I hope you are having a lovely day — and remembering to enter twice daily! I was clicking through the virtual home tour slideshows today and stopped when I came upon the Entertainment Deck. For a split second, I could almost hear the soothing sound of the Provo, as it meanders through the valley. That’s one of my fondest recollections of this year’s home: Lounging on one of the back decks and enjoying the sounds of nature.

We have a special treat for you today, direct from David Brown, carpenter to interior designer Linda Woodrum. This handy gentleman has been kind enough to share a step-by-step project with us — a pretty planter that sits on the front porch of HGTV Dream Home 2012. The directions are pretty simple (you get all plywood pieces pre-cut at your hardware store) and planters promise to add a dreamy, colorful pop to your front doorstep.
