HGTV is proud to partner with the Beaches Museum & History Park, which will host public tours of HGTV Smart Home 2013. Tours begin on Friday, April 12 and run through Sunday, June 2. Wednesday through Saturday tours are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday tours are available from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis with limited availability each day.

The Historical Society operates the Beaches Museum & History Park, which comprises a main museum building with permanent and changing exhibits and a History Park with four historic buildings, including a circa-1900 post office; a circa-1887 historic chapel, St. Paul’s by the Sea; and a circa-1911 steam locomotive. Guided tours to school groups and other visitors are an important part of the organization’s educational mission.

  24. lol. I'm thinking of removing the one by the dining room and replacing it with shelves to hold my favorite dvds, the dvr etc, since there doesn't seem a place to put them otherwise (wonder if remotes will work thru the artwork screen?). Then middle tv for actual tv viewing, third one I think I'd replace with a touch screen computer for gaming…I can envision World of Warcraft battles on it nicely! lol

  25. I'm with you. Don't get that table – assume it was meant as a vanity since the mirror is right above it, but I'd get rid of it too. I have a chest of drawers with a hutch top with shelves that my father painted for me when I was a little girl that would replace it nicely :)

My bookshelves are going in the loft and the kids bedroom which I'll convert to my arts and craft room/library :)

  29. There is a gate in the back…fence is attached to back corner of the house….Gate is off that corner to sideyard. Path is across the creek from the house…You can access it but you have to walk across the next door lot to a bridge then the path curves back around the back of house on other side of creek. There is alot of overgrowth between the path and the house…there a a few breaks where you can see different parts of the house…You could probably see into the house from the windows at night but probably not very clearly.

  35. Every room feels fresh… but especially the bedrooms…you felt cocooned in comfort. There was quite a crowd, but even with the rooms filled with people you could still feel it. I don't think I've ever been in a house where the wall color was on the ceiling but I believe that helped with the cozy, comfortable feeling. Every detail is beautiful and the winner is gonna be blessed more than they could imagine….Done rambling…lol…work tomorrow….up @ 5AM….Good luck to everyone…

minitoni on April 15, 2013 at 2:51 am
  36. OK inside, it’s truly grand and what I am talking about is the scale of all everything. Most drapes are floor to ceiling. The chain lamps in the loft have HUGE shades and I never got that from the videos or pictures. The loft sofa was kind of a kiwi green leather and I believe I saw that it was a pull-out sleeper. While I looked in the closet in the kids room, probably 5 feet with shelving and hangers, I totally forgot to look in the guest bedroom. The master closet is a good size with built in shelving and hangers. The pantry is walk in, shelving on 2 sides and large pieces of artwork on one wall.

thankuspirit on April 14, 2013 at 6:42 pm
  37. From the deck you can hear the sound of a fountain in a pond on the other side of the creek behind the house. The rain barrels are great. There is a propane or gas line running to the grill from underground. While there is no easy access to the upper part of the garage, it has been stubbed out for pretty much everything you'd need. There are drip water lines going to the large planters on both sides of the living room/pool sliders. That was such a "Smart" idea because with the wide overhangs…unless there was a storm….rain would never reach them. There was a lot of smart thinking that went into this home.

thankuspirit on April 14, 2013 at 6:26 pm
    • Thanks for telling all of us about your tour! I would love to see it in person. I was wondering if you noticed how deep the pool was. It looks so beautiful!! Also can you see the fountain that they have in the pond from the pool area? I know from watching the HGTV Smart home special that you could see the fountain from the kids room. What a beautiful view! I just love this house!!

  38. Toured today and the house really was amazing. Missed the airing so I'm not sure what anyone wants to know. I'll just answer some questions I remember being asked. There is a gate off the garage allowing access to the canal/creek area. I read a comment about how peaceful the house is and I would have to agree. While most area builders knock down all the trees my hat is off and I am very grateful to the builders of the Smart Home. There is an old oak to the side of the property with branches that span at least 60 feet. The creek is on the right side curves around the back and there is a ton of vegetation. There are pine trees that must be 40" around with honeysuckle climbing almost to the top…the smell is amazing.

thankuspirit on April 14, 2013 at 6:25 pm
  39. I LOVE this home! But, where is the backyard where kids and pets can play safely??? I hope it's not postage stamp-sized. Or, no backyard at all if they assumed people would be out n'about in the neighborhood all of the time or down at the beach. Also, I can easily see inviting friends and family over for a party. But, within the house itself I don't see much space for actual storage (I wouldn't count the "storage" for surfboards above the vehicle in the garage). What about space for collections such as numerous curios or bookshelves fell of books and figurines/bronzes? Or, large fish tanks? Would be a beautiful place to win, though!!!

  40. Love this house! I was so lucky to see the different stages of the build ( from the outside only though). I walk dogs for one of the home owners in this amazing new community. It was pretty cool seeing it built. I would love to win it!

  44. I wish I could visit it but it's a long long drive for me and I have too much to do! But I would blog about the house and take lots of photos for those of us who couldn't go on the tours if I could go LOL too bad. I'm sure someone will do that for us. I have to look up what a paddle board is I no longer surf but I wish this house included beach cruisers instead of surfboards, that way you might make it across street. Is there an island in the middle of the big street that will allow you to take two light cycles to cross the street?

minitoni on April 14, 2013 at 3:23 am
    • I will have to find the address again but if I remember correctly the road that comes from the home and links up to the busy road. ….. There isn’t any place for a pedestrian to cross. It is like a MAJOR road just one step down from a freeway.

  50. What is it with these HGTV Homes not having closets in the bedrooms? I would expect a luxury home to have closet space for hanging clothes! At least put a wardrobe in the bedroom if there is no closet!

    Flo_Rida on April 13, 2013 at 12:26 pm
    • There are closets in each room they just don't usually feel like they need to show us the closets. I think the closet in the kids room is on the small size but they are all fitted out with closet organizers usually. The master closet is a walk in closet but we haven't seen a photo of it yet. You might want to go through the photos of each space and look for at least the entries to the closets. They show a couple of those like guest room and master bedroom

minitoni on April 14, 2013 at 3:06 am
      • They have very generous closets and so much storage space in the kitchen and laundry room. There is also a pull out under the stairs. I am sure there are so many other hidden things, too many that they can't show every inch on t.v… Amazing House!!

  54. I think – No I Know – I absolutely love the layout and bigger pool of this house. I like that the porch can be screened in and the upper garage can be made into a guest house or whatever. It would (will) be perfect for me and my family….I need a change!!! Absolutely love this!!!! The pool will help with my MS as well~ :-)
    Good luck all!!!
Ps… Kuddos to HGTV and their team – they never disappoint!!!

    MS98607 on April 11, 2013 at 3:19 pm
    • Yes this is a great house for those of us with health challenges, it could have ramps to enter and it has a great layout for those who are mobility challenged and the pool would be therapeutic for many of us! I would heat it and it would help a great deal for me! Or maybe I'd just use the pool for exercise at a normal heat and soak in the master bedroom tub for heat! Either way, this house is friendly for those of us with challenges and for those of us with family members with challenges. You're right! And the kitchen and everywhere is wide enough for a chair to traverse. This is a comment frequently on the blog too. Watch for it. None of us are complaining about this house! Lots of us would screen those porches too!

minitoni on April 14, 2013 at 3:13 am
      • You are right..many would benefit from this house. The layout is perfect and yes the porch needs to be screened in. That is the Southern way!!! :-) I am such a tech nerd that I just want to read all I can about it and I love reading drawings and schematics. I want to know more about the inner workings of the house. I noticed- like an attic access door in the guest bedroom I think? I wonder if it is a stair pull down type or if I am just dreaming. I would also like to see the upper level of the garage, so one can plan/dream of what it can be used for… :-)

    • Thank you, I am so excited about this home. The DH was dreamy but this one was made for us.
Would you move from rural living and hill country to flat land and LOTs of people?
The floor plan of this house and being almost handicap accessible would get me to move away from mountain views and small town living.
I guess you can tell I’m pretty excited about this home. Let the fun begin. (Actually Lessie has already started)
      Good Luck!

People do not bother me, I lived in Columbus Ohio before moving here. And I also lived in New York as a child. And I do not know if I could handle not having snow. But I do love the Smart Home and it would be a great home for anyone.

  85. Just one more day! Is everyone excited?!!!

Also want to share the 90/10 Rule. It goes like this: 90/10 Rules for all your happiness, prosperity and longetivity. Discover the 90/10 Secret – It will change your life. The 90/10 secret is incredible! Very few know and apply this secret. The result? Millions of people are suffering undeserved stress, trials, problems, and heartache. They never seem to be a success in life. Bad days follow bad days. Terrible things seem to be constantly happening.

Theirs is a life of constant stress, lack of joy, and broken relationships. Worry consumes time, anger breaks friendships, and life seems dreary and is not enjoyed to eh fullest. Friends are lost. Life is a bore and often seems cruel. Does this describe you? If so, do not be discouraged. You can be different! Understand and apply the 90/10 secret. It will change your life.

Lessie on April 10, 2013 at 10:41 am
    • What is the secret? 10% is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane may be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%!

How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light, but you can control your reaction. Don't let prople fool you, YOU can control how you react! Let's use an example. You're eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knowcks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you reaction. You curse.

Lessie on April 10, 2013 at 10:49 am
      • Words to live by !! 90/10 it is !! Now, everyone teach this to another & pay it forward !!!

    • What is this secret? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. You determine the other 90%.

You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the coffee cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your wife and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. An exchange of verbal abuse follows. You storm upstairs and angrily change your shirt. Back downstairs you find your daughter has been too busy crying in hurt to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your wife leaves immediately for work, upset and angry. (Menz!)

Lessie on April 10, 2013 at 12:41 pm
      • You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you furiously drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15 minute delay and throwing $60 (traffic fine) away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs to the building without saying good-bye.

After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse. You look forward to going home. When you arrive home you find damage and hurt in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why? All because of how you chose to react in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day? A) Did the coffee cause it? B) Did your daughter cause it? C) Did the Policeman cause it? D) Did you cause it? The honest answer of course, is D. You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds, which was entirely under your control, is what caused your bad day.

Lessie on April 10, 2013 at 12:45 pm
        • Here is what could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is feeling apologetic and sorry. You gently say with a smile, “It’s OK honey, I know you didn’t mean it.” Grabbing a towel, you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down, look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You and your spouse kiss before you both go to work. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on what a great day you’re having.

Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why? Because of how you CHOOSE to react. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% is determined by your free will.

Lessie on April 10, 2013 at 12:49 pm
          • Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 secret. If someone says something negative about you, let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don’t have to let the negative comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out, ruining relationships, etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound the steering wheel? Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them? Who cares if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the blue car ruin your drive. Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry.

Lessie on April 10, 2013 at 12:51 pm
          • You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep or get irritated? It will work out. Use your “worrying” energy and time into finding another job.

The plane is late. It is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant. She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passengers, etc. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now that you know the 90/10 secret, apply it and you will be amazed at the results.

  98. I was wondering about the hole to the 2nd floor/ceiling of the garage where the surf board are. Would that take way from making it a second floor room there? I mean isn't that taking up most of the second floor area, keeping one from making it a room up there? Beside not having any stairs leading up to it.
I think it would be a great place for an office, hobby room or guest room or even for storage for beach things, holiday decorations etc.
I was just wondering, by looking at the pictures that don't leave much room for a floor up there with that big hole taking up most of the floor/ceiling.

    home_girl on April 10, 2013 at 5:39 am
    • My thoughts exactly !! I was wondering about how to get up there !! It would be a perfect spot to store seasonal decorations !!

gremol on April 10, 2013 at 7:22 am
    • No problem to frame in that hole as you call it….the stairs would have to be built on the left side of building most likely….the great news is that its already wired and roughed in for plumbing.
It would make a excellent office…studio…storage or what ever room.
      Its 500 sq ft.

onemanpraying on April 10, 2013 at 7:45 am

  99. Really? I think the decor is awesome. I have young boys who love to skateboard so I was immediately impressed with the design Linda put together for the kids room. The colors are neutral and they say Florida without screaming it. I think the furniture in both the master suite and kids bedroom is understated but has a classy vibe.

latiamarie on April 10, 2013 at 5:06 am
    • I like the kid’s room a lot. It is a room anyone would feel comfortable in. I even like the skate boards on the wall. I would agree with you on the classy aspect on both bedrooms, it is just my hip and shins are taking a virtual beating. No worries a little rearranging and all is good.

  100. Good morning everyone!
Does anyone know the value of the house? I'm curious about the taxes for winning this prize. My family and I recently took our first vacation ever and it was to Cocoa Beach, FL. My husband and our boys loved the city and the people so much we pledged to one day make it permanent. So, natuarally I was blown away at the opportunity to win the HGTV Smart home and gift my family with a new life. It's nice to correspond with so many other hopefuls and to receive your input.

latiamarie on April 10, 2013 at 4:40 am
    • The value is usually posted in the official rules when the sweepstakes starts. Until then, you can guess a total prize package of $900,000 and add that to your current income to see how much income taxes you'd have to pay if you won.

      dreamn_again on April 10, 2013 at 7:12 am

Speaking of the floor plan it looks like there should be a linen closet in the Master Suite but I have not seen any pictures or a description regarding it. Any of you who get to go on the real tour please check it out. Thanks.

  105. I've been a little "down" on the interior design of this lovely home. Here's my up side list. Outside: The wild blue patio table – craaaazy, all the patio furniture, pillows and landscaping, the pool – shallowish (is that a word?) is ok with me, the windows and stacking doors blurring in and out. Inside: The living room and staircase cypress, couches and chaise, the most AWESOME fake fish ever (which I will gladly take off the hands of whoever wins it), the Big Ass Fan, the wood floors, the kitchen color, all kitchen appliances, the wall of Jacksonville fame in the gallery, the master bed, the light in the entry (oh that I could afford it!), every inch of the loft, the wild colors in the guest room, and the kids room beat-up chest with pillow top. A pretty cool house all around!

    ut4evr on April 9, 2013 at 4:31 pm
    • I forgot, every inch of the laundry room, too! Oh yea, the entire floor plan as well.

      ut4evr on April 9, 2013 at 4:32 pm

  106. Sandy LA and others have mentioned a need for office space. I need office space too. So I love the flexibility Linda's designs incorporate for all sorts of individual needs, whether a home office, book collection or hobby space.

Laundry Room: The bench could be removed and replaced with a small built in desk or craft table and ergonomic chair.
Living Room: I'd store one sofa, switch the two chairs to its location, add custom bookcases to the room and add a console table and chair behind the sofa. That would allow me to work via laptop at a "desk" in the LR.
Master Bedroom: I could replace the vanity with a library table and chair. And add bookcases to the short wall left of the door to the Master Bath.
Loft: I can see four ways to turn this space into an office. The idea I like best is to put a desk between the windows and facing the stairs. It's left side would be against the window wall. This leaves room for the green loft chair and retains the view of the cupola and all the loft windows. I'd store the sofabed.
Kids Bedroom: As I need office space for two, I'd store the kids furniture, but keep the rug and window treatments. I'd add two desks, storage and put the closet door back on for additional storage.
Garage: A large craft or potting area could be set up on one side of the bump out in the garage.

ChicagoBirder on April 9, 2013 at 2:52 pm
    • Oh to be young and strong.
I had not thought of using the Laundry room bench area for a desk. That would work.
In the living room, I like the idea of a table behind the couch. I’m curious which way would you be facing when you are at that table/desk, toward the dining room or toward the BBQ?

      Eugenia27 on April 9, 2013 at 7:12 pm
      • you'd hate this but I actually thought of using that huge pantry as an office but there are no windows! I'd have to build over the garage with straight stairs!

minitoni on April 10, 2013 at 2:46 am
      • As I love nature, I'd likely face outside.  However, I like the pattern of those chairs placed either way.  Regarding nature, just came in from a walk.  It's pouring in Chicago and some ducks have taken shelter in a neighborhood park.  Linda and the entire design team from concept, site, build, floor plans to accessories did an outstanding job.  The floor plan is the best I've seen in ages and is very flexible.  3 bedrooms plus the jumbo bonus loft = 3 br + an office.

ChicagoBirder on April 10, 2013 at 3:16 am
  107. With Linda's designs, it's easy to adapt the Living Room or Master Bedroom for generous book storage. The LR can hold table high (or maybe a bit higher) bookcases across the entire TV wall with room for accessories (like a shell collection) on the top shelf. I'd store one sofa and move the two chairs to its position to make room for this book area. And the opposite wall, the wall adjoining the pool can hold floor to ceiling bookcases about 3' wide on either side of the door to the pool area. Eugenia's library ladder would be perfect for these bookcases.

The MBR can hold floor to ceiling bookcases across the wall where the vanity is now.

To keep this short, I'll add a seperate message with home office ideas.

ChicagoBirder on April 9, 2013 at 2:21 pm
    • There is also the large art walls in the loft that could be book storage but I'd need to take the bookcases in the living room all around the TV's take up that entire wall with a header of bookcases just surround the TV's LOL. I'd move the little table in the master bedroom to the living room corner with the clamshell sconce and the turquoise walls and see about your idea of putting bookcases in the opposite corner. I think that might not be enough so I'd also finish out the upper level of the garage as an office and craft space with my messy benches in the garage but temporarily put an office space in the loft. Out Out out with those surfboards to make room. I don't need surfboards anymore! LOL

  108. I look for furniture that provides storage and is quality. The bedrooms don't have dressers and the closets seem small. Where do we store all our clothes? A cute bar for guests to put their clothes just doesn't work for me. And a fabric draped vanity isn't useful for me either.

    ut4evr on April 9, 2013 at 2:05 pm
    • I didn't understand why the bar was put in the guest BR. Just like the table at the foot of the bed in the Master BR. They just don't make any sense. And why have the fabric covered table? There is no storage and it sticks out too far.

      Eugenia27 on April 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm
  109. I'm sorry I can't add more. Again, we did not go right up to the Smart Home, but only looked at it from a distance. Like so many other blog enthusiasts, I look forward to watching the upcoming special to learn more!

    Good luck to all.

  110. No solar panels in the Behind the Build special that I just rewatched looking for new information. So this is not fully a green home but has many green features like less building material used and more insulation and tankless hot water and low flow fixtures. It's nice to know they thought of those things and of reducing solar gain where necessary. But they failed to take advantage of the solar opportunity.

  112. Have you ever noticed when you are reading the Bible; God says something and it is repeated, you know it is important. When something is said 3 time you really need to snap to attention.
So depending what the next signs OMP is waiting for, either he needs to enter for the home or enter for the car.

  114. To me quality is the most important aspect in furniture. I don’t care how cute an item is, if it isn’t built to my standard, I will pass.
I want to see if the drawers in those little chest s, are dove tailed front and back. Also was it constructed with dust covers between the drawers? I’d like to see how that yellow plaid finish was applied and are those chests real wood or press board.

    Eugenia27 on April 9, 2013 at 10:16 am
    • I'm with you and it doesn't say anything about these features nor does it show features like this on the website for the hgtv home furniture line.

minitoni on April 9, 2013 at 11:07 am
      • Too bad the people who take the tour can not open drawers. Someone needs to cause a distraction while "someone else" opens drawers.
If "Someone Else" gets caught maybe they will be disqualified and one of us will win!!!!

  117. I have not been able to get here until now, and that means I haven't seen any videos yet either.
The first thing I saw was a house that resembled other homes I have already seen. Yes it is
beautiful, and thoughtfully built, but lacking a place to set up a small office. I am happy that the
master bedroom is on the first floor (the main downfall of Midway). I am now off to view things!!!

SandyLA on April 9, 2013 at 9:17 am
    • The Guest room in midway was very impressive.

      Eugenia27 on April 9, 2013 at 10:37 am
    • You'll see this isn't a bad house but you're right nowhere to set up an office except in the loft space maybe! But this is a Smart Home and like the green homes they have fewer rooms although I was surprised that the DH this year had only 3 bedrooms also. We use our formal living room as office here but that also is not an option in the SH. Have fun looking around!

  125. I know from previous blogs that lots of folks prefer gas stoves over electric; my old stove went 'caput' & I had to buy a new one; I bought the radiant heat one & I love it !! So, in the past 5 years, we have replaced the a/c, refrigerator, washer/dryer, microwave, & stove !! All are Energy Star & it sure shows on my electric bill !!

gremol on April 9, 2013 at 8:19 am
    • We got energy star rated everything but wall ovens and it does show on the electric bill but the new gas range shows only on my gas bill as an increase. No savings LOL I'm cooking more because I like the new cooktop more! We still have to replace wall ovens eventually since we can't replace their walls inside any longer but we could have two years ago and will probably go for a unit much like what is in the smart home. We have to replace heavily used washer and dryer next which will help our energy bill too. They are only 10 years old but much more efficient units are available now. I wish we could have waited when our hvac unit went out but for health reasons it had to be replaced immediately and we couldn't get as highly rated a unit as I wanted at that time frame. We would have been without it for a week to 10 days in June and my health couldn't have survived that!

  127. But Lessie, even if you can manage to watch all three at once, sorting out which audio goes with each TV should really challenge your powers of concentration. I get confused just thinking about it. I'd rather have a nice sound system to play music, skip the TV, and read a good book.
Now my husband, I'm sure would love all 3 TVs, and find a way to make it work. Man cave heaven, all that's missing is a little fridge right along the Lazy Boy.

RitaANewYorker on April 8, 2013 at 9:13 am
    • The terrace is a good place for it. I had also planned on moving that table out of there. Funny, I had a spot picked out where it would be perfect but I can’t remember where I was going to put it.
Too much virtual furniture moving, I’m exhausted! LOL

  157. True story…..On my way to work this morning, I saw three GMC Terrains in the span of about 10 miles turn right in front of me. The highway I travel is not heavily traveled so this all made me go Hmm…..now here is the kicker…last night I dreamed that I was leaving the smart home driving a terrain.

onemanpraying on April 8, 2013 at 7:11 am
    • Remember how I said that God answers prayers in 2 ways? Yes, No and Wait. I’d say 3 GMC Terrains = YES. 3 cars, 3 letters in the word y.e.s.
OMP I think you need to enter this Sweepstakes.

I love the china cabinet and the informal trestle table with the parson's type upholstered chairs and the blue candlesticks and mirror on the table itself! Love the look. and it could be made more informal with the table stripped of all glass and put away and the curtains pulled back. So it's really very friendly. Love the dining room!

  170. I think the master bedroom is growing on me with the Hollywood Regency styling of the patterns of fabric and the restful colors. I really like it but I may have to remove the glass topped table to make room for books! I had a problem with the coral bedroom but even that is growing on me. . .it's not hot pink and it's not red and is becoming reassuring and restful also. The kid's bedroom art is cute but has to change, kinda like the surfboards have to go. . . .

    • Thank you for the info :) I love the home still. Changes can be good and I guess a smart home doesn't cost cheap to build it. The savings that we'll get in the future will be wonderful. I was wondering if they use solar energy to run all these smart features.

Lessie on April 9, 2013 at 7:56 am
  172. LLC, I think Linda went there because the DH MBR had a aqua/turquoise theme, and she didn't want it to look the same. It would be easy to change the accent color if the winner chose to do it. One thing has been consistent with Linda though, the Powder Room always has a shade of green in it. Possibly a 'signature' color for her?

MNLass on April 7, 2013 at 8:07 pm
  173. That's a good question about the earphones, gremol. But the 3 TV's doesn't really bother me. I'd have one set for the security cameras, one set for the Internet (Dreams Happen blog), and have one to watch TV programs (HGTV). Too bad there isn't one in the tricked out kitchen to set on the Food Channel! LOL!

I have a question about the tablets: is there really a tablet in every room or are they just staging each room for pictures using the two on the kitchen wall?

MNLass on April 7, 2013 at 7:45 pm
    • There are tablets all over the house but not all are the big white ones that Velcro to the board in the kitchen. There are smaller tablets that control ADT stuff in different areas. I'll watch the special again and look for the actual locations and for which ones are the carried ones from the kitchen and report back.

  175. Great idea if you substitute the Food Channel instead of the Animal Planet. Now if they had an Animal Food Channel it'd be perfect!

      • Actually, she likes to eat more than watch tv. She mostly sleeps in front of the tv, unless my husband is snacking. Since he tends to share with her, she watches him watch the tv. She may miss the programming, but will catch a crumb before it ever hits the floor. We should have named her Hoover!

AnneEliseSouth on April 8, 2013 at 4:56 am
    • As long as they don’t eat animals on the food channel it would be OK. Oops, I forgot, my dogs are not vegetarians.

  176. My thoughts exactly. I can live with it, but it's my least favorite room. About the 3 tvs I'm still confused, but I think it's a guys dream come true, maybe for watching multiple sports events. For me it'd be sensory overload, but the pictures are nice.

  178. What a GREAT idea!! This home is beautifully decorated in all of our favorite color accents. I can't wait to put in for this home. Plane tickets from CA to FL aren't too bad either :) yahoo!! How exciting for those who have tickets. What an incredible tour it will be to see all the details put into this home. Good luck everyone!

  179. I love the floor plan, pool and location. I could see myself using the Smart Tech to lock ALL the doors and program the blinds to keep out the hot summer sun.

    Eugenia27 on April 7, 2013 at 12:34 pm
    • Yeah, you have the right idea! Use the blinds and the awnings to keep out the summer sun and use the porches as cover. And the door locking would keep me from having to check twice at night because that's my bad habit. I check all the doors twice because I'm never sure I'm right and there are 9 doors here to check! I guess all that glass in French doors makes me a little bit paranoid even though we only use 1 of 6 sets of French doors as a rule and the other doors are just single doors they still need checking. But I hate when I set the alarm off because I forgot to use the little touch pad to turn it off in the morning! ADT touch pad is a great tool for us and we have remotes to turn the alarm on/off from outside because the garage door is alarmed too and must be closed to set alarm. So you'll be all set assuming you're the "someone else" who wins!

minitoni on April 8, 2013 at 3:00 am
      • I know with all those doors I’d become a basket case lying in bed wondering if I had locked all of them. Love that you can reach over to the pad and check/lock the doors. Sweet Dreams, no worries.

  180. Beautiful home! I am wondering if there is room on the property to build out so there are two bedrooms on first floor? I love the colors and the pool. Don't know much about the area but sure would like to live there and find out all the neat places to go. Keeping my fingers crossed for this one!

Ladny on April 7, 2013 at 12:31 pm
    • I don't think there is room unless you use part of the covered porch area and that would make for an awkward floor plan, they pretty much used up all the lot space that was available for the house and the way they have it situated there isn't much extra space to do that unless you could figure out how to use the patio pad space for a bedroom and connect it to the house somehow.

minitoni on April 8, 2013 at 3:02 am
  181. In looking at the maps this looks like the best lot. Few neighbors, the trail far enough back, quiet street and the most natural vegetation. Wish I were there!

    ut4evr on April 7, 2013 at 12:29 pm
  182. I heard Linda chose that green to be reminiscent of the green outside. I've never seen that particular bright green in nature, though. A bit bright for an otherwise restful bedroom.

    ut4evr on April 7, 2013 at 12:27 pm
    • The room needs some type of color I just haven’t figured out what color would work. I don’t think I have seen so many shades of beige in one place.
I like the shade of green of the orchid leaf.

  187. My husband and I traveled to Jacksonville recently. While there, we were able to take a quick drive over to Paradise Key. We did not go right up to the Smart Home, but looked at it from a short distance. We both agreed whoever wins this home will be truly blessed.

Today, I finally had a chance to look at the virtual online tour for the first time. Two words immediately come to mind: pure perfection. Linda, you have outdone yourself with this home.

I have already circled the start date on my calendar and can’t wait to enter! Good luck to all.

  189. This home is reeeallly nice. I love the usage of color used throughout the home. This one will definitely be a thrill. And the automated features for lighting, security, and energy consumption is a great feature! So extreme! I want this one! The dining room is AMAZInG!!! I love what they did by adding the curtains to surround the area for privacy. It makes such a wonderful and cozy feel.

  190. AES, I just looked at the living room again, I can live with it, but…the furniture is not situated to be able to watch the 3 t.v.s !! Some rearranging would be in order !! When I heard there was 3 t.v.s, I liked the idea, but now I have a question………do they come with earphones so that 3 people could all watch different channels ??

  191. A heart wrenching story to tell; a neighborhood 7 year old boy was playing in his yard when 2 pit bull mix dogs attacked & mauled him. He was clinically dead from blood loss when the EMTs arrived, they revived him, but he has since been in a coma. Woke this morning to the news that he passed away during the night. Local folks are having 'drives' to raise money to help the Family pay for burial & medical bills. I did not know them, they lived about 1/4 mile from me. The owner of the dogs allowed them to run loose & will probably be charged. It is so sad that things like this could be avoided if some people were more responsible ! My heart breaks.

  194. I am going slightly crazy over this home. Lol. The colors, the layout, the space and the views. Everything. The landscape suites me to a tee. For the first time in long time I really want to live in an HGTV smart home. This would be the one. Good job gals and guys~you hit the mark with a real winner. I am in love with the home I now live in but I think I would give it a chance to live in this one. A dream of a wonderful vacation home is in order. Most of all I can easily see myself living and walking throughout this house. It realy would be a dream come true. I dropped out of HGTV for awhile for I could not get excited about any of last two years of homes. But no more! I am going to read up everything about this one and catch up. Thanks HGTV for bringing me back to you. At long last a pot filler over the stove. That's the ticket.

  195. As hard as it has been, I avoided watching the progress of this green/smart home because I get so vested emotionally in these homes, it is disappointing not to get to come home to them. So, now that it is done, I am glad I didn't follow the progress because it is like getting to open another christmas present with each room – a surprise around every corner!!! It is sooo beautiful and peaceful and just plain (although there is nothing plain about it) beachy!!! This home is going to make whoever wins it very happy but selfishly, I hope it is me. This home feels like it was built for me and my daughters. Good Luck to everyone!!! great job HGTV!!

    densie66 on April 7, 2013 at 5:28 am
    • That's a good way to look at it. Except for Midway 2012, I don't get very attached to the homes and I don't follow the progress until the time when they are all done. If the person who wins is someone who has followed it from day one and loves every corner, and if they can live there, so much the better!

beehivestate on April 7, 2013 at 8:31 am
      • I think when I had allowed myself to become emotionally vested was during a period when things were rather bleak in my life and I needed something to hope for. These homes served that purpose rather well, and gave me the hope that things could be good in life again. Now, my life is once again good, and having this as the place to call home would just be icing on the cake!

        densie66 on April 7, 2013 at 10:24 am

  197. The windows in the loft open, the clerestory or tower windows don't, so you'd be able to get the same draw up the stairs for the loft windows because they're above the stairs. The smaller upper windows in the living room are also fixed. This info is gleaned from the behind the build special as well as the other sources we have. It looks like the windows that open in bedrooms and loft are 6 over single paned windows.

minitoni on April 7, 2013 at 4:01 am
    • When we first moved out into the woods, we had to haul in water; ever since I have gained a real appreciation for how much water can be wasted. I have a bucket in my shower to catch the water that would normally go down the drain (while waiting for it to heat up.) I use it to water my plants.
That is why I found it strange that there would be a remote so you could turn the water on from the bed. They give us water conservation hardware and then a way to waste water at the same time.

  200. I love the area of jacksonville florida, my niece lives there. her dad my brother passed away dec 1 2008 he was 48 years old same age as my mom, she passed away 2 weeks before my 16th birthday, never forget it, she had cancer and was buried on mothers day in 1988. i been taking care of dad ever since, and dad had cancer and beat it, thank God for that, still here with me. my niece she has a 1 year old daughter that had heart problems, her name is dawn and when she was born her heart was pumping backwords, instead of left to right it was pumping right to left, shes 1 year old now and still got several surgerys to go thur. if anyone here prays please keep her in your prayers, little dawn merie, named merie after my mom estele merie. 201. wow!!!

This is by far the most prettiest home yet! I entered so many times for the other one and prayed so much because a lot of families in my area are going hungry and homeless and i had plans that if i had won the last one the $500,000 check would have gone to build homes for the so many homeless in our area here in tennessee. there is a little place called mama from heaven food pantry, they give out food each thursday and each week the line just grows and grows, i was if i had won the last home in carolias i would have gotten a 100 dollar food gift card to a local store and had plans to give it out to each and every family in line, plus around christmas time i was gonna go to the homeless shelter and personally hand each family keys to a home, either a mobile home or a simple house but i was not chosen the winner again thus God had other plans for me i guess. i love the idea that its helping the local community by giving tours of this home. i tell you it is really beautiful, compared to what i live in a tiny 1967 camper but i have come thru some rough hard times but God has always helped me get thru it all.

  204. Looks like the house is on lot 15 (street name: Marathon Key) in the site map http://www.paradisekeysouthbeach.com/build/site-m… minitoni commented about a walking path along the side and back of the property. It is a community path that runs along both sides of the stream. You'll see it in the site map. It is grey. Google maps will take you all through this development, however, only two houses and the sales office were built at the time it was photographed.

    • I checked all, thank you for info. I am only afraid of wet areas near, ponds, for possible sinkholes growing there, after watching news this days.

Vesna on April 6, 2013 at 7:43 pm
    • It's so nice to see that there is a building on only one side of the Smart Home, even with the path that will make it seem more private and more quiet. Even with a path on one side of our home somewhere else it was quite quiet in the culdesac! Thanks for the direct link to the site map. So I was right the path goes along the right side of the house so direct access to it is really unnecessary for walking. So no need for gate in fence for access LOL. Thanks again! Toni

  205. I love the design of the house but I noticed that the furniture they used this year looks a little cheap compared with the past homes. I know that simplicity is the key for a green home but I think they could have made better choices. I still love it but I am not very impressed with the decor of it.

Manatee on April 6, 2013 at 2:12 pm
    • An interesting point, Manatee. Some of us have been redecorating the place virtually. My thought is, when you have a small line of furniture to choose from, in this case the two HGTV furniture lines, you loose some of the charm of a home. And I miss the simplicity of the late Green Homes. Not just in technology, but a smaller foot print all the way around. I like spending less and making due with less – simplifying life. However, there are parts of this home I find very charming. Especially the back decks. And I'll be watching to see if the Smart features of this home really would simplify my life or just make it even crazier than it already is.

      ut4evr on April 6, 2013 at 2:33 pm
      • ut4evr–I was also surprised by sprawling footprint– and disappointed with the Green Home tradition of less privacy—(better this year, but with a public walk path winding around the rear of the lot, residents could flash a lot of passers by–not just poolside, but changing in the bedrooms with shades/curtains open) LOL.

    • Ditto on the living room. Watch out for flying noodles.

AnneEliseSouth on April 6, 2013 at 12:29 pm
    • That would be a quick fix. You know how much Nebraska hates green bathrooms. The mirror in the Master is the same shade of green in the powder room, SO, pick the perfect shade of turquoise and repaint both the powder room and that mirror.

      Eugenia27 on April 6, 2013 at 12:29 pm
      • I'm right there with Nebraska, I do not like that green at all !! And I think the green frame on the Master Bedroom mirror is hideous !! I definitely would repaint it !!

    • Express away ! Not everyone will love everything about the decor. I am jump-roping with a very long wet noodle because : A) I miss the Ethan Allen furniture line and B) I guess the new style of decor features patterns –and I am already bored by them.

The feeling Linda may have been going for is cream/ beige, 'not to compete with views outside' and to be 'restful'. i agree with you, gremol that turquoise could be very restful in the right tones..now to try and raid the other rooms there for some decor-exchanging…

LLColeman on April 6, 2013 at 7:32 pm

I really like this Smart Home, but……get out the wet noodles, 'cause I'll probably take a beating……I'm not real crazy about the decor of the Master Bedroom !! There, I said it & got it off my chest !! I'm not caring for the design in the drapes or on the table skirt. It's just not appealing to my eye !! Let the whipping begin !!!!

gremol on April 6, 2013 at 8:24 am

    • I have to be honest, the first time I toured the Master Suite I felt let down. The more I went back it is growing on me. There is something relaxing about that room and seeing how it is where you sleep, relaxing is a good thing. Now for that skirted table. I just don’t get that AT ALL. It is in the way when you first enter the room. I would remove it and build book shelves there. (And add turquoise and a touch of purple)

      Eugenia27 on April 6, 2013 at 11:54 am
      • I agree. That first corner of that table is just about thigh-high, which means there will be a bruise for the first 6 months (or until the owner removes that table to get it out of the way.)

    KMuff009 on April 5, 2013 at 3:52 pm
  211. Something I keep wondering about is what you do when the power is out. I checked and Jacksonville doesn't have any more hurricanes than Charleston does, but there's always that stray storm or whatever that can cause a power outage. This house is gorgeous, but what happens to all the great extras when the power is out. Are there ways to manually open the windows (you won't have an AC)? There's a gas stove so you'll be able to cook, but can you turn on the faucets or flush the toilets without power? Raise or lower shades? Just wondering. We need to get someone to volunteer as a docent so that they can find out these things.

MTGSC on April 5, 2013 at 2:48 pm
    • I had the exact same questions. The more you are dependent on the grid the bigger the odds of being S.O.L. when the power goes down. I had hoped there would be solar power, at least that way you would have battery backup to help with the essentials. I hope Mary and the HGTV lets us know.

      Eugenia27 on April 6, 2013 at 7:22 am
      • It's prob like the elevator… you have to retro-fit that yourself if you want it.

beehivestate on April 7, 2013 at 8:35 am
        • I have a horrible feeling that to retro fit everything you need to put in the solar panels that will be able to run all that electronics it will cost as much as that elevator.

      • how can we swim in 4 or 4.5'? it is shallow. I don't know why not to build deeper to plunge.

Vesna on April 5, 2013 at 5:12 pm
        • On the TV special “Behind the Build” they mentioned something about the water table and the creek that is so close by.

          ut4evr on April 6, 2013 at 7:35 am
          • Oh, thank you for the photos. The pool is very shallow, looks to me no more then 3 ft.
I would love to have deep pool – for real swimming experience.
Anyway, the house is beautiful and pool is very nice refreshing and decorating feature.

Vesna on April 6, 2013 at 7:10 pm
          • The pool is at least 4 feet deep at deep end from watching the men full sized inside it during build special. So it's deeper than it looks from the surface!

minitoni on April 7, 2013 at 9:21 am
          • Olympic swimmers are usually tall (that long arm reach is needed) So my thinking is that if an Olympian can swim in that pool, us mere mortals shouldn’t have a problem. I know that I would not want it any deeper than it is. My brother has one and when you are swimming against those jets it is a REAL workout and for me when I was exhausted I went to stand up (because of the jets) the water was above my nose. Nothing quite as embarrassing than almost drowning in 4 ½ feet of water.

You better be ready to go in a hurry because If he is wise, he will have you on your way to the tour, so fast you might not have time to grab your purse. :)

  214. With that wonderful Toto toilet in the powder room my guess is that the 19 kids and grandkids will be lining up to use that particular room even though there are 2 additional bathrooms upstairs.

    Eugenia27 on April 5, 2013 at 8:47 am
  218. Hey Lessie, when you talk to Linda W could you get her to figure out where I could put all my books. Everyone here on the blog has given me great ideas that I plan to implement as soon as I move in, but I just thought you could get her input.

    Eugenia27 on April 5, 2013 at 8:41 am
    • I would hope that the winner gets a consultation with Linda W, Hey HGTV maybe that is something you can add to these homes, a consultation with Linda W so we know how to integrate our favorite belongings into the décor of the home. Of course we wouldn't mention the giant clam sconces or the fake (thank goodness) marlin in those consultations? For example I have a 4×4 foot plus antique quilt top framed that needs a home–Stairwell maybe? And my quilt from bee would really warm up that living room! But A real consultation would be wonderful. Of course we wouldn't be bringing all the antiques but we would definitely bring some colorful glassware and a few small sculptures and BOOKS! Definitely need a Linda W consultation!

minitoni on April 7, 2013 at 4:36 am
      • HGTV should throw that in the winning package. I know Linda is a busy woman but there is always a time lag between the winner being chosen and the winners walk through. That gives the winner plenty of time to figure what they would bring to the home. I would need her to help me totally rearrange the living room. I like to face the TV and my husband needs his recliner yet somehow the view to the pool needs to be kept. (That’s why Linda makes the big money and she never has to worry that I’d try to take her job away from her)

      • Oh I’m still #1 and plan to move in as soon as I get the keys. I just didn’t want to crawl up on that roof to install the solar panels.

        Eugenia27 on April 5, 2013 at 8:39 am
  222. I guess that is why you have to get the shower started before you get out of bed, because of how long it takes for the hot water to reach that end of the house. :(

    Eugenia27 on April 5, 2013 at 7:28 am
    • Now, I wouldn't bet my life that they are the heaters…but they sure look like them and I saw a show once on "this old house" where richard installed some sort of transfer valve device in a two story house that cut down the time of the hot water delivery to the upstairs bath….so I wouldn't worry too much about waiting for hot water or wasting water.
I bet its all good to go.

  230. This is a beautiful home and a great place for entertaining family. I'm just wondering If when the family (all 19 children and grand children) gathers for a day of fun in the sun and BBQ, does everyone have to go potty in the Master bathroom?

Vesna on April 4, 2013 at 8:07 pm
    • We really don't know somewhere between 4-5 feet is approximated by watching behind the build.

minitoni on April 5, 2013 at 3:25 am
  233. Question: If the space above the garage is converted into a room, how much work will be required to complete it? Also, is there a way to connect the converted room to the main home or will it be a stand alone guest suite, complete with kitchen?

Lessie on April 4, 2013 at 2:53 pm
    • I already answer that question on the former blog….in which I'm still be on.

onemanpraying on April 4, 2013 at 3:25 pm
      • One, why are you making me work? Just post the answer here and I'll read it. Don't complain that you're repeating yourself because we all know preachers repeat themselves every Sunday. It takes some people longer to digest their messages. Pretend I'm one of the slower digesting people in your congregation and do what you normally do, say it in a different way. :)

Lessie on April 5, 2013 at 5:44 am
    • We really don't know but based on past history there could be rough in for water, bath kitchen and electricity rough in up there. I'd have to take a look at the garage walls again to see if anything runs up there. But we really don't know. Behind the build show didn't tell anything. But it could be done easily if the garage isn't dry walled. I'm going to run back to the last blog and check. If it is drywalled I would assume they planned for a mother in law suite up there which means I could have my studio/office space up there! See last blog for more detail Lessie.

minitoni on April 5, 2013 at 3:28 am
      • Thanks Mini. Will check out the last blog.

Lessie on April 5, 2013 at 5:46 am
      • Read my last blog post from the previous blog….I found the pipes of the rough in….

onemanpraying on April 5, 2013 at 6:02 am
    • The interior of the garage is finished top to bottom which implies that there is power out there somewhere. This would be a question to ask someone going on the tour. I don't think you could connect it to the main house easily as it is set back. It would be a stand alone room/suite. Don't know what utility connections are in there but if it follows the pattern (and nothing does does it surfboards instead of bikes?) of the last there should be roughed in utilities up there somewhere as many would like to make it an office or man cave or studio/office like I would like!

minitoni on April 5, 2013 at 5:34 am
      • So glad it's a stand alone. That's the best kind of addition! :) Exactly what I need!

Lessie on April 5, 2013 at 5:48 am
  234. Chef, do you have any great punch recipes or dishes for a baby shower?

Lessie on April 4, 2013 at 2:28 pm
  235. Mary, please take extra special care of my home during the tours. I want everyone who visits to love it, but from a distance! If you'd like, HGTV can send me a round-trip ticket to ensure docents are as great as the ones for the Dream Home. Wouldn't want this wonderful home to receive anything less!

Lessie on April 4, 2013 at 1:41 pm
  236. I have a question for whoever goes on the tour…
Does the home have tank less hot water? What I don’t understand is why would you want to turn the shower on from the master bedrooms remote, just to heat the water in the pipes, yet at the same time have low flow fixtures so you don’t waste water?

    Eugenia27 on April 4, 2013 at 11:58 am
    • Eugenia, I think my new home has a tankless water system. I distinctly remember telling Jack I wanted one or two. BTW: Jack told me his goal when building this home was to make me forget ALL previous HGTV/DIY homes! Initially, I thought he had a small crush on me, but I discovered he was just super excited about me finally owning an HGTV home. Can't say I blame him since I felt the same way. Jack's an awesome man! Visionary, detailed, great listener, respectful, and a wonderful family man. Will tell you about my conversation with Linda later.

Lessie on April 4, 2013 at 2:27 pm
      • ROFL! Lessie, we really need to get your meds adjusted, sweetie. You know the owner of any home is whoever's name is on that entry. Jack can't be building you one for your own purpose, but I do love, love, love your optimism.

MTGSC on April 4, 2013 at 3:17 pm
        • MTGSC, you're absolutely correct…normally. HGTV hates playing favorites, but in this case, they just couldn't help themselves. L.W. (that's right, the wonderful Linda Woodrum herself) assured me that she decorated this home with me in mind. She couldn't wait until the tour to get my response. After reading all my responses, she knew she'd done a great job. I offered her a week's stay at my new home, but she declined because she's in the process of working on another HGTV home. She's so sweet. We're "heart" twins. :)

Lessie on April 5, 2013 at 5:35 am
    • I went back to the feb 21 pics that gary redding posted and the home has two tankless systems mounted outside in back of garage by the a/c units….they are on the wall. So the answer is yes.

onemanpraying on April 4, 2013 at 3:44 pm
      • Wouldn't that be an odd place to put them, so far away? Are you sure they aren't related to the solar panels? Wait, did we get solar panels? Come to think of it, I don't recall mention of them. Is that possible? Wouldn't be very Smart, would it?

        Addy243 on April 4, 2013 at 6:24 pm
        • They look like tankless heaters to me…in the pics.

onemanpraying on April 5, 2013 at 5:59 am
      • One, that's the same thing Jack told me. :)

Lessie on April 5, 2013 at 5:35 am
        • I'm sure glad that you are an insider with jack and linda…..it makes life so much easier… :-)

onemanpraying on April 5, 2013 at 6:00 am
    • Defi9nitely has tankless hot water mounted in service area on wall behind master by pool equipment. So yes, it would be basically pointless to turn on shower from bed! A waste I agree! But a cool feature in any case. But no solar based on observation of behind the build, just smarter about being able to watch energy consumption so probably won't be certified for LEED.

minitoni on April 5, 2013 at 3:29 am
  237. I am glad the tours are starting and benefit the community.
I am going to start asking questions for the tour goers now!
    1. Exactly how big is that pantry they show us a glimpse of off the mud/laundry room? That might solve Eugenia's problem!
    2. Which of the window upstairs in the tower and loft areas open? Any or all? How about Cupola?
    3. How green is this home? Does it meet LEED certification standards? I haven't heard that mentioned yet
more to come and thanks to all you tour goers who can answer questions.

minitoni on April 4, 2013 at 11:45 am
    • Doesn’t LEED have more to do with using local building material and less to do with how little you will end up paying for utilities? (I don’t know, that is why I’m asking)

      Eugenia27 on April 4, 2013 at 11:55 am
      • LEED is a point, or credit rating system used internationally. Criteria include site selection, water efficiency, energy, atmosphere, materials and indoor environment. Here's a link to their basic criteria: http://new.usgbc.org/leed/rating-systems

ChicagoBirder on April 4, 2013 at 12:20 pm
        • Thanks, there is a lot of great info. I added the link to my favorites

          Eugenia27 on April 4, 2013 at 1:04 pm
        • Thanks for the link! We don't have solar or any other off the grid features although lower consumption of energy would be assumed with the tankless water heaters and the insulation ratings from behind the build. And the pool is salt water instead of straight chlorine which helps environmentally. But without solar I can't see LEED certification. Just an energy smart home because you can watch and monitor your usage. It is highly electrified and the alarm system must pull a lot of energy with all those cameras unless they aren't running unless you look at them like ours from ADT do, they only turn on if you look at them from a tablet or you have an alarm event.

Lessie on April 5, 2013 at 5:50 am
  242. Thanks! That was me. From what I saw on their website, it didn't reverse (and it's really possible I missed the information.) Having a ceiling fan that can reverse, especially something this size, is important because it affects how the air in a room can be manipulated (hot or cool) for comfort.

MTGSC on April 7, 2013 at 5:46 am
  243. THAT's where I wanted to put it!!! Thanks.
I sometime think Linda picks out all the furniture, and like me forgets where she planned to put it.
That can be the ONLY reason that table was put at the foot of the bed.

    Eugenia27 on April 9, 2013 at 10:35 am
  244. As we discusssed in an earlier blog Eugina, I like the MB, but I also do not get the table and plant at the end of the bed; seen out of place with the decor. I agree with minitoni, I could see myself banging my legs and toes into it. I would put it outside, next the the chairs in the MB terrace.
