  1. The basement is unfinished – but very large (the same size footprint as the first floor). Most homes in the Pinehills only have 2 bedrooms and thus if folks have visitors or grandkids stay, you can create 1-2 bedrooms in the lower level.

  5. I am currently going through a divorce and losing my house. I also decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree. My son is autistic and has inspired me to go into special education. I heard the University of Mass. has a great masters program for autism. This would be turning lemons into lemonade!! Good luck all!

  9. I bookmarked the site in my browser on the toolbar so it will be there and will remind me to enter every day. I have been entering HGTV dream home giveaways for the last 4 years and I am praying that this year will be my year. I have been advocating green living for a number of years and work in stride to implement it in to my life and home. I believe in recycling and reusing.

  10. I have had to live in Houston, Tx. for the past 20 years. We have no family here, and it's very lonely without family. we just sold our home, and are moving to Mass. to be near our daughter and granddaughter. I love this house so much, winning this would be the biggest dream of our lives. All the hard work, and green features, is just phenominal. I usually don't pray for monetary things, but I do pray that this will be my home!

  16. Gail, I would dearly love to get a phone call on the 4th telling me I've won my dream green home. However, I've never won anything, I do mean anything, well, I won the love of my husband and that's not nothing, believe me. He is now a retired Marine working at yet another job, we can't wait unitl we can retire and travel the country seeing our 4 daughters and 3 grandkids, it'd be great to have that beautiful home for them to come visit us, especially at Christmas!! Well, got off track, we're going to Texas to see my elderly parents who can't make the trip to see us anymore and we'll be there on the 4th, do they just show up at your house and then go to the next person on the list or will they call so I can tell lthem where we are? We'll be in Fort Worth Texas and would love to see the HGTV team drive up to tell us we won this beautiful home. Just wondered how that worked. Everyone did such a great job on this house, everything is within walking or biking distance, just great!!!! Thanks for any info you can give us.

  17. I think if the taxes prove too difficult and you want to keep the house, if you're old enough to quallify, you could do a reverse mortgage, anything would be better than losing that beautiful home.

nansue on May 3, 2010 at 12:09 pm
  18. Did you see anywhere you can store an RV there, it's not a tacky one or anything, a nice looking motorhome.

  19. I took some time to read comments and some are teriffic, loving the house and all. Some are actually rather negative, putting down certain parts of the house, already planning to sell, etc. I don't know why someone who really doesn't seem to like the house would bother to enter to win, I know there are a lot of people who really want to win it, myself included, but for those who have complains, maybe you ought to stop entering and give the rest of us a better chance. Not trying to be nasty or anything, but if you really don't like it, why would you want to win it? Again, not trying to be nasty or negative, but I guess everyone is entitiled to their own opinion, good or bad, so I appologize if I've upset anyone.

  20. did anyone answer the question why no Mico wave? Is it a green thing

chris on May 3, 2010 at 9:29 am
  21. No question, the house is beautiful, and the location in Plymouth is great…Our family vacations in Plymouth every summer, a rental at Mamonet Beach. Having this house as our summer home would be FANTASTIC…We as a family, our son and his family and daughter vacation together every summer, how wonderful it would be to vacation every weekend, just love the granchildren. My husband and I could sell our home and retire there, he loves his golf and I love to shop, Boston,Wrentham, Cape Cod, etc.etc. so many things to do. The house is plenty big enough for a family of 6 to 8, its cozy, colorful, relaxing and most important green. If we all honestly thought green we CAN save this beautiful world for future generations. ..

  28. A CHANCE OF HOPE AND A CHANCE TO CREATE A NEW BETTER LIFE FOR OURSELVES
Dear, creaters and owners of the great eco friendly home sweepstakes my name is Adrienne Dominique Scott. I am 13 years old and i live with my mom in Hawaii. 34. I'm one of the bloggers who has "fallen-in love" with this beautiful home. I am a single, divorced mom with three kids, (one at home), and was left with nothing (no home, no car, no financial help) when I left my abusive 'wasband' . Our family has spent time viewing all the pics and dreaming of having a real home of our own in a great area! My older two kids are in college and my younger daughter is so excited and dreaming about having a new room all to herself. We are praying and hoping. My kids are three good hearts walking this earth and we never ever give up hope that we have a positive future ahead! In the meantime, we enjoy and appreciate each small joy that comes along. Blessings to all!!

Stacy on May 13, 2010 at 9:59 pm
  35. Stacy, I hope you win this home so very much; I know you're not suppose to pray for material things, but I can say a prayer for your well being & if that includes you getting this home, then so be it !! God Bless.

gremol on May 13, 2010 at 11:56 pm
  36. David, you mentioned less blogging? Maybe it means different people are entering. I am new this time, because the other houses were too big for us, and I really appreciate the green, and New England. I am hoping lots of people are like me, liking this because it makes so much sense to build a little smaller. I'd like those people as neighbors in Ohio or MA or wherever, so I just hope it is a trend. But why are we who love small with steps apparently not blogging as much? (If that is the case) Maybe we are just not the blog-a-lot demographic. Maybe we are an older group, or a busier group or we just aren't that into logging computer hours. I am hoping HGTV has linked onto a trend, but maybe they are just ahead of their time. I love reading about all the new ideas in this cottage.

  38. This house is truely beautiful. I can picture myself sitting on the porch and relaxing. I just have one important comment, The prize package amounts to somewhere around 800K, does anyone realize that because it is worth so much, that you would have to pay at least around $300,000.00 in taxes to take possession. Personally, I dont have that much money lying around. Well, I suppose that you could use the $100,000.00 worth of prize money to offset it, but then, could you afford the property taxes after?
