Hello again! Just wanted to let everyone know that just because I can no longer show up every day and tease you with a state elimination or cryptic clue, it doesn’t mean the blog is going away. Since we’re all having so much fun, we’ve decided to keep it going. Check back regularly for the latest updates on progress at the construction site in Islamorada.
We’re not going to be adding daily posts (“Today, three light fixtures were installed in the kitchen!”), at least for the time being, but I’ll try to find something to yammer on about at least once a week. And I’ll try to bring you some sneak previews of the home along the way, maybe even an early look at one of the more highly anticipated rooms.
For today, here are a couple of fun facts about the HGTV Dream Home blog so far.
It looks like the first person to guess the correct location was Sandra, who submitted this comment on Feb. 21:
“I think the next Dream Home should be in Islamorada, Florida. The Gulf on the west side of the road and the Atlantic on the east side. Beautiful sunrises over the Atlantic and gorgeous sunsets over the Gulf. What more could you ask for!”
And by my totally unscientific survey, it looks like Florida was the most popular location. There are 1,428 blog comments that mention Florida. A few of the other popular states: 1,037 for California, 839 for Washington, 689 for Hawaii, 562 for Arizona, 363 for North Carolina. And among locations outside the United States, Puerto Rico was far and away the most popular with 63 comments. Costa Rica was also popular, and at least one of you wants an HGTV Dream Home in Loch Ness, Scotland.
And a lot of you are asking when you can enter for a chance to win the Islamorada home. Hang on, HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2008 is scheduled to begin on Jan. 1, 2008. For other questions, please read the official rules of HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2007 for information on how the winner is chosen and how they are contacted.
