Don’t Forget About HGTV Green Home
Hi all,
A quick reminder: Next week we launch the online virtual tour of HGTV Green Home 2011, an eco-friendly home (just received Platinum LEED certification, in fact) located in Denver’s premier sustainable community of Stapleton.
For a primer on the home’s best green features, please review the following articles, then pop on over to the Green: Home blog to share your thoughts on our Modern Prairie-style home:
• The Open Floor Plan and Rendering

Can't wait to see the inside – Thanks for the new post Mary!
when do we find out who wins this? the house is beautiful and the inside too!lol
Anxiously awaiting the virtual tour:) (If I'd won the dream home – I probably wouldn't be interested at all – maybe I didn't win the dream home BECAUSE HGTV knew I wouldn't be that interested in the GREEN HOME if I were settling into my dream home in Stowe?):)
I'm also looking forward to the Blog Cabin, the NEXT Urban Oasis, and the NEXT Dream Home!!
SO excited to see the inside of the Green Home! xD
Who me? Forget about the LEED Platinum 2011 Green Home? Not a chance! As F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote in his 1922 novel: "All-ll-ll righty. I'll be there with bells!" Eco-friendly, recyclable bells, to be sure!
Eagerly awaiting the obline tour. And then the entering everyday, so I can move in there in a few months!<3
Forget the Green Home.. I wouldn't dream of it!! That looks like a beautiful sunrise reflected upon the Green Home's windows. Or is it a sunset? They have a beautiful orange glow like the Dream Home's windows. I must be dreaming.
I wonder If I should remind Mary not to forget about the Urban Oasis.
Mary, I'll NEVER forget about the Green Home cuz I'm entering to win it!
I think that is how dreams become reality Lessie. I love your claiming what you want.
'"Posse ad Esse" ( Possibilities become reality) is the moniker I would like stand beyond as we bloggers enter the Green Home from near and far, or far and near depending on where you are. I have purchased flags, baloons, stickers, pom poms to cheer you guys on from the get go. In my heart my dream is for one of us to WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree Janzee!!! "Posse ad Esse!" Can't wait until the first blogger sweepstakes winner is selected.
Charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or do I mean charge it? Oh golly at this time of night, I am getting a little slap happy as Eddie will testify to.
Mary I could not possibly forget something so beautiful and magnificently constructed as the 2011 Green Home in Denver!! Anxiously awaiting April 1!
Soney and I are in Hawaii. We love Teddy Bears! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBizbsFuI2Y&fe…
What a refreshing afternoon break, Alice! So glad you included bloggers on your adventures in Hawaii.
Like everyone else, how could I forget? It's a great home in a great state! Can't wait for the tour.
Love the exterior of the Green Home. It is fun to see all of these construction and decorating ideas. I am off to the Blog Cabin.
OK, thats all I needed
I'm heading next door. See everyone in the Green Home!
Last one there has to cook dinner…
Hi Mary, I appreciate the "quick reminder" about the Green Home and the link that takes us directly to it.
I thought I'd return the favor and provide you a link to a much loved blog about the Urban Oasis. Do you remember the Urban Oasis giveaway?? I thought it was wonderful. Here ya go take a look.
http://blog.hgtv.com/urban-oasis/
Be sure and share your thoughts on this wonderful Urban Oasis giveaway.
Cami I'm with you. Will sure be glad when the next Urban Oasis is revealed. I think it should be in Hawaii. What a great vacation home that would be!
Hi Cami this is so funny and don't forget to add pop quiz immediately after viewing!
good one Alice.:D
That was VERY thoughtful of you to provide MARY a link to the Urban Oasis blog, Cami. Can you imagine how surprised she's going to be when she realizes she's forgotten to post the next UO location information.
Of course, I think MARY realizes that we operate on the principle of better late than never, and we'll certainly forgive the temporary omission of such vital data.
I loved it Alice and it played all the way through without interruption. Should I take that as a sign?…. that all the Hawaii youtube videos play for me, but the others don't.
I hope Coop gets to watch this one too, since he loves Kauai sooo much. I just love all of them. The Hawaiian islands are unique, in beauty, people and culture. Who can resist?
We saw that you couldn't play some of the links so that is why we posted it on the main page. It is a sign your computer loves Hawaii as much as you do! I love Hawaii too and have been there more times than I can count. Both in the Army and as a civilian. Soney and I are in a Hawaiian mood today. We are posting another one it is called a Hawaiian Lullaby. It put Soney to sleep it is so beautiful.
Okay,
Let me start by saying that I was blogging with everyone else way before the John Smith episode.
I stuck up for HGTV while so many new, and a few old bloggers were so very disapointed in the outcome of the pre-mature announcement of the winner. Whether due to John Smith or who or whatever, I have changed my way of thinking. I have watched the video above and something is not right. They kept giving each other ( Monica, and the Makstanieks ) the corner of the eye looks, and when Monica said the name of the children before they did, I knew this was all quickly rehearsed….I am very disapointed, not just for me but for everyone who has dreamed, and waited, and blogged, and anticipated the "SURPRISE" . I am not a stupid person and I know that a lot of devoted bloggers on here are not stupid either.
I will not participate with HGTV ever again. Something is very wrong here, and it is not worth continuing a Dream that is being Set Up. It is Sad to me, but that is how I feel. I really don't know what else to say.
Hi Debbie, I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed about the home giveaways. I watched the videos and didn't see any "corner of eye" looks. If you are concerned about Monica already knowing the children's names don't be. Monica probably knows the name of the neighbors, their parents, their grandparents, and everyone connected to the Makstenieks, including their children's names. That's what kind of info thorough background checks bring up.
I have no fears of HGTV learning that kind of info about me, as I have nothing to hide. If my husband was ever to win, he might laugh, but wouldn't know what to say. I may faint (seriously) which everyone will think I faked. I've never had the experience so I don't know what I'd do.
It all seemed like a surprise to me, especially hearing Katie laugh, I felt genuine surprise in that laugh, and if not for her just having a baby, I can even see her jumping up and down a bit.
I hope you and I have the experience some day, so we will both know what it's like, I imagine it's a wonderful feeling. Take care and find happiness in everything, it's the best prize of all.
Well good for you Cami, I am happy that you are happy, and that is all that matters.
That's why that practice run and pretaping has to take place Cams, for the just in cases- you never know what's gonna happen on camera, and could you imagine the just so unexpecteds. In high school once, I was showing off for my friends with a borrowed jump rope. I stood there is all my glory jumping like I did when I was in elementary school minus the pig tails, when all of sudden I dropped my drawers. Thank goodnes my bf's were there, and we all went to our next class laughing. We don't want anyone on our bloggie site to drop their drawers.
Debbie, assume you're right. Does that change the fun or dreams you had with other bloggers? Here's my take on the presentation, which is absolutely worthless to anyone except me. When children are involved, anything can happen. When Monica arrived, the M's were probably a typical family…..you know how it can be when you have little children. Sometimes all you can is, "It can't be morning this soon!" Then there's feeding, bathing, and dressing them and then dressing yourself. Monica was probably the one surprised, not the M's. She had to fit into their schedule, not them into hers. Personally, I don't see a problem with it. Regardless of the surprise visit, John Smith, or anything else, Eric was the winner when his name was selected. Winning was not dependent upon his reaction to Monica's visit, what his neighbor did, or how people think he should have responded. He's the winner and that's all that matters!
Just a minute, my doorbell is ringing.
Oh, you won't believe this. Just received an overnight letter from HGTV. I won the Dream Home! The M's were disqualified! Oh my goodness! I'm so excited that I'm jumping up and down and running around in circles. Let me call my husband and children. Oh my! Gotta share this good news with bloggers. Hey Everybloggie, I won! I won! I won!
Psych! Point is when Eric first heard the news, and it probably wasn't what we saw during the presentation, he was just as excited. Everything afterwards is gravey. Hope this makes sense to someone other than me.
Psych! Point is, No, it does not make sense. Probably is not what we saw. How do you know how excited he was? Gravy? Gravy is for Turkey, chicken and roast. The sarcasm in your first paragraph does not do it for me! Sorry
No sarcarsm intended Debbie. It's just how I feel. Told you it probably wouldn't make sense to anyone but me, but that's how I see it. I guess on this point, we agree to disagree,
Even though I'd like you to continue blogging, I understand if you choose not to. Whatever you decide or whatever you do, I wish you the best in life.
Sounds good to me:)
There is no sarcasm in what you say Lessie- it's the way it is, and your case in point example points out the after glow of what happens when a winner is notified. However things play out, there has to be some form of scripting for Television. My personal opinion is that viewers already know that, and have a slight inkling of the sort of remake or almost remake of what happens. "Live" television is strictly news, and then that is even staged.
Just getting back to the blogs, Janzee. Still have errands to run, but for you, I'll take time! So glad you understood my words. Reality TV is changing people's expectations–good or bad. Will be interesting to see how HGTV handles future "Live" sweepstakes presentations. In my opinion, even realtiy tv is scipted so nothing is really "live." No one wants to intentionally look "bad" but want to appeal to those watching the show. Why do you think I'm getting ready to get in shape? So I'll look good when the surprise team arrives!
Hello beauty, I feel the same about you- any time any place when I see your face, I have to get in the race. Here is my take on we woman. Firstly, you were born beautiful, and in addition, your spirit wisdom, pipness, attitude with gratitude, like you say, gets sweeter every year.
Our physical well being is another story, and eating the right way, for our health is tantamount, but looking good for a camera just to shed a few pounds to appeal to millions, that's not my thing.
As an example of our love of curves look at antiquity, and the men in Spain for example, who love their woman with a few extra pounds, The long and short of it, is that we woman will probably continue to devour our chocolate HGTV truffles, indulge in the most fattening fare on the blog, and then think about it the next day. Mmmmm you got me thinking as usual.
P.S. I think most of the HGTV homes I've now seen resemble a slightly curvaceous woman. I thought the 2010 was full bodied and so was the Stowe home. Now if these homes are softly curved, why cant we be, and I'm sure if one of us bloggies won, the home will deliciously welcome us with open arms, a stove ready for cookin, and lots of good times. Forget the hot plates–here we come!!!!!1
Janzee, you have a nice way of expressing yourself. Thanks for the thoughts, and I'm sure there are many more curvaceous women appreciating them as well.
(Darn! I'm moving to Spain)
Curves unite!!!, I'll join you zips for even part of the year. I am an admirer of your writing, and I thank you for the compliment. I hear Spain has some monumentally beautiful areas. Have you got your ears on HGTV? Anyway, even a short visit, enough to be sated with the scenic beauty, art, food, people, and history would be amazing,
P.S. Read this one second Lessie. You are gonna look gorgeous dawling!!!!!
huh?
debbielee27 I think what you are feeling is the same feeling when you realize there is no Santa Clause! Your points are valid and you are beginning to acknowledge that this is a business. I got this a long time ago when I went on here hoping for a Green Home which was local to me. I found the posts by the "old timers" DBCoop, Zip, Lessie, LL etc to be interesting and so funny sometimes. Now I find them condescencing and mocking (115 posts about being spies, rules for entering the contest, secret dog talk?) waste of time and who wants to read about alices resteraunt (no offense but I want to hear about the home). cont.
Yes, I agree, and thank you for adding to my point,
I agree, deleted. Thank you for making me feel that I was not alone.
continued
These are the people that help bring things into perspective and keep it on topic. There are also others who express their true feelings with grace and I am sure just enjoy participating. I think you have to decide if you want to spend your time on here or not. Me it is periodic review and lately I read because I geniunley feel awful for people who are just waking up to the illusion!
Look you will never know how this works really and if JohnSmith was real or not (they just couldn't catch him on the thread he was so tricky! LOL) and he chose only to post this on the HGTV blog and message board no where else on the internet! So don't feel bad about how you are feeling it is valid and most people who are not negative bloggers or sour grapes find the elite crowd a turn off lately . There are so many signs of moderators who can post beyond the allowed limit of characters, can post links you could not..are on here so much it is like it is there job
That is also why I am just reading as of now. I think I will keep my opinions to myself from now on though. I think I more than made my point. Thanks again
No problem. I think they really lost me at the blog "Alright, already. Cool your jets and listen up:" I think that was the most condescending blog post by Mary. In other words can you please stop getting so worked up you didn't win! Don't worry there are poeple here who are happy for the winners, a little dissapointed it wasn't them and don't "need" to win or feel the "deserve to win" they just find the blog experience a little strange lately. Marketing ideas run there course and this might be one of them. So read if you want, take a break if you find it discouraging and don't worry about what poeple post or if you get + or – to your comments remember this is a business. The saddest part was on the Facebook page when people were writing "I hope they come to my house tonight!" on the day the ambush was being aired and HGTV friends were telling them "it isn't you". So even the premature winner reveal was handled poorly the news was buried and people thought up until the last minute it was them! So sad.
Exactly…To be honest, I am a realist. There is no Santa. All of that is for children. But I am not downing the people who were actually looking out their window and noticing things that they didn't before. Yes I have Dreams also, but I refuse to get sick and emotional over something like this. It really is not good for your health. If Mary does not want "everyone to get worked up" This blog should be eliminated, plain and simple. If people just put in their entries and went about their business and not got so obcessed with the blog part of it, then their Jets Would Not Have To Be Cooled. And I really do wish everyons Dreams Do Come True. But remember…..They will only come true when you LEAST EXPECT it. Know what I mean?
Thanks again illusionhere, and good username you picked…..
The name will disappear soon…as will I from intense debate! I don't like to keep an account if I am not commenting. So I will be deletedXXXX soon. I am glad you see the light and know what this is. I agree that the posts of people looking out their window during ambush time is fun…I myself thought someone was following me at the coffee shop one morning. My family was in hysterics over it. So it is funny, I also like to see the reveal of the new homes. Maybe next year they will close the board when the winner is selected. cont.
I understand what you mean. I think I will hang on to my account and keep reading. You never know, things may change.. And I think what you said about closing the board when the winner is selected is a very good idea. It was nice meeting you. I am not very popular on here right now but that is NOT what I am after. I just wish others felt that way too. So I will continue to read and form a fair opinion about all of the bloggers and maybe one day I will give my opinion without so many thumbs down..LOL Everyone has that right.
cont.
I get sick when I read the comments about kids crying, people having no income or being so sick this house would cure them. It is sad to see our country is such a poor state that someone is living in a hotel on welfare but they have the time to post on an HGTV blog and can find the money to get a computer and have access to internet. It is the same feeling on the Facebook page, people pleading with them to come and fix their house or give them a house and to stop showing house hunters international (who needs to see someone buying a second home when they can't even make payments on their first home). I don't know but these are things that make me upset. I have actually started reading blogs by real people about their own cost effective renovations and decorating they make it more "REAL" A few good ones are thrifty decor chic, it's the little things that make a house a home, the lettered cottage, etc. These are blogs that let you know how you can do it yourself and the comments are never sour grapes.
And before anyone responds none of the blogs I mentioned are mine, nor are they friends of mine!!!! I only read them and please don't start with that! Another reason it is so hard to participate on these things is how people will miscontrue what you write. I wish that I was talented enough or had friends talented enough to do that but alas I chose a different profession in life and am by no means an artist.
I hear ya! I think people should get REAL. There is Dreaming, and then there are Dreams. Know what I mean? Dreaming is a fantacy and dreams are something you work for or earn.
wow, the thumbs down are falling like rain for both of us. LOL. Keep them coming.
This is where I gracefully exit! I hope you feel better about your initial post…it may be misunderstood but I think many people know you aren't mad you didn't win at all, you are upset at falling for the illusion!!! So don't be discouraged. Join the next one with a new screen name and a new attitude and maybe others will do the same. I have.
Good plan , Nice talking to you. God Bless
This is called a Hawaiian Lullaby. So beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCaVNDR7bLE&fe…
That was so beautiful, Alice — thanks for the link!
Thanks a lot, alicesoneysmom! That Kauai video was so beautiful that now I think I'll stopover in Hawaii this year on my way to Thailand. I guess it's true about the saying that you just can't get enough of the tropical warmth and Aloha spirit of the Islands.
I must have seen you in the Islands at some point, alicesoneysmom, since I used to have family there, and spent many, many good times rambling about the various islands and beaches. I think I'll be a kama'aina in my next life.
Or maybe I'll be a kama'aina in this lifetime, if Jack T can work out a deal for a Hawaiian home giveaway. Come on, Jack, don't fail us now. We'll even wait another year or two if need be!
So when can a person become a Kama'aina? Is that what you become after you've been an islander for a certain amount of time?
Hawaii truly is so beautiful DBCoop. Next to Seattle Hawaii is the place we would want to be. We could spend our winters in Hawaii and our summers in Seattle and have the best of both worlds. I thought I ran into you before now I know it was in Hawaii.
Excellent idea, alicesoneysmom — winter in Hawaii, summer in Seattle. Now, don't get upset, but for various sentimental reasons, I'm just a hair more partial to San Diego (city and county) so my choice would be summer in San Diego and winter in Hawaii. Now, my other two favorite West Coast (bigger) cities are Seattle and Vancouver. Talk about smaller cities and towns along the Pacific Coast, and there are a number of absolute gems … too many to mention, like Rancho Santa Fe, Ojai, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Sausalito, Calistoga, Mendocino — and that's just California! So much to see, and too little time to see it all….
Alice, what can I say…. So relaxing. Just what I needed before severe thunderstorms come my way. Thanks for the great link.
Thank you Lessie take care don't like thunderstorms. Be careful I always turn everything off and Soney and I sit in the dark until it is over. Sounds silly but I saw lightening strike a telephone pole near our home and that scared the living tweedle out of me. Is there still snow on the ground in your neck of the woods? The sun is out for awhile so we are enjoying it. Soney is passing around mai tais here is one for you.
Alice, I've been laughing since reading your comment the first time. When you said, "I saw lightening strike a telephone pole near our home and that scared the living tweedle out of me." In my mind, I saw tweedle dee and tweedle dum. You can imagine the rest…..
Hi Lessie Soney and I have to go on a shopping trip. On our way to Mud Bay. Soney is out of Paul Newman's (that is what we call his treats and will tell the story later). He needs his favorite dog food and another squeaky tennis ball and bone wouldn't hurt either. Thanks I think I can imagine the rest is this it? Have a great day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV97roslmt0&fe…
Alice, you amaze me. Your mind is so quick. Surely you know every lyric and can easily pull the link from youtube. Hope you and Soney enjoyed your trip to Mud Bay!
I am guilty too…I have also responded, but I think it may be time to enact the "troll" rule.
Sometimes the trolls get my goat, too. (I can't stop thinking about "Three Billy Goats Gruff", can I?) I have responded also, and then I became frustrated because I really wasn't going to change anyone's opinion or even have a decent dialogue. They seem to love the responses and then start name-calling and mocking. Some people just like to argue and get others riled up. It's so hard for me to bite my tongue — what's the blogging equivalent of that? Maybe it's "sit on my hands so I don't type". I have learned so much from Coop and Ed who ignore the trolls. I think it was Mark Twain who said, "Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference." Being from a rural area, I think I prefer this quote: "I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." I think the trolls like it when we wrestle with them, so I, too, will enact the troll rule with you, Zip!
Thanks,
I'm hearing you…the intention of a reply is quite often lost. It only feeds the fire as opposed to getting it back on track. I will err on the side of caution an not reply.
By the way, LOVE those quotes. I'm sure they can be helpful in many aspects of our lives (I will have to copy them onto a computer sticky!) I will share one of my favorites, again (LOL), Never gamble with what you don't want to loose. Doesn't apply to blogging, but definitely does with Life.
Good one! I have learned my lesson.
Congrats on the LEED Platinum certification! HGTV just keeps getting better and better! I am super excited to see the virtual tour of the Green Home! Maybe we can get GM to offer up a Volt to go with the Green Home Giveaway this year – that would ROCK! Keep up the great work HGTV!!!
Thanks for the new post, and I am super excited about the green home, it is more my style anyhow. Although I most likely will not win, but I love what I have seen thus far. I am not a great blogger but I plan to stop in on the blog some of the time… Hope to see you all there.
Don't Forget About the DIY Blog Cabin either, folks! I've long wondered, so I may as well ask — why do I see and hear from so few fellow Dream Home and Green Home bloggers over on the DIY blog? Expand your world, increase your chance to win a home giveaway — drop by some time!
Remember, the more the merrier, and a great time will be had by all.
So many Blogs, so little time:)
Haven't I met the minimal Blog Cabin post requirements yet? I don't know what else to say about bathroom comforts. In fact I'm having a hard time coming up with any post at all. I don't know how you do it Coop. I guess I have writers block. I'm saving my Green Home posts for Aprill 1st. I've said just about all I can say on the Urban Oasis Blog. I don't have much else to say here. I guess that's it.
Aha, a classic case of the blogger's blues! Writers block can come from many things. However, let's not go down that dark and dangerous path, (since we're just emerging from that trail's end as we speak) but push forward, round the corner, and drink in the inspiration and the light of words of wisdom, or just as importantly, plain old silly comments.
Just use the idea of word clustering. Write down one word, one simple word (or even a central idea or thought) — just about anything will do that's more or less relevant to the blog. Then write down the words, or phrase fragments, without judgements, that spring to mind about that core word or idea. From there, construct your masterpiece, making additions or edits, cutting and pasting, reordering the sequence, until it all comes together.
Or, as I sometimes do, just throw your hands up (figuratively, that is) and go have a slice of pie, a chocolate candy, or a peanut butter cracker. (Your choice. Those are just my preferences!)
As for the Urban Oasis blog, remember what they say, "the greasy wheel gets the squeak." No, that's not right. I think it goes "the squeaky wheel gets the hammer." Anyway, you get the idea.
I'm leaving snowy Wyoming tomorrow for a week in sunny Las Vegas! Can't wait to see the grass again. I'll see all of you on the Green Home blog when I return on April 1, right in time for the online tours!!
Hope you enjoy the Las Vegas trip, even if you might have a little liquid sunshine here and there — but the grass will definitely be greener.
Have fun, Wyo_Girl! Don't use up all of your luck in Vegas — save some for the Green Home Giveaway!
Have a great trip Wyo-Girl!
I hope you don't call it Lost Wages after you leave Wyo_Girl! Enjoy yourself! ^_^
Have a safe, fun, and warm trip! See you in a week:)
Win BIG! I love all the Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas. My favorite place to stay is the Golden Nugget.
I just learned and listened to this song for the 1st time!! I hope it brings a smile to some of your faces as it did for me today!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmDakhg45rk&fe….
Thanks for the link Deleted. I've loved this song for a long time. It reminds me of another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qkybPIq33o
How long will you stay deleted?
Is this Lucy's owner? Why'd you go and delete yourself? We need to have Maine represented on the blogs!
deleted a bit confused here. First read this post you were Lucyourdog. Then when we came back to listen to your link you were someone else, can't remember that name. Now you are deleted. Not sure where you are coming from or headed to. Read some posts of deleted. Hope you return to Lucyourdog she loved to tell stories and Coop007 was her idol. You are too young to remember this tv show and I don't remember too much about it except my family had to watch it all the time it was a very popular tv show. p.s. deleted if you don't want to hear anything more about alice's restaurant we will close down sorry it was boring to you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fELL5th4Gg&fe…
Won't be long now! It's sad that Lucy didn't leave a reply, but I think she did here!! Gone the weekend. TTYL!!
Thanks for the link, Deerspring. Hope a blogger lives in the area and can be a tour guide.
Good point darbydawn.
Wish i was closer!
And the Green Home Main Page Quick Vote says:
HGTV Green Home 2012 Should Be Built In —
California 12%
Washington 19%
Texas 18%
New York 13%
Oregon 21%
Ohio 16%
So far, it looks like the Oregonians have the lead for a potential Green Home 2012.
Looks like Ed's been busy.
Could well be! That EdinOregon's always cookin' up something, whether it's in the kitchen or on the blogs!
Sorry Cami it's not me. I just now realized there was a vote for the next Green Home. It doesn't matter anyway. I haven't seen them use the winning location yet. If they did you would already have your Hawaiin Dream! ^_^
Tis true Ed. Glad I mentioned you though, how else would I get you to come out of hiding.:p<3
Washington, or "Let's go, Ore-Go Go ! " will both be great choices for a green home; CA can stay in last place ( and I live there ! LOL )
Go ahead blame it on me Coop. You know I would vote for San Diego first. I would skip Sacramento though. My son said they had tornados in Sac. yesterday!!
Speaking of the Green Home and Denver, here is one guilty Denver who is regretting her actions:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8ISzf2pryI
Fortunately my conscience is clear — I did not touch those kittie treats! :p
Thank you C&E that was so cute. Soney has that same look on his face and his tail wags. The only trouble with Soney is he is the only dog and we know who did it! Thanks so cute!
Love the Modern Prairie Style!
That was hilarious — thanks, Deerspring!
Good Evening everyone, I sure hope you all have had a better day than I have; I was awakened around 4am by the news that my son & his friend had wrecked my car & both were in the ER with injuries & my car is totaled. My son is ok, bruised sternum & multiple abrasions; his friend is in ICU with bleeding in his brain & fractured vertebra. Doctors say he'll be alright, but I sure could use all Prayers. When it rains it pours !!! Why do bad things happen to good people?? I try very hard to be the best person possible, to treat everyone well, and do for others; but another way of looking at it is it could have been worse, they could both be dead & I thank God for that. Thanks in advance, I believe in the Power Of Prayer !
sending prayers
Gremol our prayers are with you and we love you. Take care of yourself and take one day at a time. Yes it could have been worse and thank God for that. Bad things happen to all people and it takes a lot of strength to carry on. You are a very good person here and we love you for that. Take care
I think you summed it up wonderfully…Thanking God…
(Thank him for the good when it comes your way, and pray to him for strength when the bad creeps in.)
I like your belief…Prayer…I know of nothing stronger than a person with faith, love, and prayer.
God bless you and yours…
You and the boys are in our prayers, gremol — I hope life gets better for you soon!
So sorry you are having to go through this gremol. We'll be thinking of you and sending hugs daily. <3
It's quite a traumatic jolt when life suddenly comes at you with unexpected and starkly disturbing twists. That your son and his friend will come through their ordeal fully healed and ready to return to the mundane chores and challenges of day to day living is reassuring. Hold that thought, Gremol, through the tasks that await resolution in the days and weeks ahead.
My darling gremol, I just came on the blog after a day of not being here. I read your post and was shocked to hear your news. As always we all send out prayers for each other on this blog, and my hope is that your son recovers fully and completely from his injury. Please feel free to call if you want to just talk, pray a little, and spend a moment to relax for a few minutes. These are the hardest situations to remain "neutral" especially when you can not make things happen. You have to let doctors do the best they can do, and allow the greatest physician of al–l G-D above to touch your son and his family from their heads to their toes. Stay in touch with us gremol and let us know how your son is doing.
Your family and your son's friend's family are definitely in my prayers! We don't always know or understand why things happen….I believe this test will someday become your testimony! You are a strong and courageous person, gremol, stay strong! Do make sure you take the time out to take care of yourself too. This way you will be better able to care for your loved ones that need you. God Bless you!
I hate phone calls between midnight and 6 a.m. My prayers are with you and your son and especially his friend.
Thanks Deerspring I just read it to my husband who needed to laugh at least once today. I've been laughing for at least 4 hours.:D
Much Thanks to each & everyone of you, there are some truly wonderful people on this blog. The thought of losing my only child (btw, he's 40 years old) and my grandkids father is quite a blow. I know God & prayers is the most healing thing. God Bless & Keep All of You.
Gremol, I'm coming a little later into this situation. I hope your son and his friend are recovering
and stabilized. I also wish you strength in helping your son with his recovery.
Gremol I hope you are able to listen to this and hope it helps. Our prayers are with you and your family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQze9nTh-qo&fe…
I also have not been here and read with shock your horrable news. I do think of this place (blog)
as a special place and come here often to listen to people I like and communicate my feelings
as well. When one has bad news if really affects us in the gut – as if we really know each other.
It is real and I do sincerely hope that all is well with both guys. 40 is just a number, it means that
is how long you have loved your son. My best wishes to you, his family, and to his friend as well.
So sorry to hear about your son and his friend…..it is a trauma for parents when something like this happens ! As mother of 2 adult sons, it is a constant worry underlying the everyday; I can relate so much. A pray for their healing, (and perhaps that they may even someday find a renewed life purpose and gratitude, as near -tragedy sometimes can grant us ). My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope your son's friend will be home soon from the hospital.
Let us know how things progress if you can; we care ! <3
Thanks dear, you think once you get them grown, all your problems are over, but that's not the case, you still worry about them as if they were still 2 years old, no matter how old they get, they are still our babies!!
Darling Coleman, your words and thoughts and prayers always reach me as your earnest love of others and faith shines through. Thank you for the care and love you have for everyone. We love you!!!!!!
Janzee–love you too, and all the heartfelt messages you write.
I have to echo CplusE, that was hilarious! I was moved almost to tears and then to laughter!
gremol, may every hand that touches them in the hospital be a healing hand. Stay strong. With you in spirit! Something good may yet come of this. You never know. I do wish you well.
Thanks Maine we will miss Lucy but it sounds like she is going to have a good home. Hope you will be able to keep in touch with her and let us know how she is doing. It is hard to let go of Lucy but your family comes first. My son was bitten by a babysitter's dog near his eye we never went back to that babysitter again. My son always loved dogs and thankfully that incident didn't affect him. Maine is a beautiful state have never been there. We are on a little visit there today. Thanks we like your name Maine almost as much as Lucy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tvYHk7XjfA&fe…
SO excited for the Green Home and glad that I spent the last couple of weeks distracted so that I didn't have to witness all of the negativity this time around…although it looks like the remnants are still here. As always, sending love to those faithful bloggers who stand here year after year!
I live in Denver. Thank you for this. I just asked for an application to volunteer. May I start you on your tour?
Good news, son's friend is home from the hospital & expects a full recovery. Again, I can't thank my blog family enough for all the prayers & concern for me & mine, love to all of you !!!!! Now, on the Green Home, I like it very much & will 'tour' it often, but it's not for me. Not big enough for all my kids!! I'm liking the Blog Cabin more & more.
I am kind of happy that I didnt win the Dream Home…as I was holding out for the Green Home! We are a military family living on the east coast and my dream is to move back west after my husband retires. Colorado is on our list and I would finally be back near family! I want this so badly! Hehe! Colorado rocks! And to top it off, it is environmentally sound…who could ask for more?
I would be interested in seeing the financials behind the green home – because being green doesn't just save the environment, it also saves your money over time! I've been trying to slowly "green" my home that I purchased through http://www.fletchersales.com.
waaaw,i loooove it.i love it from outside then when i saw the inside it was more than double waaw.
)))
of course i will never forget it,the green home? it is sooo cool to spend the rest of your life inside it.
not easy to win,but very easy to dream
Just check in on my beautiful home.
Hope all is well with my blogging friends. Speak to everyone a little more tomorrow.
Good luck!!!
