Meet the Winner of HGTV Green Home 2012

We are proud to announce the winner of the HGTV Green Home 2012 Giveaway. Mary Jones from Katy, Texas, walks away with this year’s grand-prize package, worth almost $800,000.
Mary, formerly a substitute teacher, lives in Katy with her hubby Thomas, an oil company employee, and the couple’s peppy terrier, Bailey. Daughters Rebecca and Katherine recently relocated to Denver, Colo., and the Joneses planned to follow suit upon Thomas’ retirement. That is, until Mary won HGTV Green Home 2012. All roads may lead back to Georgia for this lucky couple. “It’s a great gift and a great adventure,” says Mary.
To watch as Mary receives the keys to her new home, tune in to the HGTV Green Home Giveaway 2012 special on Friday, August 17, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Cheers to you, Mary!

Congratulations Mary and family hope you enjoy the house. This was truly a blessing and to those who do not believe it is how can you miss what you never had. Nothing is promised so don’t give up I have been playing the lottery for three years and I have only won five hundred dollars and I don’t plan on giving up. You have to believe and have faith it will come. I’m not angry IR mad at the winners it just happens that way.
Enjoy the wonderful Green Home, Mary & family ! Best of luck to you and much happiness in the months to come.
Colezy, I saw a license plate in Nevada with the word Colez on it and thought of you. I have lots of good thoughts about you recently as you are cooking up a storm and trying to healthful recipes. If you have some time I hope we can catch up.
Janzee ! it is good hearing from you. Have you been traveling around?
Last weekend was a bloggers' virtual party at the DIY site for summer solstice…a barn dance in Maine at the Blog Cabin 2012 in the barn. I was hoping you'd stop by then ! LOL
Hi Mary and Thomas, congrats!!! Katy is a great place- a pretty quiet town as I can remember. For a retirement consideration, Serenbe is one fine fantastic community. I'm sure that you will have alot of family adventures to share, once you cross the threshold of your new home. Stop by and let us know how the green life in Serenbe is. You will love freedom of movement and cool breezes in your home, along with gorgeous green meadows, and flowers galore. Eco friendly everything will be the moniker. All the neighbors will welcome you with open arms, and you'll love the home grown restaurants. Best of luck and have fun. P.S. Monica, you are terrific, and love your style and grace. Every time I shop, I am still looking for that orange shirt you wore last year. As usual, I know you had a strong hand in every detail of this surprise and most graceful ambush. I can just Imagine Carol looking out of her window after dinner to see the flashing lights of HGTV. You done yourself pride, as they say in the South, and my best wishes to the gang at HGTV.
Congrats, to Mary and her family. I wish you and your family the best..
I wanted the 2012 Dream Home SO bad and was SO devastated not to win that I didn't dare get too excited about this one. (Still can't believe "MY DREAM HOME" is on the market…if I had the $$$, it would be mine!)
I never felt a "connection" to this "Green Home", but had I won it, I would have lived in it. I DO however feel a heartfelt "connection" to the Blog Cabin…and anxiously await entering daily! Congrats to the Jones Family…from a fellow Texan. You must be super excited at the thought of moving somewhere where WINTER actually happens and hurricanes aren't the cause of unplanned "vacations". AND…it sure would be nice if the winner joined us on the blog so we could "follow" them along…know their thoughts.
when does the blog cabin start , is it in Aug?
August 13th. You can sign up for email reminders at http://www.diynetwork.com/diy-networks-blog-cabin…
congratulations ! i pray god bless you and your family and i hope for a smooth transition. , georgia is a wonderful state . The weather is perfect. and I am stioll coming Lord will.
Yay congratulations Mary!!!! I am so happy to see such a heartwarming smile. Hopethis green home changes your lives, what a wonderful couple to win
It would be interesting to know how many men versus women enter to win. Also, what states are the majority of the entrants from. Not that it would make a difference.
Didn't a college guy win the one in Chicago?
How do you know that don't need it? Don't judge a book by it's cover.
They look like a nice, hard-working couple. What makes you think it's set up? I would guess that most of the people who watch HGTV are middle class or upper middle class. What's HGTV supposed to do? Tell you that you can't enter unless you live under the poverty line. Get over it. And by the way, you have no idea what their financial situation is (not that it matters. . .).
Yep.Actuall poor people never win.
