  1. Looks as though it's another season of inferior decorators, being passed off as "Design Stars."

  2. wow erikcreature….talk about judging a book by its cover…hmmm did you audition and not make the cut? A little bitter maybe??

Diona Vaughan on May 25, 2012 at 5:15 pm
    • I didn't audition. I know the show is a joke and a fraud. Not everyone can take off three months from their real life, to participate in a pretend "reality" show, that has a predetermined winner, chosen in advance of the show being videoed.

    • That's exactly what happened or he is 800 lbs and confined to is house…eating writing cruel comments!
So sad how sour some people are. Erikcreature you are pathetic.

    • Erikcreature wrote mean comments last year, too!

  3. erikcreature it IS a produced television show but it is very much reality. Even if it's just the having to work on projects with limited resources and with people you have never met ( and would never CHOOSE to work with), the way the designers get through that IS very much reality. And it's not 3 months its 8 weeks. I DID take off 8 weeks to be part of the show and 11 designers on my season. were prepared to do the same. We were told that they were with in their rights to keep us through the duration of filming so we didn't know when we would be returning regardless of elimination order. When you run your own business you can usually find a way to do that. It's a giant pain but not impossible. "Most" of the contestants do have their own businesses ( not speaking if this season specifically). If you have a dream you will do whatever you have to do to follow that dream and for them its making the arrangements to be there. Leave your family, quit your job….whatever. There is a tremendous amount of sacrifice with no promise of gain but it's worth it. Give them a chance. Even if you don't like their work you could give them a little credit for what they had to go through to be there. THere is no way possible to tell you ( or anyone else) that has not been part of the show just how difficult it is. We were forced to produce designs ( and defend them) that we would NEVER leave in a clients home in the real world. You will never reality know the limitations they have because all that is left out of production. Will there be some bad ones, no doubt but that is what makes it interesting. A lot of REALLY good designers jsut can't work under pressure, with others or with limited resources. Doesn't make them bad designers just not the BEST designer of the season. If you look at the show as…."which designers can think on their feet, adapt to tough situations and do a lot with a little" you may see it in a different light. Take it for what it is. It's a competition to try to impress viewers with incredible designs. It's not pinterest or Color Splash where there is a whole team of people working to help them look good on camera. It's the one show on HGTV where the network doesn't TRY to make the designers look good. They have to do that on their own. Surely you know that designers like Candice, David and Genevieve don't fly solo when working and they have more than 30 minutes to devise a plan. THere will NEVER be a season of design star when a Designer flies through looking as polished as the rest of the hosts on the network. Just hate that the first episode has not even aired and you have already started with the negativity. I know you could couldn't care less about my feedback because you probably enjoy bashing them. Gives you something to look forward too after every episode. Hate that for you…. : /

  5. You are right on target. Our daughter made arrangements for someone to take care of her design firm, local shop and family stepped up to help with the kids and pets. We respect and admire the effort she went through to be on the show. Mr. Erikcreature hasn't done his homework. Google any one of the contestants and you will see examples of their work. Baffles the mind how some people will enjoy tearing a good thing down.

  7. Come now, erickcreature is driving me insane with his preposterous acusations as well but Martin Luther King Jr. said it best with, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

Riley on May 29, 2012 at 10:58 am
  8. Totally agree. It is about sacrifice for what you want. Besides it is shorter and less demanding than Marine Boot Camp (13 weeks).

  9. don't watch

  10. I Love DesignStar and watch every episode, but I would be extremely upset if that was my house and came back after they were thru filming and saw what they did. I did not see sny room that looked like it was completely put together by a professional designer. This was the first time that I could not say one good thing about the designers. I sure hope they improve within the next few episodes, because for me I hated every room.
