Who’s Going to Win?
Good afternoon, bloggers!
AHHHHH, I can’t stand waiting. I know, I know — be patient. But I want to know who the winner of the HGTV Green Home is right now! My fingers are crossed that it will be one of our “Greamers” who has been reading the blog or posting comments regularly.
Many of you have asked for more details on pest control at HGTV Green Home. The grounds were treated with termite pre-treatment underslab and a final spray prior to completion. Some building materials also serve as their own form of non-toxic pest control (no wood in low areas, cementitious products, etc.).
Kim, the big HGTV Green Home circles that appear on the floors in the online tour are Web graphics. Don’t worry — the floors themselves are beautiful and clean.
If you still have unanswered questions, post them below; there’s a lot to talk about until the winner is announced.

Dreaming of my new green home…the kids room is already decorated for my gorgeous 2 year old daughter Natalie. And I can’t wait to make marvelous dinners for my friends & family. I can see my fruit and vegetables growing, and I look forward to meeting my Tradition neighbors. Our family is loving the idea of living within a community. The new green home would be our family’s dream if a lifetime come true!
Oh. My. Gosh. I can hardly wait for you guys to come knocking at my door, cameras in my face screaming “Congratulations, HGTV Green Home Winner!!!” When I saw that house, everything about it screamed my name. Even the room for the child are the EXACT same colors as my daughters room. No joke. Im just so excited!!! Its all about the Secret!!!

Good afternoon Gail and to all. Faithful bloggers. And hoping ones. Like me.
I am trying to not to think about who will win, it causes too much stomach aches! SO I think about this beauty standing there surrounded with palm trees kissed by sunshine, washed by rains, being so pretty, so serene, and someone will have the honor to have it. I wish it could be me, but I know many people wish the same! I am almost ashamed to think about me first, but I love tropics…. cannot help but dream about this green home… dream of being there, polish the quartz stone surfaces, do the garden, smell the air after rain…. work from there, hear laughter of my daughter…. smell the sunshine…ah
I only hope the winner will someone who will value this house, who will take care of it, who will pursue what this house is about: preserve energy, water, have own garden and use the products, do the composting, being sustainable, caring – and all.
Since I lived for one year in tropical climate I am in love with it, and I absolutely love this house. It is well designed ( I love this spanish/mediterranean look – I came here from Europe over 20 years ago… married here, getting older here, and wish so much to be in warm climate with garden all year, with all these eco things.) If I will win it, I might plant more trees and bushes around, I will cherish it, polish it, care for it, preserve it, clean it, enjoy it, love it. I know my daughter will do the samel. She is 8 -and so much earth/animal/people conscious that it is almost unbelievable. She will switch the lights of, cares for water, animals, we eat healthy…I will have friends and family over, we will care and love this house.
I love this roof garden, love the composting and water barrels, love the baths, the kitchen, the open floor with possibility to hide in sitting room. Like the space between garage and house. Love the steam washer and dryer – it is so good for people with allergies.
I agree with Renee when she wonders if other winners will take care of the house. I do wonder the same, will people care and do?
Reading some of the bloggers makes me sad – the people who have nothing, or have it hard. I know how it feels. But one has to go and work and do things. Be determined. I went through hard times in my life. I understand desperation. I saw really poor people in Belize….but without doing nothing really happens.

I was wondering…I entered the green home give away several times. Unfortunately my phone number has changed since the entries and I am affraid that if I was to be the soooo very lucky winner a wont ever know and they will choose someone else. Will they contact the winner by phone,email, or in person of the 25. Please if you would let me now. I am very worried about this. I absolutely love the house and wish to be the winner. My husband and I would be blessed to live here.

i wish i will this house…………not becuase i am selfish, but because i am just so tired of life…….i am a first generation immigrant and life has been extreamly tough….taking care of parents who dont even speak english and they are both very sick.I tried very hard and got an education and then bought my first house so my parents could live there, only to find out that the house had major contruction problems.I only found this out after i bought the house…there is always water in the basement and everything leaked…that put me in to depression..even though i was making six figures..i couldnt work because of depression…then i devolped OCD and life has been extreamly hard ever since then.i just wanted to live the american dream but because of a greedy realestate agent i was duped.life is not worth living because of that……i was willing to work hard and make a living but cause someone deceived me and took away the joy out of my soul. why i am writing this all…i dont know….i dont want any one to feel sorry for me, but i wish god would give me a break and give this house…i know this sounds so selfish and i know there are a lot of other deserving people out there..but cant i just dream???wish me luck and pray for me…..

It’s exciting to think the winner will be truly as surprised as everyone. My hat is in the ring and as they say in the horse racing bus, ” and there they go”! The nice thing in my dream is I have as much hope and chance to win as anyone, so that’s a good feeling and after all hope is what living is all about.
Thanks to the whole team for sharing and showing us around this lovely home and grounds and teaching us all more about eco friendly means. I’ll look forward to the ringing of the doorbell and the big surprise!

I almost wish it would be the”house” who will pick the right people to live in. Does this sound crazy? Yes. But it would be like when we go shopping – we pick the things we want…so the house could be shopping for its caretakers…

I entered every single day. I hope and pray that I can win so my sister can finally get a place to live and get out of that apartment she is in now. Unfortunately I will be visiting her for a while but my parents will be there just in case it’s me. It is a beautiful home and the kids room would be great for my young child and I adore the garden. I am so excited, good luck to everyone!

I keep coming back to look at the pictures!! The home is beautiful & I would love to win it and take care of it. Like a lot of people we’ve had a rough time with the economic issues over the last couple years, but being a resourceful sort, re-invented myself and am doing lots of contract work – and enjoying the ability to work from home. The sitting room will make a perfect office -or the porch!
If they are picking local for owners as well as furniture & materials, that would be me – we live in Palm Beach county, just down the road and can move in right away! 2009 HGTV Green Home for me!!

The winner was chosen yesterday out of 16 million entries.
Can you believe it 16 million entries, is that a record? This economy may be affecting more and more people who are looking for a way to survive and this certainly would be one way.
Thinking of selling my home, yes can do that still, and using the profit to purchase another home free and clear, so all I have to do is pay for the utilities. Would mean having to downsize even more into much smaller home but at least would be mine and not have to worry so much about money each month. Would mean leaving the town I live in and moving elsewhere but the way things are going may have to do anyway. No one’s job is safe. Have to think about what may happen in the next five or so years and if doesn’t look as better may not be able to sell house then.
This home will certainly set someone up for a long time and hopefully live on the profits for many years if careful.

If the winner is me, you all may still have a chance due to the fact that I’m on vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and my home is in Scranton, PA. Poor Me! LOL
I am excited about the possibility of winning. My daughter, has drawn each room to the T. She is counting down the days. We have been eating, breathing and dreaming of being in this house. My daughters have chosen rooms and have even told their friends they may not be living in SC anymore that they will have to visit them in Florida. LOL!

Has the winner already been chosen? And I’m dying to know when they closed up the closet in the laundry room and added the pretty wood cabinet, did they make the closet larger in the sitting room or did they just seal up the closet and leave that space unable to use?
Also I saw a picture of the garage on the inside and on the back wall i saw all kinds of cabinets and work area. looks huge too.
