If you happen to be a country music fan like me, then you probably get super excited around this time of year.  June is almost here, and that can only mean one thing…CMA Music Festival 2015!  And since HGTV is headquartered right here in East Tennessee, it’s only a hop, skip, and a jump to Nashville.

If you have plans to attend the event this year, swing by the HGTV Lodge and say hi to Scripps Networks talent Alison Victoria, David Bromstad, Nan Kelley, and Suzanne Alexander.

Guests can catch over 20 live performances and attend meet and greets with some of the biggest names in country music, including Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Josh Turner and Kip Moore (check out the full schedule here). With only 300 attendees during each show, air conditioning and a mobile device charging station, The Lodge is the perfect place to relax and unwind in the middle of the city. For admission to The Lodge, fans can register for free tickets starting May 28 at CMAFest.com.

For more information about the HGTV Lodge and CMA Fest 2015, visit HGTV On the Road and follow HGTV on Instagram and Twitter for daily updates and exclusive content during the festival.

Fixer Upper episodes are kind of like potato chips…you can’t stop at just one (I’m sure Chip would love that analogy).

That’s why we asked our viewers to vote for their top picks.  And this weekend we’re counting them down!

Join us Saturday starting 1pm|12c for Fixer Upper Fan Day, as we play your favorite makeovers from season two.

And to add to the fun, Chip and Jo will host a Twitter Party during the most popular episode, which airs 7pm|6c. For a chance to chat with them live, just take to Twitter and use #FixerUpper to join.  And if we really like your tweet, we might just show it on TV during the episode.

Here’s a sneak peek at the Fixer Upper goodness coming this Saturday:

In case you’ve lost count, I’m proud to share that HGTV recently celebrated 20 years of being on the air.  And it’s no exaggeration to say this ‘home’ was literally built from the ground up, by a handful of people with an incredible vision.  One of those HGTV pioneers was Susan Packard.  Susan was the second person hired at HGTV, after founder Ken Lowe.  A co-founder of the network, Susan left an influential mark on HGTV’s history and a legacy of excellence in the cable programming industry.

Now Susan brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to a brand new publication, New Rules of the Game: 10 Strategies for Women in the Workplace.  A DIY guide of sorts, New Rules sets forth a series of principles that women in any business environment can apply to their own career paths.

Susan recently took a break from a promotional tour to chat with me about the book (plus I had the priviledge of getting a sneak peek before it hit stands). In New Rules of the Game, Susan compares the workplace to team sports:

“You get a sense that the workplace is much larger than just you and your boss. If you see it as men typically do-a big playing field- you see at times you’re collaborating and other times you’re competing. There are a lot of people that can impact your career, not just your boss.”

New Rules of the Game is rich with stories from Susan’s life and that of 10 other executives she’s interviewed, including Ken Lowe and another co-founder, Frank Gardner. The book provides tips to create better self-awareness and perception, form your fan club, rediscover passions, and build a game plan to succeed. Plus, Susan suggests simple ways to deal with the higher standards that women are often held to (yes, meditation can help you keep your game face on).

And if you’d like to know what it was like to work here in the early days, Susan has included some great inspirational stories from her many years spent helping grow HGTV into a top ten cable network.

But don’t take my word for it, add New Rules of the Game to your reading list now. Whether you’re trying to learn more about how to navigate work and life, or curious to see how one woman helped hit it out the ballpark with the launch of the first (and best) home lifestyle cable channel, you’ll want to get your hands on this book.

New Rules of the Game is on bookstands now, or you can purchase it here.  Susan can also be found at www.susanpackard.com.

Summer is the season at HGTV that we spend most of our time showcasing beautiful outdoor spaces.  But some rooms inside the home tend to hold our attention all year long.  Kitchens and baths are always the two most talked about spaces on our websites and social media pages.  Viewers are either dreaming of a brand new kitchen or bath, planning a new project, or finishing a renovation.  Kitchens and baths are just a hot topic any time of the year.

That’s why we thought it would be fun to get together with the Scripps Networks’ family of brands and host a Kitchen & Bath Hour all month long. Tuesdays (8/7c) in July, you can find HGTV, DIYNetwork, HGTVRemodels, and HGTV Frontdoor sharing our most inspiring kitchen and bath designs, clever storage tips, and money-saving project ideas.

And it’s all happening at our favorite social media destination, Pinterest.  It’s super easy to join us.  Just log on to Pinterest Tuesday evenings and click on the special board, where we will be hosting the event.  Then just wait for the “pin-spiration”…we’ll be there with you pinning LIVE.

Never joined a pin party?  Get all the details on what they’re about right here.

So, whether you’re dreaming or doing, you don’t want to miss our Kitchen & Bath Hour, Tuesdays at 8p/7c.  See you on Pinterest!

And in the meantime, set the mood with these beautiful kitchens and baths.

Important Alert: We love and value our HGTV fans, so it’s important that we let you know that there are unsavory scammers out there who want to take advantage of your love for us!

We don’t want you to be a victim of fraud. Please beware of any communication that you receive purporting to be from HGTV, particularly any “official looking letters” or random phone calls that request that you divulge personal financial information such as your social security, bank account, and credit card numbers — or asks you to purchase anything, including pre-paid credit cards.

If you believe that a network representative truly did reach out to you and you want to confirm the specific information you received, send us your name and either scan the letter or forward the email with the information you received to us at castingverification@scrippsnetworks.com. (No other inquiries or solicitations will be addressed via this email account.)

One of the many wonderful things about working at HGTV is being around folks who love to help their community and give back to others.  That’s especially apparent with our talented designers and renovation experts.

If you follow John Colaneri and Anthony Carrino from HGTV’s Cousins Undercover, you’ve probably noticed them out everywhere across the country helping homeowners in need.  That’s not only the premise of their show; it’s what they love to do!

One really exciting project they’ve been working on with The Ellen Show just saw its amazing completion this week.  Yesterday the guys revealed a brand new, completely furnished home for Ellen viewer, Susie Conway and her family.

If you didn’t catch the show, watch a clip here.

Not only was this a storybook happy ending for this incredible family, that new home was nothing short of fabulous!  And we have to brag for just a second…the entire space was designed with products from the HGTV HOME line of interior and outdoor furniture, paint, wallpaper and lighting.

Here are a few of my favorite rooms:

The Conways’ new dining room. Susie wanted to include the saying ‘Be kind to one another’ to keep Ellen’s spirit of generosity alive in their home.

Clean, bright, and offering plenty of storage, the Conways’ new kitchen is a perfect place for cooking meals together and entertaining family and friends.

The new family room focuses on family first – perfect for a tight-knit crew like the Conways!

See a look you love?  You can bring it home!  Discover more designs and find product details over on our special Pinterest board.

As a proud, card-carrying mama’s boy, I’m “mushy” about Mom 365 days a year. But this weekend is Mother’s Day and we men get a “free pass” to be extra sentimental about the special women in our lives.

Probably the most wonderful thing about this weekend is that we celebrate Mom in all walks of life…from the mom who’s just starting out to our moms that are now grandmas and great grandmas…and everyone else in between, even mommy-to-be!

Depending on the timeline in your career as mom, you may be spending the weekend planning, designing, or furnishing your first nursery to make room for baby.

If you’re in that group, consider HGTV HOME your nursery central.  Whether you love traditional, modern or in between, HGTV HOME has just released two collections of Nursery furniture to fit your style – at an affordable price.

The HGTV HOME Baby collections were designed to grow with your child and family. For instance, I’m loving the Grayson “4-in-1″ crib–it switches from crib to toddler to daybed to full size bed.  And the Hayden crib converts to a pair of twin headboards.  These pieces just make for a very smart (and stylish) long term investment.
