Finally, The 2012 Floor Plan
Thanks for your patience, all.
I am so happy to share our floor plan and rendering for HGTV Dream Home 2012. Please examine the illustrations and then drop some comments in this post. I will seek out the answers for you.
Enjoy! And while you’re at it, pop on over to the Urban Oasis blog to check out the latest news. Excitement is building as we draw closer to the online tour (August 1). A Q&A with HGTV’s own Vern Yip will launch early next week. Keep checking back for details! I think you will love this year’s apartment – like the architectural design of HGTV Green Home 2011, interior details are inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie style.

Then, after the ice cream, you go down and put your feet into the cool, cool Provo river and that is nirvana on a hot summer's day. You don't need A/C when you have the river.
Hey, if you're by any chance into rock climbing, The Fit Stop has an indoor climbing wall… only place on the Wasatch Back for indoor climbing and right inside the club itself. Be sure to hit their juice bar before you leave… gotta replace that energy within the 30 minute window, or so they say!
Is the river always cold or later in the summer will it just be cool?
Far as I know, the river is always cold.
I have found my dream home. If I don't win can I buy the floor plans? I LOVE IT!!!!
Love the floor plan….Can't wait to see the final product…
Thanks HGTV for the new dream..
Just another thought (watch out)… What if HGTV did a smaller less expensive home in a city or just
outside in a suburb so that it would cost less so more people could afford it? Then take the money
they are saving and put it into the Dream Home and make it even more spectacular! I am thinking
Hawaii of course. Trying to think of a way to get there. They could drop GH altogether and make the
DH very green!!! I just don't know.
noo, dont drop GH im a full blown lover of it, and hope one year to win!
River Meadows Ranch, the name of the development where the Dream House is being built. Sorry for the shorthand!
not to mention a clever mind! He's like "lightening in a bottle," you never know when or where you'll need it but it comes in handy and sure is fun.
Wow, it's amazing – and I know it'll be even more than we can even dream of after it's completed! I especially love that a major focus is outside space
Mary, I'm wondering what "green" improvements are being incorporated into this Dream Home??
Under the stairs is a good idea, also the crawl space is good storage for out-of-season stuff. That's where we put our Christmas stuff.
It's raining this afternoon and we are having a thunder storm and gray skies. I wonder how that affects the fishing? Someone asked about the terrain of the river itself but I can't find the post to reply directly. The river is fast flowing past "our" house and right now it is probably 3-4' deep in the middle if you wanted to walk out to our island. Fishermen I see out there are in up to waist deep. The river bottom is rocky and in some places it is dark and cool with overhanging willow trees. The width across? I'm not good at that but maybe it's 20' across… don't quote me… it varies, of course. The water is cold all the time and the river is not smooth like in the artist drawing, rather it is ripples as it goes over the stones. I'm sorry i can't describe it better, anyway it's quite beaUTiful and I must congratulate Jack T. on finding this property.
But wait! There's more… I forgot to tell you that the sound of the river is so wonderful and calming and when I am walking along the river bank in the sun, I'm happy through and through.
I want to be where YOU are, beehivestate!
Come on down!
Here's a little video tour that shows the Heber Valley, some of the great restaurants and inns, and the fishing and mountain biking. See what you think. We love the Spin Cafe, Tarahumara (Mexican) in Midway, and the Bear Dance on Main Street. I hope it's okay that I post this, as it's pretty much a Chamber of Commerce piece. http://www.gohebervalley.com/
Click on the arrow that says "video tour"
Thanks for the video link, beehivestate. It has great ideas for dining venues. On top of that, it shows some of the great scenic beauty of the area and the level of sophistication available among lodging choices — something one might not expect if you've never visited the Heber Valley before.
Does the Snake Creek Grill still serve the balsamic and mint-glazed grilled Morgan Valley Lamb Tenderloin? That mention caught my attention in the video as Jai Wurfbain (owner of The Spicy Lady) was talking. Maybe it's a seasonal menu item, but I'll try to plan a visit when its available!
It all looks and sounds wonderful! Can't wait to be there in person. I have been looking at many different websites concerning that area and I want to live there! There is SO much to do and the people look very happy to live there. There is great opportunities for new business ventures and for people to have employment, which is hard to come by, such as myself. I DO have a part-time job and I go to college at a University 60 miles away…..every day in the Fall and Spring. This next Spring will be my final semester, then I'm FINISHED!!
We've never been to Snake Creek Grill,. We prefer casual restaurants like the Spin Cafe or the Bear Dance or the Foundry in Sundance where you don't have to dress up.
Hi gremol, how are you doing?
Time to take a music break to tell you how much we love our Washington State! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GsZJ29-brk
Thanks, that was a nice interlude.
She moved there and moved back we heard.
Mary is out and about check her new post !
Love the layout of this house!!! I can't wait for the virtual tour so I can really explore every room!
Wow that is some beautiful home…
I L.O.V.E this house, best first impresion ever! I love how it's right on the Provo river, best part. I was wondering….Is all the area between the Provo river and the house the back yard?
The back yard ends at the fence line and then there is a common area that is owned by the state and is open access to the river for anybody. If you do a google earth survey for 2400 River Road, Midway UT you can see the property, the fence line, the river, and the island.
Are you sure? I thought this community was between Albuquerque and Santa Fe and lots of the area is under smoke warning.
I am really excited about this new dream home! Looking forward to seeing as a complete structure! I love you HGTV… and yes I am a guy! But I love this website!
i am soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love this floor plan so much! if i win this, the second story bedroom(not the master, the other one) is mine!!! i love it!! you've outdown yourselves again, this is exactly what my familly needs!!!
I almost cried when I saw it…it is just that beautiful~ Watching it come into being is going to build my anticipation all the more, as this is the first home I am seeing from start to finish. I hope this one is being built for me!! Thanks for sharing…keep the tidbits coming!

Nice…really nice! I like the river along side for fish and just plan relaxation…this is one of the best dream homes to date. Great job guys!!!
When do I enter!!!
I was so excited to see that you had chose Utah for the new Dream Home location, it is so beautiful there and the Home design is Outstanding I have so dreamed about this home I always have wanted to be able to take care of my parents and have them live in my home and be with me and my children and grandchildren this is the Perfect home for that. This is a Great choice location and Home design!
Wow, this is truly a dream home! Can't wait.
This home is one you can get lost in. That fishing area.Wow B) That's privacy, the second floor porchA+ Lovin it.
Sheesh, I forget about the site for a few weeks and look what I miss! Looks like my guesses weren't too far off from the early roughed-in walkthrough. That odd shaped room downstairs did turn out to be a bedroom after all, and what looked like two smaller bedrooms with a shared bath in the back upstairs area turns out to be a single bedroom with a bath. Otherwise, I think I got it pretty spot-on!
Nice to see official layouts and pics! Been away since I haven't had time to drive up and take a look lately, so glad to see I didn't really need to after all.
I love the master *sanctuary* upstairs. LOL.
Please please please bulid the next dream home in TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This may have been asked and I missed it: Is there a “public bathroom” or at least powder room? all the bathrooms in the floor plan appear to exclusive to its attached bedroom.
I noticed that there is no bathroom directly connected to the living spaces, so that means you would have to go walking through someone's bedroom to get to a bathroom? This doesn't make much sense to me.
When HGTV started the dream home program, I was elated. A chance to win a beautifully decorated home in a stunning location. And definitely something to dream about… But as the years went by, I noticed how out-of-touch it became. it went from a dream to an absurdity. 4,000 sq. feet? What is the matter, can't the family stand being in the same room with each other? It just seems like an excercise in excessive consumption. And look at where the majority of people are now. They could not afford to pay the upkeep on a house like this, even if they did win it. The people entering now, will tell me to shut up as they planned all along to take the cash. But that wasn't the DREAM. The DREAM was that this would be a place YOU would get to enjoy.
I don't think the advertisers will be getting their moneys worth out of his one. Or was this only ever intended as a lottery for the1% ? The rest of us get to see how they are living on our bailout money…
Oh, I'll take the house. It is MY dream home for reals. I will live in it.
This home was made for me. Right where I want to be for the rest of my life. Utah is my home!
Wod you really have been unhappy if the house were only 1,500 sq ft.
Or perhaps a set of differently designed cottages around a central courtyard where a number of people could win and share the experience? HGTV could show us how to live elegently in less space, recognizing that this has become an absurdity in our current reality where college graduates can’t find jobs and seniors are working at McDonds in order to pay for medicines that are necessary to stay alive. I am all for having a dream, but HGTV Should be leading the way in showing us what real dreams should be about. I am dismayed to see HGTV flaunt such excess at a time when do many are suffering and have lost their homes. Our American dream has turned into the American nightmare and HGTV SHOULD be helping heal the wounds not remind millions of viewers of the types of excesses that helped fuel the recession. I could not possibly live in this development as I fear my neighbors would be the very bankers for whom I have no respect left…..
I am sorry HGTV, but I hope that Occupy Wall Street takes a close look at this development and gives you their opinion of where you have gone… Or perhaps. You ready have an occupy Utah that has given you their opinion on 4,000 sq ft for one family.
Yes, let us keep the philosophy of ‘Winner Take All’ and ignore the plight of all the losers… I ask others to be honest. Is this really a dream you can pretend is achievable any longer?
