Here’s what David had to say from the set:

What did you think of the premiere? Whose design deserved to win? Did the right person go home? Weigh in in the comments below.

  1. Just for not listening Kellie deserved to go home, but really, her room didn't look professional at all. I mean seriously, folding the pages of old books and then screwing them up on the walls as art when you have what sounded like an almost unlimited budget to shop in exclusive stores? I also didn't understand what she was trying to do with her comments to Hilary. She managed to ruin her image of being sweet, just like that. I think there is a tendency for people to underestimate Hilary's talent because she is so naturally adorable. But watch out, she has surpisingly good instincts and is not afraid to trust them. Right now I predict Dan and Hillary as the final two, but it's still early and things might change. I can't wait to see the competition unfold.

    • I agree about Kellie's book sculptures, it hurt my heart to see books destroyed in this way and I thought they looked cheap and crafty. I was surprised Genevieve liked them. (Although Genevieve seemed a little nicer than usual didn't she? Still came across as insincere, but hey she's trying. She is such a beautiful woman, she needs a new stylist. Her current one is dressing her poorly. Although I do love that she wears heals even though she is tall. Sorry, I digress).

  2. I agree Dan and Hilary as final 2. I also agree Antonio was rightful winner of his season – please bring back his show. I would have loved to see Matt Locke from season 3 (he should have won- especially since the winner never got her own show).

    • The winner did have an online show (available on the website), called Paint Over. She's adorable, but the show is not very good. Matt was clearly robbed.

  3. Dan's cut out design had an apple at the top which I took as a reference back to the "Deconstructed Apple Orchard" theme of his original white room. Of all the white room challenges of past seasons, that one of Dan's and David's from season 1 are my personal favorites.

  4. Congrats to the design all stars; it was fun to see these people again. Hilari, I really like, except that yellowish green color wouldn't be my color choice, everything else was top notch. Dan, as always brought his creative touch with the bookcase, beautiful. Tom's library was relaxing & appealing. Leslie's room was very sophisticated. Josh's room was very sparkly, loved the dog. Kellie was trying too hard to impress, the book art was a creative way to recycle old books. Good luck to all next time.

  5. Leslie is my favorite. She brings class and good taste to the show. Kelly was over confident and didn't follow instructions.

  6. Sparkle Josh belongs on a satire show of Design Star! Get a haircut, he looks sloppy in his appearance and in his work. His is too much bling and no substance. I think David had the most creative design and Hilari is so much more comfortable with the camera and show. I think she should have been second in last season. Danielle's yurt was awful, with that big bed dominating the room and Hilari's bed was great decor. Please stop with the guest star on the panel. We do not tune in to watch "Judge Stars". The guest judge does not know the trajectory of the designers, or their behavior. It really skews the show, as it did last season. And if they are not professional designers, they are not qualified to give professional design opinions. If it aint broken, don't fix it!!

  7. I love Dan. I believe that he was robbed. I hated Antonio's show. I could never watch an entire episode and I tried really hard to. However, I love Hilari too. I think that Dan should win, but Hilari is a close second. I loved his white box challenge too from his season. I thought that is was the best that has ever been done.

  8. what I like about hilary decorating is that renters can decorate as well as homeowners from her ideas. A renter cannot knock out walls and suddenly start building on someone else property. Thats why i think she has a good chance of winning.

  9. I think Sparkle Josh and Hillari are adorable; I'm rooting for both. Tom's work was fantastic–I thought his was the winning room. Kellie impressed me not at all; she deserved to go home first.

  10. Sparkle Josh makes this worth watching and although some may not get his design style it is very much sought after in certain areas /cities throughout the country. He adds a fun twist to an otherwise tired and worn show with judges that have outlived their lifespans in my opinion. You have Vern with his constant variation of Pan Asain style, then you have Ms. Gorder where everything she does looks like the one ywo shows prior.
The best part about Ms. Gorder is that she contradicts herself from show to show about what the design standards are…..The fact that Design Star is so politically run is a joke, they predetermine the winners in advance so it really doesn't matter what the viewers really think.
