  1. In 2012, maybe the kitchen will feature Ethan Allen photographer’s pendants as well as a quilted stainless steel backsplash. By the way, I absolutely loved the acid-stained and stamped concrete floors recently shown on the HGTVPro website. Talk about super dog-friendly, too!

From a purely practical perspective, I am hopeful that the ceilings won’t be quite as high on the next go-round, so as to reign in heating and cooling costs. Can’t wait to find out the location for 2012! Shine on!

    • Good points, A_fan. Let's see if anyone reads and follows your advice.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 1:34 pm
      • I have every confidence in Jack and Linda and the Dream Team! I am sure whatever they come up with for 2012 will be great! I always pick up so many great design tips from HGTV.

  2. Hey! Y'all move over. I need to do my laundry now!

funfordot on March 19, 2011 at 10:19 am
    • Not a problem, Funfordot. The laundry room is yours!!!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 1:35 pm
    • Will you do mine too?;):pxD

      areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 2:58 pm
    • Don't let the trolls out unless they are completely stain free.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 3:09 pm
    • Funfordot–2nd day in the laundry room requires a food fight ! What refreshments do you plan on bringing to eat between cycles ?

LLColeman on March 20, 2011 at 1:29 am
      • oooooo how about some ice cream with oooey gooey caramel sauce

funfordot on March 20, 2011 at 2:49 pm
        • funfordot–I brought protective ponchos (so we don't need to do extra laundry) and several cream pies for the food fight–your ice cream/caramel sauce, we will just have to eat that first !

LLColeman on March 21, 2011 at 12:29 am
          • I think the others didn't want to join since it took so long for me to get the ice cream there. lol

funfordot on March 21, 2011 at 1:20 am
  3. OK, I know the undercover blogger!

What if— the whole “Makstenieks” thing was a RED HERRING?
What if— “Eric” is the undercover blogger?! Paid to take the hit as the premature winner, just to throw us all off balance.
What if— this was a wonderfully choreographed ruse…? All this just so HGTV could switch-up their format this year. Because this is the year they once again surprise the winner live on the reveal.
What if— the true winner is a blogger? Admittedly, we were all on such alert, there was no way a crew could surprise one of us, right?

    So, what if…?!

    LOL

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 10:42 am
    • Wow, I don’t remember typing any of the above post. I must have been taken over by a being from the land of “What If”.
…Maybe I should preface for you doubters out there, let me tell you…It really does exist. Creatures from this faraway fantasy land are actual living, breathing, beings. I am visited quite often by three of them. They are friendly, chatty, entities that love to talk, and talk, and talk, and spend time on things that could never really happen. Yet they seem to take pleasure in spending insane amounts of time discussing impossible scenarios.

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 10:43 am
      • I think they have visited me too, Zip….usually when I should be doing more important things.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 1:39 pm
    • Sadly, I cannot tell you what they look like, because they take on the form of real children. I’m even starting to suspect, at times, that they inhabit the same body as my children. Sometimes, it’s only for a brief moment. Other times, they stay forever!!
–OK, I exaggerate. Its probably only hours, but it seems like eternity…! lol

So I’m here to say, the land of ‘What If” really does exist….

This post has nothing to do with the April Fools timing…

      **snicker, snicker**

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 10:43 am
    • Love your what if's, Zip. You forgot the most important one of all…..What if all you said is TRUE?!!!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 1:37 pm
      • Oh! My dear Lessie, they've invaded your home too…fight Lessie, fight!

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 2:06 pm
        • No need to fight, Zip. They came, looked, and left. Was it something I said?

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 2:22 pm
      • The "what ifs" are constantly lurking around here too, but the "why nots" rule the day, after day, after day. "How comes" come around just about every hour too. Yep, I feel sorry for anyone who have deal with these three "what nots"

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 2:11 pm
        • I've found that the "because" clan can usually keep them in line!

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 2:14 pm
          • My "becauses" must be pretty weak, cause they don't keep any of those "what nots" from pestering me all day. ;)

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 2:21 pm
          • Cami, if the because clan is not strong enough, ask the "I said" coalition to join in. I've found some success using the "because I said" force. Although, I have lost a skirmish or two…they seem be be getting smarter in the "What If" camp.

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 2:28 pm
          • I don't know why, but the "I saids" always seem to follow the "becauses" but they still don't stand a chance against the constant barrage of "why nots" and "how comes", even when I put my foot down.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 2:51 pm
          • Wear BIGGER BOOTS!!

(you so make me laugh, thanks.)

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 4:18 pm
        • Ah, you've given me the reason why their visits are short at my house. I hate things that collect dust! Any dust collector, including "what nots," are not welcome in my home!!! Thanks Cami!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 2:25 pm
          • There are so many "What nots" hiding in my house Lessie I gave up long ago. Some day my "what nots" will be limited to my liking too.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 2:29 pm
          • See, there is one of my problems. My "What If's" are disguising themselves as locals…sneaky little things.

Wonder if they are the same ones sneaking the cookies?!

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 2:31 pm
    • zipdedoda how did you know that C&E was singing this song this very moment at the restaurant? She is very shy about her singing ability but she can really sing. She wanted to take a break from the farm and join us in watching HGTV give away our beautiful dream home. We have several tvs located all around becase we expect a large crowd to pack our little restaurant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vId_4r925o&fe

alicesoneysmom on March 19, 2011 at 2:45 pm
      • One of your patrons leaked the info…or should I say it was "trending", lol.
Your place seems to be the "hip and happening" spot. It was inevitable that the topic would jump over to the blog.
        :)

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 4:17 pm
      • You amaze me Alice. Every time you quickly identify the pulse of the blog with a link from your favorite source. Surely you're the blog sentinel.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 5:58 pm
    • After all this talk, I think I'd rather concentrate on the "what ifs". The "why nots" and "how comes" make me sick to my stomach.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 2:55 pm
      • I'm with you!
"What Ifs" have an entertainment factor…when not inhabiting the body of a six year old, lol

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 4:12 pm
  4. Wow, so many blog comments since I was on yesterday afternoon. Looks like I missed a huge party in the laundry room last night. I know that most parties end up in the kitchen, but I didn't know they moved on to the laundry room. Guess I usually go home too early. So, did you drink Wash Tub Punch? Yummmm, but I hope you had a designated driver!

    Wyo_Girl on March 19, 2011 at 11:21 am
    • You missed the blogger (who shall remain nameless) who put a laundry basket instead of a lampshade on their head! I must admit that when Coop and Lessie decided to lead a pre-HGTV special blogger song-and-dance routine I took the opportunity to bow out — I have the sort of voice only off-key cats can love, and Deerspring's chimps doing an Irish jig have it all over me when it comes to dancing!

CplusE on March 19, 2011 at 12:30 pm
      • ROFL! You may have bowed out of the singing and dancing CplusE, but we all know that was you with a laundry basket on your head! Your impersonations were fantastic!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 1:47 pm
        • Awww, Lessie, you let the off-key cat out of the laundry bag!xD

CplusE on March 19, 2011 at 3:44 pm
          • But I didn't share the details of the limbo contest or how you won, even with the laundry bag on your head. CplusE, you will be the talk of the town for quite a while!!!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:04 pm
    • Wyo, haven't you heard ? The party in the laundry room is still going ! There is a tv for viewing HGTV specials, and a food fight is planned in case we get bored….. Oooo someone is going to make Washtub Punch, (whatever that is–do I really want to know ? )

LLColeman on March 20, 2011 at 1:33 am
      • You probably don't want to know, but I am pasting in the recipe from Cooks.com anyway! I really don't like the idea of leaving that smashed fruit out overnight, and it also seems to take a couple of days to prepare. Our laundry room party was more spontaneous than that!

        WASH TUB PUNCH
        10 grapefruit
        4 bunches of bananas
        A few fresh mint leaves
        8 doz. oranges
        4 doz. lemons
        6 doz. limes
        1 doz. fifths Rhine wine
1 fifth dark planters rum punch
        6 fifths light rum

Smash fruit and leave overnight. In the morning take out the rinds and put in wine. Chill mixture at this point. On the second day (3-4 hours before the party), add rum and mint. Serves a lot!!

        Wyo_Girl on March 20, 2011 at 11:57 am
        • Snuggle, the fabric softening Bear, drank up all the leftover punch and I found him passed out in the laundry room.

LLColeman on March 21, 2011 at 12:35 am
  5. Every year same —- just another year of it!!! We believe get our hopes up and here it comes a huge let down then I read all the moans!!! Then again onto the green home and for more hopes, prayers, dreams and huge let downs and more moans then there's always next year or the year after that or the year after that. Is this fun or sad? Depends on how crazy you really are. I've sat back and read the blogs this year and many years before and again always the same —-! I would of loved to win but if I were in Vegas gambling on these odds to help my life out and solve my financial problems seriously folks these odds suck!!! I enter every year and if it happens, it happens, but I'm not banking my life on it nor would I bet on it. Yes I would love to see a person who needs it win it, someone who doesn't have a home, someone who lost their job or who's job hours have been cut and are having trouble feeding their family, making bills or someone with health problems not so much someone that can afford to keep it I like the underdog story the happy ending for someone in need. Seriously folks think about it how many viewers watch hgtv majority have homes considering it's a home improvement network so the odds tell me more than likely it will be a homeowner not me. I enter but I don't bank on it because I can only depend on me to make my life better and to achieve my dreams not hgtv so enter like you set a timer set it forget it till the timer goes off or the doorbell rings! It might happen 1 in 80,000,000 but more than likely the odds say it might not. Thanks for the chance hgtv and congrats to the winner!

    danali1 on March 19, 2011 at 11:45 am
    • AMEN !!! You said it, we all love to dream, but we cannot get so obsessed with winning.

gremol on March 19, 2011 at 3:11 pm
    • Funny danali, you are the name of a teenager in a script I've written. It took this kid a wayward gambling foray to finally wake up and realize that each of us has already won.

Janzee on March 21, 2011 at 1:34 am
      • Does the teenager in your script want to run away hide or just blow bubbles all day long and never grow up! Sounds familiar and I agree if you wake up at all you've won much more than some another chance!

        danali1 on March 23, 2011 at 10:19 pm
        • Good question danali. As a former newspaper correspondent, I spent three years of my life watching these kids blow bubbles, hide out from parents, run from the police and a whole host of things. And you know the sad part is that they are basically good kids, that just want beat the system.

Janzee on March 24, 2011 at 12:53 am
  6. Hmm, something supernatural took over the blogs last night. And they say a full moon doesn't affect human behavior! As I read the previous posts, I kept hearing that eerie music from the Twilight Zone in the background. Yet, suddenly, all has gone strangely quiet.

DBCoop on March 19, 2011 at 12:43 pm
    • Can't you feel the pull of the Super Moon, Coop? It's still around tonight so expect the unusual on the HGTV reveal show.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 1:51 pm
    • You're right Coop. Thought you might like this:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0C48IlIMIQ

If Rod Serling shows up on this blog I'm outta here! :o

CplusE on March 19, 2011 at 3:49 pm
        • You can thank Coop for that, CplusE, but not tonight. He has a dinner party this evening, but I'm sure he'll be back on the blog tomorrow…..sometime.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:11 pm
  7. Something's up, I just know it. Something big. If I had to guess (I don't, but I will anyway) I'd say it's the calm before the storm. You know, that dramatic finish of all that's Dream Home 2011, with the televised winner's special tonight. Forget the laundry room — the place to be this evening is in front of the TV, tuned in to HGTV. Be there, or beware!

DBCoop on March 19, 2011 at 12:44 pm
    • OK, is this really Coop or is this a body snatched Coop…a doppelganger "What If",

I'm thinking there is a "What If" hiding in there somewhere…

      Lessie, what do you think?

zipdedoda on March 19, 2011 at 2:13 pm
      • I agree Zip. Since he won't be on the blog tonight, we can roast the heck out of him and he'll never know until tomorrow. Just waiting for the light of the Super Moon to get started!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:13 pm
    • What kind of something up are you talking about, Coop? I fear I'll miss it anyway, since my special won't be until 8 PT. How come you get to watch yours at 5PT?

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 2:33 pm
      • Cami on the main page, it said the reveal is at 8 e/p. Does that mean 5 your time or 8 your time?

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:14 pm
        • It means 8 my time. I looked it up on the HGTV channel, and confirmed it. Bummer, It's been like this since the last live surprise. 3 hours late.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 7:04 pm
          • Not a problem Cami. I'll give you updates.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 7:11 pm
          • Cami, I guess the HGTV show time depends on the cable company and the package they offer customers. I can get HGTV on two channels. One of them shows HGTV, as you say, with a three hour delay, at 8 pm Pacific Time. The high definition channel plays the programs at East Coast times, so I'm able to watch the Special at 5 pm PT, or any other program, at the same time as folks in the East have it on their TV.

DBCoop on March 20, 2011 at 12:15 pm
      • Hey Cami–if you have satellite service, it broadcasts most shows at eastern time– I watched the show in CA at 5:00 p.m. (Nice most of the time, except if something I want to see comes on at 4 a.m.)

LLColeman on March 20, 2011 at 1:43 am
  8. By the way, as LLColeman mentioned, California may APPEAR to be terra firma, but it's actually a moving target. (No wonder I like it here — the Golden though somewhat tarnished State and I have much in common.) Thanks for the warning from the USGS scientist, but a day without a quake in CA is like a day without sunshine — a very rare occurance.

As of midnight, we've had 10 quakes in the area, and a total of 84 for the week — all less than 3.0 however. Since I've recently had the larger pieces of furniture secured to the walls, I should be okay, assuming that the walls hold up.

Guess I'll go back and hang out in the laundry room until the HGTV special comes on the high def channel at 5 pm this afternoon.

DBCoop on March 19, 2011 at 1:04 pm
    • LOL! You and the state of California do have a lot in common, Coop! You both like to be on the move and both like to shake things up!

CplusE on March 19, 2011 at 1:13 pm
      • Good points CplusE!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 2:07 pm
        • Since I like to talk about all the people I have been lucky to see live in concert in bygone days– I got to see Otis Redding sing "Shake" also, at Monterey Pop Festival ( I know I mentioned him before in past blogs doing "Try a Little Tenderness ")
Now I can't get " Shake " out of my head…. that was the song he opened his set with…

LLColeman on March 20, 2011 at 1:48 am
    • Too funny Coop. Seems like there's no need to give a minute-by-minute update since we'll all be watching together.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 2:07 pm
    • Coop, did you see the ring of fire piece on TV? From the progression, the NW is next. YOU have one more to go before it comes your way-according to the experts LOL! I seriously cannot get to the east coast soon enough!!!

      Debra G. on March 19, 2011 at 2:39 pm
      • Run, Debra, run. Follow my friend Forrest and he'll get you to the east coast.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:17 pm
        • Haha! Believe me, we are working on it! Our window of time is very narrow, now;-)

          Debra G. on March 19, 2011 at 6:37 pm
          • Just as long as you're safe Debra, that's great, especially if you're working with a very narrow window.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 7:15 pm
          • We restocked our EQ larder, water supply, and have our first aid kits at the ready. Of course all of this means it will sit there and nothing will happen, my intention in the first place LOL!! As for the window of time, my husband can retire at any time so it is just a matter making of taking a deep breath and circling a date on the calendar;-) I'm thinking something around, oh, say October'ish, haha!!

            Debra G. on March 19, 2011 at 7:40 pm
          • Good for you, Ms. Debra ! Let us know if you open a bed & breakfast out there in VA so I can (over)stay there, LOL…
I hope your doggie has been feeling better today….(FYI– Internet information being what it is, you can take or leave this)–I read on a veterenarian site that there is evidence that Rosemary stimulates seizure activity (or could worsen an existing condition). Since the herb is used in so many dog treats and dog breath products, it is worth checking out in case there is something to it….

LLColeman on March 20, 2011 at 1:57 am
          • Thanks for the tip LLColeman. He is on a super strict diet and sadly no doggie treats, but it is good to know in case we are looking at food options again for him. Who knew? Rosemary of all things! And of course, the Gilmour abode will have lots of room! If someone comes knocking on my door from DIY come October, I plan on having an honest to goodness blogger buddy party at Twin Coves when the weather gets nice! Of course that means we will have to have CherylK come early and help me whip up some of her special recipes!!!

            Debra G. on March 20, 2011 at 2:13 am
  9. Well, getting anxious to watch the reveal show. I think it'll be exciting to watch and hopefully they don't give much after thought to the anonymous blogger that spoiled the previous week. The NCAA tournaments heating up with round 2 of the games (GO Duke Blue Devils). Hey Wyo, you've got to admit they look pretty scary with the return of their point guard Irvin. Could a repeat be in the making?? Time will tell, but they traditionally don't do well in the West bracket. Wishing you guys the best and it's been a lot of fun!! Lucy gives a big, "Woof Ruff". Congrats to the Masteneik's and wish you a lot of happiness!!

Lucyourdog on March 19, 2011 at 1:11 pm
    • I think Duke will win their region, but I just don't think they're strong enough for Ohio State in the final four first game. I could be wrong, though, as I have been troubled by many upsets that I didn't predict so far, and other upsets that weren't that upsetting! I may have a better chance of winning the housewarming gifts than I have of winning my NCAA pool!

      Wyo_Girl on March 19, 2011 at 4:41 pm
      • Lol, you're funny as usual. Wyo girl. I agree Ohio State is good but I'm putting you on the bench for that comment about Duke, LOL. The soup Natzi on Jerry Seinfield Show once put it bluntly, "No Soup for You"!! As for my prediction, if Duke doesn't win…Connecticut Huskies. Awesome guard play and a decent front court. But, my brackets are a mess as well; so, What do I know =/. Hopefully you win the house warming gifts!!

Lucyourdog on March 19, 2011 at 5:00 pm
      • Now that's desperate, Wyo_Girl. We know the odds of winning HGTV gifts, 1 in 25+ million, but you should have much better odds in winning your NCAA pool. Well, the good part is it's okay to lose with HGTV because dreaming is free.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:23 pm
  10. Generations and generations…..Ancient Chinese secret with fortune cookies, though.B);)xD

    areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 2:39 pm
    • That's better than the Wash Tub Punch, Areeve! Now all the bloggers will want your fortune cookies. You should have gone along with the Wash Tub Punch because everyone thinks their recipe is better. :)

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:07 pm
  11. YES! Found the jet! Here's the plan for tonight….I'll be happy to fly by and pick up anyone that wants to join the DH Party. We'll make a quick stop in NYC for great Chinese food and fortune cookies. Then, a hop, skip, and a jump to Vermont. The flat screen from the ski dorm will come outside just for tonight, and we'll watch the special while relaxing in the hot tub eating our Chinese food and sipping wine…..Remember….I DO get first dibs on the hot tub and wine fridge:) Do you think we can persuade John to allow us to help with the special and stay for a while?

    areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 3:10 pm
    • Of course, if Gidding doesn't allow us, I do have sources that can provide enough invisibility cloaks for all….We should be set in any case;)

      areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 3:22 pm
      • We're in areeve04! Let me call for a babysitter and a doggy sitter. The Hot tube is yours but I will help you with all that wine; after all, it sure seems like the refrigerator is stocked. Shux….I just remembered that our local airport is too small to land a jet. Hmmmm, do you still have that magic carpet?? Maybe, next year. ;) Have fun to all those that attend. It's going to be a couch party for us tonight. :)

        • Lucyourdog…No worries! My jet is equipped with special features where I can actually land in your yard.;)

          areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 4:22 pm
          • LOL, I'd like to see that happen :S You might sink in all that snow. But, it's the thought that counts areeve04. If there's one thing i've learned from the blogs this year is that YOU definitely have a lot of HEART!! <3

Lucyourdog on March 19, 2011 at 4:47 pm
      • Gotcha now Areeve. We need permission from Jim, not John, to attend the party. (John has already agreed to give us access to the dorm room if by chance we can't make it back home tonight, but don't tell Jim! Wouldn't want to get John fired.)

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:29 pm
    • Areeve, who's John? Have you been sipping already? I'm game. Since I didn't win I might as well enjoy the Dream Home before the M's get there.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:26 pm
  12. Here in N.W. Florida, we get to watch at 7pm central time. Happy 1st Day of Spring tomorrow !!! It's in the high 70's/low 80's, we have about a week of spring & then it's summer!

gremol on March 19, 2011 at 3:20 pm
    • Hi gremol, I cant get back to your most recent post to me, but wanted to let you know that the minerals in the salt water are very healing including the naturally found thiamine. My new go phone does not yet have a recorded message, but here's the number 310-994-2636. I like the idea of your starting a fibromyalgia blog, and I am sure you will get alot of support, holistic ideas, and a feeling of comfort. Happy Happy Spring to you!!! Love Janzee

Janzee on March 21, 2011 at 5:47 pm
  13. My heightened sense of awareness tells me that by the light of tonight's moon, the transformation will be complete — I will officially become SOMEONE ELSE, at least until the first rays of the morning sun….

Oh, to experience the life of a Dream Home winner
Although it might be but for a night
And yet awake to find the dream's already dimmer
At dawn's first signs of early light.

For SOMEONE ELSE has won, it seems
Is there still hope, perhaps a glimmer
Or is it just me, and just my dreams
    Imagining a celebration dinner?

DBCoop on March 19, 2011 at 4:10 pm
    • Coop, love and appreciate your use of words! We are seeking your assistance at the Green Home Blog….Help me, OBI- WAN- DBCOOPI….You're our only hope!

      areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 4:36 pm
    • Enjoy your celebration dinner Coop. We can't help it if HGTV accidentally selected SOMEONE ELSE for tonight. The best part is that you're able to describe in detail all they experience. Let this be one of the best comments you've written because we all want to know how it feels winning the HGTV Dream Home.

Personally, I don't want to be them tonight, tomorrow or any other time. I want to be the one winning the Dream Home!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:41 pm
    • I'm guessing you're just wanting that celebration dinner, but you can always pretend to be SOMEONE ELSE.:DB)

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 6:41 pm
  14. A few days before the winner was revealed, I was searching around trying to find some hint that would predict where the winner might reside. One thing that caught my eye was a tweet regarding an Auto show taking place in Chicago, IL on March 3rd, 2011. Part of the Auto Showcase was the Acadian Denali 2011. I sorta predicted that the winner would be an IL so when the winner was revealed, I was surprised to learn I was right lol. Seriously, what are the odds the winner would be located so close to the auto show.

  16. Yes Lessie, I've been a Duke fan ever since the Danny Ferry days and when Bobby Hurley, Christian Laetner, Grant Hill and Thomas Hill won back to back Championships years ago. I just love the Duke program and their traditions. The Cameron Crazies!! It's a fan thing. Which team is your #1 Lessie?

Lucyourdog on March 19, 2011 at 5:04 pm
    • Well, Lucy, to tell you the truth, I follow all teams as long as they're winning. Whoever is winning is my favorite. I'm not really a sports fan, my family is.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 6:19 pm
  17. I guess it's still possible they could shut the blogs down for the night. I hope not, but I guess I can catch up on the special 3 hours later, at my time.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 7:14 pm
    • Look at it this way Cami, there won't be any negative blogs because everyone knows there can only be one winner and it was SOMEONE ELSE!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:51 pm
      • I hope they won't have any problems grasping that concept.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 8:56 pm
  18. Congratulations to the Makstenieks family.
I'm partying with pizza and fortune cookies.

    My fortune cookies say….

    1. Investigate the new opportunity, that will soon become an option. … Well alrighty then..
    2. Listen to your friends to get the answers you seek. LOL

Hmmmmm I'm feeling lonely, I guess everyone is sitting down ready to watch the special.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 7:28 pm
    • My son went to pick up the Chinese and fortune cookies (I ordered two extra orders….20+the ones that usually come with the meal:) He's not back yet….Will keep you posted.

SandyLA on March 19, 2011 at 8:04 pm
      • I'm not giving details Sandy, just general statements. But I won't do that anymore since we already know the winners.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:21 pm
        • Oh :D

SandyLA on March 19, 2011 at 9:15 pm
  20. No new blog yet! John's giving a quick tour of the home. Monica is packing to surprise the winners.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:04 pm
    • What on earth does she need to pack to go surprise someone 1 hour away?

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 8:16 pm
  21. John just finished touring the first level and is headed downstairs. Monica's suitcase is packed and she's ready to leave to surprise the winner. Commercial break.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:09 pm
    • Why did she pack a suitcase if she lives in Chicago?

  22. Yes watching HGTV special

lmbarshaw on March 19, 2011 at 8:10 pm

  24. OOHHHH House warming gifts…..Quilt, picnic backpack, snowshoes……

    areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 8:12 pm
  25. John is now touring the downstairs living room, bar, and housewarming gifts as well as the keepsake quilt. Oh, the winner of the housewarming gifts also gets a quilt. That's great news!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:13 pm
  26. Now showing the top secret location, paper mail, etc where the winner was chosen. Showing the selection process. By the way, my name was next to Eric's. Jim next time, be quick with your stop finger!!!!

  28. Commercial break. Returning with tour of outdoor spaces and Monica's visit to the winner.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:17 pm
  29. Here is a copy of a post from DBCOOP…..He is SO AMAZING!
Of course, if eissel were written in Olde English, the letter s, either at the beginning or the middle of the word, was written in a large, cursive s shape, and so it took on the appearance of the letter f, even with a small nubbed slash/cross. Thus, the word eissel, written in Olde English, would appear, to us, written as eiffel.

Everyone knows of the world-famous Tour Eiffel, right?!

    Lessie….You are world famous!

    areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 8:20 pm
    • Oh wow, I'm famous and didn't know it!!! Just wait till I tell everyone I'm the Eiffel Tower!

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:25 pm
  30. FYI: Monica grew up 15 minutes from Hinsdale.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:23 pm
    • That is the part of the show giving me pause– there may be an avalanche of accusations that " the contest was rigged " because Monica grew up so near Hinsdale ! I was almost afraid to read the blog tonight.

LLColeman on March 20, 2011 at 1:07 am

  33. Let me know when he tours the laundry room, so I can have a moment of commonality–;) When are they gonna post a new blog?

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 8:30 pm
    • I don't remember him touring the laundry room Cami. Maybe it was because he knew we were in there waiting to hi-jack him.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:44 pm
    • Cami, "they " are not done being entertained by the insane laundry room adventures and moon trips…….

  35. The show's over. Funny, I don't feel any different after watching the show than before I started watching the show. Oh well, guess that means I'm ready to move forward and can now close the door on the 2011 Dream Home.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:33 pm
    • Thanks Lessie, mnow I don't have to think that I was the winner of the Housewarming gifts.

SandyLA on March 19, 2011 at 8:44 pm
      • If you had won the housewarminng gifts, I wouldn't have announced it Sandy. That would have been too great of a surprise to take from you. Jon's not on the blog so it didn't really matter.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 11:40 pm
    • That resembles the one I opened about 15 years ago telling me the same thing Areeve. Hasty means real slow in fortune cookie terms. Just saying…..

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 8:47 pm
      • Well….You see…the law of time states that it speeds up as the years progress….So…Going to frame this fortune and put it on my desk!….Pretty soon HGTV will knock on my door:)

  38. Coop is your real name John Perkins?
I guess if Coop starts talking about all the yummy stuff he's been cooking, we'll know it's him. Hey Coop let me know if you want my chocolate chip cookie recipe. The kitchenaid mixer is perfect.

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 8:46 pm
    • If not, we can make his name Jon Perkins for tonight Cami. Jon is French to me.You know Cami, you might be on to something. After all Coop did say he would be SOMEONE ELSE tonight.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 9:18 pm
  39. What did everyone think? Nice Family, I sure hope they get to keep the home. Okay all, ready-set-start the guessing for 2012's Dream Home location !!! I hope it's in a warmer climate.

        areeve04 on March 19, 2011 at 9:00 pm

Cami on March 19, 2011 at 8:59 pm
    • Hope it's running soon Cami.

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 11:44 pm
      • Thanks Lessie, we really need it to work until the transmission goes,,, then?? I'll just buy a little used Honda. The one we're trying to fix is our last mini van. We just bought my daughter a used Honda Civic that runs pretty good and should give her another 100,000 miles. I really like driving it.

Cami on March 20, 2011 at 1:23 am
    • And I hope you get your car fixed too, Cami. Take a wrench and just give it a whack here and there. Sometimes that's all it takes. (Actually, that's usually my Plan B, when Plan A doesn't work out.) It may not always fix whatever it is you're working on, but it usually makes ME feel better about it!

DBCoop on March 19, 2011 at 11:53 pm
      • Thanks Coop. My husband is a mechanic so he's very skilled at taking his frustrations out on vehicles. Maybe why he likes collecting junk, then he can pound at it all day long. This time, he ordered a magic potion off the internet. it's supposed to fix the leaks that are hard to get to.
I really don't want a new car. This car still looks good on the inside and the outside, if he can't fix it, I'll have to push my lovely car everywhere I go.
We are determined to never have another debt besides our home for the rest of our lives. If that means I have to drive less than nice cars, so be it. Besides that ol' jeep we have an older spare car on the side of the house, that I'm not really excited about driving.

Cami on March 20, 2011 at 1:13 am
        • As long as it gets you from A to B, it'll do until you get what you want or like Cami.

Best Wishes to Eric, Catie and their Children~wishing you nothing but happiness..

Cindy on March 19, 2011 at 9:04 pm

Lessie on March 19, 2011 at 9:23 pm
    • I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
      I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
      I see bad times today.

      (CHORUS:)
      Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

      I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
      I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

      (CHORUS)
      All right!

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

They wrote this song about the super moon years ago. It was one of my Fave's

          • Yah, I'm sure if you heard it you would remember it right away. Great song. I'm not young, but, I don't want to think I'm old either. But when it's considered an oldie I guess I am old…..LOL

            debbielee27 on March 20, 2011 at 12:41 am

Lessie on March 20, 2011 at 8:44 pm
      • I heard that song yesterday on my oldies station. It seemed quite appropos for today! I always loved Creedence Clearwater Revival. My teenagers like their music too.
