  1. i remember the first show, danielle and luca were given the large open foyer/living room to design. while i was wondering what color(s) i might use, danielle painted the room a great shade of gray, complimented by white frames and crown molding (i think). it was just right, not too much. and i love britneys style and color sense. too bad this year didn't end in a tie…

  2. It would be a great show to have all the contestants, minus the winner, come back. Shuffle the deck and watch what would happen with all new partners after all the best tricks have been used. What would they do then? What an extreem drain on their creativity.. Give them a "black room", a cave, a rundown business reception area, govt. offfice buiding, public recreation area, school building for the ultimate design challenge.

  3. Since when does HGTV have to subject itself to affirmative action? I don't see a representation of Hispanics either even though we represent almost 17% of the country, but I don't use that as a barometer of design talent. Hilari has a lively personality, but her design talents were not on par with the others. Her white room challenge alone was a disaster. I think she went as far as she did due to her persona, she added a bit of attitude, more than her abilities and perhaps she'd do well with a show alongside Mikel who actually did have good taste. Another version of Sarah and Tommy. I think that would be an interesting dynamic and would be much more compelling than the past three winners–great rooms that aren't great; stylist tips that are tedious and overwrought; and a big personality with little practicality.

    • I think Sabrina Soto might be Hispanic.

    • Affirmative Action has nothing to do with it! People of color who are greater than 10 percent of the population have a say in "Design". there is no bottom line credential for being a HGTV "Design Star" – Others gender types and personalities are represented just ask David Bromstad why not people of color?? Why is it that when there is more than two people of color vying for something someone yells Affirmative Action and the majority comes running – GEESE there has to be at least some color in the HGTV window dressing – look at the food network every other show is about italian cooking an "over representation" or "a safe bet" or "what the public demands"? thenumber of shows speak for themselves and yes Sabrina Soto is Latina – like Jessica Alba (and mariah Carey ) how could she be anything else – "Designed by Color" why not, why not today why not now??

  4. Wait, Danielle's not black? besides that they got it right with the final two! from episode 1 i picked these two because they were the two that would be watched on a weekly show. isn't that is the point of the show ? Just think about it, how many viewers would have continued to watch design star if either of these two had been voted off earlier? they are the two contestants that are driving the competition.

  5. African-Americans consist of 12 percent of the U.S. population. Therefore, if 1 out of 10 Design Star winners fall into this group, they are being fairly represented. Kym Miles, if looking totally statistically has fulfilled the requirement for the next 10 years or so. Furthermore, three out of four of the top 4 this year are people of color. I don't like it is fair to say that HGTV is discriminating. However, I do miss Tameka; she brought energy–and beauty– to Design Star. Bring her back!

  6. I want to see Hillary and Danielle have a show together. They are both adorable and would make a fun show to watch.

  7. :It was amazing since the first season this one was the best, good choice Judges. Since the first day i like Danielle, she is warm, sweet and very real. All the contestant from this season were so good that i wish we have a rebound of all of them. Britany is a tasty designer but a little cold too much into herself. Hilary and Danielle together will be a bomb, Im so happy that i cry. All of us won with Danielle.

  8. I think that since the first Design Star this one was the second best, the designers were great the judges were so good in their selections. I mean the contestant were so good that it should be a rebound of the third places. I'm so happy of Danielle winning that i was crying, Since the first show i like Danelle and i want her to win, she is warm, unselfish, real, and i feel her in every design even if the design wasn't the best, Britany is a tasty designer, but she missing something as person, she was cold and to much into herself. Hilary and Danielle together the bomb. Good job judges, i will be waiting for Danielle's new shoe. I hope i can see the same judges next season with David of course.
