Thanks for posting your questions and being patient as we gear up for the online tour of HGTV Green Home 2010. Some queries we cannot answer at this time without giving too much detail away.

Q. Does HGTV Green Home 2010 have a basement?
-Ernie
A. Yes, indeed. The home features a very large unfinished basement.

Q. Can the basement or tower accommodate a bedroom?
-Char
A. The basement is designated for the mechanical area and storage in this home and is not considered living space. The tower is probably a little small to double as a bedroom, but someone could certainly lounge there and enjoy a nap.

Q. What was Linda’s inspiration in decorating this home?
-LynnCoggin
A. Interior designer Linda Woodrum took her inspiration from traditional cottage style and added her own funky, modern twist. A recurring theme of circles and squares can also be found throughout the house.

Q. When will GH2010 tours likely be starting up in Plymouth?
-BBSteve
A. Tours will begin in mid-April. Check back for specific dates and times soon!

Q. When can we start entering for the contest?
-barbara crotzer
A. The giveaway entry period begins on April 16 at 9 a.m. ET.

Q. How large is the master tub?
-Ernie
A. The soaking tub in the master bathroom measures approximately 2 feet deep by 4 feet long.

Q. I would like to know about the fireplace. Is it wood burning with a gas starter or what?
-Linda
A. The living room features a gas fireplace by Rinnai.

Today is the final day of our online trip. At this moment a snow gently falls outside as Bruce, our photographer, snaps the last of his photos for the virtual tour and I sit at the kitchen island (the countertop is a bright tomato red, by the way), transcribing recorded interviews with interior designer Linda Woodrum and builder Glenn MacKenzie, who stopped by yesterday to walk us through the home and point out his favorite green features and custom details.

We took a short road trip yesterday to Cape Cod and swung into the public beach at West Yarmouth. That may have been the first time I’ve seen snow on top of white sandy beach. And it was cold as the dickens!

I’ve included a group shot of our team, as well as a lovely beach photo that our senior visual designer Daniel snapped yesterday.

Enjoy!

After examining every room and marveling over interior designer Linda Woodrum’s furniture, fabric and accessory choices (traditional New England, the scheme is not), I have to say that my favorite space is ...

The trip to Plymouth, Mass., was rather uneventful for our online crew. We departed from Tennessee just in time to escape a winter storm bulldozing its way across the southern states. The flight was calm (a few bumpy spots, but nothing out of the ordinary), the drive from Providence, RI, to Plymouth was a pleasure (so nice to see salt water and seagulls again!) and our first few days at the home have been simply serene as the photographers take pictures and I take notes in preparation for the launch of the virtual tour.

After examining every room and marveling over interior designer Linda Woodrum’s furniture, fabric and accessory choices (traditional New England, the scheme is not), I have to say that my favorite space is, oddly enough, the laundry room. There’s just something really cool and industrial about that space, outfitted as it is with tiled floors, a deep oversized sink, nautical-style light fixtures, cranberry red appliances, interesting textures and storage galore. I could imagine someone coming in from the garden with a basket of fresh herbs to trim — or from the bay with a bushel of quahogs to shuck.

I couldn’t sign off without sharing a few pictures of the interior (click on each thumbnail to view the full-size beauty shot). The series of steps that leads to the tower puts one in mind of a spiraling lighthouse staircase. The view from the top is just about as spectacular — but rather than leagues of deep blue sea, you behold acres of lush pine. Take a look at the pics, post your thoughts and let me know if you have any questions I might be able to answer before our virtual tour launches on April 1.

Peace out … and here’s hoping HGTV Green Home 2010, Plymouth and plenty of fish chowder are in your future!
