It looks like an HGTV Dream Home with a mountain view is always a fan favorite. And there are lots of calls for the mountains or lakes of the Volunteer State, or just across the border in North Carolina.
"If you've ever experienced 'Rocky Top,' you would understand why Tennessee is where the next Dream Home should be. The vistas are similar to Colorado, yet mysteriously different."
"I think it will be near La Follette, Tenn., on Norris Lake. If my guess is right it would be my dream location."
"I think it should be in Tennessee around the Smoky Mountains. We have lots of lakes around here to fish."
"I think the next dream home will be in Gatlinburg, Tenn."
"My favorite view is of the mountains, I only hope it can be somewhere in the North Carolina mountains."
We've already said the next HGTV Dream Home isn't being built in Chattanooga, but I'll go ahead and extend that and say it's not going to be anywhere in Tennessee. As for North Carolina, we were just there with the 10th anniversary HGTV Dream Home in Lake Lure. Beautiful place, great house, wonderful location, but we're not going back to the mountains of North Carolina for 2008.
Still to come this week, a special video postcard from HGTV house planner Jack Thomasson!

It must be Moose Lake, Minnesota!

Ah ha! Well, at least we've narrowed it down and now I have to say that I am still feeling that the beautiful towns of Harbor Springs/Petoskey, Michigan hold the key! Beautiful hills (no mountains, but still great skiing), Fishing on Lake MI or the many nearby pristine lakes, all the wildlife one could ask for....Yep, this is it! Sign me up!
Posted by Mike Wheeler – February 28, 2007 4:40 PM
I still say it is in Texas. The Lone Star State. There are several places in Texas that have streets with the name Moose Head and they are all in east Texas, and one is increadibly near a Lake. I say it's gonna be a log cabin type also. Look on the window ledge near the moose head.
Posted by Alison – February 28, 2007 4:42 PM
Beautiful Park city, Utah!!!
Great place to ski, fish, hike, boating and shop.
And the views are wonderful.
Posted by Lory – February 28, 2007 4:44 PM
Kansas; fishing, there is great fishing in the lakes located in western Kansas; bunkhouse, cowboys still ride the ranges located in the plains area of the state; its not the moosehead but the buffalo head, as in the "where the buffalo roam"; all of these clues still lead me back to Kansas. Lake Wilson in particular has some fabulous "cabins" located on the bluffs overlooking the lake. The 2008 dream home would fit right in.
Posted by Chudie – February 28, 2007 4:58 PM
Cool! I ain't looking on Rocky Top. My guess are: ALASKA, FLORIDA, or SAN FRANCISCO, CA. I will narrow down to one guess when I see the video postcard from Jack T.
Until then, I'll enjoy watching Do It Yourself @ HGTV whenever I get the chance. I hope you all are tuning in. This is where you'll find good looking contractor hosts working without saying bad words. They all enjoy what they're doing, helping people make their place looks nicer. Great shows HGTV! I never thought I'd become a fan. I thought the show is for men only. But I find the shows helpful and inspiring. ;-)
Love and Peace,

I think that Big Canoe, Georgia would be a wonderful mountain community to build a future Dream home. We already have many dream homes in this community.

How many states have we now eliminated?
Posted by Greg – February 28, 2007 5:14 PM
Please be Michigan
Posted by Karen – February 28, 2007 5:17 PM
About 8 states eliminated thus far. No mentions of Michigan. I am still betting on the Great Lakes State. Northern Michigan coastline.
Posted by gm – February 28, 2007 5:19 PM
Near Orange Beach, Alabama, Bear Point on Wolf Bay has the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen. Add to that the bay's flora and fauna (birds, dolphins and fishing experiences) and the good life is apparent. Sit back with some sweet tea and enjoy the view. Sandi, Iowa

I am thinking lake views, so I guess Lake Placid in New York or on one of the Great Lakes!
Posted by karen reichenbach – February 28, 2007 5:23 PM
Dear HGTV, I live in a small town( Shasta Lake) in rural Northern California. There are mountains with incredible views (facing north) towards Mount Shasta. It is 14,000+ feet tall. You see it for about at least 50 miles. Right now it is covered with snow. Please contact me if you come up to look. I know we're in California but northern California is nothing like the rest of the state.
Redding is about 10 miles south and the town of Mt Shasta is about 50 miles north. Also there is Shasta Lake with 365 miles of shore. They call the view the Three Shasta's. The dam(second largest concrete dam) the lake and Mt. Shasta. It's tremendous!

I'm not sure if there are any clues in the Lake Lure home. I think it will be Alaska, Kansas, or Lake Tahoe. Waiting for the video postcard!!!!!!!!! I would like it to be in Alaska. Maybe near Blue Lake! Great views and wide open space!
Posted by Lou – February 28, 2007 5:37 PM
How about a beautiful desert home in Nevada?
Posted by Rachael – February 28, 2007 5:38 PM
What about Georgia???
Posted by Meg – February 28, 2007 5:38 PM
Today, I'm sticking with Idaho.
HOWEVER, let me say Kansas was my starting point which led me further west, then northwest, then a bit east of there. If by chance, we are supposed to be hunting for the next DH location within the state of Kansas, I would guess Elk City, Kansas. Kinda reminds me of the Lewis and Clark expedition. :)
Posted by Devin – February 28, 2007 5:38 PM
Big. Sky. Country. Montana!
Posted by Sheryl – February 28, 2007 5:51 PM
I think it will be in Alaska. There is flightseeing, gold panning, fishing, river rafting, bird-watching, kayaking, bear viewing, camping, and they have the Aurora borealis, or the beautiful Northern Lights! You can watch dog-mushing(Alaska's state sport) and you can go on ecotours. I found all of that info on http://www.alaska.com/. http://www.alaska.com/ has pictures of the Northern Lights. I think it can also be near Lake Tahoe. Maybe near Emrald Bay or Zephyr Cove.
Posted by Sandy – February 28, 2007 5:56 PM
Must be Michigan!
Now I just need to find a moose on the
west coast of MI :)
Posted by Linda – February 28, 2007 5:58 PM
I think it would be great to have it somewhere in the ozarks in missouri,we have lakes and a beautiful area to look over the hills and the water.thanks
Posted by karen williams – February 28, 2007 6:01 PM
My rational side still thinks that the clues are pointing to either San Juan Island in Washington, or to a nice lake somewhere in Kansas. My heart, however, is dreaming of Montana!!!
Posted by antique340 – February 28, 2007 6:38 PM
I'm sticking with MICHIGAN or KANSAS... just where, I don't know ... but I do know my atlas is getting creased on those two states as I continue to look for county names, city names, lake and/or mountain names that would give me ideas. I'll be up early "fcole", looking for the next clue ;-) and am especially anxious for Jack's video... BRING IT ON!

Some of you are thinking Michigan. Here are some FYI's on the Great Lakes State.
FYI-Michigan
MIchigan's animal: WOLVERINE
Michigan's flower: APPLE BLOSSOM. I read once that someone saw apples in different places on the TV show(?) or tour(?). I forget which one.
Michigan's tree:WHITE PINE
Michigan's bird:AMERICAN ROBIN
Michigan's MAjor League Sports Teams: THE DETROIT LIONS, DETROIT PISTONS, DETROIT RED WINGS, and DETRIOT TIGERS.
OSme of you are also wondering if its in Montana. Here are some facts on Montana.
FYI-Montana
Montana's animal:GRIZZLY BEAR
Montana's flower:BITTERROOT
Montana's tree:PANDEROSA PINE
Montana's bird: WESTERN MEADOWLARK
Motana's grass: BLUEBUNCH WHEATGRASS
Just if you wanted to know: MONTANA IS ONE OF THE FEW US STATES THAT DOESN'T HAVE A MAJOR LEAGUE SPORTS TEAM.
Well that's enough for now. Maybe I'll check in again with more ideas and FYI's. I still think it will be in Alaska, Lake Tahoe, and maybe Kansas. Alaska has many lakes and is mountainous and coastal. DON'T GIVE UP ON ALASKA!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Lou – February 28, 2007 6:45 PM
It is Kansas of course somewhere in West.
My second choice is MONTANA!
Posted by Cassandra – February 28, 2007 6:46 PM
What's wrong with Arkansas? I would like to see it in Northwest Arkansas, a real popular spot right now. Beautiful lakes ,good fishing, some of the most beautiful mountains you'll ever see.

Although we hate to give away the secret spots of the Ozark Mountains, the area in and around Branson, Missouri would be prime! Lake activity at the Lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock Lake both add endless summer fun, and the full, four season of the Missouri southwest offer a little bit of somthing for everyone. Branson, the Myrtle Beach of the Midwest!
Posted by Debbie – February 28, 2007 7:06 PM
What about Vermont you cant beat the beautiful fall foliage followd by terrific skiing. Stowe vermont ? Maybe? Ok, Ok Im biased I grew up there and always wanted to move back but it truly is a beautful breathtaking state !!!
Posted by christina – February 28, 2007 7:17 PM
One clue many overlooked are the times (3) shows up. three brightly lit candles, three legs to each lamp,....my guess is in the corner of the state where two other states also touch. My vote is for Missouri. Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri all get snow, have hunting, all border the coastal waters of the Mississippi River.
northeast Missouri???

Is it possibly going to be near Moose Head lake in Maine? I searched Moosehead Lake and thats what i came up with...

We think three is important. Moose, Walleye, Kansas. "heart of the house"....Heartland?
More to think about.

Well, that's funny. I too live in N. California, like nfarr, she lives south of me. That would be a beautiful area to put a dream home, i know from personal experience. I live near oregon, up by yreka. small world. haha. anyways, as much as i would like to see it near here, that would be so cool, i think it will be kansas, montana or it would be cool to be near tahoe too. Well, can't wait for the video postcard, so, we'll see. have a great day dreaming everyone!
Posted by Kelli Sorenson – February 28, 2007 7:34 PM
It has to be in the South, or at least east of the Mississippi. Somewhere in northern Alabama on the Tennessee River would be nice.
It would also be nice if HGTV would post the weekly winners of the doghouse WEEKLY during the contest.

Wherever the next Dream Home is built, it will be as breathtaking as the one in Winter's Park.
I'm praying that I win the Dream Home in Winter's Park. That would be the ultimate dream for me. To own my own home! I would invite my mother and my sister that is ill to move in with me. It has been one of my dreams since I was young girl, to live in Colorado.
If I don't win the home in Winter's Park, oh well, there will be next year. Good luck to all that entered.

"Bullwinkle-esque moose"
"Don't Look on Rocky Top"
Rocky & Bullwinkle live in Frost-bite Falls, Minnesota which is a parody of International Falls Minnesota, both are in the same county Koochiching (Info is gleaned from Wikipedia) .
"Mountaineers say the best of everything can be found in the state".
"will have a room (or two) with a fantastic view, like the Winter Park home, but with a different perspective".
....Minnesota: AKA: Land of 10,000 Lakes ....
......Maybe I am reaching but I thing we are dealing with the wonderful state of Minnesota. Now I have never been there, but I will be happy to move in next year....What do you all think?
Posted by Lisa Coughlin – February 28, 2007 8:07 PM
It's definitely Kansas.
First it's on the Scrabble board.
Behind the scrabble board, the Kansas state flower: sunflowers. Above the stuffed moose, the Kansas state animal: American buffalo. In the second blog entry, "Your guesses ... have literally ranged far and wide", Kansas state song, "Home on the Range"
It's obviously on a lake (fishing clue). I'm still working on that one...
Posted by Carl M – February 28, 2007 8:12 PM
It's in New York...the Adirondack's, right? I know it's beautiful up there. I'd be willing to live in a house there if you gave it to me. I'd also be willing to live in the Winter Park house and I'm holding my breath until March 18.

Northern Michigan-world class golfing, excellent fishing on the Great Lakes and inland lakes and rivers, excellent variety of skiing options, boating, hiking, biking, hunting. The fauna in Michigan is uncomparable. Michigan is the place.

Hmmm, California? Too many natural disasters. It seems like the Western half of our country is due for a dream home. Maybe Idaho? or even Washington State, perhaps. I wonder......
Posted by Tia V. – February 28, 2007 8:24 PM
Lookout Mountain, even though entered from Chattanooga, is technically not Tennessee - it's Georgia. How about a new development called Canyon Ridge on Lookout Mountain? Great views, on a golf course, and close to the Tennessee river and 3 lakes.

different perspective--flat land--no mountains
not a lake but a river
Kansas-state flower- sunflower
When you think of moose you think of a state like Montana--why not in Montana, Kansas? or in Beloit, Kansas where the online magazine "Eye on Kansas" is located. Or at the base of Mt. Sunflower on the western state line?

I hope that it's in Alaska. There are so many beautiful places that the dream home could be built at. I read an article where some guy described Alaska. He said, " God wasn't tired when he made Alaska." That Alaska is absolutely beautiful. Summers are so fun with daylight all night long. In the winter, you can see the northern lights. There are beautiful mountains, rivers, lakes & so much more.

I am just wondering if it might be in Oregon in the Meacham Divide area. There is a ski trail system includes a run called the "Kansas". One of the steepest of the first 2.5 miles of trails is a "heart stopper" called the "Moose Huff Hill". I must assume that the fishing at Anthony Lakes would be fresh water fishing...

ALASKA is my vote! We have a lot of beautiful mountains, lakes, coastline and yes, salmon, it IS what is for dinner, or perhaps, just for the halibut! I would love to take you scouting for locations!

No mountains of NC --how about The Village @ Flowers Plantation in the triangle of NC nice lots on Murphy or Buffalo streets.
or different perspective is located in Orlando--
Nona Lake is fabulous--
But Queechee Lake VT is still my pick along with A boathouse on Rainy Lake in MN.

I would say with all the clues so far I am going with Alaska, but that just seems wrong. It just seems like it would be to extreme. Montana is my back up guess.

How about OREGON? The only reason I picked this one is because on the kitchen fan it has the first 2 letters are either OR for oregon or DR for Dry.

I have to agree with Karen on Lake Placid, they had the winter games, mountain views, lakes for fishing. HGTV has already built in Texas, Florida, N. Carolina, and Georgia. So I'm thinking that they will not build in those places again. Where ever they build it, it will be spectacular.

I havn't seen my post so going to repeat my thought. I believe it is possibly Arkansas because on scrabble board the word kansas can be played with an A-R for arkansas not ruling it out just yet. Also, there is Hot Springs lots of lakes and very good fly fishing and I am pretty sure I seen a fly rod in the garage.
Posted by Linda – March 1, 2007 8:59 AM
It should be in the beautiful "Show Me State" of Missouri...
Posted by Cheryl – March 1, 2007 9:01 AM
I believe the house will be located in Moose Creek township in Minnesota. Moose tend to live in cold climates, Minnesota is known as the North Star state.(like the star in the garage.)It has great scenic byways, fishing, trails, snowmobiling, golf and canoeing just to name a few. But I'm confused! I also think Kansas could be the place. The sunflower state. On the scrabble board it said the word eye. Is that eye of a storm? Like tornadoes perhaps!? I dont know!!!! Minnesota's my guess.
Posted by Sue – March 1, 2007 9:13 AM
So, it is in Tennessee...as that is the nickname, the volunteer state...Great Smoky Mts? Great!!
Posted by Peg – March 1, 2007 9:14 AM
Well I'm going by the clues they have put out so far and on the Scrabble board it said Kansas... The most recent clue I asume is in the bunk room and taking a look at the Moose head like they said I see a Buffalo head above it. A quick search shows there is a Buffalo, Kansas with several state parks nearby (one specific in Buffalo called Wilson County State Park) for plenty of fishing and other outdoor activities. So I'm thinking the new dream home for 2008 is in or near Buffalo, Kansas.
Posted by Angel Miette – March 1, 2007 9:20 AM
The next Dream Home should be in beautiful Vermont, the Green Mountain state. Northern Vermont offers great skiing, fishing, and easy access to Montreal and Quebec, Canada. Seems to fit all the clues so far.
Posted by Micheline Pelletier – March 1, 2007 9:28 AM
My vote is still Moose Pass, Alaska
Posted by Pat Doherty – March 1, 2007 9:42 AM
Hi Carolyn, we have to watch the announcement of the 2007 Dream Home winner on HGTV on March 18. I think we will find out the full details by watching HGTV live.. You'll find the time schedule of airing on the Home page. HGTV channel is 203 here in Northern CA. At least, if we don't win the house, we can still win big BUCKS$$$$! And as long as they keep building and giving away houses, we will always have hope to win. I just hope I will be able to win while I am still young (er) and not when I am old and gray and close to my grave.
Keep dreaming and keep hoping!!! Life without hopes and dreams are hopeless, and depressing. Dreams and hopes makes our lives exciting. Never ever give up. Thank God that HGTV is providing these for us. Thank you Team HGTV!!! You Rock!
Have a great day!

Clinton Lake, Lawrence, Kansas. Maybe in the Westwood Hill development (The Enclave)? Loads of fishing, hiking, mountain biking nearby. Google defautlts to Lawrence, Kansas and Lawrence, Kansas is near the center of the contiguous states (hence the reference to eye maybe?). Home of the Jayhawks, and Firebirds? It is the sunflower state. Also known as Bleeding Kansa which may point the color red in the home?Lawrence, Kansas is home to the Haskell Indian Nation.
Posted by Penni Orlando – March 1, 2007 11:08 AM
You know, when there are guess about the states that the house is being built in are wrong... they tell you. That hasn't been the case w/Kansas yet.
Still think along the Scenic Flint Hills corrider would be perfect. The different perspective out the window could be just that, a different perspective on life. Not the busy ski slopes or any of the other places. Just a place to unwind & relax looking out across the rolling green plains of Kansas. Actually "watching the grass grow" & seeing all the stars that don't get shut out from the city or sprawling suburbs or etc. Big porch, wide open spaces. "Big House" on the Prairie.
Oh, and Kansas was founded in 1854, BUT was originated in 1851. Like the Blacksmith photo shows. I'm still biased, huhh :)
Posted by Tim – March 1, 2007 11:16 AM
I am still sticking (and hoping) for Northern Idaho. Sandpoint has Lake Pend Oreille (say Ponderay - Indian) 180 square miles. Trophy fishing. Schweitzer Mountain is great for snow skiing. I can't figure out a sunflower clue, but I'm sure they have some. STAR Garnet is the state Gem.

Posted by Mary – March 1, 2007 11:28 AM
Of course it is Tennessee. Rocky Top Tennessee!
Beautiful mountain area but also has some great valley property available.
Great choice.

From all the clues seen on and around the scrabble game, I believe it will be Kansas.
Posted by Pattie Blissett – March 1, 2007 11:42 AM
Ok, I was so set on Kansas, but I'm now thinking Michigan. Here's why:
International:
Between USA and Canada
Two Views:
Upper Peninsula has 2 views of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron
Porcupine Mountains and National Park close by
View of USA and Canada
View of lakes and mountains
Moose population
In upper peninsula of Michigan
Marquette County
Marquette Michigan on Lake Superior
Bridge in Media room:
Mackinac bridge in Michigan
Connects upper and lower peninsulas
Spans Lake Michigan and Lake Huron
Indoor and outdoor activities
Wisconsin: Much More than Cheese:
Just to the south of Michigan
Beyond the Scrabble Board:
University of Michigan has a Scrabble Club that meets weekly
“Eye” on the scrabble board:
Buckeye Township Michigan in the center of the state, surrounded by Lake Michigan and Lake Huron
OR: “Eye” = “I” for Indiana and Illinois, neighbors to Michigan
“Cold” on the scrabble board
DEFINITELY cold in Michigan, especially upper peninsula
The warrior picture in the office:
The Indian River just south of the upper and lower peninsula connection
So, I'm changing my guess from Kansas City to somewhere around Marquette Michigan
Posted by Lori – March 1, 2007 11:55 AM
I think it could be Missouri
Posted by Donna – March 1, 2007 12:09 PM
Did fcole really make a posting saying "It is Michigan"? Or was some one posing as fcole? See 2/28 @10:19 pm.
So sad for Alaska if that's the case:(
Posted by Heather – March 1, 2007 12:19 PM
How about West Point Lake in Georgia?
Posted by Cheryl – March 1, 2007 12:24 PM
California has the best of both worlds. We have mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.
I think Monterey, CA is the most beautiful place I have ever visited. Please pay us a visit, I'm sure the Lone Cypress will captivate you as it did me.
P.S
Where can I check out the clues?
Posted by JESSY – March 1, 2007 1:04 PM
Is it beautiful Lake Tahoe?
Posted by Joann – March 1, 2007 1:16 PM
There was a comment of how does it work to get $100.000.00...........By watching the show, that's how on March 18....
Very tricky clues..........Waiting for HGTV to finally give us where the home will be......running out of places.....myself.
Posted by anonymous – March 1, 2007 1:30 PM
The clue is no matter where the home will be, it would make a great vacation getaway place....a change in scenery.....or live 6 mo in it and 6 mo somewhere else.....dreaming!
Posted by ele – March 1, 2007 1:41 PM
This country has so many nice areas then any country in the world.....My guess is Branston, Missouri, Rocky Top, Tennessee.....Am I getting close?????????????????..............
Posted by Leon – March 1, 2007 1:47 PM
Opposite of rocky is flat like Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota......Is this getting closer?...........would be easier to build...
Posted by Ele – March 1, 2007 1:52 PM
I think the next one is going to be in Goose Creek, SC. Goose rhymes with moose and it is near the coast. Plus it is near beatuiful Charleston, SC.
Posted by Katja – March 1, 2007 1:53 PM
My vote is Great Smoky mountains
Posted by Vijay – March 1, 2007 2:14 PM
I think the next Dream Home should be in the beautiful state of Arkansas. You have several lakes with mountains to choose from and can build alot cheaper in Arkansas than anywhere in the USA.
Posted by Patty Callahan – March 1, 2007 2:21 PM
I think everyone is barking up the wrong tree except for the people who think it will be ARKansas! We don't have moose or buffalo to hunt but we have wonderful deer hunting and some of the best fishing you could want with several lakes all over the state (i.e. Lake Ouachita, Greers Ferry Lake, Lake DeGray).
I VOTE ARKANSAS!!!!
Posted by Lorie – March 1, 2007 2:28 PM
Could it possibly be in my home state of AZ??
Posted by Mary Kay – March 1, 2007 2:32 PM
Im still sticking with my Kansas Lakes, unlesss it's in Missouri and kansas was only a stop over clue
Winterpark "Colorado" touches Kansas on the east then on to Missouri! lol
makes sense to me!
Posted by Kim – March 1, 2007 2:32 PM
Well I've said Seattle all along. Now the clue is a animal head that looks similiar to the Mariners mascot. I'm still saying Seattle. Just waiting for the video to narrow down the area. The whole city has water(salt and fresh) and mountain access. I'm hoping Seattle area.
Posted by Toya B – March 1, 2007 2:44 PM
Ok, first post, first guess. The scrabble board has the word "eye". The book on the end table by the chair has a picture of an eye. The book is by Paul Auster and is about a Vermont man who is invited to travel to New Mexico. The moose clue fits with Vermont. Thinking too hard?
Posted by Connie – March 1, 2007 2:45 PM
Hmmmm...I was thinking New York because it does have all the clues and the inventor of Scrabble was born there. But it states "beyond Scrabble". Either way it is north of the Mason-Dixon line if you are going to have Moose and if it has "international possibilities" it is on the Canadian border. So it could be Maine, Montana or even Minnesota. And a few other states. I don't think they would pick some place that is hard to fly into, though.
Posted by Laura – March 1, 2007 2:47 PM
Perhaps Montana?? I love Colorado though. It is my absolute dream to win the home in Winter Park. I've visited it a few times on my way up to ski, and what a gift the home is. So beautiful and dreamy. If I am the lucky one to win the dream home, I will enjoy it with all I have, but most of all, I'd move my father in, who has been homeless for several years. It would be an incredible answer to my desperate prayers!
Posted by Kara – March 1, 2007 2:48 PM
I did a little internet search and came up with Moose, Wyoming. It's in the Grand Tetons and the Snake River runs through it. Just following the moosehead hint. It looks like a lovely place. Just a guess.
Posted by Dorothy – March 1, 2007 2:50 PM
It's in a Canadian border state.
So...
Alaska
Idaho
Maine
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
New Hampshire
New York
North Dakota
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Vermont
Washington
Sleuth away
Posted by Magnusassgens – March 1, 2007 2:55 PM
I think Virginia. The Robert E. Lee book, a huge lake for fishing (second largest I believe), coastal with mild weather for the most part. Virginia has part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. To me, the Shenandoah Valley is a good candidate! Shenandoah is an Indian word poetically translated as 'daughter of the stars'.
Virginia was the setting for the movie 'On Golden Pond'. A good possibility for 2008?
Posted by Masked – March 1, 2007 3:13 PM
I still say it will be in Kansas. All the clues are leading there. I think Great Bend Kansas would be a great choice.
Posted by carenet – March 1, 2007 3:15 PM
MONTANA! Flathead Lake. Watch for it there.
Posted by D – March 1, 2007 3:16 PM
Whitefish, Montana!
Posted by D – March 1, 2007 3:19 PM
Washington or Oregon or even Northern Cali, MOuntains and Water!
Posted by Vic – March 1, 2007 3:21 PM
My guess would be beautiful Alaska we had moose in our yard all the time, wish we could go back!
Posted by nicole – March 1, 2007 3:35 PM
Let's not forget-- the beautiful State of ALabama. We are surrounded by lakes, fishing ,and beautiful beaches. We think Gulf Shores,AL,Lake Guntersville or Fort Payne would be super!
Posted by Patsy Richardson – March 1, 2007 3:39 PM
Wherever it is please announce it soon....i cant wait anymore to hear. It would be great if its going to be in michigan!!!
Posted by kiran – March 1, 2007 3:52 PM
To Heather... Sharp eye... you're right "fcole" or someone else with the same "signature" posted "It is Michigan" at 10:19 p.m. on 2/28. Hmmm... somewhere near Hiawatha National Forest in the Upper of MICHIGAN has been my guess all along but I'd missed that posting! It'll be fun to see Jack's video postcard!!
Posted by Elsie Jean – March 1, 2007 3:52 PM
Please let it be in Kentucky, I want to win it, so boring in this little one bedroom apt.
Posted by jewell salyers – March 1, 2007 3:58 PM
I think it will be in Rockaway Beach, New York. That is where Linda Woodrum is from, and she designed the Bunk House, which was one of the clues. Anyway "Rock"away beach. It is a beautiful place!!
Posted by Shari – March 1, 2007 4:19 PM
The new one has to be in the Missouri Ozarcs,no place else can be that pretty. I can just see me setting my front porch there.
Posted by John Umbeck – March 1, 2007 4:23 PM
Florida has beautiful beaches
Posted by Vasti Kittelstad – March 1, 2007 4:26 PM
I believe the location is around the Lakes Of Ozarts in Missouri. Its' hard to figure out the exact city, but I'm sure I am close.

Alright you pretend fcole no mocking the HGTV Cluemaster, (see 2/28 10:18 pm) besides it is in my favorite place Washington State. The only fcole I listen to is the one at the very top running controls. (As you should, Cami, fcole has not and will not add comments to this blog. Fcole only creates the entries.)
Posted by Cami – March 1, 2007 4:42 PM
It's going to be California...
Posted by Kelly Miller – March 1, 2007 4:47 PM
Heather: I noticed that too while on my lunch hour today. Did the FCOLE posting the clues make that comment or did someone else. Comment was "It's Michigan."
Posted by Devin – March 1, 2007 4:50 PM
I believe the HGTV Dream Home for 2008 will be in Iowa, Home of the Hawkeyes.
Posted by badbert2006 – March 1, 2007 4:57 PM
I'm still in Idaho! :) Looking for the Postcard.
Specifically, I'm sitting around Island Park, near Two Top.
Posted by Devin – March 1, 2007 4:57 PM
I heard that Heather! I otta! Not so fast my

Alaska hasn't lost the sled race just yet! LOL!
We still have Mc Dreamin Washington State & Oregon Coast left too! I'm staying with Coastal... My bet is still-wishin-hopin-prayin & plannin-and-skimin for ALASKA!!! with sky's full of dance rainbows... I think its a carosel full of Angels in Heaven... the stars twinkle from above... giving us a little peek to what's in store... HGTV says Dream... so I dream... about Alaska... OHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If that is fcole who posted that "It is Michigan", I'm just going to look up Michigan. But if that wasn't fcole, that person is just tricking us. I don't know if that was fcole or not. Was that you fcole??? We'd like to know...seriously. I'd only know it was or wasn't you fcole, if you told us on a new entry.
Plus, fcole only does her entries between 12:49PM-5:37PM. It couldn't have been the real fcole!!!!!!

We have our answer concerning the MB fcole imposter. The powers that be responded to my post above, in ( ) at the end of my post.
Posted by Cami – March 1, 2007 5:54 PM
I'm torn -- My original thoughts were Kansas City, with so many clues pointing in that direction. Then I starting looking at the upper peninsula of Michigan, and the clues looked like they fit there, too! So, I think it could be either.
Kansas City or one of the cities in the upper peninsula of Michigan (Marquette?)....those are my guesses.
The suspense is driving me crazy!! :-) I check every day, hoping for a new clue.
Posted by Lori – March 1, 2007 6:40 PM
Well I think we should put all the scrabble pieces back in the box and take Bullwinkle off the wall and hook him up with Rocky J Squirrel, tell Natasha and Boris there will be no International Dream House in Siberia this year, and wait for the Dream Team to let Deputy Dog out of the dog house. This has been a hoot to read all the guesses and reguesses. As for me most of the fun is just dreamin. Thanks HGTV

Hi Devin!
How's the flight over Mt McKinley? The view no-doubt is beyond words! How do you find these spots? I'm not good at figuring out the clues... I'm thinking "Coastal" Alaska... Being a Taurus once my minds made-up I dig in! lol.
I had a look-see of Mt McKinley... Devin! I think you guessed it dead on! When you see the view of "Denali" from the North" Plus... isn't GMC sponsoring the Denali SUV?? If you view "Denali" with different perspective from "WinterPark" YOu got it Devin! I think you hit it big time!!!!
We saved you a seat on the Alaska Chartered Bus! Devin if you figured it out... you call shot-gun!
Judy, Kathy Mc... anyone living in beautiful Alaska share with us some stories of the breath taking scenery.
P.S. Please let me apologize for my misspelling while typing in earlier post... my thoughts on your Alaska Northern Lights... I get to much going on at once while trying to post... Train wreck! Fingers type while brain goes in several different directions... multitasking? If that don't fly... not the first or last time I'll totally mess up a word or a sentence! That's a fact! lol
Edited: With skies full of dancing rainbows... I think of a musical carousel of Angels in the Heavens... the stars twinkle from above... giving us a little peek to what's in store. I so envy your beautiful Wild Wonderful State! & Really Super Nice People!
Posted by Charlotte – March 1, 2007 10:21 PM
how about chattanooga valley foot hills south carolina.......never been there but giving a guess
Posted by michel'e – March 2, 2007 12:37 PM
no matter where you decide to build the 2008 Dream House , I'm sure it will be an absolutely breath taking , out of this world site. Just like the 2007 was.
Posted by linda Bice – March 2, 2007 8:55 PM
Lisa Coughlin, I was thinking the same thing about Bullwinkel and Internation Falls, Minnesota. There are Islands, tons of water (coastal), fishing for Walleye fish (among other fish)...I don't know, that gets me far away from my first guess of Arkansas. One of the websites I looked up that was in Minnesota also said something about video postcards. If it was in Minnesota then Jack must of done his video postcard a long time ago when it was still warm there and had grass~ like last Summer or early fall before the leaves changed. And, if it's in Minnesota, then what about the kansas clue on the scrabble board?
HMMMM, need more clues!! Please give us the gardening zone HGTV!
I can't wait to hear them EXPLAIN all the clues when they announce the location! At least I hope they explain it all! I think Linda and Jack thought about doing this clue blog along time ago because of all the sleuthers on the dream home message board. The reason I think he made the video postcard a long time ago is based on what someone else said about the construction of the dream home being finished in July. I'm not sure where they got that info, I need to go do more research.....
Posted by SUNSEEKER – March 2, 2007 10:59 PM
I just hope it is in the SOUTH...weather wise,
Arkansas or Mississippi or Georgia would be great. If it is a Canadian border state...Montana
is a beautiful state for gem hunting, fishing,
mountain views...Maine, though cold, I have a son
from NJ who has a cabin in Maine fishing area &
we are 74 yrs. old & live in Tennessee...!!
Posted by Ann Rogers – March 3, 2007 1:32 PM
Just a guess, but I'm going with the Ozark territory of Arkansas. It's a good distance from the last Dream House, it's in a warm climate and there's plenty of fishing.
Posted by BK – March 4, 2007 9:21 AM
I still say that Albuquerque, New Mexico near Sandia Crest would be an ideal place for a future home. My guess for this building site would be in Northern Wisconsin area. Possibably Ashland!
Posted by Wayne Meyers – March 4, 2007 4:28 PM
Since I live in South Carolina and my granddaughter is here, I think the next dream home should be built in SC. There are plenty of beautiful spots in my state for a beautiful home.
My home town of Greenville is a grat place to live.
I did however, enter for a chance to win the home in Colorado. I never win anything and don't look to now but it's fun trying.
I love HGTV!
Posted by Linda Fuller – March 4, 2007 6:10 PM
If it's not Michigan this time I'm hoping that maybe the 2009 Home will be here. There are no beaches anywhere in the U.S.A. that can compare to our Great Lake Michigan. The views can be stunning....great expanses of wide open water, sand dunes, deep forests...Michigan is a water wonderland.
Posted by Linda – March 4, 2007 8:35 PM
Or...maybe Vermont??
Posted by LMT1022 – March 5, 2007 3:30 PM
I'm thinking Grand Canyon. Talk about a view with a different perspective... you'll be looking down.. not up. Sunsets don't get much better either.
Posted by rle – March 5, 2007 6:30 PM
I think the best place in the world has to be the Adirondacks of New York! The cold water fishing is amazing the views are unmatched and it is steeped in history. Presidents vacationed there, Olympics were held there and what chair is better known than the Adirondack chair? I have seen so many books based on life in the Adirondacks. As a native I can tell you nothing has touched my heart more than that place. If you enjoy the outdoor life you will love the Adirondacks of New York.
Posted by Rebecca – March 5, 2007 10:38 PM
Scotland would be perfect, but I believe it should be in America, like in the North Carolina mountains or maybe Chester, Nova Scotia. Great Dreaming!
Posted by Bill – March 8, 2007 11:15 AM
How about in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. There are many streams, rivers
Posted by Pat – March 9, 2007 12:01 PM
A great place would be Lake Travis near Austin, TX.
Posted by Pat – March 9, 2007 12:02 PM
i'm confused on your post above. you said "we've already ruled out Chattanooga", but in fact, your previous clue doesn't rule out Chattanooga; it just says that the show Dream House being shown on HGTV isn't the Dream Home.
Posted by ppgghh – March 9, 2007 2:57 PM
I'm surprised no one has mentioned beautiful Oklahoma! It's a great state. Lakes, mountains, warm weather and sunshine. Build it here!
Posted by Barb – March 11, 2007 3:09 PM
I'm thinking Pennsylvania. Just some clues I picked up on.
Posted by Debbie – March 12, 2007 12:38 PM
Lake Keowee, South Carolina
Beautiful lake with views of the mountain.
Posted by Rita Hamilton – March 14, 2007 1:34 PM
I think Dream Home 2008 will be in Rocky Mount, NC, a booming area in the eastern part of NC, which is very different than the mountainous western area of NC where Dream Home 2006 was built.
Posted by Carol – March 14, 2007 7:21 PM
I think it is Tennessee. It has a little bit of every thing.
Posted by Linda – March 15, 2007 10:59 AM
Western North Carolina has been eliminated, but the clues say "but we're not going back to the mountains of North Carolina for 2008." So NC is still my guess still - only eastern and coastal this time around!
Posted by Deb – March 15, 2007 1:27 PM
I personally think Louisiana would be a beautiful place for a dream home, especially with it being a sportamans paradise and the beautiful waterways and lakes. After all the bad news in the last few years peopl deserve to see the wonderful state it is truly is and the rare beauty, splendor and unique people of Acadiana.!
