod's Irish Pub on Cumberland Avenue in Knoxville for St. Patrick's Day lunch on the 17th. If that's the case, I hope we get a blog thread with all of the festive photos posted!
Oh dear the yearly event. Trying to find a green shirt to wear on the 17th— at the last minute. I'll have to go raid my daughters closet. The boys need to get their green together too. Great, now I'm going to have to do laundry. Perhaps Mary was just trying to get us all prepared for the 17th. It's taken me a few days to catch on.;)
Well, good luck getting your crew spiffed up for the wearin' o' the green on the 17th, Cami.
And remember what they say — better a pint of green beer than crying over spilt milk. Or something along those lines. That must be some kind of Irish saying, I'd guess. In Jamaica, they say "don't worry, be happy!" About the same thing.
Oooops I forgot. Been too busy doin a darn research paper. I guess I'll have to get up early to help them get ready.
Cami, I had forgotten today was St. Patrick's day until I read the blogs. Last Friday, all the restaurants and bars in my area had a St. Practice Day–a full blown St. Patrick's Day celebration. Technically, I didn't miss a thing if the practice counts.
lol
May you always have
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!
HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!!
Lucyourdog, "all your heart might desire" — does that include:
daffodils in bloom after winter's thaw
the summer fun of pool and spa?
a home to love and lots of friends
and I'm content with what life sends
dreams renewed and dreams come true
my wants are many, my needs are few
a Dream Home's nice to win, for sure
but don't be fooled, it's not the cure
so if not me, no need to cry
I've had my run, it's fun to try
Nice Coop. Like your style.
I agree Lessie, I've always liked Coop's style!! The blog is lucky to have both of you!! I enjoy reading your posts.
DBCoop, the only thing that comes to mind right now is….how in the world do you think of all this stuff at the tip of the hat!! That's quite a creative talent you possess no disputing that!! B)
PS: Happy St Patrick's Day!
Happy ST Patrick's Day!
Funny, I didn't want dinner when I was told to have DInner tonight–so I went to Target and got Ben and Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream—-> I guess you were all talking about Cheesecakes and you spreadthe vibes…NO CLUES that you were even talking about Cheesecakes until I got home and read this tonight..Nah, I looked at Ben and Jerry's and only saw VERMONT…. ohhhhhhh, such is life, ey?
Cindy I think this cake should serve about 10 and cause major salivating when people talk about Paul Newman.

Oh boy I can't wait for the action packed fun sweetheart, lets go toot the kindness. By the way more important than the sour puss and boots, I am thrilled to see you.
We'll put that ol' sour puss in the next load of laundry. Since ya all don't have a laundry room yet we'll do the laundry for awhile, until Mastenieks kick us out.;)
Will do, Gremol.
gremol, I am going to get some new minutes in my go phone, and i'll put the number under your name in the next couple of days. I have some continued thoughts for you about your fibromyalgia, a type of mesage message, and nutrition. I pray that this year you start to feel better miraculously. Also look into salt water jacuzzi, with very low heat.
Much thanks Lady, I am true believer !! I've been reading about those infra-red saunas, suppose to be very "healing". I live just a few miles from the beach (Panama City Florida..Worlds Most Beautiful Beaches) & have thought about setting my above ground pool back up & filling it with water from the Gulf ! I'm conducting my own research into treatments for fibro, I don't care for the meds on the market now. I've even thought about starting a blog web-site for sharing fibro 'stories', you can learn much that way ! Again, Big Thanks & my prayers to you & yours.
Ok so I know I shouldn't complain about anything and I'm not really just venting. I know everyone here including myself wants something better, and I'm grateful I'm not homeless. There are others have worse situations and better situations than I. That is how it is for everyone everywhere, but it is hard I gotta tell ya losing a house and bringing all your things from a twenty plus relationship and store them in an apt. Pictures of my kids stuff like that, oh and my dryer which is located in the basement and it flooded rescued what I could and I have a lot of garbage to throw out and had to beg my ex-husband to store my stuff in my old house that he owns. Well that is all fine, I cried w my daughter but we will be fine. The icing on the cake my dryer flooded and zapped (washer upstairs , dryer downstairs) and I broke my glasses. Not at all fine I come here quickly to read posts and cheer up (some r so funny) when it's the tour of the LAUNDRY ROOM, with two washers and two dryers! UGH I believe in GOD but how much more can a person take, my 11yr old car just started doing something funky! I'm ready to get a horse at this point they r cheaper, grow my own food, have the dog and cat get jobs and start helping out. Oh and one more thing my ex-husband was so kind to remind me that I lose my alimony soon (thought I had it till my daughter was 18) oops my badd that's the child support. I would love to win something for myself and kids but too just well it's not nice what I want to say about my ex. But wow I could use that laundry room! lol Ok I'm good nowhere else to vent and I feel better.
I did it with no child support/no alimony whatsoever/no welfare..etc.. had to work 7 days straight with no time to be sick for 2 1/2 years-I couldn't aford to get sick. NO COLLEGE EDUCATION either.. Forgot to get the washing machine/dryer and vacumn cleaner at the end of the marriage–next relationship I will be in I WILL take those 3 things..*smile*—It is HOW much you want to succeed-BTW I am tired of working now-I had the perfect life–Never had to work for 22 years–Then REALITY set in and now all I do is work..BUT I have meet the most amazing people since my divorce that if I had stayed married I would have never known! Was I scared..ohhhh YES! And I still HATE "The Laundromat" to do my laundry at..But I did it! I used the Scarlett O'Hara approach to life "I will never be hungry again!"-and I will think about it tomorrow if things got too rough! You can only handle a few things at a time to stay mental sane! Good Luck!
Cindy, thanks for sharing your experience with Lynnmarie. Hope it encouraged her to know that better days are ahead.
May I please give you a very big hug?(___________) Life sucks sometimes. But you and your kids
have your health and you do have a place. Dream a lot and dream often, dream very big dreams
and sometimes write them down so you know where you want to go and take little steps. Someday
you will have good days so remember to laugh. When those awful days come remember your
dreams. Good Luck!!!!
Big hug for you from me, Lynnmarie21! I am currently separated from my husband (2nd marriage) and chose to leave the house to him…..Needed to get out with my son quick! So….currently my home is also an apartment, working my hardest to get out of this situation…saving, saving, saving, scrimping, scrimping, scrimping….I know a house doesn't make the home…..I truly appreciate our fellow bloggers, and am so honored you knew you could share with us!
Lynnmarie, hope this difficult time in your life is extremely short. Also hope that better days are ahead for you and your family…SOON!
What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger!!!
"Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh" (or Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you non-Gaelic speakers)! I wonder if Mary will give us a new Green Home thread in honor of the day? And here are a few more Gaelic expressions for today:
http://www.irishgaelictranslator.com/translation/…
My favorite is "Give me the same as the man on the floor (Tabhair dom an rud céanna mar atá ag an fhear ar an t-úrlar)! I'll have one of those too!
So beautifully said CplusE, and here's a clover from Andover for you and all the bloggies, and bloggies doggies.
LOL, itsokay!!
I like bread and butter
I like toast and jam
How bout Mary gives me
Another blog to read
Thanks, Deerspring!
Sounds like something I'd do. Isn't laughing great, especially when you're laughing at yourself. It makes life so much easier.
Since today is about the wearin' o' the green, I was thinking about those interesting links to one's ancestry that go back many centuries in written human history.
In my case, I'd say I'm a shot of Scotch, a pint Irish, a fifth English, and a magnum French. The end result seems to be plenty of hot air for the bagpipes, a gift of blarney, a love of tea, and a taste for fine wine and a bit of the bubbly.
To all the rest, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
LOL! What an interesting combination….shot, pint, fifth, and magnum!
Works for me Coop. But I will have to add a liter of German too!
A very happy St. Patrick's Day to my pseudo Irish friends and those who are actually Irish. The
wear'in o' the green today is more than a wee important. I will wash my kitchen floor floor wear'in
slacks of green and white check the top that goes with them and a leprechaun pin with a sham-
rock on it. I don't plan on goin out, so I want'd someone to know that I was be'in observant!!!!!!
May the rest of our dreams come true!!
I have a visible green tank top on under my shirt. I did go out and nobody even noticed or cared. I suppose that's better than gettin' pinched.
Isn't there a rule that if someone pinches you and you're wearing green you can punch them back.
Yes there is a rule. According to my 16 year old son you can punch them back 5 times for contact!
Hey Irish lass, my heritage is Irish & American Indian!! Talk about a mixture!! I always wear green, cook corned beef & cabbage, I don't drink so no green beer for me, and I love Riverdance-it seems to stir my soul. But I also have a dreamcatcher above my bed !
? <DIV>I have not checked this out – but it is interesting. The sender is a reliable person!!! Sandy O.</DIV> <DIV style=”FONT: 10pt arial”>
I'm kind of sad today. I wonder if my subconscious self finally caught up with my conscious self and shook some sense into……. myself. :S
LOL! You didn't notice the confrontation between your subconscious and conscious self, Cami? Sure would like to have seen that.
OK, you are now beginning to worry me…
Your subconscious must be suffering from some sort of altered state. Or, maybe it is you conscious state. One of your states is clearly not cooperating with the other. I think an intervention may be in order…
Ok, I'm gonna go have a nap while the laundry is cleaning itself.
Mary, tell me there is a rainbow on the next blog.
Sorry if someone hates rainbows and naps. As it turns out I'm not sad I'm just getting sick. Carry on.
Hang in there, Cami….the quarter is almost done! Hope you feel better soon!
Sure hope you're feeling better soon Cami. You have single handedly kept the Laundy Room blog going. Thanks for all you've done.
No, say it ain't so, Cami. You can't get sick … but if you must, make it quick. The troops will be here, or there, or somewhere over the rainbow, waiting eagerly for your return.
So THAT explains it! I would come do the laundry for you if you didn't live so far away. I really would…:p
Dear Mary;
I am unable to find the winner's ambush on my 229 channel Direct TV. Will HGTV still have the National broadcast of the Dream Home giveaway?.
Hi Ladyleo2, I don't have Direct TV; however, I do have cable (Time Warner) and the guide indicates the show is scheduled for 8:00pm on Saturday, March 19, 2011. As far as I know it's still a GO!!
Okay, Mary, I think it is time to move away from laundry rooms and on to another topic — our dryer decided to stop drying and I have spent way too much time in that particular room today! I had plans to bake a tasty Irish soda bread in honor of the day, and instead spent the whole afternoon with the service technician discussing wayward dryers. The good news — he thinks he can fix it. The bad news — he may not be able to get the part until Monday. Please move us on to another thread Mary — hopefully about something that cannot break down and/or cause trouble! Thanks!
CplusE, first my washing machine breaks down and now your dryer is temporarily out. Maybe an
angry mob of leprechauns have been busy with their pranks this week.
Dear Mary;
Sorry, my bag. I found the winner's broadcast on sat-8pm & 3am.
To all Irish bloggers and Irish wannabees, Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!
To Lessie the Lassie, Gosh and Begorra– the same to you !
Thanks, LL. Hope you enjoyed the day too.
Since I don't expect a new thread until after the reveal, that would be Monday, I'll just chat away.I did
ffinish the laundry and ironing I spent the day washing the kitchen floor. Since this is a hard chore,
I can only do a small amount at a time. When I stop to rest the cats cuddle up until I am ready to go
back After the third break, the three of us cuddled tightly and I suddenly wanted to be a cat. Get fed,
get brushed, get cuddled and sleep. I could use a few days like that,
I hope the beauiiful family asks about the closets! Good evening Bloggerville sleep tight!!.
Purrrr…….
Ahh, SandyLA, to sleep like a cat….."Sleeping is an art form."

Dear Coleman, I am sending you a shiney green four leaf clover, and my leprechaun friend for good wishes, and knowing you Coleman you have many that you've find in very special places around the country.
Hi Janzee. Here are the web sites I posted earlier to help the Japanese. I hope they get on the "main page". <a href="http://www.redcross.org” target=”_blank”>www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS; <a href="http://www.savethechildren.org/japanquake” target=”_blank”>www.savethechildren.org/japanquake or call 1-800-728-3843; <a href="http://www.interaction.org;” target=”_blank”>www.interaction.org; and the last one I found is <a href="http://www.worldvision.org” target=”_blank”>www.worldvision.org. PS thank you for the help.
Hi AkDad, thank you again for posting this important information. Bless you every day in every way.
Happy Day-After-St.-Patrick's-Day, everyone! I think I will see if there is any leftover beer from yesterday's celebrations and use it to make beer bread for breakfast. Does that count as 'the hair of the dog that bit you"? Mary, you are welcome to some if it will help you post a new thread!
OOOh I love that expression and all the wonderful things you do in your kitchen. Let us know how the beer bread comes out!!!!
Happy Friday every bloggie! YEAH! The quarter is finished and all grades have been submitted! Now I have to focus on finishing the review of the teacher prep program for the state and lesson plans for the students I tutor, and then….relax! SOOOO looking forward to tomorrow night and then the official reveal of the Green Home!
It's already 12 ET. Mary are you there? Are you going to leave us in the laundry room all weekend. I don't think there's a TV in there. How will we watch the special tomorrow?
Cami….How are you feeling? Are you well enough to crack open some fortune cookies tomorrow night?
I just have a sore throat and pain all over, but I may kick it.. I slept in this morning, and don't feel as tired as yesterday. So Chinese tomorrow, or should I just go buy a big bag of fortune cookies, so I can pick and choose my fortunes? We have to have some kind of party food I guess. It's time to put this Dream Home to bed, and move on to the Green Home. Parting will be sweet sorrow.
I'm glad you slept in today and feel better! Is it the flu, cold, or strep? I say Chinese AND a big bag of fortune cookies!
Parting will be sweet sorrow….until fortune cookies tomorrow! To be, or not to be….in the laundry room eating fortune cookies. Oh, Dream Home 2012, Dream Home 2012, wherefore art thou?xD
Do you teach Shakespeare as well as English? I'm considering taking it in the fall. Not sure how it would benefiit my life and career.
No, I don't teach literature…I just love it! I appreciate his humor too! Love the theater, ballet, museums…am quite fascinated with the arts actually xD
What IS your major, Cami?
I used to know what I wanted to be when I grow up, but now it's gone again. Maybe next quarter I'll have it figured out..
I enjoy the arts as you do, but feel like I need to stay on a course that leads towards gainful employment.
My Bachelor Degree is social work….Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had gone back to earn my Masters Degree in social work instead of education….MSW is in MUCH more demand than educators, and earn more….at least where I live….Hmmm….more money versus doing what I absolutely love…..Love won:)
Just a thought Areeve, if you are a compassionate person, you'd probably be depressed if you were in Social Work because of all the problems your clients would have. Doing what you love is good, especially in times like these!
Exactly, Lessie! Juvenile probation….Juveniles adjudicated on drug and weapon charges and child protective services take an emotional toll…..I found no matter what the age group, with teaching I could still make a difference….Hence, teaching! Again, more money or the teaching I love….Love won out. Now you can better understand one of the reasons, though, that my son and I volunteer monthly with at risk youth….Still have that passion to help with that particular population
In essence Areeve, you're doing both, with the majority of your time dedicated to what you love. Now that's a good combination. You chose wisely.
All of this talk about laundry rooms got me curious, so I decided to locate mine. It seems there are two big white machines in there with doors on the front and all kinds of buttons and things. Absolutely fascinating! I'm wondering if there are instruction booklets for them somewhere. Otherwise, it looks like there's no way I'll ever figure out how they work, even if MARY keeps us in here all weekend. At least it appears that one machine dispenses cold water for drinking, and the other puts out heat, and I've got my lemon meringue pie, so I should be good until Monday morning, if necessary.
Oh, but thanks for the reminder, Cami. I've got to sneak out briefly on Saturday evening the 19th to watch the Dream Home Winner's Special. I'm sure MARY won't mind if I leave my post in the laundry room to watch it, do you think?
I'll bet Mary won't be paying much attention to the Dream Home's downstairs living area. We could probably sneak out and watch the special while we party. B)
Cami, do you know if the laundry room is a safe room? Maybe we could hang out in there
until this cloud passes over us. Let's see, 9.0 earthquake, Tsunami, Rain and snow, Radio
active material spewing in the air, yep let's just stay here for the weekend – it's safer. Could
we just bring the TV in here?
I saw that S California is the predicted path for nuclear material, but the winds could change. Experts have said it'll have dissipated enough not to be a problem anyway. I always wonder which room we should all shelter in place in, and ironically it's the laundry room.
I say we bring the flat screen outside from the ski dorm and sit in the hot tub sipping wine and eating Chinese food with fortune cookies while we watch!….First dibs on the hot tub….And the wine fridge xD
Of course I'll have to sneak upstairs to grab a few bottles firstB)
Too funny Coop.
Just some fun thoughts to pass along with the approach of the DH Winner's Special on March 19th: with Dream Home won, and taxes soon to come, it seems that each year around the merry month of March, it's the time of the season ….
And so, in every blog when Spring has sprung, when there's a need for real fun —
with just some simple thoughts in mind, I've penned a few short lines that rhyme.
Beware of Blog Hazards
One:
To troll the blogs, their drive is keen
No rhyme, no reason, just to be mean
Chicken Littles, it's all for spite
To disrupt the chat is their delight
Two:
Nagging naybobs with silly rants
They whine and wail with empty chants
To spoil the day is all they seek
And wallow in the havoc they wreak
Three:
No bigger thrill, or so it seems
Than kill your joy and spill the beans
No fault or blame for those who try
To keep the blogs with thoughts on high
Four:
But just one thing that's hard to take
Is when some folks, with comments make
The job of trolls a lasting one
With tit-for-tat, our fun's undone
Five:
For answer back, you feed the trolls
They suck it up, sad little souls
So when they seek to steal the day
Don't answer back, they'll fade away
Happy Dreams and Healthy Days!
I love your rhyme Coop. It will be interesting to see what comments hit the blogosphere on Monday.
Do you really think they will wait until Monday, SweetLiz? They will probably fire up the blog tomorrow night and on Sunday.
I need to print this poem and put it next to my computer, Coop. I really do try to avoid the trolls, but they try to gobble me up when I cross the bridge. I should just tell them that a bigger billy goat is behind me, and then maybe they will leave me alone. Thanks for the reminder!
1st timee blogin' but I reed the blogs. I think things are figuured out. Sum of U work for HGTV as bloggs. Disspointed the way things ended. It almost souns like u can t wait for blogers to go away after the drawing DBcooper. Yeh and we not are troolls. Is dat wut u think of us?? More HGTV to step on the lesser fourtunate. Not funnie!
Makes me think of Pac Man! I can even hear them gobbling up the little dots!
I am finding just a bit of irony that there would be a vitriolic response to me after I commented on a poem about avoiding trolls. Must be an Alanis Morissette fan, don't you think?
I think you were just the last and closest "Reply" button. Have a wonderful weekend Wyo_Girl. Are you watching the ambush this weekend? I don't get the HGTV channel so I will have to wait for them to post a video. Maybe Cami will give us a blow by blow like she did last year (I think it was Cami).
I think you're right that I was the closest reply button, SweetLiz. It's just funny. I do like it that many of us were accused of working for HGTV. Is there a paycheck that goes with that? Awesome!
I have my DVR set for the late showing of the ambush, so I'll probably watch it Sunday a.m. My guess is that we will be watching college basketball, because we love the NCAA tournament. Even though I will watch it, I'd still like to read Cami's blow by blow. It will be great. Have a wonderful weekend!
What do you think about the Nova loss and the Michigan win, Wyo_Girl? I'm watching the tournament while trying to catch up on the blog .
Actually, I was sad about both, Lessie, because my bracket is looking a little bit worse this morning. I'm in a pool with some former colleagues — there are 167 of us this year, so my chances of winning were slim to begin with! Maybe I'll win the last place consolation prize and get my money back.
Maybe you can win the Dream Home! Oh, I forgot., the M's already won it. Well, sure hope you win the consolation prize and get your money back, Wyo_Girl..
I wish it was me providing the"winner reveal" commentary on the blog. I'm just the one that complains every year that everyone sees it 3 hours before I do. Lessie or CplusE could I think.
No problem Cami, will be happy to keep you updated during the reveal show.
<DIV>It must have been Kathy Seals (aka Sherlock). My mistake…my memory is only good for a month or so (if I'm lucky)!</DIV> <DIV style=”FONT-FAMILY: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; FONT-SIZE: 12pt”> <DIV style=”FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, new york, times, serif; FONT-SIZE: 12pt”>
Is this a test or our first load of laundry?
Great job Coop. Thanks!
I don't remember, for the other winner of the House Warming Gifts, does the ambush team come
again, do you get a call or e-mail before hand ( now that is silly, we are at beforhand)? I'll just
watch tomorrow cause nobody has been here!!!! Gee, I wanted to win somt'in. If not me a hiker
or snow person but a blogger for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For some reason I think that they are announcing the name but not notifying them ahead of time. They'll most likely follow up with a phone call afterwards. Many bloggers wish they had done that with the actual Dream Home winner instead of the way it really happened. I guess the winner of the housewarming gifts doesn't have to meet as many eligibility requirements, so they can just say the name. I suppose we'll see tomorrow night!
That's funny I just assumed they had already been told, (not sure why) I figured I didn't win.
See, you still have a chance!
What is the house warming gift anyway? This is my first year have no ideal what that is about. Please let me know
A couple of months ago we got to vote on a series of housewarming gifts for the winner of the Dream Home. One lucky voter will also be chosen to receive the same gifts. I think there were about ten gift categories, so someone who voted will get ten items. We don't know which gifts won, but here is a list of the 30 possibilities:
http://marketplace.hgtv.com/Search.aspx?Episode=D…
Hopefully HGTV will announce the winning gifts on the special tonight or post them on the website afterwardt!
Thank you CplusE, I couldn't get here any earlier. Good Luck,
Frustrating this BLOG is I deal with appliances all day long and then I come home to a Laundry BLOG..
I wish the way it use to be on here..even if I didn't win I loved the before hand stuff–NOW NOTHING! except wait and see..
"Thanks Mr. Grinch…"
We look forward to celebrating this year’s winner while watching the March 19th special and perhaps enjoying some Ben & Jerry’s! ….. I am already looking forward to 2012!
I was having so much fun looking at the Ethan Allen (“EA”) website earlier. I am envisioning an EA Glamour eight-light silver chandelier over a game table in next year’s living area. And, in the dining room, an EA Belmar ten-light chandelier, along with an EA American Artisan Jeffrey trestle table with complementary American Artisan padback dining chairs in Sherwood dark/multi fabric, and maybe an EA china cabinet with Palladian windows.
A_fan, I think you are an Ethan Allen fan also. Can't go wrong with EA!
Gee, it's March 18th! No Monica Pedersen, no big check, no ambush team, and no cameras. Oh well, guess I didn't win the 2011 Dream Home. Will watch tomorrow to see who won.
This is one way to get out of the laundry room. Soney and I thought this was cute.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sc3NRhqR2ek&fe…
Too funny Alice! That's one way to get out of the laundry room!
LOL ! How did you ever find video of me skiing ?? I have been called a real blockhead on the slopes !
Can't wait for tomorrow
8pm I'll be watching!
My son asked when I'm going to take down my balloons. I thought about it and decided tomorrow is a good day. When is everyone else taking down balloons?
Sorry Lessie, but we took ours down a week ago! :S After they announced the winner they kinda deflated and lost their appeal.
Taking mine down after the show Lucy's owner. Don't know if I'm flying balloons next year. Maybe I'll keep it to $0 investment, but it sure was fun buying and flying balloons.
I have so many balloons up you could float a house.
Why don't you take those balloons and float yourself over to Alice's Restaurant tonight, Janzee? See you there.
I'm floatin right now and better get over there but fast, there's just a few minutes before show time. Wait a minute I can see Mary and Gail, and boy that sure looks like Jack, but how come I see TerryNova, and soneyboy maybe I am on the site of the new dream house. I was never fantastic with directions. Love You!!!1
Just got a text from Mary, A_fan. She said you're the virtual winner of an Ethan Allen whole house makeover. I texted her back and told her that's great news because you've already virtually decorated your home with EA!
I love design! It's always fun to imagine!
You're in the right place A_fan. Everything is possible on this blog.
Wyo_Girl, are you watching the Georgetown VCU game? This is a good one.
She is too busy taunting me with jumbo shrimp! I am making my husband take out for seafood tomorrow and I am tell him it is all Lessie's fault LOL!!
As long as you enjoy it Debra G, it's okay to blame me.
Sorry I wasn't on the blogs last night, Lessie! Looks like I missed a party. I also missed an accurate prediction of the winner of the Georgetown/VCU game. There goes my bracket, again! I didn't miss the game though. Now that they are broadcasting on 4 different channels, we are jumping around to the best game at the moment. I agree with you that it was a good one.
That's why I don't do brackets, Wyo_Girl. Every time I think a team will make it, the M's neighbor shows up and spoils it for me. I did get to watch some good games last night. As for the party, I wanted to see the Super Moon. I went out around 3 AM to watch. It reminded me of early evening instead of 3 AM at night. Glad I saw it. Will watch for it again tonight.
Some bloggers are so smart! They can spot HGTV undercover bloggers. I'm confessing that I do work for HGTV. My HGTV undercover blogger salary is $4,500 per month and I get great benefits. I must log in at least 20 hours a week in order to be paid. Also get 6 weeks vacation every year. I've repeatedly told Jim Samples that my compensation package is much too generous but he wants to increase my monthly salary to $6,000 with at least two trips a year. Alice, the next time Jim is at your restaurant, please tell him he's too generous. This weekend I am reading the blogs to find potential HGTV undercover part-time bloggers. Anyone interested? PSYCH!
Oh, can we start our April Fools stories early this year? Here's my story.. I lied, I actually have 1 husband and 5 kids, and sometimes I have no husband and six kids. Sometimes there's no parents and 7 kids, and that's when we have the most fun. I have ESP and I know who all the HGTV spies are, but I've been sworn to secrecy by an unseen force. Oh, and I freelance part-time using my ESP. The rumors that I'm really a witch are completely false. To be continued………….
You have my permission to start April Fools stories now Cami! Too much time in the laundry room has driven us crazy. Mary see what happens when you leave a blog up too long.
I may as well tell you why Mary has left this blog up so long. According to Jim, at least that's what I heard at Alice's Restaurant, Mary was so furious with the M's neighbor that she flew to Illinois, found the jealous neighbor and threatened to punch him out. He threatened to sue HGTV because he claimed Mary trespassed on his property, even though he didn't have a no trespassing sign posted anywhere. In his attempts to escort Mary from his property, he gently shoved her down his front step. Again Mary's anger flared and she said a few words that I cannot write. Out of the blue, a lady in a white suit appeared and said, "You have a potty mouth," and then offered her some gum. When the story reached Jim at HGTV headquarters, Mary was assigned to the laundry room and hasn't been allowed to come out. That's why we're stuck on this laundry blog so long. Mary is including us in her punishment.
Well I didn't say it, but I thought that us bloggers had done something wrong, and Mary was punishing us. Why else would she leave us in this room. I'm kind of feeling persecuted for crimes I didn't commit. When they finally realize we're all innocent, I think we should be allowed to have a party in the DH before the M family takes possession of the property. There now I feel better.
Cami, you're letting them off the hook too easy. I don't want a party at the Dream Home, I think I'd like the appliances, which includes the washer and dryer, the car, and a renovation of my home. That's enough for now. If the blog doesn't change before the reveal tomorrow, I'll add some other things.
Well since we're just throwin' it out there. My husband tells me he can't fix my car. So now I need a new car.
When negotiating Cami, ask for the sky, then settle for a new car! But not a virtual one!
Would you like to borrow my jet….assuming I can find it again?
I think Cami will want to wait until gas prices come down, Areeve but I'm sure she's grateful for the offer.
Who needs a jet Lessie I will gallop in on my Roy Roger's progeny saving gas and using horse gas for new fuel.
Wow, great perks, Lessie. Where do I sign up? By the way, the six weeks vacation is a must, even though I'd promise to keep blogging from all foreign and domestic locations.
I've been flying under the radar for decades now (in a manner of speaking) so maybe it's time for another gig. Just think, a whole new identity, a fresh start … no more watching my back (or peeking around every corner, which is MARY's job, after all.)
I'm wondering what the qualifications are for such a position, other than the minimum 20 hours per week that you stated, Lessie? Will there be a background check, just like for the Dream Home winner? I have some definite blank areas in certain past years that may be difficult to explain.
Coop, blanks are not a problem for HGTV. Undercover agents have priority status because they know how to keep secrets! Jim Samples personally investigated you, at least that's what I heard at Alice's Restaurant. You are already cleared to be an HGTV undercover blogger. The only hangup is the salary. As soon as Jim determines your salary and compensation package, you'll be offered the job.
Or re-offered the job. With all those blanks he's missing, how does he even know if he wasn't already offered the job. For all we know he could have been offered the job several times already, and completely forgets daily.
That's what CplusE and LLColeman said, Cami. Did you hear their conversation at Alice's? I think Nebraska said the job was offered to to Coop before he left for Thailand. Guess he must have forgotten about it when he returned.
I guess I completely missed that conversation.. Thank goodness for ESP, or I would be completely out of the loop.
Completely forgets daily. Talk about a fresh start. He could start over every day
Don't worry about missing out of any of the conversations in Alice's Restaurant, Cami. With ESP, you're one of the most popular visitors at Alice's. Everyone wants to be next to you. As for Coop forgetting daily, not a problem! Secret agents are trained to forget job offers that may interfere with their jobs.
Hey. Lessie –how did I get mixed up in this, LOL ? I don' know nuttin' and I ain't tellin'……
That one is easy, LL. I know your name. Once I know your name, you're fair game for all blogger stories, especially at Alice's Restaurant! And yes, I will tell about the time you formed a soul train line and had everyone go through it, even DeCoopernova and Ed Bunyun!
Hey cutie pie that's just what grandma used to say when she had a surprise for us. ''I aint tellin notin". This low profile is best in all spy vignettes. I think the sweet and innocents could be the real spies.
Are you still missing most of the 1970's from your memory bank?
I wouldn't know how to change my identity. I am who I am. Sometimes I wish I could be SOMEONE ELSE. Don't we all wish we could have been SOMEONE ELSE. Here we are just being our one and only selves, along with our otherselves of course.
Cami, that reminds me of the time I flew to the moon just to verify a story I heard as a child. You know the one about a cow jumping over the moon. Didn't see the cow but I did see Ed Bunyun and Babe. Babe not only jumped over the moon but he jumped through it too. FYI: There's no cheese on the moon either. The moon is made of white chocolate. If it hadn't been for Ed Bunyun, I would still be there trying to eat my way through it.
BTW: I'm in the process of getting my magic lasso and bracelets cleaned….I'll be traveling in my invisible jet in the morning to retrieve these
CRUD! Where did the jet go?…. Guess I'll just have to take the magic carpet for a ride!
Hey, I have a few magic carpets myself.. I thought I was the only one.
Sign of a true undercover blogger, you know;)
Yipes, I have no magic carpet. Guess I'm not a true undercover blogger. You blew my cover, Areeve!
Nice try, Lessie! Spoken like a true undercover blogger! We all know there are other signs….
I gotta learn all the true undercover blogger signs Areeve. If you know them, you're probably an undercover HGTV blogger too.
I'll never tell:p;)B)
See, that's why you probably don't remember where you left your jet. Keeping too many secrets has finally taken its toll. Spill the beans and you may remember!
LOL! It must be the girdle that's forcing everything upwards Areeve. Take it off and sit a spell. You'll remember again!
You know….The outfit USED to fit without the use of a crowbar!
ROFL! I understand Areeve. If I tried to put on my outfit, I'm sure it would cut off my circulation. Oh what it could be or should be is not what it IS!
Areeve, where did you get your magic carpet? I tried using "Magic" on my carpet but it stunk up the place. Had to throw it out. Still trying to figure out who shaves with it.
Superman, of course….I hear he buys these at wholesale from Aladin's Genie, although that hasn't been officially confirmed.
You're absolutely right, Areeve. Superman can do anything!
Areeve, you must be in awesome shape! Ain't enough money in the world to make me get in that outfit. There's only so much girdles can do. Besides I gotta breathe too. Hope you find your magic lasso and bracelets soon.
The magic lasso will really come in handy when we are trying to find the location for DH 2012:)
Sure will, especially when we visit Jack T's office and the location site. So glad you're blogging, Areeve. We would never have been able to do this without your help.
Lessie, are you having some "w i n e" with that shrimp…?? But, if that is true about the moon being white chocolate and all, I am going there tomorrow. Besides, Coop, Cami, and I are going to need a new place to live when the next quake hits. The moon made of white chocolate sounds like a good alternative.
That is until the BC drawing. Then I am moving in to that one. Because it is in Virginia. And, we all know I LOVE Virginia. And historical places. And old homes. Especially old homes in Virginia that have been renovated into beautiful, relaxing places with spectacular views of the coast. Did I mention i am entering that on a gazillion times…?
"W i n e" with my shrimp, Debra G? Only the best! You're going to love your trip to the moon. Tell everyone I said hello. You'll also love living in Susan. Virginia is a great area. Will check it out to make sure it's everything you're hoping for.
Entering a gazillion times may not win the BC for you, but I'm sure a gazillion plus one times will!
Righty O, then… A gazillion plus one LOL! Would you like me to bring back a white chocolate bunny for you? From the moon, that is… While I'm on my trip killing time until BC goes operative…
I would love one Debra G….Do you mind picking up two?
I came back with a dozen! Anyone else looking for white chocolate bunnies?
Honestly, I was hoping you would swing by mars and pick up some decadent milk chocolate truffle bunnies. I guess it's too late.:(
I'll be making another trip. I need to escape before the next temblor hits!!! Plus, I can think of at least two or three people who would prefer I go there, anyway LOL. Truffle bunnies-check
Debra G, add my name to the list on your next trip. As for those who would prefer that you go there, if it's not for decadent milk chocolate truffle bunnies, don't listen to them.
Awe, thanks! I will bring back lots of extras! Besides, I have to have plenty of goodies for the baskets of my granddaughter and nieces! They are counting on me!!
Thanks Debra. So many are depending on you. I know you won't let us down.
Roger! Now for the payload re-entry calculation… Yup, 10K bunnies will fit!
Too funny Debra. Payload must be exact so your re-entry is successful. So glad the chocolate bunnie will fit! They make your trip worthwhile!
Great idea, Cami. I think I'd like some of those decadent milk chocolate truffle bunnies also.
You're the winner, Debra as long as you include the plus one. I'd love a chocolate bunny from the moon. There's no better chocolate anywhere. Enjoy your visit!
Coop & I ,and any other Californios are in more immediate danger-today's news had a report from a USGS scientist who claimed CA may very well have a quake in the next week. (No mention of this on the USGS website, though )
Coop, make sure you wear a helmet to bed, and stay away from brick walls in near future !
Between the Tsunami, quakes, finding out PG &E is responsible for monitoring CA's nuclear reactors, and the mess that is known as CA government, I am ready to move to VA myself ! ( I hear Mathews Co. is full of old Victorian houses in need of TLC there.)
Well, I am putting some stock in that one now. Our little Jake the Wonder Dog has had three seizures in the last 24 hours, including half an hour ago, hence I am up and awake:-\ (he usually goes a month between them). He has been acting strangely for several days. Something is most definitely up…
Debra– I 'm so sorry to hear about Jake…it is hard to see our doggies go through that. I had a 90 lb. Rhodesian Ridgeback who suffered from those. So you think Jake is picking up on something earth tremor-y ?
It is so hard to watch them go through these things
it is hard enough with a small dog, and clean up. I cannot imagine having a 90 pounder to try and manage! The daily meds do a pretty good job of contolling things, but not in the past 24 hours, so yes, I beginning to think it could be something bigger…
Debra G, thinking about you and Jake. How is he doing today? How are You doing? My heart is going out to you….I know Jake is family, and this has to be so hard to go through.
Thank you so much for your thoughts for Jake:) He is OK other than being completely mixed up today. He keeps trying to tell us something, we're just not sure what that is. I hope he doesn't have a headache or pulled a muscle. With these things you never know… I will tell him how all the nice BC bloggers are thinking of him, though:) That alone will make him feel better!
I missed this comment the first time I read through here (so many comments my brain got confused I'm afraid). I hope Jake is doing better now — he is lucky to have you there for him. My riding buddy has a dog with the same problem, and all the family can do for her is make sure she doesn't hurt herself, clean up, and then reassure her as she comes out of it. I have an old horse with progressive inflammatory bowel disease who needs to be medicated every day and fed four small meals a day — not an easy schedule, but he has lived far longer than anyone predicted, or than any other horse with the same diagnosis for that matter. I just consider him my "big science experiment". Since there is no treatment protocol right now for his condition my vet and I just wing it — we will see how long we can keep him alive and healthy, and someone may be able to put our findings to good use in the future. He is an excellent patient and has always been a great horse that anyone could ride, so I am willing to do this for him as long as it works. I know you are just as fond of Jake, and I know he is grateful for your love and care!
Thanks, CplusE:-) Jake is sitting by my side right now (on one of his special pillows) and is trying to read all the comments on my computer screen LOL. Jake had a tough start in life so we really try to make things as comfortable as possible. We adopted him from the shelter after he was dropped off underweight and with a shattered hind leg. He had no name and was scheduled for euthanizing because the shelter could not care for him. Now he is the little king of the neighborhood! My husband and I often marvel at how Jake came into our lives, and we were meant to be together:-D
CplusE, love has no limits. That's not a science experiment, it's a labor of love.

Some have said that animals know what's happening before humans. You guys take care of yourselves. It's not too soon to have an escape or evacuation plan. Sure hope Jake is better soon.
Thank you, Jake is resting comfortably, now:-) The poor little fellow is really tired… (so is his mom!)We are all over the EQ prep thing. My husband is the director for the department of transportation and development for the county, and on the emergency management team. We are ready to the best of our ability (with no warning you're never really ready).I'm just hoping that if the BIG one hits, it happens while he is home. Otherwise, I won't see him for weeks. His office is over the river and through the woods. They'll have to rebuild the bridge before he gets back home:{
So glad that Jake is resting comfortably. Hope both of you get much needed rest.
So glad you're prepared for emergency situations. Let's hope the big one doesn't hit soon and that whatever hits, your husband is home until all of you are safely moved to another area.
I've gotten used to a lot of things here in Oregon (perpetual rain, grey everything, and two seasons-warm rain and cold rain), but the EQ thing I will never get used to!
My first really significant quake was the Spring Break quake of 1996. Spring break starts on Monday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the imminent EQ predictions for the west coast are wrong…
And THAT is just one of the many wonderful reasons I am in LOVE with VA!!! Going to my bubble of safety now…LOL!!=/
Please be safe! Will be praying for you!
Wow, LL, I need to check out that info. Sure don't want you and all the other CA residents to experience anything like that. Maybe it's time for you to visit your East Coast relatives.
I would, Lessie, but they are over in Ireland this week, LOL
Hey Coop, noticed you were MIA after this comment. Just checking to see if the Super Moon had any effect on your SuperNova status. Since Areeve couldn't find her jet, there was no way for us to get to San Diego in time to witness the event.
Lessie Jimmy was here at the restaurant and he told Soney and me what a good job you are doing and he is sticking to the $6,000 a month. We would apply for the undercover part-time bloggers job but don't think we would qualify. Besides we love working in our restaurant. Take the money you deserve it!
Alice, you're the greatest! Thanks for letting me know that Jim is thrilled with my work. If it's okay with you, I think I'll set up an HGTV blogging booth at your restaurant. Nothing like having fun and working at the same time!
The REAL undercover blogger is on the video provided by Alice above….Check it out….Very clever….Even has great disguises!
OR…..was that really SOMEONE ELSE in disguise?B)
I believe it's Super Washer, Areeve! If it wasn't white, I'd say it might have been me without a girdle!
The Adventures of Super Washer!
You know….He puts a whole new spin on life….xD
Until all the lost socks rebel and cause him to become unbalanced.
Oh, but then Super Washer rocks and rolls, shimmies and shakes, and gets it all worked out! He has that way about him you know….his jobs always turn out clean and tidy….naught a speck out of place, no matter how dirty a job he has!
Sounds like a bout of diarrhea to me, Areeve. Or probably a washer colonoscopy. Oh my goodness, I'm not talking about Super Washer. It's his cousin, Half-a-Spin, sometimes known as water logged.
There's always one in every family!
Yes, how disappointing when there's so much new technology now. Guess that's the same thing counselors say when evaluating clients.
areeve04–, groan !; you too, Lessie ! LOL This is PUN ishing !
LL, you ain't seen nothing yet. I think it's about time for a story about you.
I'm game;)
LOLLOLOLOOLLOL
I didn't watch the video cause most of the time videos spend the whole time buffering. Now that I've seen it I'm a little freaked out. We aren't alone in this laundry room. The washers and dryers have been listening in on our conversations the whole time. No wonder Mary has left us in here for so long. She's having way to much fun spying on us with her little friends washer and dryer.
The more I think about it, I really think that was SOMEONE ELSE!B)
The revenge of the washer and dryer. Well, let's have blogger revenge and turn off the electricity! We'll show them who's really in control!
For REGULAR washers this might work. However, it is my understanding that Super Washer is a new Lean, Mean, Fighting, Green Machine….He works on solar power:)
Oh my goodness, we're at Super Washer's mercy. No wonder he can ski and sun bathe. Wonder if he has any other super relatives?
He comes from a fine lineage!
That's what Alice said. Eve, Adam's wife, used his super great, great, great grandfather for all her laundry needs. Even heard Noah's wife brought him along on the ark. Nothing like Super Washer's lineage.
EXCEPT…..It was Noah's wife on the ark when it happened! THAT side of SW's family then became water logged….Hence, half-spin, the cousin.
Ah, it all makes sense now Areeve. Thanks for giving me the 411.
Cami, it was secret video of Super Washer on the ski slopes….literally:)
Is this my punishment for parking over in the land of BC in Virginia?? CLEARLY I missed something! But as for Cami's post, I can attest this is actually pretty accurate. The part about the family members that is… But, all this clandestine stuff, what on earth???
Clandestine stuff, Debra G. No, it's not that at all. We prefer calling it "going with the flow." If you prefer, you can also call it, "liar, liar, pants of fire."
DBCoopernova just flew in to visit for a spell here at the restaurant and put a nickel in the juke box and Soney and Terrinova are dancing up a storm this place is a rockin! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EpP9DPZ0Xo&fe…
Still can't find the darn jet, Alice! I'll be right over on my magic carpet….trading in my red boots for my gogo boots!
"Gogo boots," Areeve. What's your bottle color and who's your master? Love all the things you can do.
Alice, you really know how to capture the "essence" of blogger conversations. Your link sums it up well. Tell DeCoopernova hello and I'll try my best to see him tomorrow. Can't wait to get to the restaurant.
At the restaurant with Alice, Soney, Coop, Terri, and SW….Whew! SW sure can dance! Spun me around and around on the dance floor! I'd love to stay, but need to take the carpet home and get some sleep. Thanks for the dance every bloggie!
Sure sounds like SW is good at spinning, Areeve. Hope you don't head in the wrong direction on your trip home.
I think I need to sleep on this tonight. If it still sort of makes sense tomorrow, I will know I and my blogger friends were abducted by the little grey men from one planet over. Coop did mention something about time. Though as I remember there are many things better forgotten about the 70s anyway (my senior prom date being one of them)!
A good night's rest always clears the mind when bloggers get stir crazy, Debra. Anything is possible when blogging!
Actually, it is a conspiracy….It all started when the aliens abducted Elvis….You know he is still alive, right?
I had my picture taken with him last year and he sang a song to me! Yes, the King is most definitely alive!
Some say he's the man in the moon, but that's not true. He just visits there ocassionally.
Don't feel bad, I missed out on Alice's restaurant, so I'm just going with the flow.
Missed out, Cami? What do you mean, I saw you at Alice's Restaurant yesterday. You were serving pie topped with Ben and Jerry's.
OK, I might as well come clean — not only do I work for HGTV, I OWN IT! I am also responsible for the Supermoon tonight, but I refuse to accept responsiblity for recent natural disasters. And BTW, not only is the Supermoon made entirely of white chocolate, it is also the place where lost socks go, and is the current home of Elvis. There, now I feel better! Like they say, eventually it all comes out in the wash! o.0xD:p
Isn't it good to let it all hang out, CplusE? Finally I know someone who's famous, even if it's virtually. Your work on the Super Moon was fabulous, just fantastic. I enjoyed watching it last night after blogging. Sure wish I could have been on, enjoying the white chocolate. It's Areeve's fault. After putting on her uniform with a crow bar, she wasn't able to think right. Maybe today she'll remember where she left her jet.
Hey tootse to add to the craziness, I found a cool talking dog video since I am supposed to be the dog whisperer, and you'll hear my laugh in the background lol
Here it is: utubehilarious talking dog video- make sure it's the one that starts with your bulldog saying "I lovee you mama".
Will definitely check it out Janzee. I'll tell you about it when we meet up at Alice's Restaurant tonight.
As long as you're looking at chairs and fabrics would you find me the magical yellow chair that's in the gathering room of the current DH,
Cami, I had noticed earlier that there was no information for your magical yellow chair. Maybe our fearless and loyal blog leader can shed some light on the details for you!
Ohhhh y'all are so funny.. I WANT THE 6 weeks vacation!!!~This year I will be entitled to 3 weeks vacation BUT 6..I want in Lessie! What the heck did you do to get 6????
BTW What was that show years and years ago with Gary Moore? ..Could it be "I've Got a Secret??"
Guess what? :::::STANDING UP FROM MY COMPUTER CHAIR::::
I am really the "HGTV Undercover Blogger…."
*SMILE*
Cindy, the clue to getting 6 weeks vacation as an undercover HGTV blogger is embellishment! If you're good at embellishing, you get 2 weeks. If you're really good, you get 3-4 weeks. If you're outstanding at embellishing, you get 5-6 weeks. Guess I've topped out at 6 weeks. The next time I see Jim at Alice's Restaurant, will try to renegotiate my contract and get 8 weeks vacation now that I know ou're the REAL HGTV Undercover Blogger.
Mary, help–people are LOSING it over here !
Spoken like a true undercover bloggerxDB)
What's she going to do, LL? Give us a new blog! If so, our super blog strategy worked.
Lessie, I hear that Jon's dimples and Roman Candles are involved, (with some of James Brown's music in the background.)… if AnneEliseSouth's idea for Country Western lyrics don't work out…………
This is a wow factor! Just for one moment in time think about the families that have struggle. The problem with people nowadays is greed. Take a minute and realize that their is some homeless person walking around praying for a miracle while your handed a second one and giggling about it. You can’t even imagine what’s it’s like to have nothing! So please don’t laugh and make jokes somebodys dream of having a home for once in their life has been destroyed. It isn’t funny nor will it ever be. I wish I would have seen a person who truly needed a home receive a home. Maybe one day hgtv will acknowledge the poor and give them a real chance at living a dream. Until then let’s keep handing out vacation homes.
Since our dryer is on strike I ended up going to a laundromat yesterday to dry all of the clothes stranded in the washing machine. We live in such a small town I had the place all to myself, so it wasn't really all that bad. I haven't been to a laundromat in decades! If we must be stuck in a laundry room all weekend, I would opt for that laundromat — it is in the back of a building that houses the best restaurant in town. The restaurant is run by a former opera singer-turned-chef, so both the food and the music are excellent (it could give Alice's restaurant a run for its money!). All I need to do is drag a TV into the laundromat and I can watch the Dream Home special tonight in comfort and style — I just need to remember to post the "closed" sign on the laundromat door so I won't be disturbed by pesky neighbors attempting to do their laundry!
CplusE, it's definitely time for you to take another trip to Alice's Restaurant. Nothing real or imagined can compete with it, especially for bloggers. I know it's not you talking, it's just that you're caught up in the laundry blues. Mary, Mary…please rescue CplusE by posting a new blog.
You're right, Lessie, it's time to leave the laundry behind and join the wacky and wonderful crowd at Alice's restaurant! Since areeve has finally found her jet maybe she would consider giving me a ride. I promise to sing just like Kate Winslet (didn't even know she could sing!). And if things really start to get wild, maybe I'll sing this one too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0qkUIFEtXM&fe…
Oh, we're in for a fun time tonight!
Maybe you can show up tonight on your horse Cplus E and i'll loan you my one hundered baloons and we can start a parade. Miss TerrierNova and your rotund burro can be the mascots.
