If you could be there the moment we tell someone they've just won the HGTV Dream Home in the Florida Keys, what question would you ask? Add your question to the comments below, and we'll pick the best ones. We'll send the list along with our video producer when we surprise the winner on March 16. Then check Dream Home Central later in the week for some special videos, including one where the winner answers YOUR questions!
PS If you haven't noticed yet, the HGTV Green Home tour went live earlier today. It's the eco-friendly home we built near Hilton Head, S.C. You can enter for a chance to win this one starting March 21.

THREE QUESTIONS COME TO MIND (OTHER THAN WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN ASKED BY OTHERS), (1) DID YOU HAVE ANY CLUES OR SUSPICIONS THAT YOU WERE THE WINNER (SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALLS OR VEHICLES OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE)? (2) IS THIS THE FIRST YEAR THAT YOU HAVE EVER ENTERED THE HGTV DREAM HOME? (3) WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SKEPTICAL ABOUT ENTERING THE HGTV DREAM HOME SWEEPSTAKES FOR FUTURE YEARS TO COME?
Posted by Chrystal Osborne – March 3, 2008 11:29 AM
Do you think you might want to rent it out throughout the year to help pay for upkeep and those nasty taxes? In that location I'm sure you could have it booked all year.

I would ask, did you have any hint of intuition that you would be winning the 2008 dream home?
Posted by Robin – March 3, 2008 11:40 AM
Hey if I don't win and you do...call me I'll buy it. Remember you have to claim it on your taxes, pay for homeowners insurance, flood insurance, wind insurance, Monroe county property taxes and upkeep. Also auto insurance on the Yukon. We figured it would cost us about $500,000 in taxes alone for 2008....but worth it. We'll make a good deal.
Posted by Robbi Viveiros – March 3, 2008 11:40 AM
Now that you wished for the dream home and now you have it. what's next ? wish for what now ? do you plan to bring people, family, or just me?

I would probably be in shock and shed a few tears. Then, upon confirmation I would invite everyone who has entered at least once every year in all the Dream Homes Sweepstakes to join me for milk, coffee, or tea during an entire weekend.

Will you be purchasing a boat?
What is or will be your next dream?
If you could use one word that best describes your feelings at this moment what would it be?
What would you like to say to the HGTV dreamers that didn't win this gorgeous home?
To what or who do you attribute your great fortune?

I have visited this house daily online and if the

"Can you rub some of that luck off on me?" ;-)
Posted by dreamn08 – March 3, 2008 2:38 PM
So many questions about being able to afford to keep the awsome house. My question would be "Did HGTV give you any cash to help cover the costs (i.e., taxes, insurance, etc) of keeping the house?" I think I remeber that last year's winner also got $200,000.00 cash. Also, I would want to know if the winner knew before the 16th (phone call, vehicles in front yard, friend or relative contacted). How would HGTV know where the winner is on the 16th???? I am sure that all who entered are not stairing out their window from morning til night (except me).
Posted by Beth – March 3, 2008 2:38 PM
Just curious if there's anything you would change about the house or would you keep everything the way it is?

Posted by Jane – March 3, 2008 3:04 PM
Since I have visited the dream home and am a long time South Florida Resident, I know how truly special and unique this home is. It hugs you when you enter and right away you relax. The flow is wonderful and even though it is very open, it is private at the same time. Every room has an ocean view. You feel the designers and the loving care they put into every choice of fabric, color, furnishings and artwork. When you leave, you miss it! I have not been able to stop thinking about it since I left. So I would ask the winner if he/she has any idea how wonderful this home is and if they were truly interested in the home or just entering a contest. I would hope it goes to someone who REALLY WANTS IT.
Posted by Gale Drake – March 3, 2008 3:06 PM

Comment: The Huracaine season is comming and the Fl keys are most of the time the first ones to get hit by one. Can you afford property insurance? In a house like that ,the insurance is going to be very expensive. Will HGTV help you, at least, with the first year?

These are all great questions! what i want to know is how a person who plans to be watching the HGTV dream home live giveaway--like me--would be able to get a family member to take them somewhere like they did for the 2006 dream home????? wouldnt be pretty obvious....

I only would need to "ask" them one thing. "Do you need any help packing your swimsuits?" Of course congratulations to whom ever is the winner and I do hope they are as much in love with the keys as I have always been. Enjoy the ride.

What was the first word or reaction you had when the contact person told you "you were the winner?" Who is the first person you are going to invite to share a few days with you? Are you going to ask family/friends to help you with the taxes, insurances and become part owners with you? Are you gonna open up "a dream bed & breakfast"? (If you are allowed) and if so (if I could even afford it) can I be the first to reserve a week and pretend it's mine? Sorry only one question is not enough for us courious crazy and excited minds.
God's blessings to the winner whoever you are!

First of all Congrads. to you for winning this beautiful home! My question is: Did you register online or did you mail in your your entry?
Posted by Chrissy – March 3, 2008 7:05 PM
Funny, as I read all the questions, I started to answer them in my head, as if I were the winner. Some were easy to answer and some were hard. I would depend on HGTV's staff and my financial advisors to guide me about the taxes, etc. One bloggers question: "How would you handle relatives who want to come and visit all the time?" I would welcome them with open arms, that is why I want to win this beautiful home.
MY QUESTION TO THE WINNER WOULG BE; Have you ever posted on this blog? If so, what was your "handle"? Pleasant Dreams Everyone.
Posted by Katydid – March 3, 2008 7:05 PM
The first thing I would ask the winner after I have congratulated him or her is: "How does it feel to have your Dream Home come true"?
Posted by Debby – March 3, 2008 7:12 PM
do you feel bad that you won because of the millions of people that wanted this house?
Also were there any "hints" that you won
do you think that you were truly meant to win this house or was it a SHOCKER

I love to fly fish with my husband and two sons. I would ask:
Are you a flyfishermen? if not, consider this awesome hobby. You cannot have a home in the KEYS especially Islamorada, the flyfishing capital of the world, without loving this sport!!!!!!!!!
p.s. I have always wanted to go bone fishing on the flats.

I would ask the winner if the house spoke to his/her soul as it spoke to mine; if they can hear the breeze singing soft songs of the sea as it brushes against the face while standing on the balcony; If they can already hear the joyfull chatter of friends and family as their faces are reflected in the candleglow.
Yes, I heve already mentally moved in.
I hope you love it I as do.

Posted by Lynda – March 3, 2008 7:35 PM
Everyone has asked you about how will you pay the taxes, can I stay with you, wanna trade houses etc.
My question is: Is this the first time you entered in this Home Giveaway on HGTV and if the answer is yes then, do you wish it would've been in a different location and would you liked to have been notified you were a winner and get to help pick out the fixtures, furniture etc. before it was done for you?
Posted by Margaret – March 3, 2008 7:35 PM
The thought of winning this fantastic home is truly unique. But for the average person this can also be a nightmare. 1- You have to pay the taxes on the toatal amount of the winnings of $2.2 million. And you would need to keep working to pay this amount or refinance the house to pay-off the goverment, I am pretty sure the job market in tat area does not pay well, and if there are good paying jobs available.
This house will be a blessing and I am sure that HGTV can help with the roper advice needed to proceed with the house and how to pay for all the taxes on the earn icome, since they WILL be giving the winner a 1099..
GOOD LUCK to the winner!

Just a thought, always remember to enjoy the things that are handed to you in life. The keys are very beautiful, we have been going there for 18 years now and we have not found anything that we disliked about the keys. The locals have always treated us with kindness and have always shown us a great time. The water is absolutely beautiful and if you treat nature the way that is should be treated it will respect you back. Enjoy what you get, not only the home but what the keys have to offer. And truly consider yourself blessed in so many ways.
Here is my spirit lifter.
May the Seas take your troubles away
May the Sun give you the strength to make it through the day
May the Blue skies tell you there are endless possibilities
May the Sand remind you that things may be rough but they always smooth out
May you enjoy whatever life has to give you and never take it for granted.
ENJOY LIFE :-)

PASSING ON THE BLESSING MAKING IT A CYCLE A GOOD ONE THATS MY DREAM IF AND WHEN I WIN....THANKS.

Posted by Sherri – March 3, 2008 9:28 PM
It would be hard for myself to answer (although I could): What's your favorite show on HGTV?
I wouldn't think HGTV would like to air the fact that the winner might not be able to afford the house, even though I'd be really curious on how a person with normal income (like myself) could do so.
So my other question, that I think has a chance of making it on the show is: What are you most excited about/for? the beach, the sunsets, winning something, having friends/family over, etc. And Congratulations- you're a very lucky person!! :)

HGTV,
I am aware that there is an opportunity to pose a question to the winner of this year's dream home on your website, however I would like to make this comment. I absolutely wish there were some individual "television measuring machine" that could be used to select a winner for a future HGTV dream home. This would definitely up my chances because even when my tele is off I'm still "watching" HGTV. Good job guys.

When they are surprised or if they some how are told. You can just ask if they know who you(Monica Pederson)&(Clive Pearse)are and why the HGTV crew would be coming to visit? That would start the chat hopefully.

Did you have any indication something was going on and that you would be the winner of the Dream Home? Who in your family or friends knew before you found out you were the winner? Did they give you any clues or act strange around you?
Do you have anything you would like to say to your family?

If I win the dream home I would move my daughter and her family in with us. They just moved to Macon, MS, with my 2 grandchildren. 4 hours away because of no work in this area. Katrina hit all here hard and it seems recovery is slow. My husband and myself are both amputees and we need lots of space. That dream home would be perfect for all of us to have our own space and still be together as famly and help each other. I am happy for whomever wins it. Blessings Indeed.

Like everyone else,, How will u be able to pay those taxes? Unless of course you are already filty rich and its not a problem... I pray that its a family who is just making it from payday to payday,, in debt until they are 6 feet under, can sell the dream home, get out of debt, build a nice home that they can afford. Make some wise investments to protect their children, and hopefully grandchildren.I pray they can live happily everafter. Now that is a dream :>)

Thank you HGTV and all that have had a hand in making this dream a reality. Through your hard work and creative actions you have enriched the lives of many simply by doing what you enjoy doing most. Your combined efforts and activities expand beyond anything we could have imagined or dreamed. Your visions, activities, and creativeness have empowered us in many ways and touched countless others beyond anything an ordinary human could accomplished.
We are a more educated consumer because of you; others have been able to share their dreams with us. This journey has allowed someone like me down the road towards making other dreams a reality. Sincere Thanks, again.

Now that we know what we would ask the winner! I just can't help but think about what the winner would say first! What if it were you and just what if it were me, I know when first notified I would probably simply just say: Please excuse my mess or No way, REally me! Maybe cry or even pass out! Then when it finally stuck in my head I were the winner! I would be so excited I don't know what I would do! I would then start thanking God & HGTV for the opportunity of a lifetime to change my life: Hopefully for the better! I know that winning these dream home properties are risky business (some of them unfortunately are empty and some families lost out on bettering their lives, very sad) & it definitely would turn our lives inside out for a while. If one of us were the winner, And it would mean big change whether you kept the house or sold it! I would hope that I could keep it & invest into it as a rental property, if the property bylaws allowed one to do so. I think it would be awesome to rent it out so others could enjoy the home as their own dream home even if only for a few days. It would make alot of people happy and alot of dreams come true. It would make the impossible of being there and living in the home Possible! For more than just the winner! But the truth is we probably couldn't afford to keep the house even if we did rent it! I'm not sure if rental income would equal out the expenses for maintenance and finances needed to run and insure such a beautiful expensive place! So after giving the rental thing a try, and it maybe didn't work, I would also start praying to God to send me an honest buyer that would pay a fair market price because of the properties value & possibility of investment & that the buyer would be kind and caring about the winner! That they would really be interested in the property for their family to enjoy and to help yes a lucky & blessed home winner to move on to dreams reachable and that the winner would get what they deserve money wise in the sell! So I just ask for the possible buyers out there to please not take advantage of the winner if they chose to sell! Really this is an easy opportunity for someone to take advantage of the winner, so get a good lawyer: buyers knowing the market is slow and that you won this home will take advantage but face it would be risky for the winner or anyone with a regualar paycheck to try to keep this home! To keep things positive, I would try to keep the house as rental investments and even try to enjoy it for a while. All I do know is that I would be ever so thankful for the opportunity of a lifetime to win this home so it could change my families life, make life easier for us, in whatever we decided to do with the dreamhome. I know the winner's not me at this time. But I do with all my heart pray that God gives this home to the one family who deserves it and will appreciate and use it to change their lives for the better in anyway possible. I think being appreciative for the opportunity is most rewarding to anyone whether they keep or sell it! By accepting such a generous gift as this you should be able to improve your life with it: not allow it; let it burden you down. Life is already hard enough! So enjoy it winner and do what's best for you and your family. If you must sell to keep your dreams alive, then sell it! If this is your dream and you can keep it, then keep it! Good luck everybody! Congratulations winner and Hgtv, I hope the notification of winning really comes off as a real good surprise for you and the tv audience gets to see it all in person! From the phone call to the knock on the door whereever that is! Good luck everybody!

Posted by mary mcgraw – March 4, 2008 10:14 AM
After reading all the ?s, noting that HGTV would already know what their general financial/ personal situation was, and knowing that God will only give us "the desires of our heart" if we remember WHO is our provider, I guess I would say, "Congratulations, you are truely blessed to recieve such a wonderful gift from God!" Then I would ask them, "What are your plans for this home? Do you think it would be a good place for the youth to come for a visit?" and,"How are you going to tithe THIS blessing?"

I have another who is a mechanical engineer a few teachers and a marketing/sales/business mngmnt. grad. There are 11 in all. I can Fish, swim, cook, crab, scallop, clam, etc. I left the business world to have the life I have now. (www.cybercalf.com, thats my restaurant)I have thought hard about winning and what I would do with the house. My ?, have you ever thought of a high end B&B? I can be a partner at a moments notice and I will bring a work worthy entourage. Oh, and my husband of 27 years is a master carpenter.

First of all CONGRATULATIONS. You are truly blessed. I pray you are someone who really needed a home (so many of us are without homes we can call our own) so my hats off to you. You should Thank God each morning that you wake up for the blessing. I myself would have liked to be the winner. Like most people have asked how many times did you enter. May you find, love, joy, prosperity & create many memories in your new home. Lastly I pray you will be able to pay the taxes to be able to keep it. I pray it wasn't like the other gentleman who wasn't able too. Good for you and ENJOY!

To the winner I would first say, you are soooooo LUCKY! Congratulations and I hope you have many wonderful moments to share in your beautiful romantic home with that beautiful view. Then I would kindly ask?
Please, would you share that beach with my sister and me? We have dreamed of sitting in those two chairs looking out at the water and watching the beauty of the sea and feeling the breeze in our face, laughing and sharing our most wonderful childhood memories. Finally our special time together that we have dreamed of for years. Thank You and God Bless!

I guess I would ask them how grateful they feel about being able to live out a dream. How will they appreciate the fact they were chosen, the home itself and HGTV for giving them this opportunity to live in the Keys, in a house that most of us "CAN ONLY DREAM OF", I would wish them much happiness, love, contentment and luck in living out their dream in their new home.

I'm allways hoping the person who wins dosn't have a big beautiful home to begin with. I pray the person who wins really desirves it, and needs it. So, my question would be. What is your home like? Do you have a home? My husband and I love the beach, it's our favorite pastime. We are planning to retire in Florida. We will buy a trailer. As long as it's clean and we have a place to sleep, it's good enough for us. Congratulations to the winner of the 2008 Dream Home.

Possibly worse than taxes, (and what I guarantee has happened to every winner thus far)... are you ready for : 1)the the harsh covetous remarks from people who want your dream home, 2) the hard luck and sob stories from people who want your wealth, 3)the deception of previously silent friends and relatives who suddenly want to be your best friend? I doubt my question will be picked because HGTV is so good to focus on all things POSITIVE. The reality is that people will want to steal your blessing instead of asking God for their own! You could give 100% of it away and still the masses would not be satisfied. So how will you handle this?
Posted by Shari – March 6, 2008 2:56 PM
My big question would be "Do you know how much the taxes will be on the house and how will you be able to afford them?"

First congratulations on your winning of such a grand prize. We all have seen the past Dream Homes being sold or in the process of being sold. If you decide not to stay in the home of dreams, or the finances to own the home of your dreams is to an extreme, would you consider maintaining the Dream Home for those less fortunate possibly hosting a grand event once or twice a year to raise funds for the foundations?

I think I'd ask if they stopped to thank God for giving them such a wonderful opportunity to have something so grand. I know if it were me that was being given something like that, I'd be overjoyed, I've never had a home once I got married. We always lived in apartments or townhomes. Wow, this has to be the grandest feeling to hear someone say, you've won the florida keys sweepstakes dreamhome. Well, may Gods richest blessings fall upon the one He chooses.
Posted by Nancy – March 6, 2008 11:53 PM
I would ask the winner how are they going to use their blessing to better the world and/or community? As for myself, (both my husband and I are full-time college students, have three small healthy children, live in a tiny 2 bedroom apt. from previously living in a 19 foot long toy hauler trailer, work two jobs, volunteer for search and rescue and will graduate in 2 or more years) If we won, we would turn the house into an oasis for people who are terminally ill, not so healthy children that need time with their families before their health gets worse so they can enjoy time at the beach and in the sun instead of a hospital bed, war veterans to vacation in (with their families) when they return from oversees (hey!!! a great vacation home to be reunited with their families!!!), people who have worked hard all their lives and have nothing, to go to the keys and just have a good time, since social security isn't enough to live on, let alone, have a weeks vacation in peace and quiet! and during all this (that's 56 families a year!!!) Oh, those hard working single-mom's that are going to school raising kids on their own need a break too! My husband and I are healthy, in our thirties, have three beautiful, healthy children and want to someday get out of this dead-beat apartment and build our own dream home with our own hands, because we can and are physically able to. Not financially, yet, but our hard work will pay off and the HGTV dream home 2008 should go to this type of cause....that's incase we are the 'granted' recipients....you all have my word on this, because the world can be a better place if we stop thinking about ourselves so much!!!

Answers to 3 part questions from SCOTT posted march 6, 2008, 11:30 PM: 1: I WOULDN'T get the same homeowners insurance my parents had in Biloxi, miss. from the extensive house-shredding damage they got from hurricane katrina...their home is still damaged. 2:Since the house would be used for 100% non-profit and charitable cause, would there be taxes?? I'm a full-time college student on a student's budget, there would be NO WAY to afford taxes. 3: I would look for investors to invest in the home's upkeep and tax credit...when I graduate, as an engineer, I will contribute to the cause as well...
Posted by marlean – March 7, 2008 1:41 AM

I WOULD ASK THE WINNER HOW THEY COULD POSSIBLY
ANSWER ALL HGTV FANS QUESTIONS.
THERE MUST BE THOUSANDS!!!
Posted by Judy Manley – March 7, 2008 5:01 AM
What I would say to the winner:
Congratulations on your amazing 2008 HGTV Dream...now your REALITY Home!! I sincerely hope that you, your family, and your friends, will all enjoy a lifetime of precious memory making in Islamorada!! Treasure every moment you are surrounded by the beauty, tranquility, and splendor of your magnificent new home...perfect in every detail!! Always remember to keep sacred each breathtaking view, to savor every salty breeze, to be thankful for each miraculous sunrise and sunset you will see, and always remember that you are blessed as you watch each sunkissed sparkle reflected off the ocean!! What you've been given is priceless!!
Congratulations and God Bless!!
For myself and my 14 year old son, we were actually in the Florida Keys last July....for 28 hours. The first and only time we have ever been there. We went on a little trip to Miami, and saw that the Key West Express (keywestshuttle.us), a boat service, traveled to and from Key West. On a fluke, we took a trip. And it was a trip that changed our lives forever.
The Florida Keys immediately became the one place in the world, that was "home" for both of us, and we plan on moving there in June so we can be "Livin on Key West Time"...by Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band (milemarker24.com)!!
The lushness of the area - the smell - the fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and fresh seafood all year around...the laid-back attitude of all the good-hearted people there, the peace, serenity, the simplistic beauty and slower pace of life - made it "home" for us - and we knew this on our way via the Key West Express - before we ever stepped foot on the Florida Keys.
The Florida Keys is our "home" that we know for certain, as it's in our hearts, in our minds, and in our very souls. It's not only a place we call "home", it's where we are supposed to be, where we have to be...call it fate, call it destiny, we call it divine intervention.
We do love everything about the Florida Keys and our grateful for each moment that we had there...and are eagerly looking forward to making Keys memories by mid-June, for the rest of our lives.
Now, our home in the Florida Keys won't be as luxurious as your fine home in Paradise...but I can guarantee you that we will be forever grateful for each and every minute that our lives are in the Florida Keys. And we have worked hard in the past 8 months to make what we have to have, our reality.
My questions to the winner are simple...
1. Is the HGTV 2008 Dream Home in Islamorada, a place you KNOW you have to be....a place you KNOW you belong...or...is just a fancy prize??
2. If you had not won your extravagant new home, Yukon truck, and cash winnings...would you have relocated to the Florida Keys at some point in your life??
Once again, Congratulations and God Bless!!

Is there anything that you would change in the house? For example: the color(s), the arrangement of furniture, or even the landscape.

I'd like to ask the folks posting here - WHY they always must invoke GOD and blessings and that bible-speak when talking about about a random sweepstakes? Please put that religion stuff back in the closet where it belongs.

How sad will you be to have something so lovely and have to let it go? (Sounds like a line from Pretty Woman) I guess it is better to have loved and lost than never WON. I would probably be crying harder than I did when I won it. Hope you are able to keep it.

First of all, huge congratulations on winning! Just one question for you. If you were to decide to sell this home, would you consider donating to my family's Lyme Disease Fund and/or mention this letter and our fund in your interviews upon winning to assist our family?? Our entire family is affected and the situation is truly heartbreaking. Let me tell you our story as quickly as I know how...
I was infected by this horrific illness, Lyme Disease, unknowingly in 1987. I thought it was just the flu or a bad case of mono and thought nothing of it. I had three beautiful daughters in the early 90's. I started to show symptoms shortly after but had no clue what it was at the time. Then, I started having terrible pain in my neck and back in 2001 and was just treated for symptoms. The pain continued to worsen beyond control, and spread throughout my body. In 2006, I was under the care of a new Dr. that listened to me and believed in me and ran several blood tests, one of which was a Lyme antibody test. It was negative. I was (mis)diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Im mid 2007 I got so sick to the point I could not walk. I had another negative test but found out the antibody tests are useless if you have had the infection for a long time. My Dr. also tested for some other things that came back abnormal as well. I sent my blood to this world renowned lab specific to Lyme Disease. Two weeks later, my test came back very positive. I was actually relieved at the time as I had answers to what was causing all of this pain and misery. I thought I was dying of cancer as I had 6 visits to the hospital in August 2007 alone, not counting Drs. appointments. I started oral antibiotic treatment in Sept. '07. I also found out that my adrenal glands were near failure (due to the Lyme), and was diagnosed with Addison's Disease. After doing as much research as possible about the disease, My thoughts immediately shifted to my children as I learned that the disease can be passed from mother to unborn child through the placenta and/or breastfeeding. Due to lack of finances, my middle child with the most symptoms tested positive first. She had been misdiagnosed as bipolar/ADHD and unnecessarily medicated for the last few years when all she needed was antibiotics. Then, my other daughters tested positive. Our family is physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally devastated by this disease. We must travel 8 hours each month to a Lyme Literate Medical Dr. in Tampa to get treatment. We must get a hotel, as the drive is too much for my husband to drive there and back in one day. The ride itself is too much for me and my daughters, and gas these days is staggering. My husband ran out of sick and vacation time long ago due to this very reason. We do have medical insurance. However, it has a very high deductible, a high out of pocket maximum and does not cover the visits we so desperately need to continue to see our Lyme Dr. We also have limited home health care nursing coverage which is just about exhausted for the year. It is imperative to have our nurse continue care as I am homebound. Pretty bad for a 36 year old, I know, but I have big plans, hopes and dreams for helping others. My other two daughters are awaiting treatment. My 15 year old daughter is responding wonderfully to IV antibiotics. I started on IV antibiotics in November when we started seeing the Dr. in Tampa. I was making great progress as well, but shortly before Christmas I received a contaminated batch of Heparin Blood thinner and contracted a blood infection called Serratia Marcescens. It sent me regressing backwards in months, if not years in my treatment. I finally restarted IV antibiotics again last Wednesday. My employer has been generous enough to set up a fund at Trustmark Bank in the Destin and Seagrove Beach areas of Florida. Our fund is called Anne Hildebrandt Family Medical Benefits Fund and donations can be made to any Trustmark Bank Branch.
We too are residents of the beautiful State of Florida and live in the Panhandle in between Destin and Pensacola. We love it here but are looking forward to hopefully getting our lives back someday. For now, we are in survival mode and our health is #1 and the dream home that we built 4 years ago is #2. We have no choice but to file for Bankruptcy this week. We were working towards the American Dream, putting our daughters through college, having a nest egg, etc. Now it's a matter of sticking together and trying to hang on to what we have left, so we can attempt to get back to that wonderful place in life once again, someday, somehow. Once we have beat this disease together as a family, we have big plans to start a local support group and an additional fund for those like us, that maybe have symptoms of Lyme Disease but have no idea what it is, how to get diagnosed, natural pain management, etc. We will help with advice on proper testing, finding home health nursing, and answering questions about symptoms and possible complications of the disease.
Best of luck to you and your new beautiful home! We would love for you to help us or at least help us get the word out!!!
Sincerely,
Anne Hildebrandt

My Question:
Would you like to house-swap for a week or two once a year? We own a home in beautiful East Orlando, just a 35 minute drive to either Disney or Cocoa Beach! No hard feelings if you pass, but the offer from this native Floridian stands.
A sincere congratulations to you on your win! Make sure to explore your new home and its surrounding areas. . .
1. Find tiny Key Deer grazing on Big Pine Key at dusk.
2. Buy a pair of freshly-made Kino sandals in Key West. Watch them made right there!
3. Visit the Key West Aloe Factory--you'll need some of their products after baking in the FL sun!
4. Sunsets at Mallory Square are truly grand.
5. Watch out for those six-toed cats slinking around Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West.
6. Have a fancy dinner at Little Palm Island, accessible only by boat or seaplane. There are no TVs or telephones in the suites. You could really get LOST!
7. Get used to key lime--it is in everything!
8. Check out treasure hunter Mel Fisher' Non-Profit Maritime Museum in Key West, and remember his wise words because you may need them . . .
"I think that perseverance has paid. That's one of the main things, just hang in there and do your thing and when people try to tear you down or get jealous, just let it go in one ear and out the other and keep on going."
-Mel Fisher
9. Your saltwater fishing license will get lots of use--Please FISH like there is no tomorrow and enjoy your BIG CATCH! This will sadly be "the one that got away" for many, but there is always next year to dream again.
May the fish be with you. . .

Why do people like Anne Hildebrante (above) think that the world owes them other peoples fortunes for their illnesses? It's terrible that anyone has to be sick, but it doesn't give them the right to take away the joy of a once in a lifetime prize. Maybe the winner has problems of their own that makes them deserving of the home prize.
Who ever wins, enjoy and don't listen to the people about their illnesses, charaties, or donations.
It's the luck of the draw.
Posted by Cindy – March 10, 2008 5:04 AM

Posted by Marilyn Marcussen – March 10, 2008 11:13 AM
How much are the taxes?
How much will it cost to put shutters and fence up the yard?
How much land is really yours?
Can you fence up the private beach surrounding the estates to keep the public out of your back yard?
How soon after you win can you sell or rent out the property?
How much would you sell or rent it for?
With today's market, is it better for you just to keep it rather than sell it?
Posted by Lellany – March 10, 2008 1:13 PM
I have read several of the blogs related to the Dream Home and it just amazes me how so many people think they "deserve" the house....the house isn't going to be given to the biggest sob story! It's a drawing people! Also, for those of you who keep saying that the winner BETTER give to others....it's not your decision to make! I almost would hate to be the winner after reading the ugly comments towards last year's winner.
Just so everyone knows...if I were to win (which I have no hopes of winning--haven't you read the odds!)....I would sell the home so that I could build my dream house (a very modest 4 bedroom in GA). I would give 10% to my church and I would give my current house to my neighbor's son so he could live right by his parents. I would pay off all my parent's bills and put the rest away to take care of my two sons.
The winner of this contest does NOT owe anyone an explanation of how they will use their winnings....why doesn't everyone just say "wow, you are so lucky...congrats!" to whoever wins and be done with it!
It just shows how selfish and narcissistic this society has become.
And guess what....I will wake up on the 17th (my birthday by the way) and be smiling just the same as I did when I woke up on the 16th, having not won the house and knowing whoever did was blessed and will enjoy it however they can!
Can I get an AMEN?

My question to the winner would be:
I would like to ask if your name is really Sarah Lynch, the same Sarah Lynch whose husband's name is Norman Lynch. And, are your kids Delaney and David planning to share a bedroom, or do they each get their own. Also do you plan to learn how to fish for the big game from your husband Norm? Also, what's the best mosquito repellant?

Do you plan on living in this wonderfull home year round or just a vacation home?
Posted by Rachel – March 10, 2008 9:07 PM
What room is going to be yours!
With the size of my family and being very close to my in-laws and parents. It may be time to get both Grandpa's a metal detector. As it would be a challenge to determine, who would be out on the beach first thing each morning in search of gold. Both my dad and father-in-law (Dan and Stan) have been talking about running away to Florida for years in search of their dreams of gold.
One of my favorite sayings is "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams " by Eleanor Roosevelt-- I'm happy for you and hope that each a everyday you can spend time enjoying your family and friends because life is too short. Have fun!

First of all I want to say I think it is awful the greed of some people these days. Contests like this are made to be fun. The excitement of anticipation. I believe everything happens for a reason and whoever wins this house will truely be blessed and they will do with it whatever is needed. Be it as a home or selling to pay off a home and bills, maybe put money away for children or time share. That would probably be my question. "What will they do now that they have won and what does it mean to them that they were the winners of thousands?" To whomever should win, even if not be me I would say congradulations and God Bless!
Posted by Deanna – March 11, 2008 11:21 AM
Some of you are really messed up in the head! This is a drawing (lottery) people not anything else. What's with all of the sob stories? What makes some of you think that you've got more problems than anyone else. Submit your entry and have fun dreaming about winning. If you do cool, enjoy if not, move on with your lives.

i hate to break it to you, raytonya (and several other people on this blog)...but, god has nothing to do with this contest. it's a random drawing. i think it's horrible that people are bringing religion in to this. it's a darn sweepstakes...i wonder if the majority of folks on this blog "found god" after they submitted their entries for the dream home...so sad.

Congradulation, if you Won, that beautiful home, and so many on here have so much greed and are thinking of there self. is that Christian like, NO it's not before you start telling everyone what you would do with the new home are you not forgetting something ? 1. take time out to say Thank You Jack Thomasson for making such a beautiful home . and 2 for HGTV for making it all happen , lets not all forget them , behind all of this , if I don't win it's no big deal, I just had fun, coming on line and playing again it would never change my life, I have been blessed in other ways.

my question would be : So How long will you take off work? if it were me I think about a month, or so and vacation in the keys while I am waiting for the sale.
Posted by Jen M – March 12, 2008 2:23 AM
Which room will you horizontal hustle in first?
Do you think you can do it in every room on the first night? These are the important questions.
Also, will you sell it like every other winner has?
Are you upset that there is no more affordable housing down here in the Keys due to overdevelopment of luxury housing?
Do you like all of the service industry and people handling your food coming in from a poor neighborhood 50 miles away each day because rent is so high?

I toured the house a few weeks ago while in the Keys.
First, Congratulations. Second, I really had a strong feeling it would be mine and if you're reading this, I'm not psychic.
Question: With the house being so beautifully decorated and perfect in every way, will you be able to live there without the fear of messing something up?
I couldn't let my husband live anywhere but in the dog house and he would have to wear the touring booties all the time!

We're trained in protecting individuals (like yourself) from lyme diseased people, people who want to throw church-related subjects to sweepstake winners (c'mon people...this is materialistic...), people who put you down for winning the luck of the draw, people who put you down for making a decision on what you do with your winning...we set really good booby-traps!!!

Just think, come hurricane season, there's only one way out, so when the next big one comes, batten down the hatchet and grab your jimmy buffet cd, your margarita blender and a shaker of salt and ride out the wave! Such a beautiful home you've won and what thought went into the furnishings and the appliances. Maybe we should take donations to pay the cost of winning It must be 1/3 value or less like $500,000. Then after that's taken care of, will you rent a room to pay the yearly taxes? I hope something can be devised. Maybe we can have a raffle for one or two weeks vacation to pay the taxes. Enjoy this lovely home. The Keys are a beautiful place and right on the water!

Do you belief that this prize was a gift from God? The Bible says:
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33) My advice to you is to live your best life, make time for the key relationships in your life--whether that is your spouse, your children, or your parents. People are God's most precious creation; so set aside quality time for the special people the Lord has in your life. Surround yourself with the right people and you can fulfill the dreams God gives you. Put yourself in relationships with people who are not only like-minded, but are also seeking to honor God in their own lives.
Reach out to those around you this holiday season and share His love and forgiveness with them. You are blessed to be a blessing to others!
God wants you to have a victorious and blessed life. Sometimes people think that an abundant life full of joy and blessings is waiting in heaven, but the fact is God wants you to have it right now! God wants you to be wise and blessed, and you don't have to wait until eternity to have a bright future! When you pursue God's wisdom you will find that God's promises are as bright as the sunrise. His promised blessings of happiness, fulfillment, favor and wisdom come when we receive them. If you want to have a bright future full of hope and faith, start walking on the path of wisdom today.
I have faith that God has a plan for my family.
I am going thru a divorce. I do not know what is God's plan for me at this time. But, I will keep waiting for my turn. Maybe one day I will have a house for my kids.
May God bless you and your family.

Posted by Patricia – March 13, 2008 5:45 PM
I would say: Congratulations...Dreams Do Come
True if we BELIEVE! You must have placed your
wish in God's hands and He felt like this
beautiful home should be all your's. Just please
remember to thank Him and then count your
blessings....as was written by Helen S. Rice...
"Each day there are showers of blessings sent
from the Father above, for God is a great
lavish giver and there is no end to His love."
Remember those words, because God was good to you
he is a great provider, and just know that He
still has plans for you with His great love...
Just rely on Him and Pray to Him and you just don't know what all is in store for you...this
house is the first now what will be next for YOU?
Enjoy this home and know that you are so lucky
to have it...it is in a wonderful place where
the gentle rain sometimes comes, and where there
is plenty of sunshine to enjoy and a beach where
you can go and just be "free" from it all!
Just appreciate the beauty of it all and then
you will recognize that God is a wonderful
God who has given us so much to look at and
enjoy...May God always continue to bless you...
and the very best in that new home of yours...
IT IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF AND TO KNOW
THAT IT IS TRULY YOURS.....

We are commuting every day to work and spending over 700.dollars in gas to get to work. We really are in need! We are a family of 5 with 2 vehicles that are ready to fall apart, both are 89, and 95 suv's and then I would say Thank you God for answering my prayers! God Bless! Lenita.

I'm personally shocked at how many have even blogged this site. Many people have seen this house every single day online. They feel like it is already theirs. And it definitely should be. Unfortunately, as you are winning many will be very upset to see you win, either because they feel upset they didn't win or that you (whoever you are) don't deserve it. Please when you do win, first be thankful, but don't forget the other millions who entered. Tell the people why you feel you deserve this. It might help millions others not be green with envy. Congratulations.

There really is a God....and yes, dreams do come to true. I hope that this will be a positive experience for you and your family, and you can share your dream come true with others less fortunate in one way or another. Possibly a bed and breakfast, or maybe a time share. Always believe that anything is possible and if you are the winner, enjoy it! This will be your chance to get a taste of paradise as you have never known it.
Congratulations, Bob and Suzanne.

Are you prepared to pay for winner taxes, land taxes, insurance (hurricane insurance can be very expensive, and absentee owners are prone to vandalism and theft) and evacuation routes based on location? If you sell, do you realize that the amount you finally end up with is worth the expenditure. Are you prepared to take time off from work to administer the property, including the cost of transportation over the course of ownership? Initially the winnings are wonderful, but after the glow is over, are you prepared to take the aftermath?

Do you really deserve this home ? There are so many people out there who are renting and have bad credit that will never have the opportunity to buy a home like myself. My credit score is
-700. Do you already own a home? Are you generous enough to pass the home on to another poverished family, or homeless family.

Posted by Nancy – March 16, 2008 6:06 PM
What's for dinner, honey?
Posted by Anonymous – March 16, 2008 6:54 PM
1) How did you enter the contest?
I suspect that there is a catch to winning, e.g., that online entries are not counted.
2) How many times did you enter?
I suspect that multiple entries are not counted, so entering every day does not increase your odds of winning.
3) Were you asked any questions before you were confirmed as the winner?
I suspect the drawing is not random, and that the winner must meet certain standards. They wouldn't want the bad PR of a winner who was repulsive or controversial in any way.
4) When & how were you notified?
Obviously, they are not notifying the winner on live TV because then they have no control over who is it, if they are home, what they will wear/say. They need to control all that, so I am sure it is all staged & set-up well in advance.
5) Do you realize that you can't keep the house?
No winner has been able to afford to keep the house. The only way you could afford to keep it is if you were rich enough not to need to win it.
6) Will you visit the house before you sell it?
I wouldn't want to see it. It would just be depressing to walk around it & know I couldn't afford to keep it or anything in it. I would love for the winner to cut through the bull and say, "I'm going to sell it immediately and I am not even going to look at it first. What's the point?" It's ridiculous to have a tour of the house, and the winner ooing and aahing over its features when everybody knows they can't live there. It's kind of sick, actually.
7) What will you do with the money?
This isn't a contest to win a house; it's a contest to win the money that the sale of the house will net after taxes. So, the real prize is whatever the winner can buy with that money.
Posted by Rowena – March 16, 2008 6:58 PM
Congrats! Enjoy! As Alys says "pay it forward".

Did Adda from West Palm Beach Fl have a better chance of winning the trip to Florida and the $5000 of flooring because she lived local to the prize location? I tried to win but I quess if you live in WI you didn't have a chance !!

Why did you not looked suprised? Hmmmm who has a birhtday party at 9 pm on a Sunday night? Why did you not seem excited? Why were you scratching your head the whole time? This was the worst HGTV Dream Home giveaway episoide ever. It would of been so much better if the winner would of at least looked excited to of won such a prize. When did you actually know that you had won? The TV audience is not stupid....We know you knew before the cameras ever entered your door!

Talk about some harsh critics. What a bunch of judgemental, egotistical, jerks. You have no idea what she felt, what the situation was, etc. I hope one of you that are giving her so much grief wins next year so you can see what it feels like to be filleted by people who don't even know you and weren't even there.

This was definitely not worth the wait. Something was not right about the whole situation. A b'day party that late....you leave your front door open and not locked that late..someone is allowed to walk into your living room without you knowing it. Humm...if you come to my house at 9:00 at night you will have to ring the doorbell to get in. You would never be able to get to the great room without me knowing it..especially a stranger. There was no excitement, no surprise..nothing. Oh well, congratulations to the winners!!

If your selling. let me know how much you want for it. However, would you consider swaping it for a 4000 square foot Mac Mansion on 2.511 acers 45 mins from Manhattan. Our home is in tip top shape & about 16 years old?
