Siting HGTV Dream Home 2012

I had the opportunity to chat with the 2012 architect Corey Solum yesterday. I was gathering information about the process of siting the home. I look forward to sharing the story in its entirety in mid-August when we launch the Building of HGTV Dream Home 2012 package on HGTVPro.com. Something he said made me smile: “Every lot has a good side, just like people do.” His job in siting the home included a close examination of the lot to determine its “good side”.
I share a photo that demonstrates just how successful he was. Enjoy!

Never thought I would live in Utah but with a DREAM HOME like this I cannot resist. Love the view and the unique characteristics of this work of love. Love to be there too. Thanks for the opportunity to live the dream.
All the Dream Homes have been very beautiful, but as far as I know most of them no longer belong to the winners. Why not hold the sweepstakes before the home site is chosen so the winner could actually live in the home. Most people can't quit their job and move across the country from all their family. Also many people can't afford inssurance and taxes on a million dollar plus home.If you held the sweepstakes before the site was chosen the Dream Home could be lived in by the winner Hgtv could get some of the things on the winner's wish list, and a home the winner could afford live in could be built. Then with the money left over you could more Dream Homes!!!
IF HGTV held the Dream Home Sweepstakes before the Home site was chosen they could 1) build 3 or 4 Dream Homes for the same money 2) Make a number of episodes first introducing the winner, the home site and the homeplan. Then have episodes showing the home progress and a final reveal.3) Have a show where they show past HGTV Dream Homes, maybe Ten Best Dream Homes or a One year later episode.
While everyone's commenting on how pretty it is (except for the wise person asking whether or not it's on a flood plain),. has the house been sited with respect to the sun? Orienting a house to the south for passive solar in the winter and shading in the summer can make a huge difference in energy performance. I hope they didn't think just about the view. That's very short-sighted.
I love this view, love the home and the property. Could so live here! just plain pure beauty and relaxation i see in this home.<3
I realize most comments are from 8 weeks ago but, I just managed to get in and open this up for use. I had no problems with the DIY blog and did so for a good while. I guess I'm a day late & a dollar short. Oh well…. better later than never! I love this pic! It is so incredible. Who ever wins this will be blessed 4-ever! Who knows, maybe the LORD will bless me and my family after all the hell we have been thru. Love this home and can't wait for more!B)<3<3
So I drove by this, this past weekend It is in such a beautiful place Holy Cow! I would love to win something like this! I was with a bunch of ladies who claim they all want it now too!
The View couldn't get any better! The town that it is closest too is soooooo cute! They have all kind sof fun outdoor things to do there! I loved IT!
The location of this (I am going to call it home) home is perfect. It is the perfection from the tip of God's paint brush to us. If I won this I wouldn't know what to do first take pictures or paint so I guess I will just have to do both.
