New Info to Chew On
I am happy to leak a few late-breaking details about HGTV Dream Home 2012. Please visit HGTVRemodels.com to read the latest and greatest. House planner Jack Thomasson never ceases to amaze. Just when you think he’s outdone himself, he pulls out a few more punches.
December 1 is fast approaching as is our online virtual tour. Wait till you see the sunset shots we captured.

I can't wait to see our house in person!!
You know, I'm beginning to think it really will be your house, Brenda! You have enough energy into this blog to manifest pretty much whatever! Good luck!! Don't forget I'm giving you the Midway tour.
Wouldn't that be a miracle??? We could have a blogger barbeque on the Fourth of July!!!
That would be FUN!!!!!
Yes, I like that. We should have lamb, as Midway/Heber is famous for lamb. Of course I don't have the slightest how to cook it, maybe we should have fish, since we're literally on the river. Wyoming knows how to cook trout, we can have her teach us. If anyone is vegetarian, we can get stuff from the garden.
I have never had lamb. Reminds me of that song…"Mary had a little lamb, ……" oh, makes me sad just thinking about it. Maybe we should eat somthing else. Fish is great! We could have a fish fry! Coop can bring the corn on the cob! Wasn't it him who said he would do that? That would be really fun!!!
He said we could have a cornfield on the lot and since corn is only supposed to be "knee high by the 4th of July," I guess he'll have to buy the corn at The Store in Midway or at the Farmer's Market at the Canyons in Park City on Wednesday.
Whatever works!!
Dear Beehive, thank you for streaming all your photos in one link–FABULOUS! Are you a professional photo journalist? If not, you should be. Really did enjoy looking at the pictures and dreaming. Thanks again.
No I'm just a grandma, PBBradley but that was a nice compliment anyway. I hope the set wasn't too many pictures. I did cut down some that I thought were duplicates. You should see how pretty it is here today! How can I help it but take pictures. My little Nikon S8000 goes with me everywhere and I'm starting to be like that Ashton Kuchar commercial lol.
I vote you take pictures again!! Just a thought.
Brenda, I just found those two new videos we were looking for yesterday… master suite bathroom and practical yet stylish kitchen. I'm so excited!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
You are the BEST!!
Thank you, Mary, for updating! This house is absolutely GORGEOUS. Also, thanks you @beehivestate for those wonderful photos…maybe you should be our Super Fan this year!
)
DAILY BUZZ. SUNDAY. Look what i found at HGTV Front Door. These were posted on 10/28. http://www.frontdoor.com/buy/park-city-utah-neigh… Some of the pictures are the same as on my photo set "Park City Walk" awhile back.
and then: http://www.frontdoor.com/city-guide/park-city-ut-…
I have my bags already packed!!!
Wow! Here we go, the video of the master suite bathroom that we were searching for yesterday. It shows the his and her vanities and two closets, the tub, shower… beautiful! http://www.hgtvremodels.com/video/outdoors-inspir…
Nice. I feel like I always need to watch those links as soon as they come up, in case they vanish! I like the little tiles on the wall, don't you? It's nice to see the closet area, too. You know how HGTV Bloggers love those closets!! Thanks for the link!
I think those blue tiles look like "subway" tiles. And in a later picture we see the pulls on the cabinets, so this is an early video and Mary's been holding it back on us. Oops, I'm talking about the kitchen!
Thank you for posting these links!! We appreciate your loving kindness!!!!
It's just that today I have time to look. Actually, you could probably say "get a life."
Bee, the earth tones of the bathrooms and the abundance of windows have me
very much liking the master bathroom! The kitchen is looking fine as well.
The blue tile would remind me of the blue sky hopefully reflecting the outside
when a person is busy cooking! Now on to your Utah pictures. Mary has been
very busy! I appreciate all the videos. I may need to reschedule some of my
regular activities to make time for my HGTV blogging!
LOL!!
I love the tile, the bathtub, the shower, the twin sinks, the closets, the windows, and pretty much everything. "Everything" pretty much insures I didn't miss anything.
I'd settle for one room in that Dream Home, especially if it's not connected to my home. Maybe I just need a vacation o.0=/
I LOVE the shower, this will be a great home for someone…hope it's me
OOooo–Mama LIKES… master bath natural tiles, metallic glass tiles, counter tops, THAT TUB. and.glass shower is the size of our current bathroom !. Yes, I would be renting out that suite for sure–if I got to use it myself once in a while, that will do it for me..thanks for posting the link, bee.
Here's another one I found, Practical Yet Stylish Kitchen. Mary! Mary!! You've been holding back on us your devoted bloggers… http://www.hgtvremodels.com/video/practical-yet-s…
Oh…my….goodness!!! I LOVE the kitchen!!! I will be in there most of my day!! And fishing in the River for my dinner!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
By the way, I think there should be a homemade country-style kitchen table and benches that go around the windows! But easy to clean around also!!
Just a thought! Thank you for whoever listens!!
That clean lined kitchen is asking for red accents. My electric red can-opener and a brand new red kitchenaid mixer will do nicely. Throw a little black and stainless in the mix….. I'll have a black or stainless steel toaster and a nice blender. That's my Christmas list Santa. I'll add more later.
I can't wait to see Linda's finishing touches in the kitchen.
I can't wait to cook a meal for my family in there…amazing
I can't stop watching the video of the kitchen. I love that huge island. No not Hawaii this time. I'm talking about the massive island in the kitchen. At first I was sad that it didn't have room for bar stools, but then Jeff demonstrated all those useful drawers and doors. The garbage/recycling drawer, wow, and handy too– right by the sink. The fridge drawer–probably for my yogurt, and snacks for the kids. Love the pull-out shelves.
I love those shelves under the stove–I'm always looking for space to put a baking sheet of cookies, or to put the rolls as they raise. Can never have too much counter space.
Wow, a refrigerator dedicated to just the fridge. An entire freezer, and in the kitchen too. Who woulda thunk it? Who woulda thought to say–yes you can have two and one can be cold, and the other one can be frozen. Well I guess whoever designed the kitchen said yes you can have two–and so HGTV did.
Love it, however, I think having all the windows in the kitchen /dining space and adjacent great room, seems like the upper kitchen cabinets should be glass front…it seems oddly out of balance the way it is.
It is not an over- the- top, bells & whistles kitchen like last year's DH, but it would be more than enough for me !! The only other thing was–did I see Mr. Wilson opening up a fridge door, blocking a doorway ?? Big no no, IMO.
The more I watch these videos, the more I LOVE this home!!!
And now here's your scenic tour of beaUTiful UTAH! http://www.frontdoor.com/buy/salt-lake-city-surro…
Can we go to all of those places?
Some of those are in southern Utah but if you don't mind an overnight or two in the St. George area, yes, you can see all those places.
I am notorious for getting lost! So I will need a tour guide of everywhere I go!!
Just sayin'.
Beautiful!
DeerSpring, have you ever seen the hoodos in Bryce Canyon in snow? The first year we moved here in 2007 April we saw them and it was beyond description. I want to get back to Zion and Bryce real soon.
Only in photos, Bee! Utah attracts a number of talented photographers because of its
natural beauty. I hope there will be featured photography in the DH.
And some of the scenic attractions in Salt Lake City… http://www.frontdoor.com/buy/popular-landmarks-an…
Wow, I can't believe I'm finding so much rich information today. It's like I struck silver!
Striking GOLD is more like it!!!
Thanks again!
I had to say “silver” because Park City was famous for silver mining. The Ontario mine was at one time the richest silver mine in the world.
Bee, thanks for finding the local attractions in SLC! It looks like you've discovered alot of
DH material posted on the other HGTV sites!
Did you find any links to the master bedroom? Or are they leaving that for the surprise?
No I didn't, just the master bath and kitchen.
I signed up for Kohler's e-mail newsletter because I like their products and their company and this article and video was in the latest newsletter. A very interesting article and to click on the video it is about 3/4 the way down the article. I think you guys were talking about pies and her pies look so good. http://www.us.kohler.com/pr/pressrelease.jsp?lang…
That was cool! Did you see her apron? "The world needs more pie. Give pies a chance." I absolutely love and crave that sink! I must have one like that. BTW, there are many many examples of the Gothic Revival architectural style in Midway, designed and built by John Watkins in the late 1800's. I have a list and I'm going around photographing them.
Yes her apron was sure cute she is sure cute too. I like how she is dealing with her life now. In another article I read it told how it came about how Kohler donated the sink. About ten years ago Beth Howard and a friend met in Seattle. They went their separate ways but Beth's friend was curious to know how she was doing. She Googled her name and found Beth's blog page. They corresponded back and forth and then her friend took a trip to Iowa. Beth had mentioned to her friend that she didn't like the sink she had. Well her friend just happened to work for Kohler. Just love stories like that. Can't wait to see those pictures. You have given me the idea of carrying around my camera. Oh Oh Soney is having a bad dream he sleeps funny on his back with his legs stretched out. He is making crying sounds have to go poor baby. The way he sleeps would make a cute picture. Talk to you later.
I carry my camera all the time now, it is so much fun. I see pictures everywhere.
one thing about all of the dream homes / green homes and blog cabins. I learn so much about different areas of America than I ever thought I would. Between looking at the scenery and surrounding area and the job markets and things to do,it is incredible the knowledge and beauty that is right under our noses and we would have missed it except for these contests
So true! It's fascinating.
I don't think Dec 1st can get here soon enough for the tour…or Jan for that matter so we can find out who will win this amazing home…crossing my fingers
Progress in the Dream Home blog and progress in my travels. I'll have to wait until I get home to view all of the videos, but along with just being back home again, it'll be fun to have new views of the Dream Home to look forward to, possibly as early as tomorrow depending on my energy level.
After One Night in Bangkok and an early morning departure, I'm currently in Narita Airport (Tokyo) and soon to be Hawaii bound.
Keep the pressure on Mary to "come clean" with all of the exciting news and views we've been waiting to discover here in the blogs!
Sawasdee krup, aloha, and blue skies ahead.
Stay safe!
That's good that there are now 8 solar panels being installed, since this part of Utah is quite cold. But it's also sunny so why not take advantage of energy efficiency.
I got to back and look at the blueprint layout, because the family room was the Western decor so now is this room been changed and smaller? What happened to the already spa guest room, what is it being used for now? Wasn't it located on far end of house off the kitchen end? I can't tell anything from this picture. I bet now the bunk beds, childs room, is going to now be the former guest room.
The surround sound is a bonus feature, that pronounces upscale house amenity, and through the use of very latest technology!!!!!!!!
Everything is the same as it was, there are three guest suites plus the master suite. There is no change in the game/living room. The floor plan always showed the little space under the stairs. The only thing "changed" is the former bunk room is now the third guest suite instead. Every bedroom is ensuite.
Oh I see, instead of changing rooms they are just changing the style of a kids bunk bedroom, to another guest suite. Interesting, most past Dream Homes for bedrooms have been a boys, girls, guest rooms, and a master suite. Thanks for the understanding.
It's going to be great but I think no bedrooms specifically dedicated for “kids” space. I visualize the house being rentable to four couples for ski vacations and I look forward to what they do for the game room/kids slumber space. I can't wait!
Um, I think I like the kitchen. Is that okay? The cabinets seem to continue the cribbing scheme and glass fronts may not be necessary. It's a cozy space and probably welcome in that huge house. (And huge landscape.) Like the color scheme, (Pale sunshine hue) the ceiling height, those celing lamps (agan) the faucet and even Jace!
Thank you for the URL, DeerSpring!
This house looks more "lived in" than the other DHs. That fabulous ottoman, and the wonderful rug (In kid's room) say family. Dec 1 is going to be very fun.
I like it, too. It's big enough for me. Can't wait to see the table and chairs.
Me too. But boy did they try to hide everything else. Which way the island is facing, where the windows are. I'm low tech so I put the photo up to 400% resolution and got a good peek.
Well I admire you. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to up the resolution on the picture.
Wow — a lot has happened over the weekend. So many comments and pix and videos to catch up on! I hope they put cool hardware on the kitchen cabinets. They look sort of unfinished and all those fingerprints opening the cupboards would drive me crazy. I'm loving the wood floor throughout. That's why I missed all this over the weekend, my hubby and I were trying to sand, stain, and seal the wood floors in our small kitchen/dining area! Ugh, I'm so sore today I can't move and the project isn't finished yet! What was he thinking starting this a week before Thanksgiving? There's dust on EVERYTHING and the house smells like paint thinner.
We like to think we are DIY pros, hahahaha, but right now I'm thinking we should have hired a professional!
Be sure to use ventilation!
We don't want you to be sick.
Thanks, Brenda — we didn't really think about ventilation and should have. I had a headache all Sunday! It was supposed to snow over the weekend, but today is sunny and would be perfect for a little fresh air in the house. This is only the beginning as I want to paint the kitchen cabinets, take down the wall paper, and put up a ceramic tile backsplash — not all before Thanksgiving though — maybe it would just be easier to move
Go for it; good luck; it will look wonderful at thanksgiving!
We put the 2nd coat of stain down last night and remembered to open a window for ventilation. Now waiting for it to dry and then the poly-coat goes down, probably Friday night. With luck, kitchen appliances will be back in their spot on Sunday morning. That gives me a day or two to wipe down the walls, counters, and blinds from all the sanding dust before starting to cook Thanksgiving dinner items. The color turned out a lovely Hershey milk chocolate-y brown. Yumm, now I'm craving chocolate!
LOL. Chocolate! The law of unintended consequences. Have a happy thanksgiving.
Thank you for the update. Utah looks / sounds ah-mazing:)
Just watched the videos on the bathroom and kitchen. Oh my gosh, I LOVE them both! The tile in the bathroom has some of the most beautiful color I've ever seen. I can't wait to see it in all kinds of light. And that kitchen is perfect. Just the right size, great layout, and the appliances are unbelievable!! Every year you come up with a house that I want more than the last one. I can easily see myself living "happily ever after!" in this one!!!!
