How strange, Everyone wants to give me the thumbs down, but not one person wants to leave a comment. Whats up with that? Bring it on! We all know who is on here. We all know this is all about popularity. It really upsets me. Why doesn't everyone just say what they really mean. So you get a thumbs down? So what! Be honest. I have come across so many regulers on here that have contrictided themselves for the sake of being popular, and I can name them, but I won't. What the heck, say what you mean and mean what you say.
I originally posted on Saturday night that I was disappointed that the winners were so "restrained." I did say what I meant! Once I slept on it and saw the other videos again, I changed my mind because I saw it differently. Nothing wrong with that. I respect your opinion, debbielee27, but I don't see it like you do.
"Two men looked out through prison bars. One saw mud, the other, stars."
"Two men looked out through prison bars. One saw a rehabilitation home, the other, A Dream Home"
Also, I was not referring to you, and I think you misunderstood my point. I respect your opinion also beehivestate
deffinetly, im not gonna lie, i wasnt happy the winners were announced erly! and wen i found out it wasnt me i cried for about a half hour! honestly. oh and if u were referring to me as "regulars on here that have constristed themselves for the sake of being popular" i would like toknow, and i wouldnt be mad, i would just try to be more honest
Congratulations to the winner. They seem like a nice family. As for your comments, TomR29. It sounds like sour grapes to me. MY husband I entered many, many timess too and wished we could win. But even if we did we couldn't come up with a "realistic strategy" to deal with tax burden for winning it, then every year property tax!! We would have to sell it. It may be a blessing to them to have won it and now can sell it to some billionaire and use the money for their family. God bless them in whatever they do. And I hope the billionaire enjoys it too.
Sincerely,
B&B
Congratulations to the winners…sorry, I am behind the times on this one as life has been busy. Wishing the family well and wondering (which I may have missed this answer in just skimming) if he was a blogger as he has followed the contest for so long. Congratulations again!
out of all
the homes that you has give HOW many where
BLaCK FAMILY can u tell us why.
I think sometimes that people are angry because they are not having their questions answered honestly in a respectful way. Everyone deserves respect on this blog. I am sick and tired of the mocking way issues have been dealt with. How would you like it if someone treated you that way about an issue you brought up? Be honest, and be kind. Stoking each other’s egos and giving others the thumbs down is not the way to go.
Just like thousands of others, we also had the "tax thing" figured out. Sell our house and use the money we made to pay the taxes, then work to pay them yearly after that….after all, the house is paid for! It doesn't matter if they ski or not, live in it or sell- it's thiers now. keep in mind that they have small children and maybe they will take it up as they grow, it is a wonderful sport for all ages. We live at the base of a ski area and are avid skiers and we would have loved this house. P.S. HGTV……Please, Please, Please if I ever win, suprise me…I don't want to have the heads up! I have never won anything but maybe a few dollars on lottery tickets so this kind of a suprise would be once in a lifetime….So Please, just suprise me completely:)
Every year when we don't win, lol. I am so upset/jealous of the winning peeps but how can you not just love this family! Congratulations you guys. Wow, what a totally life changing event. Some day maybe it will be us.
We will keep on trying every year like you all have been. Congratulations again.
Congratulations to the winners! Even though I'm extremely disappointed that it wasn't me. My family and I have spent over 15 years vacationing in Stowe in December at the Trapp Lodge and have truly adopted the community as our home away from home. Thought maybe it was finally going to be our real home. Oh well. Hope HGTV airs some follow-up shows or videos featuring the new owners in their fantastic new home. I'm sure they'll love it and everything that Stowe and the surrounding areas have to offer.
I would like to thank HGTV for makeing dreams come true.
This world today has enougf on its plate. With this gift to someone,HGTV has made it just alittelbit lighter.
Thank u
Domenic corrado
Seemed to me that the family was happy with their winnings but I have a feeling they will opt for the money instead of taking the home. Congratulations to them!! At least it wasn’t another retired person winning!!
What a complete crock, this has all the makings of a poor stage performance! The HGTV "Home give-a-way", is a set up. Anyone I know who got a knock at the door, with the news that they had just won such a prize, (the mountain retreat $1,500,000 house + $500,000, + a 40,000 car) would have fell over backwards, been screaming & jumping up & down, running through the neighborhood, basically, uncontrollable emotionally jubilee ! Not this guy though, nor his wife, nope they hear the news (for the first time ?) and we see none of that, just smiles & casual converstion, are you kidding me, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This HGTV "Dream Home Give a way" sweepstakes, is just that a Big Dream,, None of you had a chance to win this sweepstakes, its all staged and planned, for viewer attraction and ratings! Its amazing what people will fall for, and allow themselves to cleave to such a false sence of hope, get real folks, they just don't give away to anyone, anything.
what to say….what to say……deep inside we all probably feel this way…..but the ones who say the "RIGHT THING" are ok..at this point…I really do not care…..I think it is GREAT for these people. I for one….am moving on…
I was hoping to win cause they gave it away on my birthday. I didn’t even win a door mat.
Congratulations! I can't even imagine!?!?!! I'm not giving up entering and dreaming EVERY year! Wonder where Dream Home 2012 will be?? How about here in Charleston, SC? Come on down!!
congrats. I would of like to have won seeing how most of my family lives and are from vermont. Also good luck with the hundreds of thousands in taxes.
A FAMILY OF WINTER SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS, if you dont move in the house inform people who be able to take advantage of life on the ski area, my dads an ex speed skier at one point was in the top 10 fastest in the world. we would love to be in such a beautiful place such as stowe
Love the house and happy for the winners. My guess is that they'll sell it because they live so far away and they aren't skiers. That said, something bugs me about the dream home and I'm wondering if anyone else had the same thought. It needs another guest room! The home sleeps 14 and the bunk room sleeps 8. The average family has 2-3 children. Assuming the children/teens get the bunk room, an adult couple will stuck on the pull-out sofa. Yikes! Sounds silly, but in our fantasy world my family decided we would have to renovate and change the bunk room into 2 rooms to accommodate 3 families.
good point about the distance and not being skiers
man, i am kinda like can i have their home!?? one day hgtv will give someone a home that is from a row home and will be so gratful for a huge prize like this that they will be in tears and on the ground! if this was me the camera man would have stopped the tape because i would have been screaming and crying for 20 min.! he didn’t seem to be excited, but hey maybe people are just sooooooo different. but really ..he was probally more excited watching a super bowl game i bet! any who, maybe if i keep entering in 8 years i’ll win. signed ,
the lady living in a row home and can’t pay all her bills!
well, at first i was dissipionted, but now im just happy for the family that won
but i completely understand the families reaction. If they came to my door to say "you just won the hgtv dream home" my reaction would probably be something along the lines of "oh um okay.. i guess?" not because i wouldnt be greatful but because it would just take me a little while to register that this i9s really happening. The next day i would probably be like "OMG I JUST WON THE HGTV DREAM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" but just one more thing, ****i asked chacha if the hgtv dream home 2011 winner was planning on selling and it told me that unfortunately, the winner is not able to afford the taxes that are ovr $600,000 and is now renting it out and searching for potential buyers***** IF ANYONE CAN CONFIRM IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT PLEEEEEASE COMMENT!!! not that i could afford it, its just nice knowing that you have another oppurtunity to get this house
but, there was obviously a reason all of us werent the lucky winners, maybe its because theres just something better in store
Oh well better luck next time think hg should have screened the people they picked should have picked people who could really appreciate that beautiful home I live far away from vt too 1500 miles in 90 degee weather id love to go up there.and if I did win all of florida would have hurd me
Hi, everyone and thank you so much for such warm congrats on winning the housewarming gifts! We are still stunned. So far, we've received everything except the doormat, backpack and quilt. We did get his/hers hiking poles which aren't on the official list – don't know if they come with the snowshoes. The funny thing is, we are selling our (small) three bedroom house and moving to a two bedroom condo so everything is staying in the box until we actually move. Don't know what we're gonna do with snowshoes here in So. Cal (supposed to be 80 today!) but maybe it will prompt us to take a snow vacation next year! Maybe we'll go to Stowe! Thanks again!!
I have been friends with the family since high school. They are the most loving friends any one could hope to have. I am so happy for them! Looking forward to spending quality time with you in Vermount!!
MAN THEY ALWAYS PICK SOMEBODY THATS RICH IN THERE NEVER BLACK
I TOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE FELT THAT WAY. I DON'T THINK THE SHOW IS FARE. COME ON THESE PEOPLE ARE ALL READY DOING OK . PICK SOME WHO REALY NEED A BLESSING
I am a 14 year old girl who watches HGTV everyday when i turn on the tv (that is when i have free time). I entered to win this house everyday, twice a day since January 1 till the day you couldn’t anymore, hoping that my family would win because we have family in Vermont & we love skiing. I guess we didn’t get lucky, but congrats to the winner!
how do i register to win 2011 dream home in dinver co thank you christina longfeathers
I AM HAPPY FOR THE WINNERS BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM TO EXCITED. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE GIVE AWAYS FOR SOME TIME IT SEEM EVERY WINNER IS NOT REALLY IN NEED. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A FAMILY THAT REALLY ARE DOWN AND OUT AND THIS IS THEIR LAST HOPE FOR A BLESSING. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE PERSONS OF COLOR TO WIN ALSO. SORRY THATS HOW I FELL ABOUT IT. EVERY ONE NEED A CHANCE OF A DREAM COME TRUE. I HOPE THE NEXT FAMILY ARE MORE EXCITED. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME WINNING A MILLION DOLLAR HOME AND NEW AUTO , AND 500.000 CASH DOES NOT GIVE YOU MORE EXCITEMENT THAN THAT . OH MY GOD IF I HAD WON I THINK I WOULD HAVE PAST OUT WITH SUCH JOY. HOPE YOU GUYS REALLY PICK A REAL NEEDY FAMILY NEXT TIME . I BET YOU GET A DIFFRENT REACTION FROM THEM. PEACE OUT
you/'re right, you're not being mean – just arrogant and self-entitled. Perhaps because you CAN afford to be an "avid skier" and go on trips, and pay the taxes, you are less deserving than someone who really needs this, as opposed to wants it. Maybe the stay at home dad struggling to pay the mortgage for their kids is more deserving of a prize that will help them out financially, instead of just keeping it tucked away for weekend trips. As you can see from all the thumb downs you've received to your comment, many do not share your lofty opinion.
Why don’t they give away a home the average person could afford to keep. To my knowledge there hasn’t been one winner who kept the house because of taxes etc.
I am very much overwhelmed by your thoughts for this particular story. A more deeper and staged knowledge would be good for me.
