The Sun Shines on HGTV Dream Home

We’re nearing the completion of HGTV Dream Home 2012. Our interior designer Linda Woodrum is presently at the home, putting her finishing touches on interior and exterior spaces. Today, I’d like to share a series of photos sent from house planner Jack Thomasson. In dramatic fashion, skies cleared just as delivery trucks arrived with furnishings. At the end of “load-in day”, clouds rolled back in, casting a gorgeous glow on our modern rustic-style ranch home.

Wondering when we’ll reveal pics and videos of the finished interior? Mark your calendars for December 1 when our online virtual tour launches. Then on December 29, at 9 a.m. ET, our giveaway entry period begins. Remember: You can enter twice daily for your chance to win HGTV Dream Home 2012!

• I didn't know of his passing. That song was special, I wonder if you were thinking that the Dream Home will be someone's "impossible dream?" Thank you so much for all the youtube vid's, Alice and Soney, I enjoy them each and every one.

BrendainKs on October 10, 2011 at 11:07 am
• Nikki belongs to our son. She's a 4 year old blue heeler. They are a herding breed, originally from Australia/NZ area. Very high energy.

6. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and all is well at the 2012 Dream Home! But there is nothing wrong with a rainy day every now and again. Two of the photos look quite dark and cloudy. Not to worry…..this Dream Home is perfect no matter what the weather brings. I love it!!!!!!

AZSonny on October 10, 2011 at 11:31 am
• AZSonny, what kind of dog do you have? I can't tell if it's a small or big breed. Love the color.

SweetLiz on October 12, 2011 at 3:50 pm
• SweetLiz, he's a Royal Poodle, the largest of the poodle breeds, I think. We love the deep red color too. We have two large poodles(Standard and the new Royal (about 5 months old) and the rest are rescues.

AZSonny on October 12, 2011 at 5:52 pm
• Is it true that poodles don't shed? My husband and I like large breed dogs. We've been thinking about a rescue Dane or a Lab. We've had one Dane and three Labs in the past. Not sure how he would feel about a poodle. I think he would imagine a little yippie dog, but the not shedding appeals to me if it's true.

SweetLiz on October 13, 2011 at 8:45 am
• It is true and there is a lab/poodle mix. The lab would not shed if the father was the poodle. The poodles are pretty much like any other large dog I think. They’re mischievous, need a yard for running, good with other animals and kids, etc. The Royal will be pretty big but not sure he’ll be as big a a Dane. I love those two breeds too.

AZSonny on October 13, 2011 at 8:35 pm
8. Coop mentioned the landscaping.I've been wondering about this part of the dream home from the beginning since it is always a spectacular part of the home. I'm thinking something soft near the house both to deliniate it from the surrounding yard of high grasses but also a contrast to the rugged river and mountains.
What will create that look, I have no idea….that 's what designers are for, thatk God, but I see color and softness for contrast in things close to the house.
Hope we get to see Woodrum's interior soon, well…soonest! Best luck to everyone.

10. I've never been to Utah. What a wonderful way to see a new state!!!! Oh LORD, as you listen to all on this earth, it would be a dream to take over a dream home like this. My first guest would be "BEEHIVESTATE" since she could show me around and show me the ropes. I'd cherish the home and the new friendship!

I was wondering how they would work on the front of the house since it appears a bit tired. With a snap & a click from the talent here and BANG….. It will be a beautiful sight indeed. ^_^

• Hi StellaF, that is a go. If you win, we will do the grand tour of the Wasatch and Heber Valley and Park City in your new SUV and you will invite me over for coffee and I will bring a pie or something! Isn't the house gorgeous?! When you drive by on River Road and look over there, I always tell my DH to slow down so I can see it. HGTV has done an outstanding home for this year's contest. I'm pinching myself how lucky I am to live here and see it every day.

• That's a great idea! Maybe we can convince them to offer a few "weekend stays" prior to giving it away. Since only "one person" can actually see this grand home/property….. Why not spread the beauty & dream home by giving away a tiny piece here and there before it totally belongs to one person??? How difficult could that be?? So maybe they have to hire a service to come in afterwards to double check everything after the winners clean up. We sign away our life if anything is missing or damaged, yada, yada. OK HGTV……. What do you think??? Won't ya' consider sharing this dream with some of we little folks??? Pretty please?<3

11. Mary has given us a hint as to Linda W.'s color palette for the GH! Being Mary, she hasn't revealed much, but among the options she shows there isn't a green shade to be found! All of the colors are attractive and meant to complement each other, though, so even if Linda uses all 20 the house will still look great! xD

12. What a day I had! Started out by breaking a glass jar of peanut butter at the grocery store this morning; then the baby wouldn't nap and was super cranky; I thought my son had to have a biopsy and it turned out to be his employee (so I needlessly worried for 2 hours); my DH stepped in dog poop on the kids' lawn and HE was cranky, the furnace wouldn't switch on this morning and we need a service call… ended up good, though, b/c in the mail I got an unexpected large check for overage escrow. Whew!

• After the windfall check came, my DH said "let's go out to dinner!" We thought of Sundance, which is our favorite place, but then we remembered that a waiter up there once told us that Robert Redford goes to the bowling alley in Heber City for his favorite cheeseburgers! We ended up staying home so we wouldn't bother Robert Redford!!

The next morning I started out first thing by knocking over a full glass of water on my nightstand in the dark. And now I have a cold. 13. This film was in the documentary competition at Sundance 2011. Really enjoyed watching this clip and want to see the movie. Reminds us of C&E and her beautiful horses. Have to tell you a quick little story. Today was my Creative Workshop at the VA. It is for disabled veterans. There are only two women in the group plus two women counselors one that is an Iraq Veteran. The other woman was in the Navy and what a character. We made Native American Indian drums. Today we decorated them. She is quite an artist and painted a picture of her first pony on the drum. How beautiful that was. Anyway wanted to share the story and this great film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCMm5uoZtXw&fe… p.s. forgot to tell you the teacher of the class is a Native American Indian named Bear.

Thank you for sharing your workshop experience. <3 to the veterans in your class.

My suggestion would be for HGTV to arrange a bloggers sleep-over, or at the very least, a bloggers party. Just think of all the great reveiws we could post online. That's bound to generate even more interest and a record-setting number of entries for this year's home.

Dream Home 2012 — More Than Midway to Paradise!

DBCoop on October 15, 2011 at 12:38 pm
• Good plan. We can bring sleeping bags and camp out in the great room, make pancakes in the morning, outside on the grill, and everyone can choose their favorite furniture to write about. I wonder if she'll have anything like those chairs in the Green Home? I'm most curious about the configuration of the bunk room and whether it's two rooms or one. The chef from Chez Betty might want to come by and cook breakfast for us.

beehivestate on October 15, 2011 at 12:47 pm
• If the chef from Chez Betty is cooking breakfast for us, save me a place, although I'm afraid it'll have to be later in November. I'm booked for Thailand over the next month, and will therefore be forced to eat a delightful variety of freshly prepared, absolutely delicious and amazingly inexpensive Thai dishes. Somebody's got to do it, and apparently I've been nominated for yet another year of indulgence. So, out of the goodness of my heart, and with everyone's best interests in mind, I'll make the sacrifice. On the bright side, I've never gained weight during my visits there, so the demands of giving myself over to a month in paradise are never too onerous.

DBCoop on October 15, 2011 at 1:25 pm
• That sounds wonderful. Lucky you! I must confess I don't know very much about traditional Thai food. Isn't it a lot of vegetables and noodles? It's always sounded very healthy. Sorry for my ignorance. Guess I should get out more.

20. My DH went over to the new Walmart today, just to see. It's on the far south end of town as you turn to go to Provo. The lady at the counter told him they've been open since August and for the grand opening they had one of the Osmond's in the parking lot and they were throwing twinkies all over the place. Makes me laugh just to visualize that! Flying Twinkies… only in Heber City, UT. I'm kinda sorry we missed it lol Between that and Alice and Soney with their Honey Bees, I'm about ready for treatment.

• Yikes, not Twinkies — makes me think of the movie "Zombieland"! Don't watch it if you don't care for horror movies, but Woody Harrelson is hilarious in this movie and his character has a thing for Twinkies, to put it mildly! And I don't even like zombie movies. Although they do remind me that when "Night of the Living Dead" was being filmed in Pittsburgh oh so many years ago, the movie people came to the office building where my dad worked to ask if anyone wanted to play the part of a zombie in the movie. Thankfully, my dad declined. I don't think I would have cared to see him immortalized as a zombie for his one and only movie role! And then they filmed the sequel in my home town — seemed like I just couldn't get from those pesky zombies! :o o.0xD

22. Chez Betty in the Copper Bottom Inn off Park Avenue in Park City, Utah, reports that HGTV filmed
their award winning restaurant for the HGTV Dream Home promotion. The restaurant's "warm
and unique ambiance" combined with Chef Jerry Garcia's diverse menu which ranges from
Sauteed French Burgundy Escargot to Country Ham earned the restaurant the title of not only
"Best in Park City" but "Best in the State" as well.

• I've never been there and I've never even SEEN that restaurant. Sauteed French Burgundy Escargot? Give me a nice bison burger and fries any day. Try the Wasatch Brew Pub at the top of Main Street across from the Treasure Mountain Inn. Or the Foundry Grill at Sundance Resort.

DeerSpring, have you ever eaten at the Copper Bottom Inn? I just looked it up, apparently it's been there 20 years so it must be pretty good. http://www.chezbetty.com/ It's right behind Jan's.

23. Beehive, the escargot is served with a puff pastry with garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, & country ham.
So maybe you can work on the sides! There's also a grilled beef tenderloin served with a crispy potato pancake (w/spinach, smoked onion demi-glace and Haystack onions). I think I would be willing to
give it a try if I find myself in Park City in the future!

DeerSpring on October 15, 2011 at 12:57 pm
• I've never been all that much of a gourmet, DeerSpring. I'll stick to my basics and leave the puff pastry au escargot to the more adventurous. If you try it, LMK what you think. On the other hand, I don't eat Twinkies either. I have a bad cold this weekend and my DH is making me homemade chicken soup… now that's devotion!

There's another high-end restaurant at Park City that we really do like, it's called "The Cabin" and it's at the Canyon's Resort. They do a wonderful breakfast buffet and their dinner menu is more traditional and very delicious.

beehivestate on October 15, 2011 at 3:27 pm
• "The Cabin" sounds good to me. I am in no way limited to gourmet cooking.
My only requirement is that it tastes good! I'm glad your DH is taking care of our
"daily reporter". Take care. Hope you feel better!

• Do they still deliver fresh milk? It would be neat if they did. I think I was born in the wrong era. I like the 40's and 50's. Big Band music! My grandparents were part of a band. My grandma played the piano and my grandpa played the cornet, trumpet, clarinet, and saxaphone. I think it was just a few of his friends, but every time we went to visit, when I was younger, they always played something for us! I miss them both.

My grandma at Christmas always made sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles! Maybe that's why I love to bake.

BrendainKs on October 17, 2011 at 7:56 pm
• You know, I think there are some dairys that still deliver to home. I'd sign on for a quart of chocolate milk a week.

24. Dropping by to say I think the 2012 Dream Home will be fantastic, (I've been lurking on DIY blog), & to see who all received their new HGTV magazine in the mail yet ?? I got mine & loved the cover page, in fact, I've already read every page in it !!

gremol on October 15, 2011 at 9:57 pm
• Hi gremol, I've been waiting and waiting for my mailman to bring the new HGTV mag. Nothing yet. I know it's coming because they already charged my credit card but where oh where is my mag? I feel so left out. I can't even find it on the news stand in the grocery store.

• I haven't signed up yet. Better do that today!

I did see the new Design Star winner's show this week. It was beautiful – she really listens to her clients needs/wants. I fell in love with these three dimensional flowers froma couple of episodes ago. Trying to find them.

Nebraska on October 16, 2011 at 11:25 am
• If didn't see the flowers either, if you find pics or a web site, please post it, I'd love to see them. I do not have a green thumb, I don't do house plants very well, they die on me !! So I settle for silk & life-like artificial plants & flowers for my home. I've found some that are so real looking, you can't tell they are fake; only problem is they catch dust !!

gremol on October 16, 2011 at 4:29 pm
• Get at that dust with some canned air. It works like a charm on the silk flowers.

• But they are for walls – at least thats what was shown. These are obviously oversized and brightly colored. The episode of HGTV Great Rooms is going to be rebroadcast 11/12 at 9 PM and 12 AM – Divalicious Kitchen is the name and the episode code is H2DSW- 103H. They just say local artist and I didn't catch the name from the episode.

25. The only thing that I found 'wrong' with the mag is some of the prices on the decor products; I sew & do crafts, so I know I can make almost identical items for a fraction of the cost !! One of my favorite things is to visit my local Good Will store & find lightly used drapes, bedspreads, & curtains & make my own throw pillows, chair pads, & such. I even recovered a small armchair with some beautiful brocade drapes I found. I'm hoping that once I get my back surgery done, I'll be able to get back to my "creative side". !!

gremol on October 16, 2011 at 2:11 pm
• I know what you mean but not everyone can sew and make things like you and I. When I lived in a bigger city, I used to frequent the Goodwill store fairly often for denim jeans, which I cut up and used in quilt making. I do admire your skill to recover a chair and wish I could do that. Good luck with that back surgery. I know how awful I would feel if I couldn't do my quilting or chase after my baby grandson.

Maybe I will get my magazine this week and we can compare notes again.

beehivestate on October 16, 2011 at 3:52 pm
• My Grandgirls call the GoodWill store the "Redneck Mall"; (they are in to their Southern heritage !!) They love to go & find Aero jeans. We live near an Air Force base, so lots of folks shipping out donate stuff that they can't take with them. I started learning to sew when I was seven years old, on my Grandmas' old treadle Singer. I soon became quite good at making my own patterns just by looking at magazines & catalogs. My Barbie had a very fab wardrobe !! When I got to high school, I could sew as well as the teacher, so I became her assistant. Not to pat my own back, but I've always been at home with creating anything out of fabric. I guess it's in my genes, 'cause my Grandma made suits (from linen flour sacks) for all the doctors & lawyers in our town.

gremol on October 16, 2011 at 4:22 pm
• What a good story! I also made doll clothes. And I really learned to sew in HomeEc because my dad would always give me money for patterns and fabric but not for store-bought clothes. I guess it turned out to be a plus because I love sewing. I feel sorry for the younger generation that doesn't get to learn to sew like we did. I don't even know if they have pattern books or where you'd go to find pattern books.

beehivestate on October 16, 2011 at 4:46 pm
• One of our Wal-Marts still has a fabric department, I love the $1.00 a yard table !! They carry patterns too. Other than that, you have to go to one of the few speciality fabric stores in my town. I hate that the schools no longer offer home-ec classes, young people need to learn life skills. Out of my 3 Girls, only my 11 year old has shown an interest in sewing & I'm going to teach her all I can ! Kids need creativity instead of all the 'electronics' offered today !

gremol on October 16, 2011 at 4:57 pm
• We have a new Walmart here but I don't think they have fabric. We also have a nice quilt shop in Midway (Seasons of Home) with good quality cottons. We're lucky, otherwise we have to go to Provo or Salt Lake City for supplies.

The Strawberry Valley Route, Alpine Loop, Provo Canyon and Wolf Creek promise an explosion of

• Great videos, DeerSpring. There are some wonderful pictures of the Heber Valley. We've tried many of those restaurants: Tarahumara Mexican Cantina, The Bear Dance Cafe, Spin Cafe in Heber. All great. The Spicy Lady is no longer in business, it's something else now. This would be a good picture day, maybe I'll get out there with my camera. The Alpine Loop Road will soon be closed due to snow but there's still a window of opportunity. Have a good day, and you take care. xo

see the view from his home! "So much…so close" was a very inviting display of all of the
amenities in Heber Valley and the great views.

DeerSpring on October 17, 2011 at 3:44 pm
• Yeah, he owned the Spicy Lady restaurant, sadly didn't survive the recession. His home was apparently in the Red Ledges, which is on the east side of Heber, looking west to the mountains. I loved the pictures of him riding his bike and the story about always wanting to own a dog. I don't know if he still lives here but there's another restaurant where his was, it's called "The Angry Bull."

Wow, DeerSpring, you just "clicked" me over to 100!

30. SLICE OF LIFE IN A SMALL TOWN: Midway UT. The furnace man came back to fix our furnace and we were expecting a big bill. He made some adjustments, said he wouldn't need a new part after all, and only charged $85 even though he's been here twice. He tells my DH that he raises "bucking bulls" for rodeo and that one his bulls would be in the Cowboy Poetry Festival next month in Heber City. And he used to be a bull rider! From Midway all his life, yada yada. Neat story, that's what it's like up here, something connects people in all kinds of ways that you don't find in a big city. People want to share their stories, I like that.

Nebraska on October 17, 2011 at 12:56 pm
• Sure, why not? We have Utah Valley University right here in Heber. If you like hustle-bustle, and the cosmopolitan lifestyle, maybe it wouldn't be your cup of tea. I'm thinking of a friend who lives on Capital Hill in Seattle and loves city life, this wouldn't be the right place for her, but for us it's a good fit.

• Hello Girlfriend!
Haven't been on in a few days. My son's Homecoming weekend. Anywho, I grew up in Baltimore and when I left home I moved into the crazy part of the city where all the action was. I had an apartment on Park Ave and could step over a bag-lady walking to my car, get bumped by a drug addict and watch a Rolls Royce drive passed within a minure or two. I could walk to the Meyerhoff for the Symphony, see a show at Morris Mechanic theatre or ride my bike to the Inner Harbor. IT WAS ALL WONDERFUL!!! Back THEN. Now, I prefer the quiet more rural setting with lots of wild life. Like you I love photography so nature & animals are my usual and prefered subjects. I still like going to fine dining, great shows or concerts or a wonderful party BUT>>>> I'm always ready to come back home. I want to hear birds chirpping, dogs barking or similar. UTAH looks perfect for me and my husband. It is the best of both worlds. The only thing is the house is so huge!!! But, I guess that's what makes it a dream home right??

StellaF on October 17, 2011 at 7:47 pm
• Hey Stella, it's almost 4,000 sq. ft. but look at it this way. If you couldn't keep it for some reason, you could still fall in love with Midway and use the money to buy or build your own Dream Home your own way. I've never lived in a really large city like Baltimore and I had some bad experiences living in Tacoma WA, so I feel real comfortable here in “Pleasantville,” which is what my next-door neighbor calls our little community. You've got the best of both worlds, Park City is only 20 minutes away and Salt Lake City is under an hour. You will find everything you need without going to Salt Lake City, though. Park City is great and has all the culture and restaurants you could want. Good luck to you.

I guess it's an “old country” thing, or was. But just like chicken soup, these things do work. My DH used to say yeah, it worked because no one would play with them!Anyway, thanks for the good wishes, I'm already better… and tomorrow I'll be at Scrappy's Timp Freeze for an ice cream! What can they do to me?! I might even take Lars and let him look over the fence into the back yard. So there, Leroy!!Thanks, that was really fun, Alice and Soney! • Hey, when we were blogging about the VT DH last year, DBCoop joked about opening a "pancake palace" there, and I said I would turn the downstairs dorm into doggie overnight and grooming facilities(those showers would have been perfect for bathing dogs). If you want to know what Coop said he would do with the dogs while the owners were upstairs , you will have to go back and read those blogs. It had to do with sled rides…LOL. There were some great skiing tales in the blogs also…

When we have time we will go back and read those blogs. BTW haven't seen or heard from our fearless leader probably off galavanting around the country. Thanks LLColeman for reminding us about how much fun we had making up stories and acting silly.

39. Behivestate: I have a question concerning winter weather in your location. You said Park City is 20 minutes from Midway. You also stated that you have a new Walmart in Park City. My question is: During the winter months and you're deep in snow, how hard is it to get to Park City? I have a close friend who is a manager of Walmart here in Mason, Ohio (suburb of the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area). We get lots of snow in the winter time, but we have lots of highway crews who keep our roads salted so we can trave safely. Do you have good road service or because you're in the rural areas, do you have to wait until the big city get their roads cleaned first? I'm curious because I'm a senior citizen who has to walk on a walker, and when it snows I become a hermit. You said you loved nature and animals. I'm not too swift on nature, but I do love animals. Do you have good facilities for medical issues close by or do you have to go to SLC for good mendical care?

cincylady58 on October 18, 2011 at 9:34 am
• Hi cincylady58, Regarding the snow, yes we have great road crews in Utah because they get lots of experience! There are days we just stay home because it's more common sense than driving but mostly you can get where you need to go. We have a small hospital in Heber City which is good for emergencies but mostly you would go to Park City for doctors and they have a brand new hospital there. We have the best orthopedic surgeons in the country in Park City because of the athletes here. Many Olympians live and train in Park City, so we have the medical facilities. And, of course, Salt Lake City is accessible for more doctors and specialties. We have our doctors here in the area and in SLC both.

I personally wouldn't go to Park City on a day that was icy or a snow storm. I think the walker would make it harder for you in winter but if you have a good, big car with the right tires, you can get around. Most of us drive SUV's or trucks. This is no place for a little car. Of course the Dream Home comes with a big SUV that will be perfect for snowy days or summer adventures.

This area (Heber Valley) can be a little isolated if we have a big snow so we store food and supplies for just in case and we help each other. The new Walmart is less than 10 miles from the Dream Home and the Walmart in Park City is 20 miles the other direction. We have Costco and Target in Provo but that is 30 minutes down Provo Canyon and on a snowy winter's day I wouldn't go there.

Hope this answers your questions. Don't be a hermit! I'll come visit you even if I have to walk down on snowshoes!

40. P.S. Behive: I love reading your blogs and seeing the latest pictures of the DH. If I win the DH I would love to invite you over for coffee and dessert or maybe a full meal. You sound like a wonderful person. You stated in one of your old blogs you had some bad experiences in Tacoma, WA. I was born in Tacoma and lived all of my childhood and graduated from high school in Bremerton, WA. I moved to Ohio when my husband was discharged from the Navy where we lived ever since.

cincylady58 on October 18, 2011 at 9:35 am
• I did have many good times in Tacoma but over the years it was becoming more of a high crime area and I did not feel safe to go out walking even in my neighborhood sometimes. I lived in Lakewood, which was a suburb to the south, and near Ft. Lewis and McCord AFB. Tacoma has many beautiful areas, it's just too crowded for me now. Give me clean fresh air and no traffic congestion any day.

41. Has there been a hard freeze yet in Midway? The weather folks think we will get one this week. That is my clue that I may have to turn on the furnace.

Nebraska on October 18, 2011 at 12:17 pm
• Speaking of furnace, I turned it on this morning and it didn't light so we have to have the repair man/bull rider back out. We didn't have a hard freeze but it was cold last night and there was frost this morning. I'm bringing in my hanging basket from the porch at night. I think one more week good like this and that will be pretty much "it."

I got out of my car, walked up and down, and took pictures for you, then I drove home and kept stopping for picture-taking. I never made it to the Coffee Station but once I get Lars down for his nap, DH can watch him and I can go back out there. It's pretty amazing, the colors today are softened as if in a tapestry of blue, green, red, gold and it is crisp and cool. Really I wish I could bring you all out here somehow (don't move here, though, I like it rural!!)

44. Behive:
How big is Midway, population wise? Although I love the Greater Cincinnati area, it is becoming a dangerous area to live in some places. Our Downtown shopping district has been rebuilt and is very beautiful. So, I guess I have some of the same feelings for Cincinnati that you have for Tacoma, WA. I do miss the mountain scenery. My mother's dining room window looked straight out to Mt. Rainier in the distance. I could get used to the dry summer air in Utah and eliminate the humidity that Ohio has. Talk to you later.

• Wow, Bee ! I feel like I have already seen one of the Dream Home specials–we were only missing Jack T and his shiny dome, LOL. The location crew should have consulted with YOU about the most atmospheric places to take photos….did you do all this with Lars along ? IMO you should be included in the HGTV reveal show, but I guess it was already filmed by now.
You have your OWN show, anyway, and we love it. I see that Seasons of Home sells quilts…do you like to go browse there ? I loved that "SPAA" sign with the old, rustic 'diving lady figure', your 'Designed to Sell" caption, but the fave was the 'crib' house…I am tempted to buy and renovate it, LOL–it has great views !! By the time this Heber Valley home is given away, you will have enough great photos to do a small exhibit at the 'Galleria' there !! It is a really charming community; i can see why you love it.
You may not be paid monetarily for all the photos and reporting, but you have made a lot of friends on this blog–beyond any price. <3

LLColeman on October 19, 2011 at 2:08 am
• Hi LL, Seasons sells some quilts but they mostly are a wonderful gift shop and a place to get fabric and supplies for quilt making. It started out owned by 20 “stakeholders” but that didn't work too well and now they are just one owner and I think 3 minority stakeholders. It's a lovely shop, right at the end of Main Street and the Midway Country Corner cakes is right there across the street. BTW, the woman who owns the bakery was on “cake wars” on that Food Network show a couple years ago. And yes, Seasons of Home really IS my very most favorite get-away place in Midway. There's also a fun used book place called “Re-book” but I could not get a good picture of it yesterday d/t the light conditions.Since I've fallen in love with HGTV, now when I drive around I find captions going in my head for various houses up here. I love taking the pictures, it's like I've discovered a new treasure every time I get a good picture and I have learned so much. The “crib” house was a rare find. One day I was driving home from the gym and had to detour d/t road work. Voila! There is was. I keep my little camera in my purse all the time now, just in case. Yesterday when we were driving Lars to Walmart (he loves riding in the cart), I saw an incredible barn and I made my husband stop, back up, and let me jump out and get the shot!!Larson wasn't in the car when I did this batch of pictures because I don't think it's safe to stop and start, in and out, with him back there at this age, if I'm by myself. I really wanted to get more pictures of our Dream Home but I'm a little shy of Leroy Brown. The house is fabulous, just fabulous. I can't say enough how great HGTV has done.

• What an amazing tour of a beautiful town. No wonder you fell in love with it. It has everything you need on a daily basis (even a Walmart down the road), and you can hit Provo by driving down a beautiful canyon if you want to do more serious shopping. I loved your comments on the photos. I was thinking "Curb Appeal: The Block" about 3 frames before you said it — like minds! I don't know which image is my favorite. I love the stenciling on the outside of the homes, and the views are, of course, first rate. I am with you that the iron work on the balcony is amazing. I think I like best that the architecture has kept that old world charm and the town planners really have done their jobs with ensuring that new businesses, like the grocery store, fit into that idea. You really should get a bonus from the Chamber of Commerce for this awesome photo tour, Bee!

• Hi Wyoming, I had so much fun yesterday doing those pictures. I saw so much that I don't normally “see” when I was looking for pictures. I started a separate photo log for Heber Valley Barns. There is so much to like “out west,” as you know. I want to get pictures of The Homestead, Johnson's Mill B&B, and more of the old historic homes they are fixing up. I only had an hour yesterday and it wasn't enough, and the light was not quite right for some of my “must have” photos. I love having these just for me and playing them on my iMac IPhoto with the slide shows. My DH is really impressed lol.

• Before we moved into our house, we stayed two nights at The Homestead in one of their little cottages. It is such a charming place and the restaurant has a great deck so you can sit outside and watch the golf course and the swans in the duck pond. The grounds at this resort are really beautiful, some of the most gorgeous flowers in Midway are here. And, of course, there is a full-service Spa and I'm told they do the best facials in the whole area.

Sorry I don't have any job scenerio for you, wishingforit, but just move here anyway and see what shakes loose for you! Worse comes to worse, you can always work at Scrappy's or The Store.

• Alice and Soney, my DH wanted to be sure he got "full credit" for the pictures he took! We have both had so much fun today. I actually have exceeded my allowance of 200 photos free on flickr and I had to buy a year's membership for $24.95 so now I can post unlimited pictures. You will be sick of me and my camera before this is over lol !!

• I'm ready to take walks with you! BEEHIVESTATE I wish I knew your first name. It's a delight having you put so much into introducing & educating all of us on the area. You are very special and I want to formally say "THANK YOU".

• Bless you, SellaF. Thank YOU for appreciating! It makes it worthwhile when somebody enjoys the pictures as much as I did taking them.

• Thank you for the Park City photos, Beehive! I liked the colors and creativity buzzing around the
town. I think all the awe inspiring scenery of the area brings out a creative streak and in the
case of the S h o e Tree, an outburst of plain giddiness and fun! Thanks to DH for his share,
too.

• That Shoe Tree is pretty amazing. There are even ski boots up there. I had a hard time limiting my pictures, there were so many things to look at. Every time I go out to take pictures, I see new things.

• I saw the ski boots and laughed because they're heavy and not like tossing sneakers up
there. Beehive, I posted a link on the new blog that shows the DH cabinetry layout.
