A Peek Inside HGTV Green Home 2010

I might get in trouble for revealing this photo prematurely. (No, I won’t. Yes, I might. Maybe I won’t. But you’ll have my back if I do, right?) I’m teasing you in anticipation of the virtual tour, which launches on April 1 — mark your calendars! And I see many have been asking about the launch of the giveaway. That happens on April 16 at about 9 a.m. EST.

At the end of this week the online crew heads to Plymouth, Mass., to do our photo shoots for the online tour. Stay tuned … more updates (and sneak-peek photos) to come!

  6. I agree Lessie 100%, ……….. Welllll , Guess what !, I felt so bad hearing about you and many of the bloggies having to shovel so much snow, I'm thrilled to tell you, the weather man said this evening , that it's 90% chance of Snowww here tomorrow , IN Alabama, !!!! he said maybe 3 inches , now I know that doesn't sound like not much to get excited about , but , you know , we never get snow , so it will be a treat to me , I just hope the rain will hold off , not being use to those conditions , it will make driving a problem. . I'll let you know how much we really do get . How is your weather there now ? Be safe and warm

    Ali B on February 12, 2010 at 1:00 am
  7. Ali B, I saw on the weather channel that you guys are getting snow. Good for you! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! As for us, we've dug out again and are waiting for the next storm on Monday.

Lessie on February 12, 2010 at 3:02 am
  8. Thanks Luba. How are you? Hope you're enjoying life and have overcome previous health problems.

  9. Well, good news for HGTV—highs in Plymouth this weekend will be in the mid to upper 30's, and most important of all, mostly sunny.

Have a great time, and don't forget to take some photos to share with us!

  12. We can dream, right? I can't imagine how much snow you are in…. If I could I would ski over and shovel you out!! hehehehe!!

  13. Ali B, I wish your daughter the best out of life. Keeping her diet healthy and clean will continue to help. Food is medicine!! Plus remove any grooming products that have chemicals… I use a natural mineral stone for deodorant (in spray form, too)! It is a continual process…. What a wonderful mother she has!!!

reneelovesgreen on February 12, 2010 at 6:16 pm
  14. Great job, Luba!! Yes, stay away from that corn syrup. I use agave' syrup to sweeten. In the morning coffee, I use agave' and cinnamon!! YUM… I use coconut oil for so much, too!! and olive oil… My son loves this cereal called Koala Crisp (gluten free) and Leaping Lemurs (also gluten free).. I also allow him to have ice cream (like the coconut bars free of fructose) Your daughter has a wonderful foundation from you being so caring and concerned. Teaching them early is the best!

reneelovesgreen on February 12, 2010 at 6:23 pm
  15. Hope this helps. I'm 5'7". Most of the snow is waist high. Along the street curve it's chest high. When I walked to the shopping center, the snow was well over my head on the parking lot (where it's piled high to free parking spaces). But then this is not ordinary snow. Kinda reminds me of MN because you can't see around the snow piles at intersections.

Lessie on February 12, 2010 at 9:09 pm
  16. Marie Miller: Thought I'd find you here. Hope your remodel is coming along nicely. Please let us know how you like it when it is done. Thanks for the tip on returning CFL bulbs at IKEA. I do believe this Green Home is perfect for you, and I wish you special good luck. Just keep this in mind when after April 1st, I wish everyone good luck. You are special!

  17. Ernie: I did as you advised….got as far as "Building the …….2010, but couldn't find a video gallery, so of course I couldn't find "tile". Can you elaborate a little bit more and help me find where I went wrong? Thanks so much.

Katydid on February 12, 2010 at 11:39 pm
  18. How wonderful for you JessiRose, congratulations!!! I will go to my baby girls ultrasound next month to see my sixth grandchild. We have all girls so far so another one will fit right in. Now if its a boy its going to have some doting cousins around to care for him! Again, much love to you and yours.

  19. I love the modern look in a traditional style Cape Cod home. I wouldn't want it any other way. Simple, elegant, clean. I love the beach area along Plymouth, it is accessible for walking and I love the idea of visiting the market, restaurants, and shops in Plymouth. I've only been to Boston though my cousins grew up on Cape Cod. I cannot wait to move there if I should lose to a different winner of the Dream Home! I'm so excited about the tour of the Green Home coming soon…

  20. Mary what do they say, if you are having trouble making a decision but you feel good about your direction – take a chance and ask forgiveness later if it was wrong. I think you made the right decision. See how many of us are going crazy. What an impression you have made on each of us – WOW -It just makes us hungry to see more. Will look forward with much anticapation for new peaks and clues. Thanks for keeping us all excited.

  22. Ah, those green drawing pencils bring back memories of art school. There is a lot of them because they come in different levels of "soft" and "hard".

  29. This home is designed for young very Green seniors. People that are downsizing and want less clutter. People who need to walk the long beaches, eat more sea food, golf and read a good book by the fire. In a word it is perfectly and wonderfully been made for me. I thank you HGTV. I am eternally grateful

  32. SO, I'm finally gonna get a chance to live in New England and swim in the Atlantic instead of the Pacific! Here in San Diego we have to drive to the mountains to experience snow…looks like I can just open my door, step right out and build a snowman. Can't wait to give him an organic carrot nose!

  37. That would be me and mine Ernie. This is my house ;-)
Isn't it the most beautiful green home in the whole wide WORLD!!!

    Belinda J on February 19, 2010 at 2:44 pm
  38. I am so impressed with what I have seen on the exterior of this home. The craftsmanship and attenition to detail has aroused my curiosity so much so that although my children all live in the SW where the 2010 Dream Home is located, I would very much consider relocating myself to this area.

Boston is not that far away, and the flora and the fauna and nearby coast make this an ideal situationa for me as I am a researcher who would love to work in the academic community nearby. All my children are grown now, but this would be a great treasure!

  47. This home screams New England and so tastefully designed inside and out. From the landscape with the boulders in the yard to the eco features inside allowing for comfort without the draftiness usually found in so many older New England homes. So pleasing to the eye it just makes me smile. April seems soooo far away! My mother and I have vacationed in MA and ME several times during the fall and early winter and just love it! We may be Floridians but our hearts are in New England. We can't wait to see the tour and for the sweeps to begin!!!

Linda on February 21, 2010 at 5:39 pm
  48. I've just finished looking at the floor plans to try to put the photos from the slide show into perspective. Looks like the master bath has changed a lot – photo shows the tub in the center while the floor plan has it against the wall plus other changes. is there a revised floor plan somewhere?

Carole on February 21, 2010 at 7:40 pm
  49. I can't wait every year now for the Green Home sweepstakes. I don't even bother with the dream home giveaway's anymore because they pale in comparison, for me at least. I have a feeling that I'm going to win it this year since the drawing starts on my birthday! Is that a sign or what? Well, anyhow, can't wait for the virtual tour to start up and don't worry, we all got your back!!!

dreamingoftheGHinIN on February 22, 2010 at 8:51 am
  50. I think that every green home should have a green house with a composting section and some herb and vegies seeds ready to start growing. That to me says self-sufficient and Green Dream Home..
