Crib Framing

Hi all,
I thought I’d pop in today to share an interesting detail about the HGTV Dream Home 2012 exterior. Each portion of the home will be identified by its own unique exterior cladding. And I have it on pretty good authority that the game room wing will be clad in crib framing. I can’t wait to see this treatment.
I hope you enjoy today’s photo, pulled from our construction site camera.

It is wonderful Mary. I love the way it is coming along. Can't wait to see more.
it is looking great hope to see more .
I love that stone work. It looks great.
Me too, the more I see it, the more I'm in love with the house. It's beginning to get the "old farmhouse" ambience, that's the look they're going for.
Sorry, my last comment got deleted: "Oh, I wish my porch had stones like that."
Thanks for the update, Mary. Just a tid bit, enticing us and leaving us craving for more juicy info! The stone work is lovely!
Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!!! Ladders, ladders everywhere!! Mary, what in the heck is "crib" framing, in which the game room will be clad? You are sending me back to google, which just sends me back to HGTV Dream Home… another wild goose chase. Guess I'll have to make a trip to the house today and check it out.
beehivestate, hi its. Janzee. I have the same question. I know this has probably already been answered, but when I built my home in Yuma Az., I dont remember this term and cant seem to find it on google.
Hi Janzee, it's horizontal boards like you would see on a barn and they left some 2 x 4's on the outside of the wall and painted them the same blue as the wall… I mean, it's very much an "unfinished" look. A couple of the 2 x 4's are even at a diagonal. I don't know if this is finished work or not but it's on the game room side and I'm watching it closely. Hopefully Mary will give a good photo real soon. I seriously can hardly believe they mean to leave it like it is now.
Glad to see you back on here. I saw your "App" today in the field just across the road and to the north of the Dream Home.
bee- I just read your post, and I get the chills. You have to receive some sort of reward for the remarkable care, and love for the this home and your town. A bunch of us want to give you a great big hug, and cant wait. So amazzing that the boards are already in, and painted the same color as the walls. Wow!!!!!!. Are there any pictures available? What color blue? I also saw a smidgen of brick work on one of the exterior walls. What kind of brick is it- used perhaps?
I was in La Palma California last week, and found a silky terrier which I was able to get back to his owner after a few days of working with a local friendly police officer. I was told that some of the local animal control centers actually have horses for adoptions. Someday, someday, after visiting your neck of the woods, I want to look into the eyes of that Appy, or adopt my own critter, that would be comfortable enough to walk right into a house, and steal an apple from the counter.
Janzee, hi and back at you, the blue is almost pastel, I would say “periwinkle,” pretty unusual for a house but who knows what they have in mind. I can't wait for you to see those horses, I always see that “appy” and say it's yours.
How kind and gracious you are beehivestate. The periwinkle color sounds like a fantastic choice if it stays and is a cameleon of a color in the way it brings out wood.
When you tell these wonderful stories, I always feel right there, and on any given day I can hear the call of the horses which makes me think of the high spirited quality of an Appy.
Here's what I found about "crib" framing. Notched logs? Hmm, very interesting… http://www.farmbuildingguide.org/cribbarns.html
Now they can add Utah to the "Geographic Distribution" section! Since it's going on our Dream Home!
Thank you Mary!! We are loving the progress of the house! It's exciting to be having a part of this wonderful journey with you!
Thank you for posting this for us, beehivestate! I didn't know what it was either. ^_^
Notched logs! I love the idea and can't wait to see how it looks! Thanks for the info beehive!
I'm in suspense to see it in real time!
Good find. When I googled crib framing, I only got instructions on how to make a baby's bed!
Thank you for looking this up for us. Reading the text.. its pedigree sounds interesting, esp about its Appalacian heritage…but Beehive that ain't no Architectural Digest. LOL Really it could be very cool siding. Want to see more soon. Thank you so much for keeping us all up to date.
Dear beehive, I sure owe you a reply for your very gracious comment to me a few weeks ago. I've been trying to drum up business between Vegas and Cali and rack in some writing assignments. As you know writers flourish, or they need to plant new seeds- that is my situation right now, and enjoying the moment. I can't wait to go back to the blog, and catch up on all of your updates that are sooo creative, newzy, and offer an unusual very fresh style. I thank you for the "aura" compliment, and feel the same about you kid. You are holding down the fort here at the best Okay corral, and we are all very appreciative for your updates. I like what's going on the blog, folks are supportive, add to the mix, and are very much in love with your Utah, and the fantastic work HGTV is putting in this house. The Middletown home in my opinion will be the very best yet.
soo cool! Thanks for the info!
As I sit here drooling over these pictures, I think to myself, "oh, how nice that will be when it is done!" It almost brings me to tears. How crazy is that? BeaUTiful!!!
Looks like the back deck will be the perfect place for our blogger party!! So pretty!!
We're going to have to have the party catered by The Store (Meyer's Catering) in Midway. They have all the best goodies!! And, of course, Brenda will bring the cupcakes… I like red velvet and cream cheese icing and rainbow sprinkles. And ice cream, to go with, be sure we get the ice cream in the round containers, maybe Ben & Jerry's in honor of Stowe. Cherry Garcia would go great with those cupcakes!
I'm not much of a cook but I know all the good neighbors in Midway and we can make it a potluck and I'll introduce you to these lovely people!
beehivestate, you are a one woman Welcome Wagon–every community in the country should have someone with the heart and generosity you have. As others have said, to read all your posts, we already feel like we know the area and have a good friend there. It is such an up and coming area with such boundless natural beauty, it is easy to understand your enthusiasm for Midway. You are making many want to relocate there.
BrendainKs, I think your idea of a diaper service there is brilliant. Does Utah have any small biz incentives you could look into ?
Thanks LLColeman! I appreciate your support! And I've NEVER been called "brilliant" before!
I will need to see if there is a Chamber of Commerce or an Entrepreneurial Center there. I know there is Midway Business Alliance who may have information for me. I may need to call them when I get to Midway. I hope no one thinks of it before I get there.
We have the Midway Foundation for the Arts, Brenda, and I would certainly think cupcakes qualify as an art form. I don't think we have a Chamber of Commerce in Midway but we do have our Midway Boosters.
What about the diaper service, beehivestate? Do you think Midway Foundation for the Arts would be able to help me? I don't want to take away any business from Country Corner Bakery. You said they have wonderful treats and cupcakes at their place? Seems you don't have a cloth diaper service there and the demand is there. Which do you think would be more productive?
Probably the cloth diaper service would be better, Brenda, because there's no competition far as I know. Leave it to your fellow bloggers to come up with a name for your new business, there are some very creative minds in this little "family" maybe it could be something that ties in with Mary's "crib" theme! I'll have to start looking for a building for you, since we know the CC&R's would not allow it in River Meadows.
I have a name already and an EIN number for it unless some one has a better idea. Then I can cancel my EIN number. Although it's a Kansas EIN number. I suppose I would have to have one for Utah.
I want to call it "Little Angel's Diaper Service" (LADS) with a catch phrase of "It's Time For a Change." I hope no one takes this and runs with it. Just sayin.
You may have to blog in code, Brenda, as the publicity for this Dream Home (and interest in the blog grows), just to be on the safe side. I LOVE the catch phrase–for an obvious reason, but also because the environment needs a change from landfills burdened w/ disposables as well.
I retired from bankrupt CA schools but still need an income, so I really relate to your quest for starting a small business. I have lots of ideas, and come up w/ clever biz names and occasional mottos, so I appreciate your idea. I live in Silicon Valley, home to massive layoffs & lots of entrepreneurs. Almost every business idea has been covered here…if you can move to the Midway area, it has growth potential & sound like lots of young families will be there.
You might want to look into commercial space in nearby communities, not just Midway, where you could get a good deal on a lease–I wonder if an old laundromat would qualify, if the water temp could be hot enough for sterilizing, etc. (You can tell I know nothing about this biz, xcept as a consumer. I had cloth diapers for both my sons 32 yrs. ago. I was dismayed when my grandkids were put in disposables>)
I do worry about the budget crisis and what could happen to small biz & start up funding. Diaper service could qualify as a "green business" but I don't know if the new green biz funding would cover it. I'd suggest you look into that aspect.
With the large population of Mormons in Utah, and reference to Latter Day Saints shortened to 'LDS' it is possible the 'LADS' business may be a good fit there, lol. If you succeed at this, let the bloggers know, and we can toast you with a "Bottoms Up", LOL !
lol That's funny! Yes, I was concerned about privacy when I first talked about it, so maybe I shouldn't.
If I don't win our house, I will still want to move to Midway, but not for three more years when my son graduates. It's the perfect place for me, mountains, cooler weather, snow, all the activities that beehivestate has mentioned and is excited about.
The catch phrase has three meanings to me. One, like you said about the overcrowding of landfills, two, it's time to change the baby's diaper more often so they don't get diaper rash, (ok, maybe more reasons), better for the health of your baby, and the final reason, it's time for a change in my life.
I was looking at the population of Midway and it had broken down age brackets and it does look like there are more younger couples with children living there. I am considered one of the older brackets and I'm not even 50 yet, but close. lol.
I will definitely tell you when I start my business!
Thanks again!
The blog is about the house, not me.
"Nothing happens unless first a dream." See you soon in Midway!
BrendainK's, pay attention to LLColeman's advice regarding blogging in code. I can't stress this enough also. There are a lot of very nice people out there …… but use common sense when blogging and sharing personal stuff online. It only takes one individual to cause a major disruption in your online enjoyment.
To hokiemom…..then we just won't talk about it anymore. Problem solved.
I would rather talk about the house anyway. So…..Isn't it really pretty? I love everything about "our" house and all the activities to do there all year round!
I don't want to be the major disruption of enjoyment. It's ok. No worries.
I'm sure what was meant, BrendainKs, is that you're one of the many nice people who blog here — most certainly not a source of disruption!
Great business idea, it seems to me, by the way, and I hope it works out just as you've planned.
My motto is Dare To Dream! I'm amazed at the numbers of people who fail to do so.
Just another reason why the Dream Home Sweepstakes (among others) is so much fun.
<3
BrendainKs–yes the blog is about the house, but in the few years I have been on these blogs, a number of people have gone off on tangents and side stories. It is all part of this blog community; we can only write so much about the home at any given stage of construction. Once we get new info or photos of the house, back to blogging about the house again.
By "code", I just meant you can refer to your" business plan" in future, and we will know what you mean… I just had a concern more people in Utah may join in the blogs in the fall & winter– and get some idea that THEY could make a go of the same service. (Like cupcake bakeries–they are all over CA now, and no doubt elsewhere).
Coop writes a lot about the value of dreams on these blogs, and it is nice to see his endorsement of your plan. I agree that the only "disruption" would be if someone stole your business plan, your dreams are absolutely no distraction from the Dream Home !
Thank you LLColeman. I never intended to be a distraction. That is the LAST thing I want to do. My business is a DREAM, just like everyone is dreaming of winning the Dream Home. I have been working on this for 20 years and the timing hasn't been right. IT'S JUST A DREAM.
I appreciate Coops advice and everyone else's and I appreciate your concern and everything is fine. We will continue to have fun on this blog and keep dreaming!!
And you can still move to Midway when you win the house, right? "Business plan" or no. There's always room for someone as nice as you. And I will help you find the right location for the venture. You are a blessing, not a distraction.
<3
I think she was trying to protect your privacy as much as anything, Brenda. When more people come on the blog, they're pretty good at googling info about others and blabbing it. Remember when the last winners in Chicago had the price of their house posted by a snoopy blogger? A few years ago, someone also posted the phone number of the winners of the Green Home. You're so sweet, so nobody wants to see that happen to you. We all still want to know about your personal dreams, though, as well as your dreams about the Dream Home. Don't check out — you're so enthusiastic!
I understand everyone's point in protection and I appreciate your concern. I will still dream about my "venture" and the Dream Home as before. I won't give any more personal information since you guys know my dreams. I probably shouldn't have said that much, but I have, now it's over.
Now, on to Dream Land about "our" house!!
Thank you all for your kindness and the sweet things you say. Everything is fine.
You tell us when, or let the powers that be, leak it out, and we will bring our baskets of organic fruits and vegges right here and right now!!!
Crib framing I thought to myself? Do we have crib framing in California? Probably, out there somewhere, but at first, all I could find led me to articles about baby cribs. No, that can't be it, I reasoned. Finally got to the barn crib info. Now that's more likely. I think I get the idea now, but while most barn crib siding runs lengthwise, or horizontally (makes sense to me to "air" the corn, I guess), it is sometimes used vertically.
How will it be used on the Dream Home — up, down, right, left, over and out?!
Without further explanation from Mary, we'll be relying on our local eye in the Midway sky for some buzz from beehivestate on the state of crib framing at the Dream Home.
Speaking of cribs, I wonder if the lot will accommodate a corn field? I'll need plenty of it for all those summer BBQ parties.
Great idea, that corn field thing, Coop! Leave it to you to come up with the logical use of the other lot! if we're growing our own cornfield, it should be "knee high by the 4th of July," as I've been told.
Add that to our list to bring!!
Hiya Coop, whenever I read your posts I get sooo hungry.Hungry enough to corn cob nibble on Utah grown sweet corn. The thought of an outdoor BBQ, big enough and grand enough, to sprawl the whole lot of us on a corn field in the backyard of the HGTV Middletown home makes me think of one big voila party.
Midway loves you, Janzee!
Howdaya know this? I am smiling so much I cant stop. I feel Midway loves all of us. Tis a very loving community, and one way or taother, I would love to go there and spend time experiencing this glorious community. I have a feeling you may be seeing alot of us kids.
Hiya too, Janzee, and as always it's great to hear your impressions about the various HGTV homes, sights and insights from all of your interesting wanderings about the country.
You've conquered the big city of Chicago, the rural community of Midway — now on to the Susquehanna — and beyond!
From one adventurer to another dear Cooper and from the shores of Susquehanna, to the halls of HGTV, this gang is ready for the next great adventure. I hope that we lite down for a bit in Midway and get to have that BBQ you are talking about. By the way Coops, are your people from Susquehanna. Pennsylvania. There is a dam at the source of the Susquehanna River on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, New York . I am still looking for Coop clues, and that refreshingly is a matter of Intense Debate lol.
Does anyone know when we get to see the inside??? UGH! I JUST CANT WAIT ANYMORE!!! lol
Crib Siding example can be seen if you search Alchemy Architects Weehouse in the "downloads" and look for their "Exterior" finishes page. Basically it is a stained horizontal board siding with each "row" being a different height and with small reveals between each of the "rows".
Thanks, that's neat! Great description.
Thanks Jay, I would imagine this siding gives a very warm rustic appearance to the room. I wonder if the material used will be a recyled or local tree wood, or perhaps a veneer of some sort.
You guys, the crib siding on our DH looks NOTHING like the picture from Alchemy Architects page, sorry to say. Every horizontal row is the same width and there is no space reveals between the rows.
As always thanks for your clarifications beehive.
I'm thinking there has to be some kind of additional finish work on top of the crib siding that is already installed so it will look much better. What you are describing sounds unfinished compared to the rest of the house – even if it is supposed to look like an addition to the main house.
i would think so, too, irish but it looks like exterior finish right now.
Very Interesting !
I just love what they are doing to the back deck! The stonework is amazing. I can just picture a blogger party back there with a fire in the fireplace and the grill going strong. There will be a grill won't there?
Notice that the guest suite will have a view to the river and to the mountains and it's own walk-out door to the back deck.
I am sure this has been covered, but I ask anyway! When looking at a picture of the front door,
where exactly is the river? No matter which picture I look at I can not tell where it is. I think it
is out in back of the house. Is this correct?
SandyLA, if you walk through the front door you will go into the great room and then, if you walk pretty much straight ahead, you can go out onto the back deck and keep going straight if you want to go to the river. The river is at the back of the house. Does that make sense?
Yes, Bee, It is as I thought but sometimes I get confused. Thank You so much!
I' tell ya' this barn/crib theme is screaming Early American COW!
Too funny! I thought for sure you'd have a picture to go with that comment. Or maybe Alicesoneysmom will come up with a song.
I can see the interior. Farm implements hanging from the ceiling, scythes, oxen yokes, horse collar mirrors, an old plow for a coffee table base, the old wagon wheel chandelier, or the antler one. I would be afraid to post a picture. The floor of slate and rough paneled walls. Navajo rugs on the floor and matching blankets on the sofa? I prefer a little more refined. I know hard to believe.
Now that you mention it, you do seem the type of person who would have more "refined" sensibilities, hokiemom. Let's do without that oxen yoke but I like the blankets if they're Pendleton… and no no no wagon wheel lighting if you please, Mary.
Absolutely, Pendelton blankets!. Gosh knows they would come in handy in the winter! Hmmm now you have me thinking….. SAUNA. See any space for a SAUNA in the master bath? Or how about this: Can a little SAUNA hut be built down by the river? That would be totally awesome!!! Traditional Finnish SAUNA party! After you get all hot you can jump in the river and go back in for another round. Wrap yourself in your blanket and have a little vodka.
It appears that you are not as hokie as you may think!
Word on the street is that the Finns party naked. It's a family thing.
How would this do for your sauna hut ? http://www.flickr.com/photos/peppermintpinwheels/…
LLColeman, Wow, but I had something like this in mind http://www.harvia.fi/products?lang=en&gid=468. Usually the sauna is heated with electricity if inside, but the traditional sauna is heated with wood, which heats the rocks. When the rocks get hot you pour on some water to make some steam. Just in case you aren't hot enough. Before you go into the sauna, grab a few willow/birch branches, bundle together and proceed to beat yourself with them. You might burn yourself if the walls are also composed of rock. The wood walls remain cooler. And these little huts can be put on a skid and moved if the river floods. ( don't want it to float away downstream in the spring when the snow melts) .
I just love that building! The old one, that is. It looks like something from the corner on Main Street and River Road in Midway that has been under renovation since we moved here. So far all they've done over is the roof.
Hokiemom, I think I've found you a winner:
http://www.homeownernut.com/learning-interior-des…
Photo #1 is enough to give anyone design nightmares (although the others are just as bad)! xD
That's simply amazing, CplusE. Good score! How did you manage to get your hands on that advance picture (the one titled House Hunter) of Linda Woodrum's design sketches for the game room?
I'm especially fond of the wagon wheel chandelier but I could easily do without the stuffed bear. Imagine bumping into THAT in a darkened room!
LOL, Coop ! Linda W. promises you only Vermont Teddy Bears in her designs……..
CplusE: I. .I. I. I……. am speechless!!! Almost! Pass me the vodka. You are good! Can't believe you found that!!! Linda, make a note: This is not acceptable!
Even the wagon wheel ? LMAO! Unbelievable!
GET OUT! You've been in the sauna too long!
You have no idea! It has been so HOT here. Even at midnight it's still been over 90 F. You speak the truth. I'm going to go stick my head in the bidet and cool down.
CplusE—wow. hokiemom–put down that vodka ! The House Hunter shot reminds me of a scene in PeeWee Herman's movie "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", when the 'hero' finds himself in pitch black wilderness and lights a match to look around. He is surrounded by the biggest collection of taxidermal wildlife I'd ever seen–up until this House Hunter living room.
Coop, I know your kind of stuffed bear is the Vermont Teddy Bear sort.
Also the photo of the dual-purpose "office " has me worried that if we keep asking for an extra powder room or office in the DH, they might just decide to give us a multi-tasker like the flusher office, lol.
Exactly how I felt when I clicked on the photo! Love Pee Wee! Hilarious!
OMG! OMG!!
I have at least two of the things you mentioned in my home, but I am certain that I have already established the fact that I am not very refined!!
OOOOO an office and a potty in the same room??? How efficient. I'm not sure what refined means anymore. I'm sure this is a lot more fun.
Well, Wyoming, I hope at least you have a Pendleton blanket?!
Well, Wyoming isn't New York City, right, Wyo _ Girl ? Different regions can have different decor and refinement is in the eye of us beholders. That House Hunter room just went overboard–on everything !!
When we were looking for a home here in Midway, a place we were shown had a taxidermy life-sized elk! Can you believe it? I guess they really didn't want to sell all that bad because it was all you could remember about the house… a dead animal in the hall… yuk!
OMG, beehive !! That is too funny ! With all the shows HGTV aired about home staging for sellers, I don't think any stagers ever ran into that one ! Garish colors, bad furniture arrangements, 80's decor, clutter –yes. Giant stuffed elk ? Don't think I ever saw that !
Only thing worse would have been a recorded elk call wired into the doorbell, to enhance the hunting theme……
Ya know what? The real estate agent confided to me that the seller had refused several good offers and really didn't want to sell!
Well you guys so tastefully helped Linda W decorate the inside of our house but what about the outside. Here are just a few ideas. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7370855n
I really like it! Love the people hanging in the trees. I would totally have that sculpture in my yard!!! Alicesoneysmom, how do you find this stuff. You are amazing! Great reminder to expect some lovely outdoor art! The dream home will need to have some hand carved bears lounging on the gables. I saw this fantastic home near Lake Tahoe which had 3-4 carved bears; one asleep on eves, another looking in the window, plus other poses. It was fantastic. It could work for this home too! Perhaps also some stained glass windows might be pretty ? This house sure lends itself to the potential for some stellar outdoor art. Loved the outdoor art at the New Mexico home! Please keep that in mind. OH don't forget the crib framed Sauna down by the river!
alice—that is some front yard, but what–no plastic pink flamingos ? I think the people hanging in the tree swings are what we may see when a couple of bloggers can't face the reality of not winning one of the giveaway homes….. I am glad not to live in Virginia when they give away the Blog Cabin farmhouse… they might have to chase me out of the shrubbery, LOL!
How is soney enjoying the 'summer' weather up in Seattle ?
Here is what happened to the plastic pink flamingoes:
http://icanhascheezburger.com/2008/12/05/funny-pi…
Watch out — those dreaded gnomes could be headed your way next (and Coop's bear is leading the charge!):
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_UNenr-w6JF4/TBa-6zemxEI…
Jack T., please make sure this doesn't happen at "our" house!
That reminds me of a story. At our last home, a neighbor was a "very proper" lady with a formal front yard of which she was very very proud. Another neighbor and I saw a pink flamingo at a craft sale and we bought it and put it in the yard during the night. Surprise surprise! She left it there because she liked it!
Now I'm laughing all over again !! Mission NOT accomplished on that prank !! ROFL !!!
What about a pink flamingo for the Dream House? Something tasteful, of course!
Alice and Soney, that was so much fun — thanks for the video! I used to drive past a house with a lawn even gaudier than that in Arkansas. I always wanted to stop for a better look but it was beside the interstate and it just didn't seem safe to do that! ^_^
CplusE, LL, beehive, Dcoop, WyoGal, and everyone. This has been one of the most; gut busting, side splitting, tear producing series of exchanges I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of; I can't believe that I didn't take the time to try blogging before! What a comedy team! At this point the winning of this property is secondary. These social interactions are ….. priceless!!!!. Thanks for allowing me (encouraging me) to be a part of this.
You launched this last one, hokiemom ! You can go back in the blogs and read the ones from last year's Vermont Dream Home, whenever this blog slows down. It got pretty wild at times, also. Coop was going to start a pancake palace in several blogs, Cami was just outright hilarious all the time, there were funny stories about skiing mishaps–too many things to relate here. Even the Blog Cabin blog from last September was pretty funny when we got into posting about pirate history in VA and ghosts in Mobjack Bay.
Not to mention all the poetry and fiction writing…..some bloggers were in outer space for a while..
Glad you're part of the group, hokiemom — you fit in well! (I'm not sure that's a compliment or not, lol!)
This is cute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dE6YzFI4PM&fe…
And then there's the sequel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA-DzyacqO0&NR…
I don't even remember these — where have I been all this time? Oh yeah, on this blog! xD
You are so funny C&E. We are blaming our decorating madness on the sizzling heat we are experiencing here in rainy Seattle. It is a whopping 77 degrees and rising. This is fun and hope Linda W appreciates all our hard work.
I wonder if it will be something like this… http://weehouse.com/index.html#%20%20%20%20%20Bla…
Found that with the help of JayinTexas. Couldn't find his link to exterior finishes, so if somebody finds it please post. This is from the weehouse by Alchemy Architects.
Love the "Barn" house. Thanks for posting the link.
Excuse the pun, but that house is a little too "AWE-Steer " for my tastes.
Here is the link:
http://weehouse.com/pdfs/wee_options.pdf
It is a pdf file so it may take a little while to load. The first picture under Siding is what you are looking for.
Thanks so much, that is what I was looking for. I really like it, it's very distinctive and "organic" and suits the site so well.
The picture under Siding will go perfect with the stone that is on the back deck!!
I think that was a "duh" moment!
The Alchemy Architects weehouse is cute, but not much bigger than a good-sized powder room, and I prefer that any such rooms be inside the house rather than outside. Those Dream Home and Green Home powder rooms disappear all too often from the floor plans each year as it is. xD
All I could think of was a corn crib. Guess I'll have to wait and see.
Hey guys, I stand corrected by another blogger regarding the mountain in the background of the last group of pictures. I said it might be Mount Nebo but according to Timpgirl, it's not. Neither is it Mt. Timpanogos, so I still don't know what that mountain is called. Oh well! We're on to corn crib siding now anyway.
Crib framing huh. verrry interesting. I like it! Thanks to Beehivestate I now what it looks like. I also like the idea of each wing being clad in different treatments. Eclectic charm will be oozing from all sides. Can't wait to see the grand lady out of her pink slip, and into her new patchwork dress.
Check out the link that CplusE posted, it's way better than mine.
OOOOO! I absolutely love your way with words! Pink slip and patchwork dress. Brilliant!
Oh the wait – I look forward to looking at the step by step process of building the home. Like all DH's I'm sure it will be amazingly well built.
So, if we want to be a little slangy and hip when we go to the game room, we can say we're
hanging out at the "crib"? Thanks for placing a name on framing which I have probably seen
many times and taken for granted. I very much like the effect the architect is going for when
you think of additions added on over a period of time.
Love the new photo, and it's showing the stone wall that you described, Midway Girl! This one isn't in the time lapse photos yet, so we have a sneak peak, although you get to see it "live" every day.
Hey Wyo, just back after trying to get some work efforts in order. Did our newlyweds H_S and Susanmac post any wedding pictures?
They posted on Facebook, but I don't know if they shared that link on here. H_S sent me the greatest photo of their cake — I'll try to figure out how to post that!
Somehow we have to get them to Midway, surrounded by all of us. The magic of HGTV continues with surprises every year.
Question for Beehivestate: Would there likely be snakes in the tall grass around the house?
No, at least I hope not! I've been walking through there with reckless abandon. I'm told you find snakes where you find prairie dogs, though. On the plus side, if I SHOULD have a run-in with a snake, there is always the HGTV security guard to call the EMT's in Heber City and one of the ambulance drivers is a quilt maker in my guild so I know someone would come!
For your sake, beehivestate, I just hope that's not when the security guard decides to take a siesta!
Your point is well taken!
I don't like snakes.
Which also makes me wonder, do you happen to know if there is a good mobile phone signal at RMR? I sure wouldn't like being out there without that lifeline. The last thing you'd want is to be on a cell phone asking "can you hear me now?"
You know, that is a really good question. Next time I'm down there I'll check the signal strength. We have Verizon and I know that is the best signal of the available picks out here. By the way, where I live we have NO radio reception! Seriously, we have XM Radio because we can only get the "cowboy" station in Heber City… nothing from Park City or Salt Lake City. Many places in Utah have very limited radio/cell reception. One of the disadvantages of being so rural.
Oh, that's BAD! I live by music and my radio. Have to find something else.
Yeah, you'd have to get satellite radio. We have it here in Wyoming, because if I didn't I could get one station with two kinds of music: Country AND Western. LOL
That's our situation here in Midway/Heber. Country is where it's at, only one station, unless you have XM satellite radio, which is how I get my baseball. It costs about $145/year, more if you want one for the car as well.
I am thankful that beehivestate is there for us!!! All the information and life-risking she takes for us……PRICELESS!!!
I hope they get a move-on with that siding. I'm looking forward to seeing the Dream Home fully dressed.
Tired of the pink "lingerie" on our house, Coop?
I am totally impressed by Mary's ability to keep up with all the blogs!!! UO, Dream Home, Green Home, Blog Cabin, how do you do it? You MUST have a staff of interns juggling all the plates at once. You must live out of a suitcase and in an airport. Truly impressive coordination and stamina.
I need my memory refreshed…..what did the rules say about having a business in your house at RMR? Can you or can't you? An answer from anyone who knows for sure would be sufficient. Thank you in advance.
Online legal documents for RMR have this to say about a home business: it could be allowed if all the following are met — owner secures all required permits from governmental agencies, approval is given by the Architectural Design Review Committee (ADRC), it will be considered a traditional home-based business, and that the primary use of the home is as a residence.
Basically, the decision appears to rest with the development's ADRC.
ok. So If I was to live in our house, I would be sure to contact them and describe what I want to do then they can say yes or no. ? Right? I know that there will have to be a room or two for supplies and a place for the washer and dryer and when demand gets so high, then I will have to move the business somewhere else. So I should probably have it in a separate building from the beginning anyway so I won't have to move all the equipment, etc.
There are certain specifications for installation for the equipment I will need for the service. Cutting a hole in an outside wall for the 11'' diameter vent for the dryer, stuff like that.
Best would probably be a separate location, I doubt they would consider it a "traditional" home based business, just guessing.
I don't know where your post went, but YES, of course you can be my driver! You know that place like the back of your hand!!!
Yes, Brenda–no washing diapers out back in the river, LOL !
That's hilarious! Can you just see her beating those diapers against a rock?
Great image, Wyo_Girl! Remind me to fish upstream! ^_^
lol!!!
Only thing is if you meet state req's than it's a wash. The deal breaker would be if you actually need advertisement outside, signage (need a shingle), and or a separate business entry & so on. If your home is not changed outside and no one would know you conduct business thru your home…then yes, I see it as a go and winning situation. Not every home business requires clients or most clients to come to your home. It's the same thing here where I live presently. Even the county and city mgt gets heavily involved with what we do with home based businesses. Revenues have changed quite a bit with home business having been on the rise with internet availability.
Can I be your van driver?
Yes, of course. I didn't see this post earlier. :S
Front view or side view Mary?
I'm extremely happy there will be a game room! ^_^ The construction is coming along greatly, I can't wait to see the finished result!
Maybe, beside the pink wrap they are shopping for a brick foundation at least 3 feet up. That would make it so ideal with giving the home a grand presence, footing and sturdiness in the elements with snow, rain hail and water.
Just would be icing, for good lasting durability, so posts, are not seated in the elements for too long in the year with being a weathering place it will need to be.
Just a real nice hope over elevation as planned, but any will be extra sweet for the winner I'm sure.
Not seeing a brick edge…darn it.
but just a real nice tolerence for making a good sturdy home.
Hi PFG, the posts are always seated up off the ground and in concrete. The foundation is substantial, I saw it from the get-go, and if you look back at the construction pictures, you can get the details. We do have plenty of snow from Thanksgiving to sometimes April.
Just checking in to see how my Crib is coming along. Seems to be just fine. Can't wait to move in
LOL
You're Crib is going to have Crib Framing! How awesome is that?
I was flipping through channels today and found "The Victory Garden" hosted by HGTV's own Jamie Durie! He was making a potted flowering plant into a large, pretty thing made with rebar (?) coming from the inside bottom of the planter up about ten or twelve feet high and made it flare out. Not sure how high exactly, but he had to have a ladder to finish the top of it.
Then when the plant blooms, the top of it will be fullof blooms!! It will be so pretty!! I think he should make a couple of those for the Dream Home and put them close to on of the entry ways on each side of the door! THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!!
I saw that one–he planted bougainvillea vines in the center. They can come up with a plant that will do well in the Midway climate–they get heavy snowfall, it seems.
That's the one! I am not a plant expert, but I know what pretty looks like!
I checked the average weather and snowfall is like more than 20 inches in the winter months. That's ok with me! I love snow!! Especially when is falls straight down, it's so pretty. If it happens to blizzard and I am unable to go anywhere for days at a time, I want to have food and water, and heat!
I love snow.
Get in the sauna with hokiemom, it's nice and cozy and she has the beverages!
Bougainvillea vines won't grow here but you could do honeysuckle instead. Hummingbirds like it, I'm told.
You're right, beehivestate, I think winter honeysuckle (lonicera fragrantissima) would be ideal for the Dream Home. Winter honeysuckle is a bush, not a vine, but it has those familiar honeysuckle flowers and that sweet honeysuckle scent. Winter honeysuckle gets 6-8 ft tall and as much as 8-10 ft across. Flowering begins in late winter and lasts for several weeks, filling the air with fragrance when nothing else is blooming. The flowers are extremely abundant, creamy white, about a half inch long. The plant also produces a red berry for other seasonal color that provides a feast for happy birds.
I can just imagine that fragrant, slightly lemony scent filling the air from late winter on. Beam me over to the Dream Home, Mary.
You can count me in too, Mary!
Did you get out of the sauna yet? I take it you have sufficient beverages so as not to become dehydrated?
My husband and our son went fishing just north of the RMR property today at the public access point. It was my husband's first time fly fishing on the Provo (we've only lived here 4 years!) and our son was fishing with spinners. Our son got a fish, Dad had no such luck! My husband said the "good" fishing was on the little curve side of the island by our Dream House and he's going there next time. It's raining right now, big fat drops, and it's hot as if more of a storm is coming. Just as they left the river, my son told another fisherman "it's my Dad's first time fly fishing!" and the guy gave him a tiny little fly to try next time. This is going to be fun! Now I'm looking for a pink flamingo to plant down there by the river!!
That will be the the third places I go when I get to Midway….to the river!
My dad took me out fishing ONCE. I caught 15 and he only caught one. Needless to say, he never took me again. o.0
That pink flamingo will be the perfect touch to remember "our" house's pink insulation after all the siding is in place! And I'm thinking pink balloons for bloggers' yards when it comes time to await the DH 2012 giveaway ambush — and a pink flamingo if you can find one. Oh boy, we will definitely be ready for Monica (or whoever they send) should they choose a blogger this time!
Okay okay! I'm going to look for a pink flamingo at Swiss Days (over Labor Day) and put it out on the island if the water is low enough by then. Maybe I can borrow my husband's wadders and get out there. It will have to be done with some degree of "stealth," don't you agree? A pink flamingo attack should be a complete surprise! Maybe I will tie pink balloons to it, too. and we can have our blogger names written on the balloons lol
Does anyone know what materials they will use for the driveway? Concrete? Asphalt? PLEASE no asphalt. In the summer, it gets so hot and sticks to your feet, then you take it inside your house. It's hard to get out of carpet and off of floors. NO PLEASE, NO Asphalt on the driveway.
Will it be a circular driveway? Or just curvy like in the drawing? Can it have a fountain somewhere in the yard? Or a flag? That would be nice!! Just thought I would make some recommendations before everything is done.
A flag would be great but I doubt a fountain, after all you've got the river for your water feature. I'll let you know when the driveway is poured but I'd be willing to bet it will be concrete. I wouldn't be too surprised if they do that pretty soon while the weather is so good.
I was out walking the baby today and someone has a big vegetable garden, mostly a corn field, right in the middle of my neighborhood. Corn, squash, pumpkins, etc. at least an acre of garden on their lot next door. So, I guess we could do that on "our" extra lot, right?
Thank you beehivestate! I appreciate all the important information you have provided us with for all these days!
Brenda, I was just thinking maybe they will use those pavers with spaces between for the grass to grow between. That is really attractive. Some high-end homes here have heat tapes imbedded in the concrete to keep the driveway free of snow in winter. It is raining cats and dogs today and the sun just now came back out.
Oooooo!!! That grass between the cement would be really pretty!!! I can just picture that! Coming "home" and seeing my driveway all prettied up! Heat tapes in the concrete is an excellent idea!! It would help with scooping the drive and entry way and will help prevent very loving visitors, such as yourself, from slipping and falling on your caboose.
What breed are the cats and dogs that are falling from the sky, beehivestate? :p lol . Just kidding!!
I bet the rainbows there are very beaUTiful!!!
I forgot to tell you that when the guys went fishing today, the dog went in a little bit too deep and she "floated" down the river a ways before she could get herself out!
Is she o.k. Soney and I are worried?
Yeah, she's a blue heeler and she's tough! Probably she thought it was fun.
Looking at weather reports, Park City is forecast to have thunderstorms through the week. That'll sure keep things exciting at the Dream Home. Hope the work crews can finish getting it properly dressed for the inclement weather in spite of the likely rains.
No problem, we've had thunderstorms throughout the last MONTH! It is a normal summertime thing. As long as it doesn't hail and they're not up-top on the roof, that is.
I like rain and thunderstorms!!
Brenda, you like everything! You are so easy to please. I just looked outside and the sky is very dark gray. I'm waiting for the rain. Coop was right on! Being Sunday, at least there won't be any workers on the Dream House site. Wow, the wind is coming up something fierce, all of a sudden.
Yesterday while I was out walking I must've gotten bit by a spider because I have a big red round place on my arm and I'm icing it, it's really itchy and annoying the heck out of me. If only I had some cupcakes!
Would that fix everything if you had a cupcake?
You are so sweet!!!
I am sorry you were bitten. I hope the swelling goes down and you get better soon. (hugs)
yeah, thanks, speaking of "icing" lol
Next week, there won't be as much rain and maybe then the driveway can be poured. That way it won't be so muddy!
I've actually seen them pour driveways in winter around here, not the best idea, though. When it rains, the ground absorbs the water immediately and the only time we really have what we call "mud season" is spring and late fall, before and after ski season. It rained last night and is cooler today.
How's your arm, beehivestate? I have been thinking about you and your spider bite.
Are there many other insects like boxelder bugs, ants, etc.? June bugs? Yuck, I don't like them. They give me the heebie geevies!!
Not bad, really, although a guy from a pest control company came by and tried to sign us up for their service at "only" $400/year. I told him if I see a wasp, I'll spray it down and if I see a mouse, I'll set a trap… not that I've ever seen any mice around here. Yes, we have boxelder beetles sometimes on the warm days, a few ants, some big huge what I call "vampire moths" on the screens in the mornings… nothing really creepy.
Yeah, Brenda, my arm still has "fang marks" but isn't swollen much any more.
Sorry to hear about the spider bite. They can be nasty and really irritating. Nothing worse than that constant itching.
Speaking of critters, I happened on a baby snake that was hanging out around the door of my lodgings. Sure surprised me, and since I was carrying shopping bags, I just made a big step over it and quickly closed the door behind me. A gentle reminder that there's wildlife in these here parts!
Hi Wyoming Girl, yeah, bummer about Ubaldo, although it was expected, according to the MLB guys on my XM radio station. I know how you feel because if the Mariner's traded Ichiro (even though he's having a down year), I'd be in shock. We don't even get to watch the Mariners anymore and they are the worst team ever, but I still have my loyalties! We are starting to "bond" to the Rockies, though. They have some good hitters at least, I just wish they could get back up over 500. Ahh, baseball, it's a beaUTiful game, or so they say!
I wonder if Ubaldo will do so well, going to an American League team with the DH rule and all those "big boppers?"
I don't know what crib framing is, but it sounds great!
My feelings about your past sweeptstakes winners are prejudice. Now the location of your dream home location proves it. Your sweestaks does not cater to “African Americans”. Utah is a predominately white state. When will you be fair in your sweepstakes by letting other races of color win instead of always the same race of people?
I am really excited for this home, it is in a beautiful location and is absolutely amazing. I love the photo progression to see how it is coming along. I can hardly wait to see the finished product. Here's hoping to winning this one : ).
Me too, I want to win it even if it IS blue on the outside.
Finally in our new place,…I feel like I didn't miss a thing. I see they are making good progress, same bloggers keeping us informed and entertained, heehee:)
I was looking over Mary's activity that she posts and I noticed that the next activity for her should be around Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Seems it happens once in the middle of the week. Maybe more pictures of the progress of "our" house!
Thank you Mary for all you do on the blog!
Run, Coop, run! The Feds may be on to you:
http://news.yahoo.com/fbi-credible-lead-surfaces-…
Just be sure to keep posting comments here — we won't rat you out! xD;):o
I actually remember that story. it was said he jumped out over Vancouver WA and over the years, many so-called clues have surfaced. I lived in Denver then but we all followed the story over the years.
I know it's hard to believe, but this morning when I signed on to read my email, I had a spam email from, supposedly, the FBI. Now of course I didn't open it, and permanently deleted it, so hopefully it wasn't legitimate! Of course, since my current whereabouts are more or less unknown, except that I am in the vicinity of the Dream Home at the moment, maybe I'll have a welcoming committee waiting for me when I return home!
I just know it wasn't one of your blogging buddies here that that gave you away — you might want to ask Show Me if he's been blabbing! :S
The Urban Oasis Tour is here!!!! Thanks, Mary!!!
Yahoo! Isn't it fabulous over at the UO? Can we expect anything less from the 2012 HGTV Dream Home? I am ecstatic with anticipation!
Thanks for the tip on the new DH pictures. The stone siding looks very promising.
Vern came through on the UO. I'm going back for another tour!
This home definitely has all the features of what bloggers expect in a Dream Home. Go HGTV! Don't know how you continue to meet and exceed our demands year after year.
And I think this one is going to be extra special, from the paint color right down to the Pendleton blankets and the quilts… don't forget those quilts. This week is Fair Days in the Heber Valley and tomorrow I'll go over and see the quilts in person. I used to be a quilt judge, back in the day, and so I'm kinda' "picky."
There's nothing like a "picky" judge Beehivestate! You've seen some great quilts over the years. Our county's fair is next week and I'll spend a day volunteering. One of my best friends is a quilter so I always check out the quilts.
While I'm at the Fair, will also check out the jewelry since I've started selling Premier Designs Jewelry. But my most important stop will be at the food court. There's nothing like sampling the food at the Fair. Can't wait!!!!!
I have been hanging around our county fair this week because my sister has a van that sells coffee drinks and smoothies. As you can imagine in this LDS environment, coffee drinks aren't as popular as the smoothies! Our neighbors show their lambs, and one of them got Reserve Grand Champion, so she's very excited. I also walked through the quilt display and thought of you, BHS!
Did I ever tell my story about the Diet Pepsi and the woman who was Relief Society president the year I moved here? I didn't know "they" could have caffeine and when I saw her in the store she had her cart FULL of all the Diet Pepsi 2-litre bottles in the whole store! I was shocked and I "pretended" I didn't see her! Years later I told her that story and she said she didn't know of a single LDS woman who was not addicted to diet sodas.
Leaving this message everywhere for you Coop although you've probably already seen it.
"Reports: FBI has 'good' lead in 40-year-old 'D.B. Cooper' skyjacking mystery."
I'll read the article later.
Thanks for the warning, Lessie. I've been keeping a low profile the past several days, but thought I'd better check in to let all know I'm still out here and doing OK.
LA Times Front Page news this morning, sure that DBCooper died 10 years ago! How ya feelin
Coop? Sorry that you don't have the $200,000. Today that is so little money, couldn't even
buy a Dream Home of any type. Well, one bedroom one bathroom small home maybe.
Hah! What they don't know won't hurt them.
I'm feeling fine by the way.
Oh, and before I forget, Jack T told me that the Dream Home is coming along right on schedule and all's going just as planned. I'm sure he doesn't mind if I pass that on.
Is this a speculation about the house? Or did you ACTUALLY talk to Jack? Just curious.
I did have a brief chat with Jack T on site. He was quite impressed when I told him that I'd driven from S. CA just to pay a visit to the Dream Home in person, and hit a few Vegas shows on the way up and back. Wouldn't you know, though, I completely forget to ask him about the next Green Home location! I'm sure he would have just smiled.
I wish I could afford, and take the time off work, to drive to Midway to see our house!!
When they do the tours, I'll be there and give you every single detail!!
When do you think that will be?
Whenever it is, that would be great if you could keep us informed! Thank you in advance! How's your arm and lip today?
Normal or as good as it gets!
Thanks Beehivestate, I'm counting on you because that's too far for me to make a trip.
Coop, you FORGOT to ask about the next Green Home location?!!!! Vegas couldn't have been that good. Stay focused Coop! First things first. HGTV and DIYNETWORK questions, then general conversation.
BTW: Did you take any pictures while there? Sure would like to see them.
Just the update I've been waiting for Coop. But I gotta tell you, the 2012 Dream Home is waaaayyy too much for me. I'll pass on it. The Blog Cabin and Urban Oasis suit me better. If I don't win those, guess I'll enter to win the Dream Home, knowing I'll sell it if I win.
Ironic when we have names that are identical to, but maybe slightly different when full legal name is used. Your name identifies yourself, but when infamous people do what they do having a name simliar or same as yours, eek! Of course, it's not for congenial actions or things either. yikes!
I remember this action when it originally happened in 1971. I recall that summer we were in Tacoma WA on vacation visiting my grandmother from overseas. It was a very curious thing when it happened & kept happening as my father managed the far east stations & his brother was a pilot for the same top airlines then.
There is someone in a town 60 miles from me that looks exactly like me! I've never seen her, but there has been people come up to me and say that they have seen "me" with my dog at the park, etc. and I don't even have a dog. I hope she doesn't do anything wrong and they come arrest me instead.
As long as you have an alibi BrendainKs, you won't have a problem. If that doesn't work, follow the politician's example. Confidently look at the lawyer questioning you and boldly say, "I don't recall."
You're right PFG. It is ironic when our names are similar to infamous people.
Question: What do you mean by "when it happened and kept happening?" Did D. B. Cooper board your father's brother's plane?
I meant with my "when it happened and kept happening" was that there were many plane hi-jackings in this era then so that's what kept happening.
We had to started security procedures then & we are where we are today. voila & that was what I meant. Smile Lessie.
Thanks PFG. I understand now.
Our name isn't similar to anybody else's but my DH has several times over the years been asked if he is Robert deNiro! I was with him once, we were in Fife WA in a furniture store and the young associate kept looking at him and finally asked. He said "no and that's okay, you're not the first person who ever asked me for my autograph." Since we live near Park City now, I have always wanted him to go to Sundance Film Festival and see if he gets any "sightings!" This has happened to him all over the country on his various travels.
No problem Coop. You know we've got your back! Glad all is well and that you're doing ok.
In case you missed it, the FBI recently reported that DNA found on the tie of hijacker D.B. Cooper does not match a new suspect in the case. Really?? Who could've guessed it? ^_^
Coop, are you trying to hint that you're the new suspect? We could have told them long ago that you're not their man! Hope you enjoyed the FBI spotlight while it lasted. Don't be surprised if you're the subject of another investigation later on. If you're not, we can pretend you are. Can you imagine the lies, sorry about that, I meant the stories you can tell?
If you went to look at the UO pictures, you will find a section labeled for Dream Home 2012 Part 2 and there area a number of good pictures we might not have seen yet over here. Heads up!
Oh, so pretty!! I love how the workers keep the site clean and uncluttered!!!
It says that they take pride in what they do and they care about their customers.
I, myself, appreciate this.
If I was on HGTV, I'd keep it cleaned up, too! I wish we could see the interior a little bit.
That would be great!!
I couldn't find them at the UO, but I googled and found this. Is this what you meant? http://www.hgtv.com/about-us/hgtv-dream-home-2012…
Yeah, that's it. Pix 1-14. Bad game last night, didn't you think so? That Hunter Pence is amazing! I wish the Rockies had him!
Yeah, the night before last, with Huston Street down to the last strike and then throwing a pitch for a home run, was particularly bad. Last night wasn't much better. It's hard to be a Rockies fan right now — I now understand how Cubs fans feel!
Try being a Seattle Mariner's fan if you want to suffer! They went from winning 116 games and setting an all-time record in 2001 to being one of the worst teams in baseball within 10 years. We thought we were leaving all that behind when we moved lol
Being clad in different siding will be really cool. It will give it a more modern feel without taking it over the top. Have I mentioned I LOVE modern!! This is going to be soooo cool.
I think the look they are going for is "vintage" farmhouse, not "modern" farmhouse, hence the different materials on the exterior. We learned this early on the blog from Mary, way back in the spring. Nonetheless, I'm sure it will be really beaUTiful, as are all of the HGTV projects, and very unique. I'm with you, I can't wait! And I live here!
Vintage, then I would prefer the tudor style by far. For me, it sets it apart with the country look that's been around for centuries along with having dynamic curb appeal.
Is there any "Daily Buzz" today, beehivestate? Or is it still raining? I suppose I can look at the current forecast for myself to know.
At this current time, there is no rain in the forecast for today in Midway, but there is rain forecasted tonight and tomorrow. lol Just so you know.
Thanks, Brenda. It's sunny and 70 and a perfect day for the DAILY BUZZ. I'm taking care of Lars so his daddy and grandpa can go fishing on the Provo. I'm thinkin' maybe we need to go watch them but Lars is walking everywhere now and wants to push his Chariot so maybe we'll stay away from the river. By the way, that was nice of you to ask about my spider bite, it's still swollen but not as bad. It's just the itching that is so fierce! This morning at the gym I bumped my lip lifting a 35# weight plate, it's always something!!
We will have to wrap you in bubble wrap!! lol
Now there's a thought. Reminds me of last winter at the Canyons when they had a ski race called Pond Skimming where the participants dressed in whatever outlandish costume they could dream of. They had to ski or snowboard down a big hill and land in a lake and swim to the edge. One guy we saw get in the gondola to ride up was completely bubble-wrapped and when he hit the pond, he just floated on his back. It was pretty funny.
Is this what you are talking about beehivestate? Looks like fun. http://www.examiner.com/natural-family-living-in-…
That's it! Thanks Alice. Did you see the guy at 1:40 in the bubble wrap?! Too funny!
Sure did really funny. Thanks for telling us about this Beehivestate. There are so many fun things to do in Utah.
You just need to stay home and in bed! That's what I would do!!
Good advice. I must need more rest, I'm loosing my coordination.
Looking GOOD !! Of course the real fun begins with 'tours'!!!!
No new news huh? I want to be reading about all the details and how the house is constructed – I hope it's going to have radiant heating. This Dream Home is going to be fabulous, I just know it!
You know the UO has radiant heat in the bathroom floor, right? And so did the Stowe house. I doubt they will slight us at the Dream ranch. When I was a little girl, my father built our house on Greenwood Avenue, way back when, and he put in radiant heat in our floors. We didn't know how avante gard we were then.
