Could it be Tennessee, Arkansas or New York? Wouldn’t it be most amazing if the home was placed in Colorado, with a view of Pikes Peak? Or Utah? Or Vermont (I can almost taste the flapjacks and maple syrup now).
I am a tad disappointed that no one even came close to cracking clue four. BTW, it’s not a year.
Here is your clue for today: A pretty picture. Post your comments.

Ready for another numbers game? Remember: You seek a single one-digit number in each caption you read. Then add them, subtract them, multiply them or do whatever you think is best. Maybe they are nautical measurements. Maybe they are part of a World War II Cherokee code. Maybe they represent someone’s birthday. You must decide and post your best guesses below.
By the way, when I said I expected 1,000 comments, I meant 1,000 thought-out comments about the Dream Home location. I will let you slide this time.
Ready, set, go:
•One number from this caption in an HGTV Green Home 2010 article on locally sourced green building materials
•One number from this caption in an HGTV Green Home 2010 article about indoor environmental quality
•One number from this caption in an HGTV Green Home 2010 article about energy and air quality
•One number from slide 18 in this HGTV Green Home 2010 article about the Living Room

Someone said something about a rice bowl and chopsticks?
Once this post reaches 1,000 comments, I’ll pass along another clue.

I like shiny things, don’t you?
Good luck on this one. You say I am mean and mischievous. And, well, I’d have to agree — at least about the mischievous part!

I’ve been reading the comments and want you to know that each clue is indeed legitimate — a little tricky, but a crumb that will lead you on the trail to the correct answer.
I’m going to give you a little help. You are looking for one, and only one, one-digit number in each caption. Disregard the photo of the compass — the image is not a clue and will not help you determine the location.
Carry on.

I am pretty impressed by your responses to clue number one. As far as your educated guesses go, some are pretty cold, some near a warm zone and one or two seem right on track — maybe (Mary types as she smirks).
Today, instead of a photo, I am sending you on a number hunt. Once you’ve isolated the numbers you think are correct, you may wish to add them up, subtract them, multiply them, order them numerically or concoct your own secret code. All I ask is that you share your theory with the rest of us – mostly because I find this all highly entertaining.
Ready? Put on your thinking cap and get going.
