P.S. Big game this weekend: Chargers vs. Broncos!! Can you imagine the thrill of having the next Green Home build near San Diego? My vote is in!!! Just think of the 'tail-gate parties' happening at the stadium...why not throw that ole Tom Turkey on the 'Barbie' and have a different kind of Thanksgiving celebration? Fans, Fair Weather, Football and Feasting...doesn't get much better than that!! Pleeeeeeease cast your vote for Del Sur, San Diego, CA!!!!

As a LEED AP, I'd be thrilled to see the finished product!
Someone asked why the interest in the lighthouse concept, there are many along the coasts. It is a beacon of light to help the sailors find their way home safely. So many people have STORMS in their lives, how many of them are searching for a bright LIGHT?
Green project completed today!!!!! I took an old wool jacket, a pair of old slacks, and some sawdust from my husband's recent woodworking project and created a sewing ham.( A ham is used in ironing seams and a great help with shirt sleeves.) With the holidays quickly approaching that sawdust is going to be handy for some other ideas I have up my sleeve. hehehe I wonder how much sawdust comes from building a GH? Maybe a doorstop made from sawdust and other worn fabrics could be made. : ) What else can be made from sawdust?
PD
Dear: Mary I want to tell you that if you're aware what appear in the area
where say Newest Comments on the right upper , I really didn't remember since when this comments appeared but, today the comment is offering medications without prescription, I really wanted to let you know because this medications are undercontrol and I don't
believed that HGTV allow this ads on its page.
Thanks,Dear Mary; for the floor plans I love the Tower `.~
Come on Coop: You have to know about my obsession with lighthouses by now!! I have waited all my life to live in one! Soooo, maybe my symptoms of anxiety can be put to rest if I win this gorgeous home, 'cause it gives way to the feeling of ocean, lighthouse tower & dreams of a unique home on the shore !!
Katydid: So sorry, but I just cannot forget the lighthouse thing and using my imagination for this home will shine through bright and clear; maybe clear enough for Coop to spot any bears in the woods!
Trish: Thank you for your beautiful words about the lighthouse concept!!
MGTOTD: If your cookies have hardened, place them in a sealable sandwich bag with a piece of bread overnight. The next day you'll have fresh, soft cookies again!!!
Trish: About Sawdust: How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?? Did you know that there is a Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, CA? There are many different styles of arts and crafts displayed with Sawdust on the ground…thus the "sawdust festival!!" But to answer your question about what else can be made from sawdust, the first thing that comes to mind is mulch, or another is an alternative to clay cat litter, or simply…used as a fuel!! Nice idea to hang on to is the use of sawdust as fuel instead of gas!!
I don't know about the fresh cookies idea, Marie. I'm constantly trying to get RID of cookies so all these websites aren't tracking my every move online. Seriously though, if you end up with fresh, soft cookies, what happens to the slice of bread? Do you have to put it in a baggie with fresh cookies to reverse the process. In any event, I guess you could use the hard bread to make pain perdu. That would be a win-win resolution of the bread versus cookie problem.
Pilgrims United Against Hard Cookies!
Of course I know about your healthy interest in lighthouses, Marie Miller. I was just pulling your leg (as opposed to a bear hug) because Katydid was teasing me about my fascination with bears. Are you kidding, I've never used the word bear more than once in a paragraph, much less respond to any such commentary in a spiteful manner, as if I were loaded for bear, or something of the sort. Any further suggestions to the contrary, in my usual calm manner, I will just grin and bear it!
By the way, do they have bears in Plymouth? I mean, not that I'm concerned about it or anything, since there's wide open space between the surrounding trees and the Green Home. Any bear wouldn't have a chance trying to rush across that barren landscape towards the house without being spotted by that powerful lighthouse beacon. I'm sure Marie Miller will be on the job with her eagle eyes 24/7 to keep any such intruders, bull or bear, from foolishly making a rush on the Green Home perimeter.
And finally, another brainstorm, thanks again to one of your comments, Marie. Do you think we'll ever see the day when we pull our cars up to the fuel pump and say "fill'er with sawdust please?" I guess instead of octane levels, we'd have our choice of pine, oak, or maple.
Coop: OMG!!! You are genius! I love your comments, and can 'bearly' stop laughing!!! And, to pull up to a fuel pump and say, "fill'er up with maple", just tickles me so!! No matter how depressing a day can be, I just read your comments, and a smile happens!! Thank you for your intellectual humor!! Another thumbs up on all three comments!!!
I suppose when it comes to celebration at our Plymouth Pilgrim's Plantation, maybe Coop & Show-Me could muster up a feast that would include numerous types of waterfowl, wild turkeys and fish procured like the original colonists! A very fitting feast for a Royal Thanksgiving with all the trimmings!!! So, Coop & Show-Me drag out the musket and get busy hunting, Thanksgiving is coming soon!!!
MGTOTD: When you have a spoonful or so of vegetables such as beans, peas, or corn left over after a meal, put in a freezer container or bag in the freezer instead of throwing them away. Then, once you've accumulated enough, use your veggie leftovers to make a stew or soup!!
Pilgrim Ph-lasher's Peas' Plea
Coop: Wetlands are of prime importance to the Black Bear in Massachusetts, especially in spring and early summer when these areas provide food (grasses, sedges, tubers, and various fruits and berries) and cover, and serve as travel corridors. However, I'm not too worried about the bears in Plymouth, but we might worry more about the Bats, Squirrels, Skunks and Raccoons, and not to speak of Rat, Wild Opossums, Groundhog and Moose!
Marie Miller: Would you really trust Coop and Show Me to bear a musket and go hunting for a Thanksgiving dinner? We could end up with rare roast bear with barely there gravy. And a moose mousse for dessert. On the other hand, he orders fish for dinner quite a bit. Let's give him a line, some bait and hope he comes up with a real good fish story.
Pilgrims for Green eats and tasty treats.
nice floor plans

Ohhhh Katydid: Your words are as witty as Coop's, but I must tell you that Roasted Bear is deliciously bearable, even if we have to bear with the Moose Mousse for dessert! I'm sure that Coop with take hook, line and sinker to another depth when it comes to fishy dinners & Pilgrim Ph-ancies!! He's the king of tales, whales & puppy dog tales!!
Much to do about lean and green from the Pine Hills Ph-lasher Pilgrim!!
MGTOTD: To remove the smoky smells from clothes after a night out, add 1 cup of vinegar to a bathtub of hot water. Hange the clothes above the steam for an hour or so. It really works!!
(I can hardly wait for Coop's comment on this one?)
LOL Truly a sense of humor on this board.
Beside building a sewing nook, my FIL also broad a homemade turkey caller to us. I think it might just come in handy if there are any turkeys in the area. Don't worry about the bears & moose…those are farther north; unless one of you sent directions.
Hmmmmm roasted bear is delicious? Never had THAT before. I wonder if the bear's hide would be REUSED into a RUG for the tower. One way to keep those toes toasty.
Hey Trish: Just so we have no doubt about my delicious roasted bear, I've attached a recipe for all my adventurous Pilgrims with Wild Appetites:
Roast Bear:
3-4 lbs. young bear roast
1/4 cup cooking oil
1 garlic clove
1 minced onion
1/3 cup red wine
4 carrots
3 stalks celery, diced
1 1/3 cup water
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup tomato paste
2 tsp. salt
Place roast in a skillet and add cooking oil. Braise roast on all sides using high heat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes. Place roast and sauce in an open pan and cook for 3-4 hours at 350 degrees. Baste often. At the end, remove the vegetables and blend to thicken sauce. Roast should be served well done. Serves 6-8. WOW!!
And, Trish, I think it very fitting to have a Bear Skin Rug somewhere in our GH2010. I'm not sure I want it in the Tower, 'cause I have much work to do up there with all my becon duties. I am dedicated to achieve my goal by lighting the sky, and it might trip me up to turn on a furry foundation!! Maybe, we could arrange the Bear Body by one the Fireplaces…that would bearly hurt any decor!!!
Further, Trish, maybe with your Tricky Turkey Caller, you might russell up a fat Tom Turkey to go along with the Bear Roast for a scumptious Thanksgiving Day celebration!!
You're a very wise woman, Katydid. I wouldn't trust Show Me with a russet potato much less a musket. Now, I have caught a few fish before, but mostly I just flounder around. I think it would be safer just to order out.
I was not on the HGTV blogs site for long time. It is nice to see the floor plans for green home. It seems rather small. I think it could have 3 bedrooms. Or 2 bdrms and office. There is no space for home office.
Looks cozy, nice. Maybe the office could be in tower?
How is everyone?
Good grief, Marie Miller, first it's Smokey Bear Roast, then Roasted Tom Turkey…. What's next, Babe the Pig Ham Hocks? Or Bugs Bunny Stew? Sauteed Kermit Frog Legs? Sheesh! These are my childhood heroes for heaven sakes, placed on the chopping block for the sake of culinary creativity and gastronomical gluttony.
Wow, all that talk about food made me hungry as a bear. Time for some of those BBQ'd Foghorn Chicken Wings!
Pinehills Pilgrims for Phashionable Phaux Phurs!
Rather small, luba? We had some young guests recently. They saw that the two of us had two bathrooms and thought we lived in a castle. Getting the viewpoint of kids is great! Therefore, since this GH has a bathroom on each floor (uncertain about the basement), and MINUS the tower water closet. And hence a TOWER included…this would be considered a CASTLE. Thereby creating the name Green Castle.
Oh my gosh….it's been a long time since I thought about Foghorn. Heck…maybe a foghorn should be included in the tower along with a flashing light.
Do you feel better now, DBCoop?
OOOps….make that THREE bathrooms.
im real happy it has a basement no matter how big cuz basements are a blast after watching a scary movie
Well, I don't know how safe a basement is, scary movie or not. Don't North American Black Bears like to hide out in basements? They just wait there, in a dark corner. Kind of reminds me of the movie title, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?"
Kristen: I think basements are a blast for watching a scary movie, not after. Mostly windowless, they are dim, allowing your imagination to soar. What lurks in each corner. Marie might see a snake curling around a support beam. I would see big spiders ('cause small ones are always there) many would see chain saws, hockey masks, and blood. Coop would see a bear, of course, but with his charm and wit, he would have the bear eating out of his hand. Or maybe eating his hand.
Just trying to set the mood for Halloween, coming up soon.
Notice I haven't mentioned witches! They can be ugly, funny, sexy……I love them all.
Hey guys, What is your favorite memory and how can we keep it Green this year?
Marie: About your recipe for Roast Bear. I could not start with a "young" bear. Perhaps you didn't mean to call it a cub roast, just a tough rump. Your recipe sounds delicious. I'll try it, but will add more garlic.
I know you wouldn't annoy anyone with a foghorn, your brilliant smile is enough to keep sailors on the straight and narrow. But what in the heck is Foghorn Chicken Wings?
Coop you forgot my favorite Braised Bambi! Or for the younger generation fried Nemo!
Wow, thanks Marie Miller—three thumbs up—that means I've got one to spare, and now I can count to eleven!
Since I've got an extra, I'm going to "hand" one back to you!
Katydid, you're right, I see the bear as my blood brother, since my honorary Native American name is Running Bare. I'm not quite sure how I got that nickname, but it may have something to do with a wild night many years ago, and one shot too many of some potent mescal, which is a fermented agave drink.
Wishing bewitching basements to all, especially those residents of Sleepy Hollow.
How could I possibly have forgotten Braised Bambi?! It's the staple of any Plymouth Pilgrim's dinner party! AND a Southern favorite, Daffy deep-fried Duck!
Yum, is it dinnertime yet?
Katydid, say it isn't so. Certainly you must remember Foghorn Leghorn (officially known as Foghorn J Leghorn)—this rascal was a Warner Brothers Looney Tunes character; a mischievous, loud-mouthed rooster with a strong Southern accent who starred in 28 cartoons between 1946 and 1963.
Foghorn's usual nemesis and cartoon rival was Barnyard Dawg, and it was Foghorn who was usually the instigator of their scraps. Foghorn's typical catch phrase was "That's a joke… I say, that's a joke, son."
I think Foghorn Chicken Wings, considering the source is one old rooster, would be as tough as the character himself.
Pilgrims Who Prefer Plump Phryers!
Aw, gee, Coop, don't know how I missed a mischievous, loud-mouthed rooster, but I guess I did. I'll pass on the Foghorn Chicken Wings, but here is a recipe that I used to serve that was very popular with guests called Swingin' Wings:
10 chicken wings, disjointed, tips discarded
1/4 lb. butter, melted
1 small box parm. cheese
1 teasp. garlic powder
Dip wings in butter and then in combined cheese and garlic powder mixture.
Arrange on cookie sheet and bake in 350 oven for l hour. If I made them today I would place them on that non-stick foil, as they tended to stick to the baking sheet.
Not the healthiest of treats, so I gave them up, but boy, were they good!
Happy Haunting Pinehills Pilgrims!
And then there's always Flounder & Sebastian sea crab! Definitely a Pilgrim's meal. Maybe its a crab filled stuffing. Hope someone has a recipe.
there are turkeys all over this developement – lots of dear also – bow season started a couple weeks ago………….
ok, deer, early for me……..
It is a great house but I am disappointed that there are no bedrooms on the first floor! Again non-accessible. Please consider all people when making design choices in the future. It isn't that difficult to incorporate universal features while building a home, harder to put them in after. Every new home should have at least one roll in shower and accessible bedroom. Thanks HGTV
2009 Home was ausome so I know that 2010 will be to live for.
This home is going to be beautiful when it is completed. It will be amazing! I can't wait to see what the tower is going to looik like when it is completed but it looks great! I love the large porch. It is going to be perfect for sunrise and sunset!
went to pine hills yesterday – the pictures are outdated – there is a picket fence, landscaping (with many native plantings), and pavers – the home is on a small lot, however there are common areas that are maintained by the neighborhood associations – they have grass (for all you grass haters), but, there is plenty of water in this area – the grass that was planted was sod, usually a large content of kentucky bluegrass – although the grass in not perfectly suited for the area, it provide a quick erosion control – overseeding in subsequent years with a grass mixture will let nature decide what grass will thrive with less attention – the home has be painted/stained – the large amount of excavation in the photos is for other homes being built – this area grow quickly, and, there is plenty of the native vegetation steps away from the common areas – there are some great features, among them the rain barrel with pump – and no on told me how to get the water from the rain barrels in green home 2009 to the rooftop garden……..
I was at pine hills yesterday – the towe (loft) may be high enough for both your sunrise/sunset………
As we just finished a very similar home completely designed on our own about a year , I can say that our interest in the lighthouse concept had nothing to do with yours… wuote on the contrary, it simply hailed from the fact that the tower thus afforded the office housed within not just a great view of the magnificient lake but also a tree top view of the wooded area adjacent to it. Thus givig it the wide open spaces of the lake views but also the comforting embrace of the closeness that the tree tops conveyed. Overall, nature at its finest all around!
Thanks for the floor plans! Great post!!! This is very interesting. great job keep up the good work. Keep it up!!!
Actually I am smitten with the artist's rendering. Lovely brush strokes. I wonder if it will be framed and hung in the home. Please excuse me if this has already been discussed….I am slow to join the blog.
Catching up takes a long time! The floor plans are interesting, but I can't enjoy them as much. Going backwards lacks real time pizzaz. Wondering if this is worth it.
Thanks for the great report BBSteve.
Coop, was Foghorn Leghorn the cartoon character who said, "I'm a-chopping but I don't see the chips a-flying?"
Hi Luba, how are you? Good to see a post from you. Haven't been a regular on the blogs lately. Hope to have more free tme now.
Marie Miller, which home is your favorite — Green or Dream Home? Hope you get your heart's desire.
