Artist’s Rendering of the 2009 HGTV Green Home
HGTVPro.com just posted an artist’s rendering of the HGTV Green Home:

When I saw it, I thought, “Jack’s done it again.” He grounded the house in its setting by choosing the Spanish-influenced style, then blended that style with a casual liveability that instantly says “home.”
If you get a chance, go cruise around HGTVPro.com. Check out their special feature, Building the 2009 HGTV Green Home.

Editor’s Note: If you’ve been watching the blog the last couple of days, you’ll notice that the rendering picture has changed. We just got an updated image from Jack, which I wanted to share with you, hot off the press.

I live in New Orleans and now live in Houston. I can only imagine how beautiful this home would be till I have the joy of winning such a fantastic Spanish style home!
I have 3 children that 2 would adore visiting me in this wonderful place.
I agree that Port St. Lucie is a nice place–but why would you choose a location so close to a nuclear power plant to build a green home?
I have been vertually “touring” the green and dream homes for years. They are are all beautiful and well equipt. My problem is I don’t think any of them are practical for a “real” family. Maybe that’s because I am compairing it to MY real family. I have a “Large” family. This is NOT to imply that if you have no children, or only one child you are not a real family. However, I don’t think any of the homes have been equipt for more than 2 children. We are a military family with four children and my mother lives with us as a dependant. I enter the sweepsteaks thinking about what I would have to do to the houses to actually live in them. The green homes come closer than the dream homes due to the issue of having a family with disabilities including two asthmatic children my phisical disablities and my disabled mother living with us. We are on chemichal free, glueten free diets. This works well for the green life as it is mostly whole foods. Someone needs to build my dream home. Make it green, one leval so we don’t have to deal with stairs, make it allergen safe for my kids, make it big enough for four kids and a mother in law to have their own rooms and create privacy for soldier and his wife when they are actually on the same soil. and while your at it make the living space big enough to seat a family of 7 and guests practically and comfortably. And the kitchen equipt to entertain the many people that come in and out of our home. My vote for location would be near a military base. But honestly, I am sure I am not the only person with four children looking at these dream and green homes and wondering “Who really can live in it?” For the amount of money you spend on these homes shouldn’t a “large” family be able to live in it? Thanks You for your time.
Beautiful house, lovely neighborhood, It’s a lovers paradise. With god’s blessing, and prayers, I am hoping to be the lucky one, so I could help a family member and their children who lost their home, and lost his job. Thanks.
I’m keeping up with the GN09 with a photo album and I really love the design. Green Homes are perfect for our Florida life style. I live close by and it is exciting to see everthing coming together.
Beautiful, I can’t wait to see the real thing, yuo are such teases !!!
The layout looks great. I really like the Idea of having an enterance from the porch to the hall bathroom. I think it would be romantic to have a double or sliding glass door from the master suite to slip out onto the porch for a moonlit glass of wine with your lover.
wow what a beautiful home, so well thought out and the openess of the floor plan is so great and fits the house perfect, some one did there home work very well, I love this house and the lay out I sure would like to win this one. Thanks HGTV some lucky person will get to call this home how wonderful!
I live in Massachusetts and vacation in Florida when the winter weather gets the best of me and my husband. Love, love, love this green home. We have been avid recyclers and have been talking about putting solar panels on our roof as well as a metal roof (two roofs replaced in 20 years). This green home would be my dream home. As a breast cancer survivor I look at ways to have everything around us as well as the food we eat be as healthy as possible. Winning this green home would be a dream come true – living in a green home and being in the place we love. How do I enter to win?
you deleted my first comments when i asked an innocent question about foreclosures in the tradition community …i guess this time around i will only say positive comments … “geeze” “wow” “awsome” … i still want to know how far it is to the beach however.
What is the postal address for the Green Home? MapQuest doesn’t recognize Tradition, Florida.
How is the cost of a green home compared to a traditional home? Can the average homeowner affort to build a green home??
Really proud of HGTV for giving us a green house and the Spanish-style with the tower atop is going to look fabulous. I’m looking forward to a guided tour of this beautiful home. Green is so important as we need to save, recycle, and take care of our planet. I would be proud to live in a green home to share and enjoy with my family. The location is a key factor, close to so many conveniences and so many great places to visit and explore. Thanks, waiting for more updates!
The house looks fabulous. Green architecture would be special for my wife’s allergies. To have this home located less than an hour from our daughter would be more than words can express.
What a beauty and I love the location. May I offer a couple of comments though. How do you access the kitchen from the car? When you are carrying grocery bags you may not want to have to go down the bedroom hallway or through the porch to get there. The kitchen of most often poorly placed for easy access for women in modern floorplans. This a huge complaint and usually an easy fix if addressed before construction.
And why do you have to go through the master closet to get to the bathroom. Might be an issue for older people.
Other than these thoughts this is one house I would LOVE to own.
I love the way you always fit the house to the locale. Don’t we all want to live green… it’s a dream waiting!
i will like to see the house.
I love the green house! This red roof spanish inspired style home sits beautifully in the chosen location. Congratulations to the HGTV team for creating such a beautiful home.
