Peek Inside the Contestants’ Notebooks – Episode 204

Another week, another set of revealing behind-the-scenes looks into the contestants’ private notebooks. This week, Team Jonathan was delivered a curve ball when the hosts agreed to send a even out the teams by sending someone to Drew’s squad. Team Drew chose Rick, leaving it an even three on three.

Eager to find a place on Team Drew, Rick took on the budget for this challenge, as well as the colonial home’s guest bedroom. You can see his initial spending breakdowns, below:

Having conquered a kitchen, living room and master suite, Melissa took on the home’s horribly dated master bathroom. Here, she sketches out her design plan:

Perennial bathroom fixer Eric decided to transform the home’s master bedroom into a glamorous, Old Hollywood-style space. Here’s the sketch that started it all:

Over on Team Jonathan, the unexpected loss of a teammate left them all reeling. Another (literal) blow? Adi was injured while removing the (ugly green) carpet in the home’s master bathroom.

On the mend, he realized that Team Drew regards him as a tough competitor:

  1. Rick took on the budget for Team Drew's Episode 4 renovation and did a fine job — but how'd he do with his guest bedroom remodel? Well, there were some really tense moments while the teams waited for HGTV's 'Flip or Flop' hosts Tarek and Christina to deliver the final value-added numbers.

    • I agree, it was interesting to see how Rick fit in on Team Drew, which is to say, not very well. Curious to see how it stacks up for the next episode!

  2. I think Rick did an okay job as far as fitting into the team. I am not sure if anyone else would have 'fit' better. It's always difficult to suddenly be placed on a different team in these competitions. In fact, I think he did a great job — not rocking the boat, being accommodating, etc. They in fact won the challenge. Personally, Eric really bothers me because he does not listen to the experts, or his team mates, and makes makes terrible choices. As it was aptly stated on last Sunday's episode "Over Designs". Time will tell if he becomes open to suggestions. :)

    • Hi Rebbie, I just thought he was almost too accommodating, to the point of not showcasing his impressive skill set. And with two strong personalities (Eric and Melissa) I think it could be difficult for someone who tends to be accommodating. Definitely anxious to see how it all shakes out! Thanks for your comment.

      • Yep, thanks. We'll see how everyone does next Sunday!
