Crib Framing

Hi all,
I thought I’d pop in today to share an interesting detail about the HGTV Dream Home 2012 exterior. Each portion of the home will be identified by its own unique exterior cladding. And I have it on pretty good authority that the game room wing will be clad in crib framing. I can’t wait to see this treatment.
I hope you enjoy today’s photo, pulled from our construction site camera.

30 DAYS Mary?
Speaking of blue, if you walk up Park City Main Street, in the historic area of town many houses and buildings are blue. I think it must go back to the days of the mining town history that blue was popular. The old post office on Main is the same color as the Dream House, mainly blue but with wheat-color trim, and it is a very handsome building. I bet Linda and the HGTV team researched the color choices with a mind to authenticity. There are no accidents.
That's interesting that so many building in Park City are blue. Maybe that's where Linda or whomever chose the house color got their inspiration. I really do like the blue on our house now that I've seen it completed (the cladding, I mean).
irishsprite, the house is incredible, I can't think of a good "superlative" beyond that!
I know what you mean. Incredible is a good word! I too am running out of words that I can use to describe this magnificent home.
Since tomorrow is Sunday, we can call it "divine" or "heavenly," that works for me.
Divine is a word I haven't used in a very long time…it's perfect for tomorrow! Or heavenly divine, or…lol!Speaking of heavenly divine and perfect, Irene is actually causing us to have the most perfect summer day! 80 degrees and sunny with a light breeze out of the north (that's from Irene). I feel too guilty to actually enjoy it too much though because she's wreaking havoc on so many others! It's amazing how one hurricane can produce two diametrically opposed weather outcomes on the same day. I hope everyone in her destructive path stays safe!!
I forget what city you are in, but I do wish you well and, hopefully, safe from the storm. We have relatives in Stowe, VT. I'm sure they will get some rain.
I'm in Columbus, OH and, therefore, completely safe from the storm. We may get some rain from it early in the coming week but that's all I'm expecting. Your family in Stowe may get a little more rain from Irene. I think they are right on the edge of the outside path I recently saw. I've been watching the blog cabin location in Susan, VA, which is right on Mobjack Bay at the western-side entrance to Chesapeake Bay. It looks like the eye is going right over the house. She's stood for over 100 years so I'm hoping the grand lady rides out this storm with her usual grace and style! Mary posted a blog concerning Irene and the BC where she also commented that the earthquake the other day did not cause any problems or damage. It's been quite a week, weather wise, for the mid-Atlantic area!
Back last Sept. or October, a Tatterson family member mentioned the last big hurricane there did have water lapping at the Twin Coves' front door; the weather reporters have said that this hurricane is not as harsh as that one…and after checking the DIY blog, a friend of Matt Blashaw's was able to drive by Twin Coves today and said that the house itself looks to be ok.
Glad to hear the BC is okay.
Thanks for the first-hand update.
Ugh! It has been an entire month since Mary gave us an update. Time for something new……..please show us the progress on this home.
Summer, did you check out the new pictures Mary posted earlier this week? Here's the link
http://www.hgtv.com/about-us/hgtv-dream-home-2012…
coming to this blog and finding nothing new posted for so long is almost as bad as learning the dream home winner early….Major Disappointment.
Disappointing, for sure, and I've had the good fortune to see the house being built. I keep looking every day for new pictures.
Remember last spring when Mary told us to "cool our jets?" Well, speaking of being cool, I just received my Locals Coupon Book for Deer Valley skiing. If you have local ID (proof of Utah residency), you can buy early season passes or coupon books for a slight discount. One of the most popular is the adult book of 10 coupons for $610. If anyone wants to check out the prices, try this: <a href="http://www.deerlocals.com” target=”_blank”>www.deerlocals.com. These passes must be purchased by Oct. 31.
For those who want a full season pass, for an adult, it costs $1,725 before Oct. 31 and $2,025 after that. Yikes! I'm glad I don't ski!! By the way, there is a special season pass for military for "only" $880/$990 and it isn't good for the Christmas holiday.
At Sundance, seniors can get an all-day pass for $12! Sundance is only a few minutes from here. Deer Valley is the closest ski resort to the Dream House and is very convenient because they have a lift that connects from a place called "Mayfair" which is just about 15 minutes drive from the Dream House. That will get you into Park City quite easily.
It is very hot here today, I hope I've cooled you off, thinking about all the snow to come. People with money come to Park City, you see, many possibilities for the lucky winner to rent out the house to defray expenses. I think this was a great choice of location for that reason, among others.
The Deer Valley resort is the most expensive to ski, the Canyons is also "up there," and the most affordable and equally nice, is Park City Mountain Resort. For those of you who like more of an "extreme" experience, you'll want to go ski Alta, which is ONLY for skiiers (no snowboards). I think Deer Valley is that way, too, no snowboards, but Deer Valley is more of a "groomed" area and caters to an older crowd.
I think that renting our house would be the most wise thing to do. At least for a few years to get a savings built up and things. Although, this is only my opinion, doesn't make it right.:S
Considering the location and proximity to the resorts and Park City, I think the home is definitely rentable and that it could be kept. My neighbor is in real estate so if you win, I'll connect you with him to get a recommendation of a rental agency and work out the details. He's someone I would trust all the way. Somewhere down the road, I'm sure someone out here in bloggerville will come up with the figures on expenses to keep the property. Wait and see.
You are a gem !! I always try to think up practical ways to keep a giveaway home if I were ever to win. That means making the property "pay for itself" somewhat. Your local knowledge and the RE contacts make it seem all the more feasible.
LL, you're the kind of person who believes "where there's a will there's a way" and will find that way. I admire that spirit.
Wow, glad I don't ski either – way too expensive at some of those resorts! I wonder if there are any restrictions in the bylaws about renting out the house occasionally because that would be a very smart way to keep the house. The cash that usually accompanies the DH will pay a good portion of the taxes (I'm assuming as I don't have any exact figures) but it has in past years and the additional income derived from renting it out should pay the remainder along with the general upkeep, I would think.
Most likely you could rent it out, same as the Stowe house is now being rented by the winners. I'm sure we'll talk this subject in detail after the contest starts.
You're right again, bee. The cost of keeping the house is always discussed in great detail once the contest starts, no point in bringing it up too soon…lol!
Hi beesknees, I just stopped by to tell you to include some info about St. George Utah, a Shakespeare and performance mecca for families during the summer. I have family that just went there over the weekend. You were in my thoughts and wish I was there.
Many Utahns often have a second home in St. George. I've only been there once and that was when we were "homeless" for 5 months waiting for our house in Midway to be built. The best thing is the proximity of St. George to Zion and Bryce National Parks. I've never attended the plays at Tuacuan Theatre in the Desert, and it is very popular. http://www.utah.com/arts/tuacahn.htm
St. George is a few hours south of Midway in southern Utah.
Thanks bees, I think that toward the middle of Sept I will go see t the Tuacuan Theatre. It's about two hours from where I will be in Nevada. Thanks for the link, and will check it out. My extended family said that they went to the theater and during a "Grease" producction actually witnessed a waterfall from the rock be incorporated into the stage production. Amazing
Oh Mary, have you forgotten us?:( Maybe she wants us to reach 1000 comments, let's just keep commenting people! lol. I have missed chatting with you all, how are you doing Beehive?
Hi worldtravelerr, welcome back! We are over 1000 comments already and working on 2000, I guess, before Mary posts a new blog. Thankfully, we have beehive to keep us up-to-date on our house. She's been doing her usual fabulous job with lots of buzz to keep us entertained!!
Yes Beehive is awesome with her great info. I enjoy myself. I wonder where Mary has went? I hope the next blog update is much more exciting from Mary lol. Because, it has been over a month! Can't believe it!
We've got Beehive. She is a wealth of information. I don't expect any new pictures anymore. I sign on to read Beehive's comments!
Ksmort, that is right, Beehive should be getting paid from Hgtv! She updates and gives us lots of information about the area from the weather to deals on skiing! She should be the dream home blogger!
Well thank you but I think it's me who's having the most fun these days. Good to see you back on here, worldtravelerr.
Good to see you too Beehive! I see you have been keeping this blog lively!
Hi everyone, I know that we are all listening closely to the news about this fierce storm working it's way along the east coast. My prayers go out to all of our friends family and neighbors and hope everyone is safe and riding it out. RJMStone, I know you are near a shoreline along the east coast- closer to Boston perhaps, I hope you stop by to let us know you are AOKAY and show us your pippy self. To my friend ttsousa who spent lots of time in the Carolinas, I hope all is well with you. How is the Blog Cabin in Susan? not one hair on your beautiful head should be blown astray.
Hi Janzee, here's the link to Mary's post on the Blog Cabin and Irene
http://blog.diynetwork.com/blogcabin/2011/08/26/i…
thanks irish! I'm a ok in New York here
Glad to hear it! Me too – Columbus, OH
Good to hear! I didn't get it bad, but my friends who only live 20 minutes from me got flooded bad!
Hi worldtraveler, I cant get back to anyone's posts, so I am choosing this one to respond to your last message. I am from Yonkers, but spent every weekend in the city. Dad worked in the city, and had family that living there, and that became my second home, then we moved to Florida for a few years, then Tucson.
I know the blogs are being weird like that haha. Very cool, I'm from Poughkeepsie. I'm a suburbs girl:) What part of Florida did you live in? How do you like Tucson? I would love to move somewhere warm, dreaming of Hawaii lol. I didn't get hit too bad with the hurricane, but people 20 minutes from me it was terrible, and the catskills are ridiculous!
Hi worldtravelerr, did you hear anything about VT? I have family in Stowe.
Hi world, I've lived in nine cities and twelve residences, from cold to hot with mountains and then on to open rolling hills. I loved Tucson, and always felt I was part of the old west. Florida was my old standby, and seemed to return to Miami, and Ft. Lauderdale. every few years. Flash forward to the sweeps and the blogs on HGTV, I fell in love with Sandia New Mexico, and then NY my old stomping grounds, Stowe Vermont,Chicago, Susan and now the new kid on the block Midway Utah. World, I dont think I have lited down on my favorite place yet, and feel that the DIY network has shown us all an interesting direction for research. What can I say, I am probably in the same boat as so many on the site, and would relocate to a new wonderous adventure and homesite
That's good to hear! You take care.
thank you, you too!
Hi worldtravelerr, even better today knowing that the worst has past, and it will be business as usual as tomorrow. I miss NY, and feel ever closer when I know my family and friends are experiencing these weather conundrums.
What part of New York are you from?
So interestingly enough, I’m in the area this weekend for a friend’s wedding between Orem and Heber City. I passed by the house the other day (before a nasty t-storm last night, I might add!) And it looks great! Between the most recent picture in the slideshow and now, there doesn’t seem to be much progress but its in fine shape and looking quite blue. In nearby Midway, I’m itching to go check out this one pizza place and the Swiss confectionaries before I leave the area. Also, I can wait to hike over to Bridal Vale Falls in the Provo canyon! As I understand it, this year has been uncharacteristically wet so the hills are greener than normal and the waterfalls are much more spectacular than normal! If I could post pictures here, I most certainly would, but for now, I’m currently sitting in beautiful weather at the Sidetrack Cafe in nearby Heber, 3 miles south of the house B-)
Hi, I was just thinking about our house and the kitchen and wondering, do you think Linda will have a "farmhouse" sink in there? I love that style so much and wish I had one in my house. I was at Pottery Barn last week and they had some big planked farmhouse tables, I can visualize that looking so fabulous in the dining room… I also actually saw one of those "tractor" chairs, believe it or not… NO NO NO LINDA, don't go there!
A tractor chair – oh, please no! I hope Linda got her fill of unusual chairs when she decorated the GH and won't put something like that in our house…lol A farmhouse sink would be great; I think they look so good! I have been thinking about the dining room table as well and your idea of a planked farmhouse table is a good one. It looks like the dining area is plenty big and shouldn't have any trouble holding one. I'm hoping the kitchen is rather rustic with some stonework somewhere. Do you think Linda is reading all our decorating ideas? I hope so. I can't wait to see what she does with our house!
I hear the Green Home in Stapleton is vacant and I think Linda went over there with Mary to get that radiator chair for the Dream Home. You never know!
Reminds me of the fruit cake story, the gift that keeps being re-gifted! The radiator chair is indeed a piece that you can't overlook, or forget. I would like to own it just for the conversation quirky side of it, probably wouldn't ever get sat in. Unless you used it for time outs. But would that be considered child abuse?:):):)
No, no, no! Not the radiator chair! I'm sorry Linda, but I REALLY didn't like that chair at all – even as a conversation piece! I think it should stay very far away from out house.
Hi!
Bopped in here, and wow, there is a lot I missed, but with what was written….sort of caugh up. Dittos on that tractor chair, but as we all know, Linda does have her own unique style, which I adore. It's been a while since Mary gave us a new newsflash, must be on vacation.
The storm didn't do much hereTG, more north they got wiped out. It truely is frightful, and we can't do a thing to stop mother nature.:'(
I love Linda Woodrum and her style, too. I don't know how she does it time after time! The only thing is, I think she has a bit of brain fog where some certain chairs are concerned.
Hi, thanks for your new post and updates. Does the Deer VAlley lift get you into Park City, is that what you are saying? like taking a bus. Park and ride. That is v ery convenient.
Yes, that's right. Deer Valley has a connection at Mayfair, which is by Highway 40, so you don't have to drive all the way into Park City. Saves time. I forgot to mention but I believe Deer Valley has a daily limit on number of skiiers. People who ski DV love it but the “extreme skiiers” say it's “groomers.”
Thank you for replying. I really love your blog and enjoy staying connected to the dream home this way. From: notifications@intensedebatemail.comTo: joanharman@hotmail.comSubject: beehivestate replied to your comment on Crib Framing
Isn't lutefisk codfish soaked in kerosene? Who in their right mind would like THAT?~
One of our favorite places to visit in Seattle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGlDVmBLibg&fe…
Alice, I loved Ballard! My favorite place was Fisherman's Terminal. My dad was a halibut fisherman (after retiring from Boeing) and he kept his boar there. We also loved the Viewlands Ice Creamery on Greenwood Avenue. And by the way, what ever happened to Stan and NoMo?
Mrs. Bee thank goodness your Dad had a place to keep his boar, bet it made your Mom happy. Not good having boars running around in your yard in the middle of Seattle. Think Stan is still performing at least that is what I could find when I researched. NoMo was so cute. The show was so much fun to watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsadNBgoPio&fe…
Hope you don't mind but I had so much fun with your typo. The last time I laughed so hard was when SandyLA called us forks instead of folks. I needed a laughing break today. Thanks so much beehivestate you rock!
Alicesoneysmom, I have to give you TWO THUMBS UP for making me laugh, too funny! The name of my dad's boat was the "Escape," I guess with 5 kids that's what he was wishing for! Do you remember Brakeman Bill McLain on Channel 11? When my husband and I moved back to the Tacoma WA area, we bought Brakeman Bill's house! Of course when we bought it, we didn't know it was Brakeman Bill's but I found an old travel poster with his picture on it and asked the realtor, who was also our new neighbor. Later on, Bill told us that he and Jean had big parties there and that all the TV personalities had been to "our" house… JP Patches, Gertrude, Wunda Wunda, Stan Boreson… I always loved that house, it has a good energy!

You know, I was just thinking about Mary's original post in which she told us about using the trestle wood from the Lucin railroad cutoff across the great Salt Lake. Considering the wood beams in the great room appear to be glu-lam, I wonder if the trestle wood will be flooring, or perhaps a table or wall. It's fun to speculate, isn't it?
I had forgotten about the trestle wood, thanks for reminding me. Maybe that's what they'll use to make a big farm table for the dining room. Wouldn't that be cool?
It would make a magnificent dining table but I visualize it as planked floors on the main level.
I didn't know there was enough to do that – wow!!!
Well, they never said there wasn't enough for floors and in the articles I read, some people used that reclaimed wood for floors. There is a lodge at Soldier Hollow that used it extensively in the interior.
Oh wow! Floors from that reclaimed wood would be awesome and go perfectly with how I picture the interior looking. I've also been thinking about the stonework you saw inside the french doors in the great room. I wonder what that's all about?
This is off topic but it just occured to me what the finished exterior reminds me of: a 'jumble' of buildings. Meaning like 'distressed' furniture. Artfully old and very chic. If that's what the archs are getting at, that is very exciting. I'd never s een that in building design. Only furniture. But its my very favorite. I'm still on "distressed' white with 1 garden console type table in pale green and 'distressed' gold mirrors. I think the house is fabulous and so creative. And you know who is just the one up to furnish it. Cheers to everyone. This is Sunday – post hurricane day and thankfully everything already back to normal here in Virginia. Thankfully quiet and rid of those howling winds!!
Those "arches" and posts on the porches are typical of the Craftsman style that is popular in this area. And I noticed through the guest suite windows there is Craftsman trim around a door. It's a comfortable look, I hope they do more with it.
So do I, especially after seeing what can be done with the craftsman-style in the Urban Oasis condo!
Hi, I just got up early and there is a new picture on the DH main page, which is a small rendering of the kitchen/dining area floor plan with more detail. I'm all excited and then I realize it's the ONLY new picture. Perhaps it is a "harbinger" of bigger things to come today, I hope so! Thanks, Mary.
Hope springs eternal, and it does seem like an eternity since we've gotten any tidbits from Mary. She's been busy, perhaps she needs an assistant. I know a lot of bloggers who would be glad to fill the job.
Mary, are you listening?
Every little bit helps! I'm glad for any interior details.
The kitchen looks so much bigger in the new rendering! I can see 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, and double ovens. Perfect for entertaining or a houseful of guests. I can't wait to see it when it's completed!
Still no word from Mary? Hmmm, seems like the only way to get Mary's attention is to have dangerous weather threaten the home! But we could never wish that on beehivestate, so we will just have to be content with beehivestate's daily updates. Luckily for us, she does a wonderful job, but I really do think it's time Mary gave her a day off!
Well I'm back to babysitting Lars now so I may have more than a day or so off b/c I'll be mostly in Park City and after hours, you-know-who (bad bad Leroy Brown the security guy) is on duty. I wish HGTV would give me a "permission to snoop" badge!
Since you've been filling in for Mary (so to speak) you should definitely get a "permission to snoop" badge. After all, if it wasn't for you we would now one-tenth of what's going on at our house. Have fun with Lars but we'll miss your buzzes!!
I have a question, will any of the back porches be screened in? I think it would be terrific to be able to sit out in a screen porch and enjoy the views on a nice evening, without the bugs! I can hardly wait to see more of this fabulous home. Great job so far HGTV!!!!
I don't think the bugs are that bad in that area, Ladny, but I am hoping that Beehivestate can tell us for certain.
Hi Ladny, I see no signs of a screen porch yet but I'm with you, it's a good idea and probably typical of an old farmhouse. I'll keep looking. Bugs aren't too much problem here but with proximity to the river, it might be different. I did get a few mosquito bites while out there sleuthing.
I definitely vote for a screened porch even if bugs aren't a big deal. The studio wing seems like a good place for one since it's off by itself.
I am beginning to think there is a serious problem at the Dream Home. I can't remember ever going more then a month without any updates during construction. I hate to think bad things but…..
well then, don't think bad things. The house is under construction, I see it every day and it's coming right along.
Hey, remember a few weeks ago when Mary said the film crew was getting ready for some kind of Dream House special for one of their networks? Maybe that's why she hasn't given out more pictures and information… because there is even better to come along very soon.
I'm not sure I remember that but I'm sure glad you did. I wonder what they have in store for us? I do remember Mary mentioning something about HGTVPro and (maybe?) videos in mid-August, but nothing ever came of it. Do you recall that?
yes that was it.
I think that they may be working on the web page, because everything is still from the 2011 Dream Home like all the videos and pics and stuff. Im not sure when they changed it over last year it was my first time ever hearing about an HGTV Dream Home and it wasn't till late December.
So does anyone know when they changed the web page over last year from all the 2010 Dream Home stuff?
Still the Crib framing ???? We are feeling so forgotten and lost. Mary, please give us something new to talk about. We miss your loving attention, Mary.
Loved this and wanted to share it to fellow bloggers:
"The first day of school our professor introduced hiself and challenged us to get to know someone we didh't already know. I stood up to look aroud when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.
I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being…She said, 'Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven yearls old. Can I give you a hug?' I laughed and enthusiastically responded, 'Of course you may!' and she gave me a giant squeeze… 'Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?'' I asked. She jokingly replied, 'I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…' 'No seriously,' I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. 'I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!' she told me.
Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, 'I'm sorry. I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.'
As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, 'We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing . There are only four secrets to staying young being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humour every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.
We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even kinow it! There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.
Anybody can grow older! That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets….'
She concluded her speech by courageously singing 'The Rose.' She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those months ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.
REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.
For your listening pleasure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfUWub8xjdY
What a beautiful story, it brought tears to my eyes! Rose is truly an inspiration for us all. Thank you for sharing such an incredible woman with us.
The link to the construction pictures, part 2 seems to be broken. I even tried accessing them from the original pictures and no go. Maybe Mary is updating the pictures for us!
The link seems to be working now, I guess it was just a blip. No updated pictures though. Sigh..
Now she did! Only 8 pictures though.=/
I don't have any updated pictures, part 2 still only goes to 33 when I click on it. What link are you using for the new pics?
Where in the heck are they?
Oh i thought she updated eight new pictures. oh well sorry to start the confusion
I just checked out the sketch for the kitchen on the dream home main page. Looks great, love it. now I realize why there was no door from the kitchen to the deck. The kitchen is not next to the deck. Duh!
It also shows the powder room. The walk in closet and bathroom for the downstairs bedroom are shown as well. It does not show a tub or shower for that bathroom. I hope that is just an over-site. So far loving what I see.
I noticed that, too. Perhaps an oversight. I can't imagine a full bathroom without a tub or shower. I'm thinking these sketches are pretty sketchy.
But the diining area in the kitchen is next to the deck.
I hope that that they finally are listening to us and putting in a zero threshhold shower in that bath!
That would be a great plan. I agree with you.
I agree as well, adding that kind of a shower is overdue for both the Green home and the Dream home, everyone could still use that shower.
Truly a DREAM Home! When will we be able to enter to win? When will it be awarded? This Home is breathtaking!!!!!!
Entries for the 2012 Dream Home start at the end of December and the winner is normally notified in Mid March.
Maybe Mary is waiting till Labor Day to post something. Speaking of Labor Day i can't believe it's next Monday!
Mary, where did you post the new construction pics, I can't find them anywhere!
Hi irish, I've been busy chasing a little 20 pounder around all day. Have you seen new construction pictures because I've looked everyplace, even at HGTVPro, and none to be found. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
No, I haven't seen any, that's the problem. fdteam posted that there were eight new pictures but I haven't been able to find them. I've looked everywhere too!
Hope you had a good day with Lars, you're probably exhausted!
Where is everybody? We are all alone in the Twilight Zone. Mary can't you hear that poor man's pleas for help? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbMk_ZUkEu0&fe…
I was wondering the same thing – where did everybody go?
Mary I guess we will have to give you something to talk about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z04r_tlWdRs
Definitely we are talking! The question is who's listening? Or is anyone out there?
MARY HELP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU7JjJJZi1Q

Hey Mary we wondered about Twin Coves and found it was okay! We know there were problems in VT. How about Dream Home 2011, is it okay ?
What are the problems in Vermont?
In southern VT there was flooding due to very heavy rains and a few of the historic covered bridges were swept away.
Brenda, I found these pictures of the devastation to VT. It is pretty shocking and sad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnRsnr7vVHE&NR…
Have you talked to your relatives in Stowe?
I found a VT Facebook page where businesses are posting their status and if they've been affected by Irene. There was a ski resort in Stowe that reported Irene completely missed the area. I assume that means the 2011 DH is safe. Bee, hopefully that means your relatives are okay as well.

The west finally got a break today. The temprature was in the 80s. It was 109 in my backyard and 116
on Saturday at a family function. Lost a couple of new small plants. Can't be outside and indoor temp.
couldn't keep up with it all and it was muggy to boot. Nothing like what is happening in the east.
Every year it seems to be getting worse. Mother Nature is getting crabby in her elderly state. I think she
just wants us all to pay attention to what is happening in the world. P E A C E P L E A S E. Mary pretty
please come back and at least tell us everything is OK!!!!
Yes, PEACE is a good thing. Sandy, it has been so hot here, too, tonight I told my DH that I couldn't remember ever being so "drained" by the summer heat as this year. Maybe just that I'm getting older or not used to chasing a little toddler around, but I feel whipped. The pink yarrow I brought back from Telluride looks really bad, as if the grasshoppers got to it and ate all the leaves.
I like this house, but there are few things I do not like at all: separation of bedrooms upstairs, what if someone has a child? to get to the other bedroom upstairs we have to go downstairs and upstairs again. Not comfortable for family with small child. Also I am wondering if the location is flood proof…..
