Wake Up Inspired Every Single Day

Does that sound like a tall order? Maybe not, if you take your cues from HGTV Dream Home 2016, which was designed to keep its occupants in a vacation state of mind.

The first thing you want to do—if you can swing it—is wake up to a view like this one:

HGTV Dream Home 2016

Okay, so everyone can’t have a spectacular waterfront vista outside the master bedroom window, but you can take a page from interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn’s playbook if you want to create the idea of a sweeping view in a room where there is none. In the living room, Brian had a historic photo of the home’s Merritt Island location blown up and printed on vinyl bus wrap—voila, instant wallpaper. You can do the same thing yourself at home using a custom mural or wall decal company—a soothing nature scene would be ideal for the bedroom.

HGTV Dream Home 2016

Speaking of bedroom décor, a little glamor makes it easier to peel those sleepy eyes open in the morning. You’ll wake up feeling like the queen (or king) of England if you invest in some sumptuous pillows and replace your boring bedroom light fixture with a striking art-piece chandelier:

HGTV Dream Home 2016

And don’t forget to usher in your day softly with a Spotify® playlist of gentle tunes or lively jams if you can handle that sort of thing before coffee. HGTV Dream Home 2016 was outfitted in every room with sleek wireless Bose® speakers that are as much about form as function:

HGTV Dream Home 2016

The speakers can communicate over Wi-Fi® or with any Bluetooth®-enabled device in the house to play music from the Internet or your own music library instantly and fill each room with crystal-clear sound.

Add a vase of fresh-cut flowers and the day is worth waking up to:

HGTV Dream Home 2016

A note of caution: starting your day this way may cause you to stop leaving your house.

This post is brought to you by Bose, a proud sponsor of the HGTV Dream Home 2016. You’ll find innovative Bose products featured throughout this year’s HGTV Dream Home, bringing each room to life with quality sound. Dreaming about better sound for your home? Visit Bose.com.

  1. Can anyone tell me the actual colors in this home? I have looked over the whole site, and I see comments about turquoise, coral, poppy, etc, but no mention of the actual colors. I want to use these in my house!

Zune and iPod: Greatest people today review the Zune in direction of the Contact, nonetheless immediately after looking at how slender and astonishingly very little and light it is, I just take it to be a as a substitute exclusive hybrid that brings together attributes of either the Contact and the Nano. It truly is very vibrant and magnificent OLED screen is marginally smaller than the contact screen, however the participant alone feels reasonably a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs around 2/3 as a great deal, and is drastically smaller inside width and height, despite the fact that staying exactly a hair thicker.

My husband and I are senior citizens on a fixed income, though we live in Florida and we have a house or actually the bank owns the house(Quicken Loans) we also dream of a place where all our kids and grand kids and great grand kids can come and enjoy it and the surroundings. We also like the idea of a new car. for ours is a 1997 Mercury Grand Marqui and lots of mileage. It is a beautiful house and Merritt island is a beautiful city. I had visited a church there for a Women retreat a few times. Calvary Chapel is the name for anybody that is interested. We will like to live whatever time we have left like if we are on an extended vacation. We thank you for the dream of winning such a beautiful house, even if is just a dream.

We both grew up in Compton CA. and moved here to the magical central coast (near Pismo Beach) in 1970 and never looked back. Since we are also in the building business we have a keen respect for all of the care it took to build this beautiful home. I would feel so honored if we won this Dream Home. Thank You for all the hard work and efforts! Delores

  91. Last night I dreamed that I won this home! Sure hope dreams come true–it is gorgeous and perfect for us. When I have entered this contest in years gone by my intentions were to sell them–and buy something in the Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach area. Won't have to sell this one! Our plan is to leave snowy PA and head there in 3 years. WHEN my dream comes true ;-) we won't have to wait! I can hear the waves lapping at the dock now….waiting for the phone to ring! Thanks to all who participated in the creation of the beautiful home. (Although I haven't told the cat that it includes a dog house….) I think this is the nicest one ever!

  100. My husband laughs when I tell him and all of my friends that we are going to move to Fla. when I retire this May from working 32 years for the school system. He retired two years ago and after signing all of my retirement paper last week, we laugh at how much we will have to live on, but I keep telling him not to worry because we are moving to Fla. in a beautiful home and we will not have to wrap in blankets to keep warm because of not having heat in our car because we will soon be riding in a new car that we will win soon as well. Everyone goes alone with my dream and we all smile and next year once again as I have in the past will enjoy looking at my dream home and keep enjoying my dream. Good dreams always make you happy!

  110. its -12 here in NH and friends are in our Ft Myers home so I'm spending Sunday morning redesigning if I won…first and foremost removing the "sticker" photo from the wall – which will hopefully only require painting when done. Next 60" Tv goes on wall (BPF just hit the floor)…rearrage so that one sofa has its back to the front door, the sofa table will go behind it or under tv. Other sofa moves back accordingly. Coffee tables out for bid along with other uncluttered items. Chairs go to either side of the TV leaving a clear view of outside. Dining room 2 plants by windows moved, table turned so access to/from garage is restored. Covers removed. Hideous circle painting out on curb. Lighting will need to be turned and replaced. Kitchen — well I know I'll be grouching about dishwasher and sink being in the wrong spot for unloading or for cooking (not convenient for filling pots with water!!) and I HATE the ugly walnut veneer so will need to eventually replace with quality white. The three bureaus may get replaced with a table or top so that this become a working desk area with a beautiful view…Don't really need all those drawers. Media room furry cubes go!! Wall gets simplified to one or 2 pictures. Lamps get removed or TV gets mounted so it can be seen. cage or screening on outside door — Hello we're in FL things slither or skitter into the house!!

  116. This home in Florida is perfect for my sisters and I as we are getting ready to retire together. I have dreamed of a place like this and have studied every room so closely thanks to the 360 degree photos that I am certain I could walk in there blindfolded and know exactly where everything was! But seriously, I have dreamt that this my home! Power of positive thinking!…..(and entering twice daily online ; )

  118. I'm telling all my friends to enter to win on FB!!! My bestie from Colorado visited me last December for the Holidays because I live in Naples, FL but we have a really small two bedroom house with a bathroom that is part of our laundry room. And, our backyard…yikes! HA! Our house is cute — at least I think it is, but I would love to wake up in the HGTV Dream Home on Merritt Island and invite my friends! And, we have an old boat, but it hasn't ran for two months. :( We were going to take our friends fishing, and we couldn't get it started. Gotta rebuild the carburetor. We had a BLAST with our buddies, but it would be great if one of us won this dream come true. We are from Colorado and moved to FL three years ago for the ocean life style and have a lot of family and friends back in CO complaining about the snow. Fingers crossed for all of us!

  120. I'm a 1971 graduate of Merritt Island High, stayed in Florida for my college education through the masters degree and moved to Texas for job opportunities. I came back to take care of my mom about 15 years ago( she had a small home on in Merritt Island) in the final stages of lung cancer. After her passing and our retirement from Texas education,I convinced my husband to move to Florida for the beautiful palm trees and ocean breezes. We currently are in Hollywood Beach but are yearning to get back to Indian River and the dolphin sightings! With lots of grown children and even more grandchildren, my husband is all in!!! Good luck to all who have entered!

  121. This house is on a lake not a beach. Why not lake life and not beachy. The surf wallpaper would be great if house was beachfront but on a lake??? Why not a great lake picture.

Patty on February 12, 2016 at 10:49 am
  122. I have made the maximum amount of entries every day from every source available, dreaming away of this gorgeous home in the most perfect of locations. I've entered sporadically over the years thinking that if I won, I'd just sell it. THIS is one house that I would do everything possible to be able to keep it and live there forever. Our daughter and grandchildren live an hour away and Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach is where we have planned to retire for years now. Winning this house would make that possible sooner rather than later. I have been off work while receiving chemotherapy for a recurrence of breast cancer, so it has been fun dreaming of winning… Fingers crosses as the day approaches!

Do y'all expect whomever wins this home to just get all their stuff dry cleaned or to just live out of the suit cases?

    Jo-Ann Fleishman on February 9, 2016 at 7:42 am
  138. On the other hand, the winner could just follow tradition – sell the house and toys, pay the taxes, and pocket nearly $1,000,000. Park that in mostly tax-free bonds (a little equity for some growth) and you'll generate enough cash flow to pay the mortgage, HOA, etc. on a pretty nice beachfront condo in FL. With interest rates still at historic lows, you'll look like a genius 10+ years from now for locking in a 30-year fixed using other people's money while your money is slowly but surely minting you tax-free income for the rest of your life.

Brian on February 9, 2016 at 7:06 am
    • Payout on the cash prize is 1,250,000. Taxes (federal) on that is about $500,000 (39.5%). State taxes are on top of that (they want a cut too). So, you are actually pocketing about 600,000. Still, good pocket change to invest.

Jennifer on February 15, 2016 at 11:11 pm
  139. What DG said – no winner of the HGTV Dream Home has been able to keep the home because of the tax consequence of winning the sweepstakes. The federal taxes on the non-cash portion of this year's prize will be about $450,000. The problem with winning cash is that it's taxed too, so you need enough cash award to not only pay the $450,000, but also the taxes on the cash award itself. To break even, HGTV and/or sponsors would need to pony up another $550,000 cash, in addition to the existing $250,000 from Quicken. It would be nice, indeed, if just once, a dream home winner could actually live in the dream!

Brian on February 9, 2016 at 6:54 am
  140. Sense NO one in the history of HGTV has been able to keep their Dream Home yet. All because of the taxes and fees. It would be the most Amazing 20th Dream Home season if HGTV or one of their sponsors paid the taxes and fees so the winner will be able to live in the home instead of just Dream about it.

    D.G on February 9, 2016 at 2:14 am
    • In the very early days a winner kept hers for a few years and used it as a rental.

We didn't used to get any money as part of the prize package. They include it now so people can deal with some of the financial consequences. It really is an amazing astonishing prize.

OCO on February 8, 2016 at 1:58 pm
    • I was looking at the living room video earlier and here you noticed it today as well. It was the first time I saw the tortoise and realized it just had to be a sign as i have 12 California Desert Tortoises. They live a long time, I have 6 who are 10 years old (babies of the older ones) and another 6 that are between 75 and 150 years old. I inherited them from my mother who had some since childhood and a couple that were old when she received them. We have had as many as 40 when i was growing up. I also have 4 large Red eared slider turtles in my back yard pond. I could not believe it when I saw that tortoise this morning. Some of mine woke up from hibernation today as it is beginning to get warm, high of 87. I was hoping the cool weather would remain another week for the LA Marathon next weekend. It was way to hot during my run today. Keep dreaming everyone :)

    • I try especially hard for the Beautiful Florida Homes also. Actually I only comment and Blog on the Florida Homes because they are extra special aren't they. Plus I am sure the HGTV crew like to build there since it is nice throughout the year. –The time is getting closer, whose gonna win?

Thanks HGTV for this fabulous home and GREAT LOCATION! I would be able to spend time with my brother and nephews and sister in law for the first time in 10 years! THAT WOULD BE HEAVEN!

  162. Entranced with the feather in the frame and the duvet in the master. Both seem luxurious and tranquil.

  163. When my husband was an Air Force lieutenant, we were stationed at Patrick AFB at Cocoa Beach for almost 2 years. I woke up to a gorgeous view of the Banana River every day but you may be sure that our 2 bedroom government house bore absolutely no resemblance to your beautiful HGTV Dream Home !!! It would be wonderful to have that amazing water view and the house to match.

Beverley Millians on February 8, 2016 at 12:04 am
  164. I love this home and Merritt Island! I lived in Orlando and visited Merritt Island, let me tell you, there is so much to do and all the folks are so nice, how could you not be?….lol
I have to say, I have never been a fan of mixing metallics (type A personality…lol) but the more I watch the Kitchen video, the more it grows on me, and who doesn't like variety!!! :)

  167. Year after year when I look at the HGTV Dream Homes I fantasize on how great it would be to win one. As a kid I use to be so lucky but as an adult and life happens, I guess my luck has run out when it comes to entering contests. So winning this beautiful home would be too unbelievable. I love every aspect of it to include the tree-lined driveway entrance. So good luck to the lucky winner (me :-) !!!!! This home is spectacular!!!

  168. Beautiful is all I can say! I love property with a view and HGTV never disappoints. I can imagine myself sitting outside enjoying the view of the dock and the water. What a dream!

  169. Getting ready to retire. This would be such a wonderful retirement home. Can't get enough of this house. So many of my friends here in Ohio would LOVE to come visit me at that house. I love boating, and so do they. This would be perfect for me and my family….

myckki on February 7, 2016 at 6:29 pm
  170. OH HOW I WISH, I WISH UPON A STAR….I also pray at night! Did you know NO ONE from my state has won a Dream Home that I know of, I will have to do more research on that. :( — But HGTV, how did you know this is where I WANT to live?! I have been scoping out this area now for many years, wishing, dreaming, praying.— There are charming, wonderful, homes there in the Merritt Island area. And the area is the BEST in the continental USA, for sure! You have made this Home VERY Desirable, it is GORGEOUS! The only thing is…..whats up with the Black Spray Painted Circle that is dripping black paint down on it?! I love EVERYTHING ELSE!— We rented a vacation home in this area for a couple weeks…I didn't want to leave! NASA is nearby, great employment that my family can without a doubt jump into and adapt to living there quite easily! Fishing off the dock every night, taking the boat out for water skiing, doing laps in that AWESOME pool, are all necessary in the outdoor areas of a Dream Home giveaway. I don't think you can top this home…TRUTH! You could Never top this Home- but you have to build one next year, how will you do it? You have included Everything a family needs, it is Very Desirable. Don't stop building in Florida; Florida is Gods gift to the USA.

    • waterspout ,

What a nice posting, enjoyed reading it. Do what I will do if I’m blessed to win this gorgeous dream home & sell or donate and use as a Tax write off , all the things you don’t like or replace. That big circle picture and most of the art for me would have to go. I have my own art to hang on the walls and if I need anything for a particular wall then I will go shopping. Agree with you on it being hard to top this Dream Home, especially its setting.

I’m like you, praying and waiting on a promise to be fulfilled. Waiting longer on a promise than Abraham & Sara had to wait, that’s hard. Nuff said. :)

Never been to Florida yet, only by way of the internet, but do agree with what you said about it.
Good luck, keep dreaming & praying.

OCO on February 7, 2016 at 8:30 pm
      • If I win (only in my dreams!) You can come hang-out with us! That is funny/crazy about Abraham and Sarah how long you have been waiting. I was laugh when I read that! Love is patient and enduring huh? But we know who has the best mansion right?! I can't wait for my Fathers House that has many mansions within it.– I CAN'T WAIT! I CAN'T WAIT, to see what the Lord has in store for those who Love him….Did you notice what looks to be "Crosses" in the window panes of the living room? The way the doors/windows are set-up, makes it look like 3 huge crosses that you stare out and through to the backyard. My husband pointed that out to me. Someone is going to be "Seriously Blessed" with this home. I'm jealous already! I want Florida…and you HAVE to go someday! Otherwise see you in that other "Big Mansion" someday, ok.

        waterspout2013 on February 7, 2016 at 9:54 pm
        • waterspout, oh, I'm excited to talk to you!! Yes, love is patient & enduring. Boy is he working something out in me/us to wait so long. Yes, :) I, we have a mansion and it's the best of the best! I'm smiling as I write to you. I did not notice the Crosses in the window panes, will have to go back and look for that.

I'll either get to meet you in Florida some day or see you on the other side. :) cry..>>> Happy tears.

          • :) Yes she did, because she believed she was to old, I'm not believing the Lord for a child but if he's done it before, well you know the rest. :) Nothing is impossible to those who believe and are living right. God Bless you mary. What a beautiful name !

  172. This beautiful dream home is a total inspiration for total serenity and total enjoyment of Florida living, sea and sun! I really love the idea of making a mural from a photograph. I really enjoy the mural of the surfers in this home. My older son enjoys surfing and is teaching me how to surf. Brian had the right idea to have this mural as a center piece in this home. there are no words to describe the feeling you get from surfing, just as I can't imagine the feeling I will get when walking into this amazing dream home for the first time! Can't wait!

Mayra on February 7, 2016 at 3:42 pm
    • That surfing wall is GREAT!– You can take pictures/photo memories of your experiences in Florida and paste them in that huge, Black and White circle painting, in the dinning room. That circle needs to be filled- in with something. It looks Big and Empty. It really needs to be filled-up with memories. Compared with the other artwork in the Home, that black circle painting feels out-of-place to me. Like something that belongs in a Beetle Juice movie or something.

      waterspout2013 on February 7, 2016 at 10:10 pm
  173. I love Ethan Allen and would have my entire house furnished in it if I could. Don't love a mural of people I don't know and really don't love faux fur seating in my home. Maybe a new decorator next year (if there is a next year?)

Maril on February 7, 2016 at 3:09 pm
    • Maril,

I also like Ethan Allen furniture, but not that crazy about the selections in this home. Would be great if we could pick out our furniture from them after winning the Dream Home, and all the display furnishing go back to Ethan Allen.

I would either sell, donate or put those fur balls in the closet for seating. :)

OCO on February 7, 2016 at 8:37 pm
    • Agreed! We have a bedroom from Ethen Allen, but it is way too heavy and dark for this gorgeous Florida home, so I appreciate that this one comes furnished!

For Jeff this would be a wounderfull gift for all his bravery and sacerfise he has gone threw in combat and is still serving for our great country and for me as well coz we will both have hard times ahead with my health and when he comes home and this house would fit all our needs and wants in a place I just hope we win.

This one has EVERYTHING! I love the seasons of New England but I would LOVE to wake up next week in this house and soak in the sunshine.

TCJ on February 7, 2016 at 8:27 am

  185. Where are the photos of adoptable pets looking for their forever home there? I'm moving back to Florida either way but if the dog house is a part of it because pedigree is a sponsor there needs to be photos of the homeless pets. Even if you don't win the house, you win with a new best friend or 2.

    • OH I AGREE–i got my now 17yo aussie mix when he was 13–left by owners in shelter saying he was too old! until last few months has been walking 1-2 mi daily and such a love! my rescue doberman died last year form cancer. have been looking at doberman rescues in florida ever since this home location was announced. wow would some rescues have a ball here!!

mary on February 9, 2016 at 6:01 pm
    • Amen to rescue pets. We have two we rescued, one relinquished by her former families (yes, three) and another who was tossed on the side of a road in OK in a plastic bag to die. Both have made such strides with a little love, attention, and better diets. Our newest furry family members would have such fun on Merritt Island. I can tell that the design behind the Dream Homes have always included pets, more specifically dogs. There must be a dog lover on the HGTV Dream Home design team! Well done!

  188. Finally took time-out on this beautiful Saturday morning ,and looked at the entire – Dream House with Brian telling all about each area. What a beautiful journey it was ! Redid some of the tours with Brian. He did a great job with his designs and also a wonderful host on the tours. Many thanks Brian. Been so busy with necessary things and family health problems Only glanced over the house before and of course entered to win this beautiful home. The colors really do come together and make a very relaxing home for a very fortunate winner ! I love the flow of the main floor. Also love the Master bedroom but would choose the terrace bedroom for me. Blue is my favorite color and the view is perfect, no steps sounds good and very convenient to the pool and all the outside places. I had no idea that the dock was so big and walkway was so very long.. Places for friends to dock their boats too ! Wow ! ! ! ! The home and area to live sound just too good to be true. Now I have better pictures in my mind for my dreams. Yes, I am a dreamer too. Even when we don't win it is fun to dream. Wish everyone a blessed and peaceful day.

Grammynan on February 6, 2016 at 12:43 pm
  189. Wow, talk about waking up inspired In the master bedroom. I love the way the TV is grouped with pictures on the wall. I did not even recognize that there was a TV at first. Great job with blending it into the décor, gorgeous room too!

memanbepa on February 6, 2016 at 12:36 pm
  190. And to the Dream Home's gray-toned living room surfer mural, I still find myself saying, "Mural, mural, on the wall, I'd like more color — but not too small." So I've decided that my taste for personalizing the room, (should I be lucky enough to have that chance!) would be to replace it with something brighter and lighter, yet true to the nature of the home's surroundings…. so here are some panoramic options for framing:

The first is a coral reef poster: http://imagecache5d.allposters.com/watermarker/55

While the second is actually a 1000 piece puzzle: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81eNkVXr71L

All that's left is to have the Dream Home keys in hand — and decide which of the two coral reef scenes would best soothe the senses!

      • I've decided that I like the puzzle the best, love those colors.

OCO on February 7, 2016 at 4:56 pm
        • If I win the Dream Home, I'll buy the puzzle if you'll put it together! ^_^

DBCoop on February 7, 2016 at 7:51 pm
          • Ha, Ha, if that puzzle is as large as the wall it may take me awhile. :)

OCO on February 7, 2016 at 8:04 pm
          • The puzzle is only 13" x 38 1/2" wide, so you could probably have it finished in no more than a long weekend — assuming time off at the pool and maybe even the beach for good behavior.

DBCoop on February 8, 2016 at 10:53 am
          • Your on Coop, I'll take that long weekend to put it together for you. :) :)

OCO on February 8, 2016 at 2:09 pm
    • I love the mural. it's softness keeps the room so that is not taking you away from the beautiful view out side. I also find it very relaxing not over bearing. But, each to their own we all can't have the same likes, wow what a strange place the world would be if we all likes the same things in this world of beautiful things. If I liked one of your choices it would be not be the puzzle one a bit to bright and busy. When you win you can choose any thing you want. I would not change a thing I think it's perfect the way it all is. But, good luck to us all.

pattieclemm on February 8, 2016 at 12:51 am
      • I'm afraid all the grays of the mural's ocean water background would give me a sense of being chilled during central Florida's colder winter weather. Since I'm a tropical guy at heart, the warmer colors and coral reefs of the poster/puzzle would remind me of all the great times spent in Hawaii and the Caribbean.

As one famous American said (more or less) some years ago, "Give me tropical sunshine, or give me longjohns!"

DBCoop on February 8, 2016 at 11:01 am
        • LOL! Is that famous American you?? The colors in the second one seem perfect for the media room. Maybe take something else out of there and put that up. You can double check that the colors are perfect when you win.

And then the first one goes in the Great Room. The similarities will just make the spaces flow. :)

After 8 years in the army I moved to Tampa, and now 6 years later I moved to Ohio to be near my fiance's family as she is leaving for the army. I would much rather be working and waiting for her in this house! Not to mention be able to invest the cash and get a nice retirement plan going :) amazing! 205. My husband is constantly dragging around his Sonos, sitting outside on the porch, taking a shower, out in the hot tub. He would be in heaven with this bose system. I have been dreaming of this house almost every waking moment.

Val on February 5, 2016 at 3:34 pm
  206. If I had this house, I definitely would not leave it! Guess I would have to do all my shopping on-line. ;-) We have Bose speakers. Would not get anything else – they are fantastic! But I sure would look forward to being able to pipe our music into all rooms. Right now, it's just on our main floor. I can see me now, lounging in the master bedroom or on the lanai listening to Yanni or Enya. Calgon, take me away!!!!

  207. Having been a teen in the (ahem) 70s, this mural sings nostalgia to me of a simpler time and lazy summer days. More importantly, the soothing hues are perfect. Great job!

  208. Just another day in Paradise!! Love living in South Brevard…the icing on the cake would be this home on wonderful Merritt Island Love South Brevard…grew up here. I am wondering if Kelly Slater could be in the surfer picture.? That would be the bomb!! Only a "Beachside" native could fully appreciate the surfer picture!

  210. I have only been to Florida once. I was only 5 or 6 when I went and the only thing I really remember is how huge the bugs were, lol. I remember a little bit about Disney but not that much. I am hoping to take my almost 13 year old and my almost 9 year old to Disney sometime soon. Just the thoughts of waking up to views like that would be wonderful. A picture is worth a thousand words.

AnnaM on February 5, 2016 at 2:05 pm
  211. I love the views. i am enjoying weather in the 70"s here in Southern Cal which is great. i drove along the Pacific Coast Highway with my daughter the other day and went to lunch with an ocean view, but can you imagine waking up to that every day. Love the views from the dreamhome.

nursejudyfromCA on February 5, 2016 at 1:36 pm
    • How wonderful that sounds. I've not been much out of N.C. My husband and I hope to do some traveling when he retires. 70's sound great. We had snow flurries last night but nothing big.

AnnaM on February 5, 2016 at 2:19 pm
      • Anna, NC is cold but beautiful. Hope you get to travel some in your retirement. I have been fortunate in I have been to all but 7 or 8 states in the continental United States and not Alaska or Hawaii. Some day presently most of my travel to Midwest to visit son and family. In the meantime keep dreaming about the Dreamhome, one of my favorite things to do. JudySent from my iPhone

        • Hubby has traveled for business all his life and has amassed tons of 'points'. We are coming up on retirement in about 10-12 years so we decided it is about time to start using them up visiting all the wonderful areas that the US has to offer! We got to Alaska last November….if you ever get the chance to go, JUMP on it! While I would not want to live there, not a cold weather kinda gal, Alaska has some of the most gorgeous scenery and wildlife in the world! And the people are fantastic!

  213. I usually wake up inspired nearly every morning — unless I suddenly remember I have a dental appointment or a visit to the local DMV office scheduled. The DMV visit is usually worse… long lines and total chaos! The mornings are also extra enjoyable when I know that the temps are at least in the 50's for Terri's early morning walk and that the day's high will get into the 70's or 80's. Mmm, plenty of nice warm sunshine for gardening, afternoon walks or just lounging outdoors.

Of course, there's always an extra measure of excitement in the air when it's an HGTV Sweepstakes entry day, and with the Merritt Island Dream Home, the thought of possibly winning that tropical beauty is a dreamy way to start the day.

Just imagine living in paradise, where anything you plant thrives with little effort. Yep, I say make it exotic and supersize it, please!

  215. Waking up every morning in the 2016 HGTV HOME to the Gorgeous tropical color's in the master bedroom, will bring a calming effect to the start of your day. Once you look out over the beautiful pool and water view this will only be able to bring a smile to your face. As you begin to start your day off while you listen to your favorite music on the amazing Bose system, your day will only continue on a wonderful note as you enjoy your island day! I would love to move back to Merritt Island, there is nothing more wonderful than island living! All your HGTV HOME'S have been amazing, but I'd give anything for the 2016 HGTV HOME! After my late husband and I were married in 1987 we moved to Merritt Island and began our lives together! Due to his career we lived all over Florida, but Merritt Island always held our heart's! My husband and I often spoke of moving back, but he was taken before we were ever able too. So, winning this home would be a blessing.

pattieclemm on February 5, 2016 at 11:02 am
    • I'm with you. It certainly would be a wonderful place to wake up to. My family lived in several locations in Florida, while growing up. I love it there. It would be beyond a dream come true to win this beautiful environment.

  217. I must admit, that initially I was disappointed with the selection of yet another Florida location. However, I have come around and am now lusting after this property. It has been a very snowy winter and I am not getting any younger. Florida beckons and I have a comfortable familiarity with this neighborhood.

      • Coop great selections. Unfortunately I have had waaaaay tooooo much experience with the "Snowden" brothers this winter. My fingers are frost bitten and I need all new snow shovels. I still have a pile of snow here in the yard. I would like to give it a go and try building some sand castles and silica fortifications.

      • As long as it's warm and near the water, I'll be happy! Hubby and I spent two weeks in Panama City Florida this winter, starting to look for a place to retire….this home would fit the bill nicely!!!!! LOL
