Peek Inside the Contestants’ Notebooks – Episode 203

Last week, we gave you the first look inside the contestants’ personal notebooks. Ready for another look? This week, see early sketches of rival kitchens. Plus: Contestants react to the challenge and the daunting double elimination.

Brother Vs. Brother - Inside the Contestants' Notebooks

Team Jonathan suffered an early loss when their squad missed the first house-related trivia question. Since Team Drew got to choose which property they remodeled, Team Jonathan got stuck with run-down house 1. Peggy wasn’t any too happy about that:

The team decides to focus on just two areas of the home: The outdated kitchen and the run-down bathroom.  Adi and Rick took on the bathroom project, while Peggy and Stayce tackled the kitchen. Here’s one of their early sketches of the space:

Over on Team Drew, the second house has some problems of its own. After jockeying with Six for ownership of the upstairs bathroom remodel, Thomas learns that he doesn’t have the budget to move the plumbing, which thwarts his plan to add a shower/tub combo. Frustrated, he starts his space plan from scratch:

Interior designer Melissa took on one of Team Drew’s biggest projects, the kitchen. Or, as she liked to call it “the money pit.”! Here, she plans the room’s “big moments” and jots down a shopping and to-do list.

Before elimination, Stayce wonders, “Was our remodel enough?” Her thoughts:

In the end, Team Jonathan reined victorious and Team Drew sent two team members, Six and Thomas, to the curb. Come back tomorrow for before-and-after photos of each space.

What did you think? Did the right team win? Did Six and Thomas deserve to go home? Tell us in the comments below.

  1. I couldn't believe who Drew 86'd Six! I trust Drew's opinion, so after thinking on this awhile, I can appreciate his choice. Six didn't speak up, and was more timid. Still, I liked her dining room much better than Eric, Melissa or Thomas's rooms, especially the color choices made! Six was open to Drew's counsel, too, listening to his advice on what to do. The others did not hear Drew about staying away from the wall color choices they made in this episode and a previous episode. I absolutely thought the color choices awful. It will be interesting to see how they do going forward.

  3. Can you tell me the brand of cabinets in Team Jonathon's kitchen? For $3,900 they look fantastic!

  4. I really enjoy the show, and hope it continues. I really look forward to it. I watched Episode 3 again this afternoon.

  5. Drew should have dumped Eric instead of Six!! It's just as much his fault that the upstairs bathroom didn't get a shower – he was in charge of the budget and should have found $$ for the all important upstairs shower. Hilary said Eric's color palette in the downstairs bath was a "dogs dinner" and that Six's room was fantastic. First impressions add value to a home and Six's transformation of the dining room was top notch. I think Melissa threw Six under the bus b/c she saw her as a threat. Drew should have picked up on all of that. He'll lose b/c he sent the most talented person on his team home.

    • I couldn't agree more, Barbara! He thinks he knows everything, better than the brothers, and if he was in my place, he wouldn't be there long.
